I agree. We stay in the Ijaiye area (relatively quiet estate), and when I was in Naija 2 weeks ago, we had power for at least 18 hours through out the 2 weeks that I was there. That's one thing that has got better over the years.

Nice thread bro. Keep up the good work. I have to agree that there are Nigerians all over the Caribbean country. And they are certainly nice places to vacation at. I have been to all these countries (from the USA) on vacation and met Naija or someone that knows a Nigerian in just about all of them. Jamaica (multiple times), CayMan Island (multiple times), Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, St martin, USVI, British VI, Belize, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Haiti. Most of these countries we visited via a cruise ship stop, some of them we flew into directly.

As you mentioned, if you can work hard and keep your head straight and do not mind taking chances, nothing can stop you from being successful in this country.

I have been to as least 7 countries in the Caribbean. They are all beautiful places. I still miss some of them so much. In St Lucia, they LOVE Nigeria so much. You will think you are somewhere in Lagos. Naija music all day. In Trinidad, Timaya is so popular and they have a Soca (soca is a genre of music in the Caribbean) artist named "Olatunji" whose parent i think are Nigerian. In Jamaica, they can't stop watching Nollywood movies. In Turks and Caicos (providenciales), they play Naija music at some car wash

There are Nigerians all over the caribbean doing well for themselves, Doctors, Nurses, Professors. They all have somethings in common,Most or all of Their kids are either Americans/Canadians, Nigerians and the Caribbean country they reside.

I really look forward to moving back to the Caribbean when it is time to retire.

I Just came through there last week on BA, on a flight itinerary that originated in Lagos (2 hour layover in London). I had zero problems. I was not even sent to Agriculture. Even though he asked, and I told him what food items I had. I did notice that Most of the Nigerians that originated from Lagos on that flight, and attended to by the other officer there, were sent to Agriculture though.

The iphone, while a nice and very intuitive device, is too restrictive. The software developer in me just makes it so difficult for me to be able to be productive with it. Android is quite open and customizable. I dabbled with the iphone with the iphone4 when they first came out 7 years ago. Can't stand it! I do like the music interface (itunes) though. So, I just use the 2 iphone4's I have for that (no sim card in them). One stays in my car, and one is in my backpack.

Yes, those are the things that constitutes livability, and that's what the rankings are based on. Infrastructure - water, electricity, health care, roads, etc. Lagos has taken a step backwards in a lot of these areas, from the days I grew up in Lagos. It's so unfortunate.

Healthcare: How responsive are the emergency ambulances to accidents and emergency health situation? What are the reputation of the hospitals? The ratio of quality doctors to the population? Is it accessible? Do people go to pastors and babalawos for healing instead of hospitals? Do you go to your quack "chemist" instead of seeking for medications through the proper channels?

Culture and Environment: What can tourist see? How are your museums? Your history? Your festivals? How attractive is it. Is Lagos a place where one can take a 'wow' picture? Your environment, how polluted are they? Is the environment litter free? How is your waste management? The water bodies? Are they "clean"? The number of dead cars on the roads polluting the air. What is the traffic situation like?
Education: For a population of over 15 million, 2 public universities serving the teeming youth is actually a big disgrace! What is the quality of the high schools? Which research institutes do they have?
Well, if you judge Lagos from the eye of a foreigner, you will know that Lagos is a shalanga, and yes, including the almighty Lekki!

In addition to pitbull and Rottweiler. These are guard dogs and some are bred to kill. These are considered some of the most dangerous breed. Several cities here in the USA have banned them, especially pit bulls.

The result is always in megabits, so why divide and convert. Yes, if you are trying to determine how much it will take to download a megabyte, then you divide. However, if the results is displayed in MBps (Uppercase MB), then it's megabytes. OP posted 750 mbps (lowercase mb). All the speedtests websites or apps I have used always display it in mbps (all lowercase), at least by default.

No, you can't legally work with a tourist visa. Under the table, where you'll get paid cash, that's possible. However, you certainly risk getting caught, deported, and being banned for life from entering the US. You can probably change your status, say if you get married to a US citizen during your visit.

Folks! Take a deep breath and understand what the article is saying. They listed the 10 best and 10 least livable cities. Lagos falls in the latter category (Not good!). Abuja is better than Lagos and that's why it's not on the list. It will be somewhere above Lagos. I see a lot of people saying "at least Lagos is on the List" This is certainly NOT the list Lagos wants to be on and nothing to be proud of. People are totally mis-understanding the article. Even Cameroon and Bangladesh are ranked higher than Lagos.

Lagos made the list because it's considered one of the 10 least livable cities to live in. They listed the 10 best and the 10 least livable cities. That tells you how bad Lagos is. So, it means every other city that's not on the list and not below Lagos is somewhere in between. I think most people saying Lagos made the list are misunderstanding the list. Bottom line - Lagos made it because it's one of the least livable cities to live in. Heck! Even Cameroon and Bangladesh are ranked higher than Lagos.

Think a little bit - They listed the 10 best livable and the 10 least livable cities. Lagos falls in the category of one of the 10 least livable cities. Chicago and Detroit will be somewhere in between. I will repeat, comparing Lagos to any city in the western world is laughable at best. Even Cameroon and Bangladesh are ranked higher than Lagos. This should be an eye opener for most of us. As someone who is from Lagos, I love it and want the best for it. However, we should call a spade a spade and accept the facts.

These numbers are based on several factors. Infrastructure, cost of living, etc. It makes absolutely ZERO sense comparing Lagos to ANY city in the western world. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I see mention of Chicago...what a joke comparing Lagos and the Mega city like Chicago.

It certainly depends on location. Where are you located? However, in general, their network is congested most of the time. They just do not currently have the capacity to sustain the number of subscribers they have.

As for pay, it really depends. However, the cost of living is lower in Chicago than say Los Angeles or NY, so the pay will be lower as well. However, remember that this is the 3rd largest city in the US right after LA and NY. And a major metropolitan city, surpassed only by NY. In general though, the pay is commensurate with the cost of living.

It's unfortunate that you are experiencing issues with your Nexus 5 stuck in boot loop regardless of trying various troubleshooting steps. In addition to what you have already tried, I'd suggest you try doing the following and see how it goes:

To check if the issue you are experiencing is a hardware or software issue, let's try rebooting your phone into the bootloader. In the bootloader if your device reboots, it is most likely a hardware issue. If it doesn't reboot it is most likely a software issue. To do so:

1. If your device is turned on, turn it off.
2. Plug your device into the original power adapter and into a functioning wall outlet.
3. To boot into the bootloader, press and hold the Volume Down, Volume Up, and Power buttons at the same time for several seconds until you see the word "Start" in green and a large Android robot on its back.
4. Wait for 90 seconds in the bootloader menu to see if your device reboots. If your device reboots within the bootloader menu, it is most likely a hardware issue. If you purchased your Nexus 5 on Google Play, try contacting our Hardware Specialist for further assistance. If you purchased your Nexus 5 elsewhere, contact LG at 1-800-793-8896.
5. If your device doesn't reboot within the bootloader menu, try wiping the cache partition through the bootloader by following the below steps:
Press the Volume down button until you highlight "Recovery mode."
Press the Power button to start recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
Press & hold the Power button. While holding Power, press the Volume up button once. Then release Power.
Press the Volume down button until you highlight "Wipe cache partition," and then press the Power button to select it.

That's very rare. A lot of folks visit here from other big cities and they rave about the architecture and cleanliness of the city. It's considered the cleanest big city in the USA (It's the 3rd largest city btw). In general, areas that are mostly black/poor tend to have higher crime rate. Downtown proper itself is moistly white...too expensive for most blacks to live there. However, when we mention Chicago that always includes downtown, North side, South side, and West side and a few surrounding suburbs. All those together are overwhelmingly white. Chicago is probably the #2 or #3 center for business and finance in the US. I think you really need to google the city.
