It will also work on these LTE bands you posted above FDD-LTE B1/3/7. Only missing GLO LTE band 28.

According to this specs here, it supposed to work. Unless if somehow the specs are not correct.

I guess the phone doesn't really support the glo 4G band 28.

If you have 4G in your area then it should have worked (according to specs, the device is compatible with GLO's 4G network). Unless may be it takes a while for GLO to activate their 4G. I can't imagine that the case though.

TravelRe: Nigerian Woman Gives Birth On A Plane En Route New York - Pictures by Bossman(m): 5:43pm On Jan 18, 2018
This is correct. According to US laws, the baby will NOT be a US citizen, since that aircraft was not over US airspace. If it cannot be determined, then the baby takes on the citizenship of it's parent.

yhemster:
hahahaha, I just did some searches and it usually more complicated than I said it. In this case, the child may likely be a French citizen (being the home country to Air france) but possibly being a US citizen only if the plane was already in the US airspace at the time of birth. Based on the article, I read the plane was 4 hours from NY when the mother was in labour which cannot be called a US airspace.

This is correct. According to US laws, the baby will NOT be a US citizen, since that aircraft was not over US airspace. I believe it was over Canadian airspace though. Otherwise, the baby takes on the citizenship of it's parent.

Since you are related to your brother by blood, I believe he should be able to file for you. My guess is he wants you to go the community college route, because those are usually cheaper, and it's easy to get an I-20 (this you will take to the embassy in Naija for your visa) from such schools. His plan is likely that once you are here in thee US (on a student visa of course), then he will go ahead and start the filing process. I am not certain though if he can ONLY file for you while you are still in Nigeria. You and/or him should certainly verify that. Nevertheless, you should continue with your education there, while at the same time working on your travel plans.

I have been reading this thread since last year and this is my first comment on it ans bros na question i wn ask abeg find time take answer me.

I have an Elder bro in the US, he is a citizen. The last time we talked about traveling abroad my dad wasted money and it didn't work. My bro told me to apply for a community college, i did. i even took a TOEFL exam and i scored 88 and i had to beg an uncle of mine for statement of account. Bros that was the end, i didn't even apply for visa and my bro didn't even give me any further instructions. Now am in my 3rd year in school and i want to travel abroad after school. The OP mum is a citizen and she filled for him to come over there. My bro is a citizens cant he even send me invitation visa first so i can leave this place before he files for a green card for me...My future in this country isn't clear for now at all.

To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, just multiply the temperature by 1.8 and then add 32 to the result. To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 from the number and then divide the difference by 1.8. So for Fahrenheit, the freezing temp is 32. One day last week it was -11 F(-23 C) here in Chicago. No be joke!

BlowJobs:
lol, i still don't understand the F that much. C is easier. 8degreesC tells me that is it cold but not bad. 0degreesC and below tells me that if is freaking cold and toes can go numb. That F might be 13degrees and when you go out, it is like batshit crazy!!!

Na wa o. We are already getting insane speeds on 4G. And that seems to suffice for everything one needs to do on a phone. Yes, the US is already saturated with 4G. You cannot find a phone sold by any of the US carriers that's not 4G capable. I really do not know what 5G is going to get us that we cannot already do on a 4G capable device. A lot of folks here stream netflix and youtube all day on 4G.

Correct. Nokia 2 should work for you blaizy. It's a basic phone, but it should provide you LTE on all networks in Nigeria. It's $99 here. So pretty much the same price as there.

Yes o. That's Chicago weather for you. Hope you are enjoying the negative Temps (-6 F this morning) we've had in Chicagoland over the last week or so. grin As you said, one needs to drive extremely carefully in the snow. Normally (if it snows overnight) they plough before folks start heading out to work early in the morning, and they do a good job at that. May be it was a weekend or holiday weekend or so.

FrankNetter:
Some days back, I got a feel of why I need to get winter tires. See, like I said some time ago, my car gets me from point A to B and is warms up really fast when you drive. So, most times, I don’t have to start it up some minutes before I leave the house, I just jump in and start driving. At the back of my mind, I knew I needed some new tires though, the thread of the ones currently on my car were currently thin and had failed the coin test. The more threads you’ve got on your tires, the more gripping power you have and the shorter the braking distance. (read: http://www.tireamerica.com/research/the-penny-tire-test)

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/LRVA4aeFBYw/hqdefault.jpg

Sunday, last week, I had to drop my sister at church, and head to work;. Over the previous days, it hadn’t been snowing that much so I figured I would be fine driving my car even with my “bad” tires. I woke up that morning and looked outside, it had snowed the night before. When it snows, the roads become caked up with snow and become very slippery. You have to drive way below the speed limit so as not to lose control of your car. You accelerate really slow, you decelerate even slower, cos the tendency for you to lose control of your vehicle increases when you’re driving on ice, your car is in motion and you slam on your brakes suddenly. On a normal day, when it snows at night, the snow-ploughing emergency services department kicks in. Before 6:00am, special trucks carrying ice-melting salt would already be on the roads followed closely by trucks with big “shovels” in front to plough the snow from the road so as to make them motorable.

For some reason that day, they hadn't ploughed the roads. Ice and snow were on the roads, perfect recipe for disaster.
I got into my car along with my sister and started driving, on getting to a red light at the end of the road, I misjudged my braking distance and slammed my brakes on too suddenly. I lost control of my car.

Does anyone here using LTE on GLO know if one needs to get a hold of a LTE sim for GLO? That is - Is a sim swap needed in order to get LTE on GLO? I did not have to do it with my MTN. My same old MTN sim connected to their LTE network on Band 7, when I was in Naija a few months ago.
PhonesRe: HELP!!! I Am Looking For The Cheapest Phone With 4g LTE by Bossman(m): 8:24pm On Jan 03, 2018
I am not familiar with the local devices that are sold in Naija specifically. But as I mentioned, you need to make sure the device has LTE band 28. There are plenty of devices that meet that requirement. Just check GSMarena enter your criteria, and it will list the devices that match. In most cases, they are usually mid to high end devices that will support this band 28. I know 2 of my devices (Moto Z play and ASUS zenfone 3 deluxe) do support it. Also, most of the recent iphones do support the band. As some mentioned, some of the Techno devices sold there in Naija also support it. Just see if any of those devices meet your requirements.

blaizy:
what device do you suggest
PhonesRe: HELP!!! I Am Looking For The Cheapest Phone With 4g LTE by Bossman(m): 8:02pm On Jan 02, 2018
blaizy, remember that GLO deployed their LTE on the very rare band 28(700). So, if you must have LTE on GLO as well as the other Naija carriers, as you mentioned above, make sure the device you get has this LTE band. I see quite a few mention of devices that do not have this band. I don't understand us Nigerians sometimes. You mentioned that you need it to work on GLO LTE (as well as the other carriers) , and folks are still recommending devices that will not satisfy that requirement. Do we not take our time to read and try to understand the question that's being asked?

This device is not even listed on GSM arena. So it's not a mainstream device. Had to dig deeper to find this specs. Assuming the specs listed are correct, then yes, it supports GLO's LTE band 28(700).

Only exception was when I was developing webservices that interacted with other webservices and batch applications. So, web dev skills is certainly something you want to master.

Learning those languages is definitely a good idea. Cloud computing, especially with AWS is also very big. As mentioned already, you have to learn stuff that's difficult and quite challenging for a lot of people to do. Computer programming certainly meets that criteria. More importantly, learning those in-demand skillsets will separate you from the pack. In this field, learning new tech never ends.

Hello.
I just started programming using Python, JavaScript.
How lucrative are these languages in the UK.

And also I want to get started in Cloud computing using AWS, Azure. How do I go about it?

Yes, absolutely. You have to be dedicated of course. What IT skills are you looking at software development/programming? IT itself is broad - programming, DB admin, Networking. Of course, programming is the hottest right now. If you are looking to get into that, it advice you choose one of the major programming languages (I'd suggest Java, since I have been doing it for donkey years, and have had a great career out of doing it) out there and learn programming thoroughly. In general, people that find mathematics/problem solving easy, tend to be successful programmers. Not saying one can't be a programmer if they do not like math, however it will not be easy. Should not be an issue for you, since you are a Medical Doctor. So you've done a lot of Math.

Don't know much about motion graphics. However, combining it with Front-end web development can certainly help. Since you plan on going to Canada, you need to search the job boards there to see if your skillset currently matches what's trending there. IT is a changing field anyway, so a particular technology it may be trending now, but not 2 years from now. You just need to be able to adapt. and learn new skills.

Since he is not the owner of the property and just renting, it can't be building insurance, it will be contents insurance. Having contents insurance is not a bad idea. Had it when I was living in an apartment about 18 years go. It's usually a small fee anyway. So if you have valuables, it's a good idea.

Ralphlauren:
Is it building or home contents insurance you are paying for?

Building insurance covers the building itself - in case of fire or damage from water, flood, etc.

Home contents covers your belongings - TV, carpet, kitchen hob (depending on the policy) against theft or damage.

Right now, I have just building insurance (compulsory as this is one of the terms of any mortgage) but I do not have home contents insurance.

I recently dropped a hot iron on my rug and unfortunately I need to replace the whole rug as I’m told it can’t be “patched up”. This is the only time I regretted not having home contents insurance as I could have made a claim and had the carpets replaced by the insurers. angry

As a single person during my tenant days, I never had any form of home insurance. That’s the landlords responsibility. The landlord is supposed to have both building insurance and landlord insurance.

That's good. But let's face it - An overwhelming majority in Nigeria will not smell close to that a month. So, you may be in a very good field that pays that much, and that's good. Unfortunately to live very comfortable in Nigeria one needs to be REALLY making a lot of money. And still that does not even guarantee the basic comforts of life...as well all know how things are in Nigeria.

Just weigh your options and determine if you will live a better life and have peace of mind in Canada or Nigeria.

This is absolutely correct! Take care of where you and your immediate family live permanently and spend most of your time first. Then anything extra should be for Naija. Ton's of folks from here (USA), UK, etc. build homes in Naija and they barely spend a month out of the whole year in it. Even my own brother sef. His HUGE house built last year in Naija is locked up, as he lives in the UK with his family. Only visits Naija 2 - 3 times a year.

Ralphlauren:
You live and work in the UK.

Your kids all live and school here.

Buying/owning your own home here in the UK should take priority over building or owning a home in nigeria.

Building in nigeria isn’t cheap and it comes with a lot of headache. People will try real hard to reap you off.

Why spend £40,000 on a home in nigeria that you will end up visiting barely 2 weeks in a year when you are paying rent (effectively paying someone’s else mortgage) in the UK.

Get a mortgage (especially one that allows you overpay at least 10% of the outstanding sum in a year) and you will be amazed that in 10years, you will own the home outrightly.

Mortgage rates are low at the moment. Take advantage of it before things change.

BTW, if you still want to get all the messages on your phone, there is a possibility as long as whatsapp has not been deleted (or reactivated with another number) from the old phone. Here are the simple steps.

- Whats app backs up every 24 hours I believe. But if you want messages up to the minute you switched sims, you will have to put your sim back in the old phone and then do a manual backup via whatsapp settings.
- Delete whatsapp from your new phone and reinstall. Go ahead and try to setup your number on the new phone. During the process, it will determine there is a backup associated with your number, and ask if you want to restore from the backup. Just select 'Yes" If you also want to restore videos, make sure that option is selected as well. That's all.

PS - Please ignore if this as been posted already.
