fctguy: The groundnut pyramids of Kano were a sight to behold and told a wonderful story of agricultural sufficiency and of a fruitful nation. It revealed a country that knew the way to sustainable development, through agriculture, self sustainability and hard work.
https://s6.postimg.org/axykk7tox/groundnut_pyrammid.jpg
Over the years Nigeria has gone away from farming as we started to over rely on oil, a resource with a finite life shelf. The land of Nigeria is blessed, sow a seed and it will surely grow. We have the potential to be the food basket of all of Africa. When we produce our own food as we used to do in the past to a larger degree than we do today we can rest assured that no matter the global economic outlook, inflation would always be under control because we would have more than enough internally generated food to feed the population. As our imports grew and grew so did inflation.

https://s6.postimg.org/hpozn2ioh/groundnut3.gif
It is appropriate to look back and remember the things that made us great back then and agriculture was certainly one of them. As the picture shows, the groundnut industry alone provided employment of many youths, youths today are easily enticed into militancy because of the lack of jobs yet we have resources to create thousands of jobs off the God given fertile land we sit on.
https://s6.postimg.org/o4slxhes1/groundnut1.jpg They were viewed as both a tourist attraction and a symbol of wealth. In the 1960s and 70s, as production in Nigeria shifted from agriculture to oil, the groundnut pyramids disappeared.
I am reflecting on the Groundnut Pyramids of Kano and I’m wondering; would we be able to recreate something like this again?

Business › Re: 5 Important Business Lessons I Learnt From Lagos Danfo Drivers by bosunjohns(m): 7:47pm On Jul 03, 2015 |
liveyourlife: https://techcabal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danfo-conductor-main_1.jpg
Lagos is famous for many things –for the round-the-clock hustle, whether white collar or redeye, for its crazy traffic and bustling night life, among other things. One thing that it is arguably most famous for is its flag –the bright yellow metal flag, sitting on four tyres, snaking through traffic and not forgetting to scratch any vehicle in its path; The Danfo buses.
They are furious, not necessarily fast, but furious, every single time. You see the road to your destination, they see Fury Road.
https://techcabal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Danfo-Fury_1.jpg What you see Vs. What they are
They have only one mood –rage. Road rage. But if you look past their almost non-existent customer care, there are a few business lessons you can learn connecting buses in Lagos.
A conversation about Danfo happened with Goodman and this happened.
1. If you want to be heard, you’d have to make noise, a lot of it
https://techcabal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/danfo-1_1.jpg
Forget the playboy logo on the door, this guy is not playing Danfo conductors understand this. It’s why the conductors with their husky voices still manage to create a cadence for the routes they are screaming. Sometimes you can’t even make out the words the conductor is saying but you know the route. They even get so persistent and annoying that if you were thinking about changing your mind, you’d be bullied into entering the bus, psychologically of course. You surrender.
That’s Marketing.
Persistence is key in keeping your hustle relevant. Stay rubbing it in people’s face, but politely please. You’ll be better off remembered for rubbing it in people’s faces than not being remembered at all.
2. Branding is not overrated
https://techcabal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/danfo-driver-fresh-Credit-Hadassah-Egbegi_1.jpg
A lot of the time, better dressed drivers and conductors get addressed more politely by passengers than their singlet-wearing or bare-chested colleagues. It’s for one reason –packaging. Facts only.
“The difference between kpekere and plantain chips is packaging”. That’s a legit contemporary proverb. I mean, looking at where BRT buses are now, there’s only one reason we aren’t calling them Molue yet – packaging. And branding too.
Your client’s perception of you is very important. You visit five bars. Four tell you they are Bartenders. One says he’s a Mixiologist. Tell me, who are you going to remember tomorrow?
https://techcabal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/BRT_1.jpg I mean
3. There’s always a new way to get to the next bus stop
LOL.
Whether they have to climb culverts, or take the BRT lane, or pass secret streets even Google Maps can’t find, Danfo drivers are willing to get to their destinations by any means necessary (Do not try this in the presence of LASTMA). They are never satisfied with sitting in one spot in traffic. Never.
That’s being open to new innovative ways of doing stuff. Deep down, we love the driver that’ll get to our bus stops the quickest.
Same with the people we hire. We hate it when our tailor says “there was no light, that’s why I didn’t sew the cloth you dropped for two weeks for the wedding you have tomorrow.”
Dear Tailor, ever heard of generators?
4. The Danfo Team hate it, but they pay their dues, everyday.
At every bus stop, there’s an angry looking man waiting to collect a ‘tax’ from bus. The drivers pay it grudgingly, every single time. It saves time, and maybe the losses that come with a revolt, like a missing side mirror, or shattered windscreen, or a black eye.
You need to understand that sacrifices will be made. Never forget.
5. Lastly,
Look outside on your way back home. You’ll see a conductor hanging to the bus. Whether the driver is going fast or slow, whether it’s a smooth road or it has Super Mario type of ditches, he holds on tightly. That’s because his dinner, and even more, his life depends on it.

Business › Re: Financial Mistakes That Almost Wasted My First Five Years Of Work! by bosunjohns(m): 1:58pm On Jul 03, 2015 |
dearpreye: A colleague and I were chatting this afternoon as we were having our break. And we discussed how far we have come, financially. We've not done too well. As we talked on, we all agreed we made certain financial Mistakes that are responsible for our present financial status. We didn't arrive there by error; certain errors are responsible, and it's these I intend to share with us. Maybe we can learn a thing or two.
Inadequate financial literacy: It took me over 3 years to even understand how money works. All I did was to get my salary, spend it and desperately waited till another comes and the cycle never ended. Most of us do not really understand how money works, and our educational system never even dared to give us a crash course on money. We were simply bombarded with Fourier Series, Calculus and other theorems that do not really matter in the real scheme of life. Life is totally different. Money has rules and till we actually understand them, we won't do well financially.
Impulse Spending: This one is a killer. Most people are aware of this medium of waste. Practise this act and you're damn sure of being in lack. This was one major weakness I HAD. Not anymore. I've bought countless things purely on impulse. I didn't think through; I just bought. And the consequences of impulsive spending is poverty or lack. Now, I buy things when it's absolutely necessary. Emotions are a major factor when it comes to money. And the poor are always emotional when it comes to money. The rich have mastered their emotions. They only spend money when they want to meet their NEEDS. Only the poor and thieving politicians throw away money.
Indiscipline: To be rich requires work. Hard work. And the poor are averse to hard work. It takes a lot of discipline to follow a budget. I hardly followed my budget then. It takes a lot of discipline to think on the appropriate means to make more money. The poor only likes spending. And spending doesn't involve much work. Just dole out the cash and it's gone. It takes discipline to keep money. I lacked it too.
Inability To say NO : This was one major financial flaw I had back then. I can't recall ever saying NO anyone's financial demands. That was a fatal character flaw. You can't be wealthy meeting all of people's needs. I've practically taken loans to meet people's needs. Their needs never end. Now I know better. I still give but I won't hesitate to say NO if I have to. I've got to be true to myself. To be rich is to be sincere and prudent with money.
Especially when it comes to relatives and even.loved ones, one can hardly say NO. I had to work on myself. In the past years, it's being others before I. Now, no more. We erroneously believe people will die if we don't always meet their needs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Last December, I sincerely asked my parents to bear with my inability to meet their demands. They're still live and kicking. Even if you're there, people will live on. That's life. I know our African culture requires we shoulder others problems but there's clearly a limit, and we must endeavour to strike a balance. Keep spending the cash on them, and you're tagged a GOOD MAN. You will remain poor as far as you wanna be a good man. Good men are almost always poor
Careless giving: There have been countless times I've given out money immediately I saw some people. I just thought they needed. It's very good to give, but it must be done with wisdom. Money shouldn't be spent anyhow. Giving must be meaningful and purposeful. Now, I know better.
Trying To Impress Others: Sometimes we do it even without knowing. I've done this a few times. It's a terrible habit. We need to live realistic lives. And we must live within our means. It's stupid to live an exaggerated life so as to impress some people. It's epic foolishness. Oftentimes those we intend to impress hard notice us. Why the bother? It another habit of the poor to try to give people a false sense of their financial status. Now, I don't give a hoot. I simply live MY life. Anyone can make their conclusions; it's their business.
Lack of Project: My first give years were indeed experimental. The errors are so depressing. Money must go somewhere. Nature abhors vacuum. Something must take your money. Since I didn't have my projects taking the money, others simply get me theirs. Wicked people. U go blame them? No. Blame me. Now, I've a lot of projects ongoing and I barely have enough for my self and loved ones, let alone OTHERS. No more vacuum.
Not Involving My Woman: Ego has hardly paid any man. It has caused more pain than it has given joys. I didn't actively involve my woman in my finances those years. Now I do. Women can be an oasis of wisdom. Mine is a bundle of financial wisdom. I've hardly listened to her. I used to just her the family upkeep and limited her foray. Now, she plays a crucial role in decision making and the results have been excellent.
If we don't make deliberate and conscious efforts at money, we won't be rich. If I understood these principles before now, I would have certainly being in a better position finally. This I know.
We need to start taking money seriously. When the chips are down, we're all left on our own. No one can eternally shoulder your problems. We need to be smart with our money. It hardly comes without effort. Why spend it without effort? Be disciplined. Enjoy with tomorrow in mind. It comes so fast. Without financial discipline, we will be stuck in the rat race forever. The rich are highly disciplined when it comes to money. They hardly give it away. That's why we hate them. We tag them as miserly and stingy. They simply understand how money works.
It's never too late to begin doing the right thing. Now, I hardly fall into these death traps. Take your financial future seriously. Work. Save. Invest. Give. Apply wisdom.
Please, avoid these financial Mistakes. Follow them, and lack is sure. It takes a lot of discipline to be rich; that's why many are poor.
To be poor is the easiest thing to achieve in life. You do nothing to be poor. Just find excuses. And excuses abound. You don't need to look far. |
Career › Re: Three Habits That Will Keep You Permanently As An Employee. by bosunjohns(m): 8:10pm On Jul 02, 2015 |
Truckpusher: There are three habits that will constantly keep you as an employee even when you could have done more and become your own boss and boss people around with the green back rolling into your account as if it is nothing but once we are clinging to these type of habits when it comes to our source of livelihood we usually give adventure and perseverance the back seat of our life and here they are laid bare for you pause, think and ponder about your dreams and the dreams of another man, which one of them is more important?
(1)Youthful exuberance, Enthusiasm,Go get it done attitude and Always be the best.
A young graduate that lands a job with blue chip company or an outfit seems to have arrived and his dreams has finally come through and if there is one thing that has given him this new change in status, it is this job - This individual might likely spend all his entire time thinking and planning on how to become the best employee ,grow in the system and make use of this opportunity to become richer under the same outfit over the years. They will work very hard abandoning every other opportunity that isn't shiny like the very one they comfortably sit on but wait a minute; you're still an employee and you're simply making another man's dream to come through - How about your own dreams ,after all, every man has a dream too.I am not saying that one shouldn't work hard as an employee but don't work too hard and abandon your own dreams.
(2) I Can't abandon all these benefits and try being my own man, at least not now You have now grown in the system over the years and the money is good and keep reeling in and your position in this outfit is guaranteed hence your hard work has paid off , you have free medical care and a travel itinerary that will run twice a year for any country of your choice on a tight schedule because your outfit needs you more, you begin to see the price you're paying when you begin to see the good ,the bad and the ugly people of your outfit and sometimes you just want to walk away but you can't because you're afraid to leave all these goodies behind, you don't have time to do anything else because over the years you've become a valuable asset and you simply do not own your life anymore ,even family life could be affected but here you are working to achieve another man's dream, you really wanted to leave but the fear of the unknown keeps you around and you're always afraid of what awaits you outside the comfy office you sit everyday churning out results for another man to build his own dreams, after all the money is coming in but now you've seen this money and it hasn't changed anything because your dream is still your dream and it haunts you sometimes but you've refused to let go - Is your dream that unimportant ? and again don't you think you would have achieved more than these benefits and rewards if you were your own boss?
(3) I can't pursue my dream(s) anymore - time has gone with your age. Finally you've spent your entire productive age working your ass off for another man to achieve his dreams and age is no longer on your side, your dreams reflects across your mind every now and then but it seems to be more intense now that retirement is around the corner but you're too fragile, tired and cranky to try out any new idea due to the number of years you've spent as an employee doing just one thing and now you no longer have the zeal and enthusiasm to pursue your own dream vigorously but deep inside you this is what you have always wanted to be but this your job took all that away. And here you are a man that never lived his dream.
These three major scenario has completely left gurus of entrepreneurship, business tycoons and ideologists on the employee bench for life, churning out fantastic results for another man to build his own dream ,so I am charging each one and everyone of us today with a dream to sit down and ponder as you resume for work this morning and ask yourself again - Am I doing this job at the expense of my own dream(s) and begin to do the right thing now and become your own boss. You can never be rich and be influential by being an employee all your life unless you become the man who calls the shot. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Interview Not Successful? How To Deal With Rejection When Applying For A Job by bosunjohns(m): 3:28pm On Jul 02, 2015 |
eazydon: A couple of weeks ago I went for a job interview. I had worked my little socks off preparing. I knew the organization, the job and my own credentials inside out, upside down and back to front. I had done my confidence-boosting spiel in front of the mirror, I looked good, I felt good. Tick, tick, tick. To top it all off the interview went like a dream. We’ll let you know by Friday, the panel beamed. I skipped out of the building. I felt as light as a feather, like I was walking on air, swimming in a sea of calm. I was already planning my celebratory night out.
Friday came and went. So did Monday and Tuesday. My confidence wavered, trembled, shook and, come Wednesday, finally stumbled off the precarious stool it had been foolishly prancing on: “The decision has been a difficult one, we had many well qualified candidates and this was a very competitive recruitment process. After careful consideration we regret to inform you that your application has been unsuccessful.” Game over.
Now I’m a pretty resilient person and have faced my fair share of rejection. I was rejected by my university the first time I applied. My love for my first proper, non-celebrity crush was painfully unrequited. My products and bids on eBay are never successful and, as a writer, the vast majority of my work is never read, let alone rejected. However, this latest addition to the list was exceptionally hard to swallow. Rejection during the preliminary stage of a hiring process, i.e. when there are hundreds of CVs to choose from, is fine and dandy. Equally, should you decide not to hire someone when it’s patently clear that they’ve neither brushed up on the position nor the employer, well that’s just fairenoughski. BUT, when they’ve met you, you’re qualified and, to top it all off, you’ve prepped to the extreme…well, that’s just mean.
Whether you had your heart set on a job, on a person or on a pair of Silverbird Cinema tickets, realising that your best simply wasn’t good enough is a difficult truth to face up to. So, how do you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back on that grumpy pony in one smooth, seamless action?
Behold, the 5 Bauer pearls of wisdom:
1) Get clean and unwind. Stop whatever you’re doing. I don’t care if you’re at work, hiking through Sambisa or are in an important meeting with your yogi. You find yourself a bathroom. You get in that tub and soak yourself in a bubble bath until your body is like a maxed-out sponge. In the absence of a tub, indulge in a long, hot shower accompanied by some nice-smelling body wash and music. Slip into something comfortable (no dingy sweats though), stick a food product courtesy of any fast food you know (or just something you like) in the oven and crack open your tipple of choice. Have an evening of just unwinding with whatever you find relaxing, whether that’s Tinsels, listening to your favourite music or starting the book you’ve had on your nightstand for weeks.
2) Get closure. If your interviewer is willing to give feedback on why you didn’t get the job, prise it out of them. Have the temerity to ask why that second date never turned into a third (as ever, erring on the side of not being a psychopath). As well as being constructive this should also help you see the potential upsides of not having got what you wanted.
3) Be kind to yourself. This doesn’t mean eating 100 cups of Mr Bigg’s ice cream every day or buying those surround sound speakers you’ve been lusting after. It means not pressuring yourself to re-initiate your quest all guns blazing. In the case of job-hunting, this means starting small. Rather than being glued to my laptop searching like a maniac for 6 hours straight (been there, done that, got the T-Shirt), I prefer to set myself a couple of realistic targets each day. This could be mapping out my contacts, reshaping my CV or making a list of publications I’d like to approach. I also regularly allow myself something that makes me happy or boosts my self-esteem; a haircut, cinema outing or long, lingering midweek lunch. Things move slower but in the long run I have more energy and confidence, meaning that I’ll be fully charged and ready to go whenever the next great opportunity arises.
4) Find a theme song. Everyone should have an anthem for their particular quest, a song that really speaks to you but also acts as a little pick-me-up whenever you stumble off your own precarious stool. It should be a song that pumps you up when you’re feeling deflated rather than tempt you to wallow. That means no Everybody Hurts, I Know It’s Over or Without You. Great songs, bad anthems.
5) Have your champion on standby. Although you’re obviously the sassiest, most disgustingly confident person in the universe, rejection is tough for everyone. It’s also 118.2% harder to swallow when you’re handling it alone. I’m a firm believer in everyone having a champion, someone who is there to pick you up no matter what, remind you of how great you are and of how far you’ve come. It could be your partner, friend, mother, or pet, whatever, just get one. And, more importantly, be their champion in return.
Please share your ideas too on what has helped you overcome rejection at interviews and any order success stories you may have!

Politics › Re: Presidency Orders VC, Registrar To Refund Salaries’ Overpayment by bosunjohns(m): 7:29pm On Jun 29, 2015 |
Ohammadike: The Presidency, through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, has directed the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, to refund over-payment of salaries running into millions of naira.
The Registrar of the university, David Suowari, was also directed to refund cumulatively the sum of N130,692.71 per month in excess of his due salary.
The over-payments were said to have been discovered during the commission’s visit to the institution on May 12, 2015 to carry out inspection of FUO’s remuneration practices vis-a-vis the extant government’s pay policy.
The VC and the Registrar were accused of appropriating certain allowances to themselves that were not approved by the government.
These concerns were raised in a letter from NSIWC to Aluko, signed for the Chairman of the Commission by the Director of Compensation, Chike Ogbechie.
The commission said, “The findings of the inspection in respect of your institution (Federal University, Otuoke) were as follows:
“The Vice-Chancellor was being paid total emoluments of N1,970,476.76 monthly, whereas he should not earn more than N922,810.23 if he were paid furniture allowance en bloc earlier, or N1,043,176.79 if he were being paid furniture allowance.
“Much of the difference was attributed to certain allowances which were not approved by the government.”
In the case of the Registrar, the commission said the Registrar was being paid N130,692.71 in excess of his due salary of N502,580.25.
The commission also said the university disaggregated its staff salaries, against government’s policy of pay consolidation. The NSIWC, therefore, directed the university to stop “the wrongful practices” and comply with relevant rules and rates. The commission added, “We hereby direct the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar to refund the cumulative overpayments made to them.

Fertilenigeria: Adsense is a Google advertising programme that has helped a lot of bloggers worldwide (including me). I have not earned a lot from adsense like others, but I have seen nothing less than 200 thousand naira every month from the program (evidence in the screen shots below). That's why I want to share what I know to you.
This is how to get adsense account fast.
If you do not have adsense account, follow these steps (or they will not approve you).
The faster way (not recommended) (1) Signup and create account in youtube.com (2) Use your phone and capture a video (3) Upload the video to youtube (4) Monetize the video
They will approve a (hosted) adsense account for you. You will only be able to show ads on Google partner websites like , hubpages, youtube etc.
The Best Way (Recommended) (1) Create a blog (Fully Self Hosted blog) on Wordpress or Blogger (with your custom domain) (2) Publish about 30-50 original articles with at least 400-600 words each (Don't use any image unless you own or created them. (3) make sure you have the following on your blog: Privacy policy page, about me page, search, categories, tags, archives, menu, popular post. (4) Pray to God so that they will accept you at first application. (5) Apply for Adsense
God willing, they will approve your application at first attempt. But if you are not, don't be discourage, continue to update your blog with original contents and apply again after sometimes. Sure, you will get it.
Now you know how to get adsense account in both the easy way and the best way.
In the next training, I will teach you here how to make money from your adsense account. |
Properties › Re: Ask All Your Questions On Building Foundations/structural Issues -expert by bosunjohns(m): 11:32am On Jun 26, 2015 |
opalu: I have been involved in the structural corrections of more than 1,250 buildings that were wrongly built in the past 10 years. In all, I have discovered the major reasons why buildings fail structurally are 1. Lack of professionals on the project. The some sub reasons that owners give are that they don't have money to pay them since their charges are avoidable. And also that they themselves have ideas about buildings etc. When there are no professionals on the project, such project will not have the necessary CORRECT designs/drawings. Such projects won't have the right professionals Supervising the Construction Process. 2. Another major reason for Structural failure and foundation issues is the use of substandard materials. These include reinforcements, Sharp sands, Granites, Cement even Water etc. So many Rebars being used can easily cut or rust. Water that contains impurities is not safe for concrete a since those impurities attack the concrete. (Chemistry 101). A Man wanted quote one day and I gave him. But he went for one desperate Contractor who used filling sand to cast concrete! After 6 months, the suspended slab (decking) started vibrating like water bed. I was also called upon and i corrected it at a cost 3 times the cost to build a solid slab. In addition, using the same size of granite (coarse aggregate ) can weaken the concrete. 3. Another reason for failure in buildings is the use of wrong methodology in construction. For instance there is a method whereby wet concrete is vibrated in order to expel voids and holes inside. If you are using pole vibrator, it has to be poked into it left in there for brief interval and removed and poked somewhere else. Some quack roadside casters just use stick to shook here and there or hit here and there. Even if the vibrating machine is used wrongly, it will trap voids. Every construction work has best practice that if not followed, the result will be bad. Another example is that when a carpenter lays the 1x12 for first floor slab, every hole between the planks must be covered with well sliced cement bags nailed with tiny nails. This should be done before laying of reinforcement. Reason being that when casting is done, the wet concrete usually slip through those holes thereby weakening the lower part of the slab which is subjected to tensile stress. But due to the leakage of the concrete at that bottom, what plasterers usually do is to fill it with mortar before plastering suffix of slab. But don't forget that the reinforcement were exposed before. So structurally, the bottom reinforcement is nonexistent. So when there are tensile forces, the slab cannot withstand them and what do you get? CRACKS!!! Then your fine POP starts cracking, blocks starts detaching at first floor and even crack etc.
Let me stop and await your questions. |
Webmasters › Re: Checklist For Starting A Successful Blog From Scratch by bosunjohns(m): 2:21pm On Jun 24, 2015 |
tutusaint: Over the years I have created a lot of blogs. Most of them are profitable and some of them didn’t bring me even a penny. During the last 5 years, I have seen so many changes in the blog design, creating content and Google updates. If I analyze the profitable blogs that I built over the years, I noticed that I carefully followed a checklist. If you are setting up a new blog, here’s the most comprehensive checklist you can use to start a successful blog from scratch. Do you really need a checklist for starting a new blog? Well, yes if you want to go in the right direction of creating a successful blog that actually makes money.
Before we begin, for beginners, I highly recommend using WordPress over any other blogging platform. It’s fast, reliable and secure. You will also have access to thousands of plugins and themes so you don’t have to be tech savvy to manage your blog. If you want to create a blog that matters, you definitely need a solid blog setup checklist that will increase the chances of making your blog a success. So are you ready? Let’s jump into the details. What’s your blog about? Before thinking to launch a new blog, imagine your ideal blog reader. If you don’t know who you’re actually helping with your blog, you will never succeed. It doesn’t matter whether you are blogging for money or fun, you need to find “target audience” for your blog. Once you know who you are targeting, it becomes easy for you to create top notch contents and drive more traffic to your blogs. Here’s a great guide on finding target audience for your blog.
What’s your monetization strategy? Building a profitable blog that makes money is not really hard if you have a clear strategy about the type of monetization strategies you want to use. Most beginners fail to make money blogging because they don’t create a monetization strategy. They mostly consider blogging as fun and they don’t put serious efforts in building targeted audience. That’s why they fail to make money or they end up making peanuts from their blogging efforts.
Create a successful content creation strategy Great content is the key to building a highly successful blog. Just don’t rehash content in your niche, write problem solving contents that your audience love to connect with you. Make sure to find great blog post ideas by using tools like Moz Open Site Explorer or Buzzsumo. Don’t write what you think will go viral, write what your audience really wants to read. After all, successful blogging is all about caring your readers. You can also use surveys to take feedback from the readers who are relevant to your blog’s topic. Also find a consistent blog posting frequency and stick to it. Create blog posts in advance and schedule them according to your blogging frequency to build a loyal readership around your blogs.
Create a list of bloggers in your niche One of the most important factors that make or break any new blog is this: your connections with other bloggers. If no one knows you, you’re going to fail miserably. Start building connections with other bloggers, create a list of 30 to 50 bloggers in your niche before launching a blog.
Why should you create a list of relevant bloggers in your niche? To leave blog comments: Blog commenting is the easiest way to get to know other bloggers. If you leave thoughtful comments on other blogs, you will get more traffic and you’ll also building links to your sites (even if they are of no-follow). They help you quickly index your blog posts. To write guest posts: To rank higher for any keyword you are targeting, you need quality links from other sites. Without having links, you simply can’t rank for a keyword by having a new blog. If you don’t rank higher for keywords, you won’t be able to generate any traffic from search engines. So make sure to write quality guest posts for others in your niche to quickly build good links. To connect with them on social media: Social media is the new SEO. If you are a beginner, social media sites like Facebook, twitter can help you increase your blog traffic. Write great headlines and you will attract more people to read your blog posts. If you are connecting with top bloggers in your niche and if they somehow like your posts and tweet about them, you will get a ton of traffic that will impact your overall SEO. To build strong relationships: Relationships with other bloggers go a long way. Even if you want to spread your brand awareness offline, you can use your online connections. So start considering blogging as a way to grow your name instead of thinking it just as a money making source. Decide 3 topics you are really passionate about The most common question I get from new bloggers is, “what do I blog about?”. If you’re also one among them, this article helps you.
My suggestion for any new blogger is to pick any 3 topics that you absolutely love to talk about. Think about any 3 topics that you are really passionate to blog about (even if your efforts are not bringing you money or traffic). It’s easier to build a profitable blog if you spend quality time on crafting great contents.
3 essential elements you must not ignore #1. Pick a memorable domain and use the best web hosting I know choosing a good domain name is really hard. If you’re on a limited budget, getting a great domain name for your blog is almost impossible. Here are few solid tips for getting a domain name that matters. Pick a domain name that is easy to remember and type Avoid numbers and hyphens Always choose .com extension Search for your favorite domains on ExpiredDomains.com (and try your luck to get a great domain on a limited budget) Use domain suggestion tools like Domainr.com for finding domains quickly Web hosting is another crucial factor that will highly impact your search engine rankings as well as your website loading times. I would strongly recommend you Bluehost for all your hosting solutions. They not only give you a free domain name but they are also the most reliable leading web hosting providers. #2. An appealing design Whether you know it or not, design is the king online. If you have an appealing design for your blog, you’re already halfway succeeded in quickly grabbing attention of the first time visitors. I highly recommend Elegant themes if you want to get your hands on a large number of themes at a low price.
#3. Must-have plugins There are over 20,000 plugins available on WordPress directory. WordPress is known for its plugins. Here are few plugins I’d recommend. Akismet (to stop spam comments) Easy WP SEO (to write search friendly posts) Contact Form 7 (to easily create contact page) Long tail Pro (to find long tail keywords to increase your search traffic) XML sitemaps (to create a sitemap for your blog to quickly index your posts by Google)
Absolutely essential pages you need to include on your blog About page: Without having an about page, how can someone even know who you are and what you like. Make sure to create an about page before even launching the blog and tell your readers how can you serve them. Most beginners write all fluff on their about pages. Make your about pages about your readers, not you!
Services/products page: If you want to build a profitable blog, make sure to include service page or hire me page from day 1 on your blog. Offering services through your blog (like content writing, logo design or anything you can offer) is the quickest way to make money from blogging.
Contact page: This is a must. Provide your contact page at the top or bottom of your blog where your readers or visitors can easily find your contact page to get in touch with you. Final touches to your blog So far, we’ve discussed about a lot of essential things from creating target audience to installing few must have plugins on your blog. Now, we’ll talk about few more things that matters a lot for launching your blog.
Attention grabbing logo: Use site like Fiverr to get amazing logos for your blog for just $5. A great logo is a must if you want to create a professional design for your blog to attract more audience. Try to include a tagline for your blog in your logo design to make it easy for readers to understand what your blog is about at first glance.
Set up social media accounts: Once you set up your blog, create social media links on Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ etc. Try to name the pages on social media sites similar to your blog name to get prominent results for your blog on Google search results.
Add Google Analytics: If you want to find out where your visitors are coming, you need to add Google analytics to your blog. Setting it up is easy by following this guide.
Build an email list from day 1: If you want to make more money from your blog, you need to create a lot of passive income streams. To get it done, you need a thriving email list. Every top affiliate marketer and blogger in any industry makes majority of their money using their email lists. So start building email list from day 1 if you want to make money blogging even when you sleep.
Make sure your blog is both mobile and search friendly: After mobile-friendly update from Google, every website owner is now more focused on making their blog design mobile responsive. If you don’t want to lose traffic from mobile visitors, make sure to create a mobile friendly site. Search engine friendly design includes faster loading pages, mobile responsive and better navigation.
Final thoughts about the checklist for starting a new blog From my experience, I can say that, to create successful blog from scratch, you need a solid blueprint (I call it as a blog setup checklist). And you MUST follow a proper checklist if you are starting a brand new blog. Why? The reason is simple, by following a blog setup checklist, you will know what to do and most importantly what NOT to do. By having an ultimate checklist for starting a brand new blog, you can create better content, drive more visitors from search engines and create long lasting relations with other bloggers in your niche. So what do you think? Do you find this checklist useful for starting a successful blog from scratch? If you have any questions, shoot them up in the comments below and I’d be glad to respond. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How To Build Confidence When Going For An Interview by bosunjohns(m): 6:35pm On Jun 22, 2015 |
LaurelP: Some people find it difficult maintaining confidence and composure during interviews, even when they prepared well. To this kind of people, its more of a mental issue.
I just wanna give some tips based on my own experience for those faced with this problem. It may not be a total solution, but I'm sure if you practice them well, you'll improve. Interviews are like any other experience in life, you get better by practicing and going for interviews. Maintaining confidence is an inside and outside challenge. U want ur outside appearance to project self-assurance and u also want to feel it on d inside too.
1. A confident Smile: a smile projects confidence. The right way is to smile hard, and then relax it just a little. D corners of ur mouth shud be turned up slightly, but not too much. Practice it over d mirror!
2. A firm handshake: Having a good, firm handshake also communicates confidence. A gud handshake shud be firm but not rib cracking. No girly, end of finger grab, or too stiff. Hold for a count of 3 then release.
3. Steady Eye Contact: Eyes are d window to a person's soul. Eye contact shud be steady but not searing. It shud be long enuf to come across as interested and confident, but not so long that the other person feels stared at. Its fine to break eye contact for a brief period and return again.
4. Listen attentively before answering: Some people are usually in a rush to form answers in dia head even when the question is still being asked. Dis is a bad listening skill. U shud wait for the question to be completed and understand it fisrt before answering.
5. Look and smell good: No overgrown hair, unironed clothes, dirty shoes, mouth odor, etc. All these make you loose confidence in yourself and affect your performance. You must have at least 2 good interview outfits in your wardrobe.
6. Practice self talk: Remind yourself that interviews are just a discussion and not do or die. Tell urself that u are prepared, u will do well, u will be fine.
7. See if you can discover a problem with the company: In my last interview, I told dem dat d company is loosing a lot of money becos they're not active on d social media. I explained to them and they were like woow! Dat was what gave me the job! Try if u can see a problem dat the company has and blow it out of proportion! They will employ u.
NB: These tips will work wonders only if you have already taken your time to prepare and also research the company.

LET OTHERS SEE JESUS IN YOU
1. While passing thro’ this world of sin, And others your life shall view, Be clean and pure without, within, Let others see Jesus in you.
Let others see Jesus in you,... Let others see Jesus in you,... Keep telling the story, be faithful and true, Let others see Jesus in you.
2. Your life’s a book before their eyes, They’re reading it thro’ and thro’; Say, does it point them to the skies, Do others see Jesus in you?
3. What joy ’twill be at set of sun, In mansions beyond the blue, To find some souls that you have won; Let others see Jesus in you.
4. Then live for Christ both day and night, Be faithful, be brave and true, And lead the lost to life and light; Let others see Jesus in you. |
Webmasters › Re: How Webmasters Can Make Money By Shortening Urls by bosunjohns(m): 9:03am On Jun 20, 2015 |
enijohn: There are various methods webmasters use to earn money with their website but I assure you that less than 40% knows this. I will just explain this below.
http://p.pw/bafdQi provides a way to earn money just by shortening (or shrinking) URLs.
I will highlight the steps to take below in order to achieve this:
1. Visit http://p.pw/?id=258095&utm_source=referrer&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=referral or http://p.pw/baf1K5 2. Then sign up for an account 3. Then you will see a textbox enter any your website URLs in the box and click shrink. 4. Copy the new URL then and include it on your web page and publish in on social media.
Everyone that visit the new URLs will just have to wait for 5 seconds, then click on skip ad.
After this, your account will be credited and your visitor will redirected to your website. You may shorten every URLs on your web page and replace them with the new link. Since your visitor will get to their original destination.
http://forum.ejaworld.cf also uses that technique. |

Webmasters › Re: 10 Smart Ways To Dominate Google’s Top 10 Search Result by bosunjohns(m): 11:49am On Jun 19, 2015 |
360crest: 1 , 2 , 3 …. 10 who don’t want to be on Google’s top ten?. Its your dream as such as mine, to rank for a specific search term in Google top ten.
Infact ranking in top ten is your main reason of doing SEO and implementing the so called 201 Google webmaster rules.
Let’s analyse – when last was it you went to google hit a search phrase and hit the next?
Hardly right?
Every one is almost contented with the first page. But trust me, every one is fighting for the front page, and that’s one reasons every one would pay for the front page.
Well here is a few reasons there is hope for you , a buddy, who’s lunching , and is planning to rank the first page within one year.
There is no ideal ranking, and ranking could change ( Even though Page Rank, is ideal for a certain amount of time) The Market Gets more competitive, and just any new blog could rank.
Before now, you could run a search tag on Email Marketing software, and with no doubt, you would see aweber at the first line of the first page.
But sorry things changed come one, run the search tag your self and tell me what you see. That been said, here are 10 smart ways to dominate Google’s top 10 search result
1. Keyword Research
Doing keyword research keeps you focus, and hopeful. Try run a keyword research on Lenovo smartphone specification, and lenovo smartphone specifications – did you notice the difference ?
Lenovo smartphone specification – 1,500 monthly search Lenovo smartphone specifcations – 20,000 monthly search
Juts a “s” is what makes a difference. Certainly you could be loosing 100% of your suppose ranking using the wrong keyword research.
2. Keyword Optimization The one thing you get forgetting is that, Your keyword should be in the first line, the url and the title of your article amd in the image. Forget about the over keyword population density bull shit, things works in a different perspective, so does this.
The Keyword descriptive tag is 157 words, been natural, you could add , rankable keyword in accordance to your post to get a rank. ( I mean Long tail keyword)
please note :- I didn’t make reference on short tail keyword like smartphone, mobile phone , cell phone provider !! Dull !! I said – Long tail keywords.
3. Learn from Google top ten result
Just take a time out, study the real market, how it works . Maybe before posting an article about smartphone say; samsung Galaxy s4, you make a google search on the keyword – samsung Galaxy s4 . First result – Image Gallery Second – a Link to Video Third – review Forth – specification Fifth – related report
Don’t you think its high time to bring something new ? Say an infographics. Or perhaps a PDF downloadable file.
I tell you, you only get ranked when you a making a difference, almost every one would go for samsung galaxy s4 specification. But not for something unusual. Come on do the search up your self, and tell me if you see , any thing samsung galaxy s4 specification twice on the front page .
4. Search engine optimization.
Make your title short – 60 words is enough Make your article lengthy 2k – 5k words Add Images with alt tags,
Keyword in url,Meta description shouldn’t be more than 156 words ( for mobile optimization) 160 for PC.
5. Use Google Plus
Google plus is one bonus way any could rank the front page for every logged in users on google, by simply sharing relevant articles on the social network (google plus).
All you need do is register google plus, make shares and always hash tag relevant keyword to meet up with relevant search tags on google it self.
6. Try other Means There is no strict science that says its inapplicable to do one thing in a million ways.
So trying others means like, creating a video presentation in place of a written text isn't a bad ideal.
7. Don’t give reference to your Keen competitor
“A servant can’t be more than his master”, so you can’t be more than does you are giving reference to.
Make sure while writing you write if you really need to.
And not because you feel people would love this update on my blog.
8. Spy the google top ten search result
Its simple – you could use the google keyword planner tool, and when asked for search type – choose landing page, insert any of the top ten search result url, to see a list of search tag they are currently ranking for.
9. Get specific url link from blogs in the Top Ten
let’s assume you wanna rank for a search tag like samsung galaxy s4 All you need is a url link from top sites already ranking on that keyword to yours. One way to do this is by commenting on related blog, but this time when asked for website. Use a specific website url e.g shoutershub.com/ samsung-s4 as a linking channel.
10. Ping your site
No time to waste time - when you make your post, ping if on google for faster index in the top 10 I recommend pingler.com as a better ping tool. To get your content index easily and very fast.
Hope I Made my point ?
