Someone must have started but if only the reactors knew their reaction would only ensure the Google search result stays consistent. They keep using her name and the expression "ugliest miss world" together. Even the bloggers and news channels that try to milk the situation dry keep fueling it with their headlines. Now when you Google that question, you get something like "Nigerians react as Google search shows Agbani Darego as ....". OP, even your thread is a factor here.

This is why Chinese bots are 'busy' feeding the internet with their cooked up version of the covid-19 story (second pic).

Where is the second picture?

Great..Please try Alex too..look for a video on her ultimate tips for reading(I can't exactly remember the title of that video). But that video completely changed my approach to the reading section. Honestly, I think reading still remains the easiest part of that exam. In reading, you can get a 9(40/40) without too much stress.. For listening, keep practicing the ieltsonline test and Cambridge. Practice difficult map questions, practice multiple choice questions(those with 3 options) with very long worded answer options. Also practice questions multiple choice where they have like 8 options. I think those are the hardest kind of questions in the listening section. All the best

Alright. Sorry that my questions are too much o, but in a situation where I have already sent the address to unilag, how do I include the reference number?
By default when you copy the address from your WES profile after payment, your reference number should be there. Incase you didn't copy it properly, you might have to get a contact at the transcript office to ensure you reference number is added. Otherwise the document will be rejected by WES.

How to get Request/Reference letter from your employer

Reference Letter from employer plays a very important role as the document to prove your work experience for migration purposes. Many people have raised the issue on this forum that they are unable to get reference letter(s) from their employer for migration. I would like to highlight some points in this regard which worked for me and might as well work for you guys. After all you can give it a try, and if it works for you, good for you. If you have explored better ways of addressing this issue, please mention it here, so that others can also learn and approach it in a manner which will help them

Requesting a reference letter is an art, it all depends on your rapport with your manager/supervisor. If I were you, I would follow the steps given below, after all you are not moving to a competitor, you are only trying for a better life, which is not wrong at all.

1. Win Confidence - If you can win your manager's confidence, then you can let him know this over a causal chat. The best way to approach is in the form of asking your manager's advise on you moving to another country. Even if you do not like the current job, never ever do the mistake of complaining and citing it as the reason for migration. Instead, try to relate it with your personal aspirations, ambitions and quality of life and what you want to do with your life. If you ask for advise, it is an indirect way of flattering the manager and it will also make him feel that you consider him as a mentor, but do not overdo it . This approach will definitely work, because we humans by our very nature love to advise others . Listen to his views on the same, do not get demotivated in case he does not see immigration as a good way to better one's life. In fact, it is his view, and you have anyway made up your mind to migrate. After all, you used this approach only to put this situation to him. If you are successful in this approach, then you have laid the foundation

2. Request Reference - Next ask him whether he would be willing to refer you in case you plan to migrate in future, never give him an indication that it is immediate, otherwise he will feel that you have made up your mind to move and the thoughts of replacing you would be running in his mind. You can give an indication about it and also assure your manager that you will be around for at least a year, so that you safeguard your job even if Canada does not go through as expected. If you put it this way, he will be more than happy and willing to refer you. But sometimes, even if he is willing to refer you, he may not have the right to issue a letter, so that is where the next step comes into picture.

3. Leverage Authority/Position - If you are successful in doing the above, you have crossed 50% of the hurdle. The next important step is to convince HR to issue a letter in the required format. This is a very crucial step, so leverage your manager's authority/position and request your manager to speak to HR on your behalf and convince them about your requirement and also let him assure HR that the whole process would take at least a year (keeping buffer in mind  ) and you would stick around for the said time being. Yes, this is the difficult part of assuring them, but you need to make a commitment (at least verbally) to stick around - if you need the letter badly, this is the least that you can do. This works in most of the cases, as they know that you may leave sometime in future and if they have to find a replacement, they know when to start the process. If this step does not work, then, from step 2 move to the step below.

4. Letter from Manager - If HR refuses to give you a letter, then ask your manager to issue you a letter on white paper (it should cover all the requisite points), along with a copy of his visiting card and company ID card and get the letter notarized. Submit it along with a Letter of Explanation (LOE).

LOE should cover the following points.
- State the reason why you cannot get a reference letter from employer, if you have any evidence to support you statement, please mention it and also attach it along with the letter.
- In absence of the letter, mention what proactive steps you have taken to prove your work experience.
- Mention the list of documents which you are submitting, in the absence of the reference letter.
- Request the Case Officer to consider your case in light of your situation and also in terms of the proactive steps taken by you to submit best alternative documentary evidence.

All the best!

Please does anyone knows what could be responsible for this, more so CIPM informed that they have sent the hard copy of transcript to WES, which is the only item showing as pending.

Also please does anyone has confirmation if WES has started accepting hard copy transcript now.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Questions To Ask And Questions To Never Ask At An Interview by bosunjohns(m): 8:58am On Dec 17, 2019
Thecvbankng:
Top 10 good questions and top 10 questions you should never ask at an interview.

As always, no two interviews can be the same as there are always different factors that determine how an interview will go.

The interviewer, the ambience, the questions answered and the ones you ask can all play different roles on the outcome.

Questions To Ask
1. Please describe the culture of your organization:
What this question does is subtly pass a message to the interviewer that you are also interested in wether the organization is the right fit for you. It is important that you are comfortable with the culture.

2. Please shed more light on the day-to-day responsibilities of this role?
You don't want to be hired for a role you thought was admin only to be asked to go buy food from Iya Shina. Learning the day-to-day tasks also gives an insight to specific skills and strengths needed.

3. Can you outline the typical career path for someone in this role?
Here, the interviewer will sense your need for career advancement. It also indicates your interest in growing within the org. However, don't ask in a way that'd sound self-serving.

4. What important qualities do I need to excel in this role?
Oftentimes, there are some valuable information that’s not included in the job description. This question can help unfold more about the expectations. That way, you can work towards being a good fit.

5. What are the main challenges and opportunities the organization is facing?
Thing is, if you know the org has recently launched a service / product you could work this into the question by asking how it's is being received – this also shows them that you’ve done your research.

6. Can you tell me a bit about your background?
The interview should never be about you and the role alone. It's good to also show interest in the interviewer / recruiter. This also helps in building rapport & finding common ground with the person interviewing you.

7. How is success defined for the team I will be working in?
This question will help highlight the organization's priorities. Hence, you can compare and contrast with your own goals. It will also clarify what the business expects from their teams.

8. Is there anything we haven’t discussed or that you want to know that would help you with the hiring decision?
This question helps you offer the opportunity to fill any gaps that the interviewer might have noticed. It also helps you dot all 'i's and cross all 't's.

9. Can you tell me the challenges I might face if hired for this role?
This is another opportunity for the interviewer to talk about the specifics of the role. It is also aimed at selling yourself. Like, “Oh, I faced a similar challenge, but here’s how I handled it…”

10. What are the next steps and when should I be expecting to hear from you?
What this question does is show that you are eager to move to the next stage. It also helps you gain vital info about the timeline for hiring. That way, you can follow-up appropriately.

Always remember using these key points to ask questions at an interview:
- Specifics of My Role
- My Team and Expectations
- My Learning and Development
- The Organizational Culture and Business Goals
- The Interviewer
- Next Steps

Questions You Shouldn't Ask.

1. How often can I work from home? Do I need to be here always?
Even if the org allows employees work from home always, this kind of question creates a bad first Impression. It also indicates you might be a pain to work with and/or to manage.

2. How soon and often will I be promoted?
Asking this kind of question will only make you come off as arrogant and somewhat entitled. There's a better way to ask about your development at the org and this isn't really a good way.

3. Does the org monitor social media activities?
Except you have something to hide, you really shouldn't ask this kind of question. It's a topic better left undiscussed. When you raise concerns, it becomes a red-flag and the recruiter would rather just go with another candidate.

4. Don't ask questions related to your salary or benefits.
Always remember questions or negotiations regarding salary/benefits don’t come into play until after an offer has been extended. Asking this question means you are assuming you now have the job. Anty, Bros calm down.

5. Would you like to grab coffee or drink later?
There's been many cases of candidates asking interviewers this question. It's a NO-NO. This comes off as trying to influence the hiring decision, or that you are more interested in a date. If anything at all, let them initiate it.

6. Do you do background checks?
Are you hiding something? LOL.
Thing is, this question seem harmless, but you might have less time to explain why you've asked. Don't sow a seed in the heart of the interviewer that you won't be able to harvest. Hence, it can affect opportunity.

7. What does this organization do?
Really? As much as the interviewer will tell you this, they expect you do your research very well. If they do not ask you what you know about them, don't ask them what they do. Simple.

8. Does your organization monitor email use and web browsing while at work?
Again this question raises questions of 'what are you hiding?'. Will you be actively working on personal stuff while at work, and you don't want your company to find out? Of course, org now monitor all.

9. Would you like to see my references now?
Common. You might seem desperate.
A hiring process is like dating.
You don't ask to arrange an introduction until you are both sure you are good for each-other and would like to take the relationship to another level.

10. Can I arrive late or leave early as long as I complete my hours?
No one told us you were the son of the CEO. If they had, we wouldn't be conducting an interview for you. LOL.
What you are practically trying to do is dictate your work hours. No.
Patience is really a virtue.

It is important to avoid questions that raise red flags on:
- Honesty
- Integrity
- First Impression
- Hard Work
- Security
- Greed
- Patience and gradual growth
As always, it is important to engage in a professional manner.

Be Professional.
Speak Professionally &
Ooze Professionalism.

All the best!

Politics / Sowore Accuses DSS Of Trying To Assassinate Him by bosunjohns(m): 11:29am On Dec 06, 2019
Convener of the #revolutionnow movement, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the Department of State Service (DSS) has threatened to kill him after his release on Thursday night.

Mr. Sowore and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, were released when Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, gave an order at the scheduled commencement of the defendants’ trial on charges of treasonable felony.

The drama in court today started when operatives of DSS tried to rearrest Mr. Sowore and Mr. Bakare in front of Justice Ojukwu.

Mr. Sowore, in an interview with Channels TV correspondent, said that the DSS had allegedly told him that he will not walk out of their detention alive.

“It might be my only word on the record before they kill me; this is an attempt to assassinate me in court. They came with guns and they tried to shoot and they dragged me down in front of a judge after I have been granted bail.

“I said it that these are a bunch of lawless people and they were reluctant to respect the order of the court. Now they have shown it to the whole world.

“They tried to break me in prison, sent delegations to me, offering all kinds of things and I refused and they promised that I will not walk out of their detention alive and that is what they have come to implement today.”

The #RevolutionNow convener urged Nigerians not to be afraid and some people have to make the sacrifice for the Country to work.

“What is important for Nigerians to know is that I am not going to give up until every Nigerian benefit from a country that is theirs and I have made it very clear.

“Nobody in Nigeria should be afraid, it is our country and some people have to make the sacrifice for this country to be a country of rule, law and of dignity; and this also involves even judges, if suspects who have been given bail are not safe in court, the judges themselves are not safe.”

He explained that the sudden exit of justice Ojukwu is due to the manner at which the DSS operatives had caused a scene inside the courtroom.

“That is why the judge had to retire hurriedly into her chambers.

“We urge you to hang around so that you can witness this historic day in Nigeria.”

Sowore, a presidential candidate in the February 2019 elections, was arrested on August 3, just days to a planned protest against “bad governance” in the country.

Both he and his co-defendant are facing seven counts bordering on conspiracy to commit treasonable felony in breach of Section 516 of the Criminal Code Act, money laundering and cybercrimes, amongst others.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail on October 4, in the sum of N100m and N50m respectively with two sureties in like sum.

They, however, were not released until yesterday.
