Politics › Re: AMCON: Bruce Brothers Sign Court Order As AMCON Takes Over Silverbird by Boss13: 7:59pm On Jun 23, 2016
greenpasture:
The " business" going bad is not a mystery. Entrepreneurs start businesses by being visionary, charismatic and dynamic. At some stage though those men are faced with two questions. One, do you leverage using debt or do you grow organically? Two do you let professionals create transparent workflow or do you still continue flying by the seat of your pants? Every business will face these two questions. Silverbird failed both. Ben Bruce is a visionary not a business manager. An alchemist not a line worker. Throw into the mix, praise singers, sycophants and users and you have the perfect tragedy.

Like you I am sympathetic to human flaws. We all have them. The height of the stage determines how visible they are. Unlike you, I have no doubt how this happened.

And it will happen again time without number until the regulatory agencies do their work, politics is cleaned up and the popular opinion becomes less sycophantic and toxic.

Politics was a bad call for Ben. He was my senior prefect in school so I sympathize deeply but I also see how it all unfolded. Hubris. It happens to even the best of men. Sad.
I agree with you except the part of Ben Murray-Bruce entering into politics. He just became a Senator, however, this loan has been bad even before the incorporation of AMCON. It was part of the bad loans sold to AMCON. Hence, they were not servicing the debt.

who can explain what this signing of court order means, what happens after now,
It means AMCON has taken over their property and will do whatever it pleases with it to get its money. If the Murray-Bruces come to the negotiating table and restructure their loans with a definite plan of repayment, AMCON may be nice to them to give them their property.

The Murray Bruce family is one I will never gloat over their present financial debacle. Their history in business starting from their father, devoid of government loot, is one that is worthy of emulation.

I might not agree with Senator Ben Bruce politically, but he has my respect for his business acumen and lofty ideals. How this investment went bad is what puzzles me.
What is the business acumen, when you cannot service your debt and you are currently going under Administration? A savvy businessman knows how to match his funding needs. Even when forecasting goes against you, a savvy business understands that he needs to hedge his risk.

Do you know what this means to their reputation? I bet their father would be turning in his grave.

BTW there is a thin line between motivating young girls and bragging. I think Linda crossed that line. I pray she drops all that childish BS and focus on expanding her media empire.
Expanding what media empire. By feeding off on the pains of other people?

Please!!!

A minimum of 1.8m is recommended for it but i will wait until some other installers have tried and if they are unsuccessful then you can make contact with me.
There is no need to waste time. If you are good lets talk.

What I am currently experiencing is WiMAX interference. My installers were able to track it with a signal strength of 36%. However, the dish is directly opposite a mast tower, hence the reason for the interference.

I need someone who is intelligent enough to solve my problem because I have researched and discussed with people on nairaland and I understand this interference issue that affects c band can be resolved.

If you can resolve it. I will be grateful and I will also reward you handsomely.

Thanks

What I have found out is that when a politician takes his/her time to deny an allegation. That allegation is usually the truth.

Fayose and even Obanikoro would be shocked with the evidences the EFCC have against them.

My people Mek una no get EFCC case oh.
Celebrities › Re: FIRS Slams N75m On Linda Ikeji For Tax Evasion - The Capital by Boss13: 11:48am On Jun 23, 2016
I have issues with this news because I need to understand what tax she is liable to pay.

FIRS is responsible to collect Corporate Income Tax, Capital Gain Tax, VAT, Petroleum Profit Tax, Personal Income Tax for Abuja Residents, Withholding Tax, Education Tax, Stamp Duties.

I would have loved to explain these tax types but I intend to avoid verbose comment.

Is FIRS after her on Corporate Income Tax? Or is it LIRS that is after her on Personal Income Tax or Land Use Charge? We need to be clear about this before rushing to conclusion.

Tax evasion is a serious crime and one could go to prison for it.

I do not pity her situation because of her excessive show off. Now the government is breathening down her neck and the truth is rushing out like flood.

In pursuant to my previous comment, I have contacted my installer and he informed me that he got the Es 21 Gold plus anti WiMAX lnb.

Now I'm confused why I still have WiMAX interference.

Lnb with higher gains are expensive, so only Alaba guys sell for now.

Malix bought it for me from Alaba.

Wilmax is the signal interference from Telecom Mast
Thanks Davo. I have and I believe that is what is affecting my situation i.e WiMAX interference because there is a mast directly opposite the position of the satellite.

I also decided to check my lnb and I Es 21 plus but I can't remember if it's gold plus or gold plus anti WiMAX.

I will confirm from my installer what lnb he used.

Es 21 Gold plus anti Wilmax

I'm using one of them
Thanks again Davo and apologies. I don't understand what wilmax interference is. Can you kindly explain? Also where can I get the lnb from?

Thanks

Military sympathizers should know that 1998 Nigeria is not the same as 2016 Nigeria. We may not all agree with some policies and decisions of the president, however, we all stand for democracy and no more will the military take over the helm of affairs in this country again

Thanks Dave. Do you stay in Lekki? Why I ask because my installers have tried about 4 lnbs and they complained about the large numbers of mast within my environment. Also, though I do not know what lnb my installers used, I would love to know if this lnb resolved your issue.

Thanks again

I was expecting 280 or at the most 300, but was charged 340 for online payment.
This is quite unfortunate and unethical. I believe Banks should begin to realign the Payments Solutions for competitiveness. Whilst, they can charge at any rate, it is preferable to advertise the rates so that customers can have knowledge about them before carrying out the transaction.

Yes we buy household goods from China but the truth is 70% of dollar demand are mainly for, petrol, rice and wheat, now when dangote refinery comes to production petrol import will stop, that alone is 50% of dollar demand, then by 2018 the government intents banning the import of rice and wheat that will lesson dollar demand by 20% .

Everything looks good on paper hope we will get it right, cos if what I explained above come to fruition dollar may be as low as 100 naira
Bull eyes! Spot on!

As far as the importers of those banned goods are not allowed to source for fx at official market, the war between naira and the dollar will remain one sided...naira being a the receiving end. I am not against the embargo placed on those goods because they are products we can produce ourselves. But, since the embargo was placed, what are the necessary steps taken by either the government or the private sectors in making sure they are being produced domestically? The products are just banned without corrective measures,it will surely create artificial inflation. An importer that source his fx in the black market will surely place black-market price tag on the product(s), and without alternative, Nigerians will still buy them, unfortunately. Official market exchange rate is a function of parallel market exchange rate and the forces of demand and supply. This is because BDCs get their dollar from the official market(banks) and sell at the parallel market.
Everything the government! Seriously!!! The government through the CBN has restricted sales of FX to importers of those goods. A serious businessman should seize the opportunity to produce these banned goods domestically and compete with the imported goods which should be at a high price now.

There is nothing like BDCs anymore from this policy. Anybody with a genuine business transaction can walk up to their Banks and get dollars at the either the Spot rate or future/Forward rate, except the person is involved in the banned goods.

Naira started trading at 253 and closed at 288 so 35naira lost in first day. Not a positive sign for a layman like me. Your grammar can not convince me
So naira will start trading 288 this morning right and now add another 40 Naira... I predict closing at 328 at the end of today. Thumb down! Sad
The Banks were all willingly to buy, nobody was selling till CBN intervened to sell. Some Banks have already made future purchases for 1-month, 2-months and 3-months. Let the smoke screen settle, by smoke screen I mean panic buy and huge demand due to transaction backlogs, then we will know how strong the naira can be.

Dear Kemi,

We are certainly glad that you are making stride efforts to curb waste and excessive expenditures. It is also good that your team is addressing past practices of expenditure malpractice. However, I wish to inform you that the recent action is carried out in error because if the union sue you, they would win.

Special overtime payment has been made in the past and in law, it is implied that the payment is part of their remuneration whether it is stated in their letter of appointment or not.

My advice, call a meeting with the union and explain thoroughly your actions, also engage your legal teams to look at the technicalities incase the union refuses negotiations.

Regards,
