Malix:You have got auto roll box HD top quality? |
Let's be honest, this approach of anti-corruption fight is less effective and expensive. We are in a country, where people think a lot about them than the country, this has metamorphosised into public office and public office holders. A much better approach should be devised. Our anti-corruption law should be revised and stiffer conditions should be included. There is a huge need to make public office very less attractive, this will weed out those whose primary objective is to steal public funds, examples should include that no public officer holders and their relatives should have any interest in any commercial companies. All share interests should be sold off before joining politics or hold public office. Also, a strong declaration of assets should be disclosed publicly. Secondly, an anti-bribery law should be introduced for companies and persons. Directors will be imprisoned and lose their board seats if they are engaged in any bribery implications. This should also apply to professionals - Bankers, Lawyers, and Accountants that aid corruption and bribery. Thirdly, the CBN should reenact its directives on cash policy. At the moment, there is less need for large cash transactions in this country except those involved in shady transactions. Bank customers should not be allowed to withdraw more than N50,000 per day including companies and substantial fund transfers should be reported on a daily basis to the CBN, NFIU, and EFCC. Fourthly, it should be made unconstitutional for the President to singlehandedly authorized certain transactions, likewise, Ministers and other Public Office holders and CBN should make periodical make disclosures of withdrawals and receipts of funds in its accounts to Nigerians. Finally, there are cheap technology solutions that can assist with preventing and detecting corrupt practices. Effective control systems should be implemented, and the need for regular review of audit trails should be carried out. |
This is a disgusting news and I am ashamed the BusinessDay my favorite Nigerian newspaper covered this story. What smile is this useless criminal, drug trafficking senator bringing to Ogun state? Oh thank God on a rethink, it is not BusinessDay. I thought they lost their professionalism |
This man would have made a better president. Yes, he is self-centered and presumed corrupt, but his judgement is sound and he was a vice president in an era Nigeria experienced unprecedented growth |
uyi26:This young man I would advise you to stop making ridiculous comments because you are annoying a lot of people here. Do you know you that you can actually be spotted out even if you think this is a faceless forum. Your IP address is registered and can also be tracked, by the police or law enforcement agencies and even hackers, right down to your very doorsteps. Also, if this is a means to generate traffic and not an actual story please discontinue immediately and be very careful. Nigeria actually have laws and if you are ignorant about them, please go and get updated. |
uyi26:We have so many rich people on Nairaland. Online observers would think Nigeria is actually a millionaires' land. Unfortunately, because you can afford some data plan does not give you the right to be disrespectful to women. I am of the opinion that you are probably the rapist and the lady has threatened to report you to the police. I think that lady should not go to the police because your crime might be covered up, she should go to NGOs who would take on the case and report to the police themselves, it would now be an organisation against your miserably pompous dirty ass and after you exhaust your time and little money trying to defend yourself and your freely given rights are taken away from you and you end up in prison, lose your job, lose your self worth, only then would you understand that you are supposed to respect yourself and NO MEANS NO. |
hedonistic:Why would a man decide to spend money on a lady. It is a matter of choice and he chose to do so, however, the lady said NO and it should be NO. I am disgusted at the attitude of some young men on this thread and some of them need to be taught a lesson about not violating the rights of another human being. |
uyi26:You just witnessed a crime and injustice that does not make you cool. I understand you are caught in between the emotional ties with your friend and doing the right thing, but the disgusting thing is to feel cool about not being a snitch. On the other hand, the word nigga is derogatory, it a contemptuous term used to refer to a black person. Please switch up your morals and ethical behaviour and contribute to a society that stands for integrity, honesty and unbiased behaviour. That young lady is a human being regardless of the circumstances that may have played out. NO MEANS NO. |
How do one get the latest Power Vu keys for MTN Worldwide? |
abimiku1:If this is not a SCAM you do not need to request people to leave their PRIVATE telephone numbers on a PUBLIC FORUM. Do you have a clue about DATA PROTECTION and INTEGRITY? If this is a solid deal/investment and you want people on board, there is absolutely nothing wrong to disclose the information. For all certainty, the only wise investment which promises double digits is Treasury Bills, in view of the recession, any other investment with a promise of double digits needs a thorough review and analysis before you kiss your money goodbye in these hard times. I will strongly suggest people to stop dropping their private numbers on a public forum. Also, people should put on a HUGE SCEPTICISM cap on because the rate and trend of SCAMS will increase due to the hard times. These Scammers need to pay bills and as a matter of fact, kids are resuming soon and school fees bill is around the corner. |
Liars I don't believe this story. Why would you move bags of evidence into a sealed property. I believe this theft occurred at night - so what were they EFCC guys also doing in the property. Someone is annoyed that a smaller thief is invited into the party meant for big thieves |
oduastates:A plan shows that the government understands it's priorities and willingly to work. It boost public and investors confidence. |
I really don't get it. Who is she advising - Nigerians? It shows that she is speculating and does not have plans. Nigerians now know we must diversify the economy, we don't want cheap talk, we need to see plans, policies and directions on diversifying the economy. This her tweet is irritating at the moment. She should leave Twitter and get to work and if she must employ foreign consultants, she better do so because I smell lack of inexperience and knowledge on what to do from her tweets |
Newmanluckyman:It may be rigged. The present situation is not funny at all. We have regressed backward at a very fast pace. The little economic gains made by past administrations despite the challenges and corrupt practices, have been eroded away in just months |
Please lawyers in this country are rogues. Tafa comes to mind plus the crooks who help corrupt criminals. |
rlauncher:My friend shut up and stop this nonsense. This is not a ps4 game. If you are a breadwinner and not relying on anyone you should know that this economy is in a coma. Innoson will commence sacking its workers. Banks are on the brink. Forex is like diamond and manufacturers are closing shops. Airlines are shifting operations to Ghana; aero and Arik both have operational issues. Even churches are being affected as they have increased night vigil periods. So what are you talking about? This is the time to wail, scream, cry till our president wakes up and do his goddamn job |
It seems that this hunger is approaching Ekiti government house. Do we actually have a president, a leader? In this hard times, where is he to calm tensed nerves and give hope. Where is he to tell Nigerians he understands and that he is not sleeping over the problem. He is no where to be found, seen or heard rather leaving us to the mercy of aides lying through their infectious mouth. Nigerians do we truly have a president? |
yrret:I really wonder. People are dying from hunger and this government wants us to continue to hold the past administration responsible forgetting that government is a continuum. After they lied to us that they can rescue the situation. Nigeria was bad, now it is worse with lying aides, idle president and incompetent ministers |
aljharem:Nigerians never knew what we had. We made a huge mistake. |
NavierStokes:I like your thought process. What we have now is a useless, lying and uncaring government. The worst of it kind, even Abacha regime was not as bad as this |
nathandrake:I agree with the previous poster. It is a distraction. The economy is in a bad state and I don't think right thinking Nigerians are interested in recovering loot except those who benefit from chasing stolen funds. Of what benefits will the recovered loot do to Nigerians in this recession? What about the monies recovered previously - Nigerians are unaware of how the monies have been put to use. Please note that lawyers and consultants gain a percentage to trace and recover stolen funds. So it is better Buhari and his bunch of liars start fixing the economy. It took them 6 months to admit that we are finally in a recession when Nigerians have been suffering since January 2016. Come to imagine that I supported the man against all warning is just so irritating to think about |
This visit actually puts Nigeria on the map. No leopard looking escort, no long chain of security aides, no traffic due to the visit. It actually shows Nigeria is a safe country. I bet the US embassy was not aware of his visit and are unhappy about it. It makes them irrelevant. Mark Zuckerberg is an unusual fellow. Well unusual people actually champion their fields. But on a serious note this ntel modern wey I dey use dey vex oh. E no let me finish sey. The tin just too fast. |
handsomeclouds:Money |
bulletproofmonk:Thank God! The expense would have lined up on some people bank accounts |
Is there job. Are they suppose to get thanks. Probably the gas companies are supplying gas. Once there is disruption we are back to square one. so no need to get excited |
In Nigeria, criminality pays. These militants are not after any economic development in the Niger Delta, but only after economic development of their Bank accounts. The world is moving away for degrading the environment towards renewable and sustainable resources. In Nigeria, we are fighting and killing each other over fossil fuel. In 20 years, that fossil fuel will become irrelevant and will no longer be in demand. However, we might have killed the entity called Nigeria or created enmity and hatery amongst ourselves. The militants are blaming the government for their woes, what have they contributed to the Niger Delta society? They are degrading their environment, making the place toxic to live in for themselves and their unborn future generations. They fight for cash in their pocket at the detriment of their health. I am not in support for the call of war, but it is high time we stopped legalizing criminalities in this country. It sets a precedence which may span out of control. |
AWONEYAN:Excuse me please |
So why ain't we doing that? Exporting enough outputs? Don't you think because Nigerians are lazy - lazy to create opportunities, lazy to convert their resources into products that can be exported, lazy to think? We have everything we need to survive in this country. However, we prefer foreign products. Foreign beans, foreign rice, foreign clothes, foreign music/movies, foreign education. We have created a perception that foreign outputs/activities are better than what we have. Hence, we will continue to import |
I'm beginning to have some serious regret supporting Buhari |
Sometimes I wonder whose interest the CBN serves - Foreign Capitalist or the Nigerian Public? This huge foreign inflow is as the direct result of CBN increase MPR rate to 16 percent. Let's be honest, these foreign capitalist are insatiable. Their aim is to increase their wealth continuously. Then, for how long are we going to increase our interest rate in other to satisfy foreign capitalist because we want FOREX? Local businesses are suffering. The cost of borrowing funds is just too high especially in this recession. We need local solutions for these local problems |
admax:Well said. Young graduate are yet to get this. Instant rush to do a masters without job experience makes you an automatic graduate entry. Work experience is key. Another thing young graduate do is doing a masters in a field that is not in demand in the country - who will employ you. A masters does not guarantee you instant job employment. |
smellingmenses:Please read the report. He is on bail. He can only sue if the judge acquit him of the crime |
