HealthRe: 23 Benefits Of Lemon Water You Should Never Miss! by bosunjohns(m): 12:59pm On Sep 18, 2015
billtommy:
A glass of lemon water to start your day could keep the doctor away…

Why do I say that?

Because according to Hippocrates “All disease begin in the gut” and modern research has been conclusive that an unhealthy gut leads to a myriad of diseases like diabetes and obesity.

Drinking this in the morning helps your gut by stimulating the production of hydrochloric acid, a critical ingredient needed by our stomach to digest and expel waste because it is rich in vitamin C.

And guess what? There are 28 more benefits that I want to share with you.

As recently as a few years ago, I would start my day by drinking a cup of coffee to “wake myself up”.

It was a habit that lasted around 7 years until I replaced coffee with juice this year.

I did not know that too much caffeine can lead to an early death so I had to cut it off my regular diet.

I heard about the benefits of drinking lemon water in the morning through my wife’s friend who was also into juicing, she told us about how good it is for our digestive system so I decided to research on this and found out it had even more benefits so I thought it was proper to share this with you.

I have to admit, I still drink coffee but only on occasion when I’m with friends but it is nowhere near the amount I was drinking before which was about two large cups a day.

Anyway back to the topic…

1. A Post-Workout Drink
If you are tired of spending a fortune on Gatorade, this recipe that includes lemon, lime, water, sea salt, and honey/natural sugar could be a good and more affordable alternative.
One thing people don’t realize when they workout is that their body becomes very acidic after an intense workout. Lemon is a great neutralizer of that high acidity inside your body.

Tip: You can also replenish loss fluids during workouts by drinking lemon water instead of just plain water to improve muscle endurance (particularly for running).

2. Alkalizes the Body
Nutritionists like Gareth Edwards say that has a great alkalizing effect on the body because “minerals in it disassociate to make it alkaline” as it gets absorbed by the body.
Even though lemon is acidic by nature, when it enters the bloodstream, “the alkalizing salts override the presence of acids” during the metabolic processes that happens when it enters the bloodstream.

3. Asthma Treatment
Lemon has been listed in countless home remedies lists as one of the best natural treatments for asthma that’s because it is rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant that fights free radicals which causes smooth muscle contraction and airway constriction, both symptoms of asthma. It also helps clear out mucus from air vessels.

Tip: Don’t just rely on lemon for treatment, if your doctor prescribes an inhaler by all means use it just in case you have asthma attacks. Lemon is only meant to provide you with the dietary supplement you need to fight this condition.

4. Balances Blood Sugar Levels
Lemon is rich in a compound called Bioflavonoids which gives this fruit its yellow color. This same compound also naturally stimulates the production of insulin in our body that in turn balances our blood sugar levels which can help people who have diabetes.

5. Balances pH levels
When our pH level increases it means our body is becoming more acidic which makes it more prone to diseases such as high cholesterol and diabetes. A great way of balancing pH levels is drinking water infused with fresh lemon juice to alkalize the body and lowering acidity levels.

6. Brain Food
This little yellow fruit is rich in potassium which is considered brain food.

7. Caffeine Replacement
Lemon is a natural energy booster, even more so if you add honey to it. I’ve said earlier in this article that I was a chain coffee drinker who gulps down 2 large mugs a day and I’ve replaced it lemon water with no regrets whatsoever.

8. Detoxifies
If you’re haven’t heard about “The Master Cleanse”, this is basically a diet that consists of only drinking lemon water mixed with honey, cayenne pepper or maple syrup for an extended period of time.

This method may not work for everyone but I’d like to point out that this method takes advantage the citric acid present in lemon that will help flush toxins from the colon, gallbladder and liver that otherwise would be absorbed by the body.
A similar effect can be had by drinking this first thing in the morning before any meals.

9. Dissolves Phlegm
Citric acid present in lemon will dissolve phlegm. In addition to that it is rich in antioxidants like Vitamin C and K that help fight off cough and colds.

The traditional concoction involves combining lemon with warm water and honey. Warm water in a way sooths irritation (at the same time is a decongestant) caused by cough. William Sears says that honey is a very effective at dissolving phlegm, more effective than cough syrups.

10. Fights Cancer Cells
Remember about the compound Bioflavonoids I was talking about earlier, it turns out that this also works as an antioxidant that fights cell oxidation and free radical damage which are the main culprits of cancer. Theresa Chung who wrote “The Lemon Juice Diet” went as far as saying that it can help prevent cancer. It also contains pectin that according to Vijaya Kumar have been known to protect the intestines from cancer.

11. Heart Food
Potassium found in lemon is vital for the function of our heart, it does not treat any ailment but it helps in preventing heart related illnesses like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and irregular heartbeat.

12. Helps Hydrate Our Lymphatic System
According to Dr. John Douillard, the lymph system largest circulatory system in our body, twice as large as the arterial system, it is responsible for flushing out waste and toxins out of our system. Keeping it hydrated is important to our overall health.
Actually, water alone is enough to hydrate the lymph system but I added lemon here because it helps in alkalizing thus balancing acidity levels.

13. Helps Treat Constipation
This combo is great as a home remedy for constipation. Water helps lubricate the digestive system and soften stool. Citric acid found in lemon induces bowel movement that will flush out undigested waste from the colon.

14. Helps Treat Scurvy
Scurvy for those who don’t know is a disease that is a direct result of vitamin C deficiency. Sailors are most prone to this disease because of their extended mission trips on sea that often outlast their produce supply. Lemon water is the treatment of choice for this ailment because it is rich in vitamin C. Water is great as masking the sharp flavor thus allowing them to drink this concoction in large amounts.

15. Improves Digestive Health
A cup of warm water before any meal in the morning will help break down waste and flush out to toxins from the gut. That’s because at a molecular level, lemon is similar to your saliva that encourages the liver to produce bile – a fluid needed by our intestines to dispose waste and toxins.

Tip: Warm lemon water should be the first thing that goes in your stomach in the morning, before having breakfast or any other liquid.

16. Improves Eyesight
Being rich in vitamin C also has a positive effect on your eyesight as this will help prevent eye conditions like macular degeneration and cataract.

17. Improves Our Immune System
Lemons is rich in nutrients like bioflavonoids, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, citric acid, folate and pectin that boost our body’s immune system and immobilize free radicals – the cause of most ailments.

18. Increases Metabolism and Promotes Weight Loss
It is a little known fact that drinking 8 glasses of water (8 ounces per glass) each day actually boosts your metabolism or how much your body burns calories by 30%. This is based on a study done by Michael Boschmann of the Franz Volhard Research Center. Lemon adds some flavor to water which will help you drink more plus it has pectin which suppresses appetite.

Tip: Most of the pectin and dietary fiber is found in the white pity part under the skin, make sure to eat this as well.

19. Kills Worms
Parasites like worms thrive in an acidic environment by drinking something bitter like lemon mixed in water helps in flushing them out.

20. Lowers High Blood Pressure
A citrus fruit, like lemon is rich in vitamin C that helps in thinning the blood, in addition to its antioxidant properties. Another mineral found in this fruit that helps lower blood pressure is potassium that flushes out excess sodium.

Tip: if you suffer high blood pressure it is important that you keep yourself hydrated throughout the day because the lack of water tells your body to go into preservation mode which means it will hang on to every last drop of water your body has, the effect of that is thickening of the blood – another cause of high blood pressure.

21. Lowers Stress Levels
One thing that gets depleted when you’re stressed is vitamin C so the next time your stress levels go up, take a break and replenish that lost vitamin C with a cup of warm lemon water.

22. Prevents Bad Breath
It helps two ways here. First by killing the bad-breath-causing bacteria in your mouth and second, by flushing away toxins in your liver that when overworked releases bad smelling substances to the bloodstream, lungs then out the mouth.

23. Radiant Skin
Its antioxidant properties help you get more radiant skin from the inside out by repairing damaged cells, flushing out toxins and killing free radicals that can ruin our skin.

Thanks for this great info. Very timely.
kennysteve77:
Fellow Nairalanders,

With great joy in my heart I give this brief account of how the internet helped restore my baby's health and prevented possible long-term complications. My lovely eight-month old baby suddenly began having seizures few days ago. It was so severe that it worried me and her mum so much that we though it was a spiritual attack. She would suddenly stiffen her neck and shake with great energy (seemingly unconscious), and then return to normal mode in less than a minute.

It happened like 3-5 times every 15minutes. Everytime it occurred, we felt like weeping as the ever lovely baby seemed to have been strangely hijacked. We rushed to the hospital and some blood tests were recommended. On seeing the results, the Doctors quickly knew it was a brain infection coupled with Malaria. Although some of them were worried that all other symptoms of Malaria and infection were absent in the baby - no high temperature, no yellow eyes, baby actively playing and sucking. The doctors immediately commenced treatment with strong antibiotics passed directly into her bloodstream + antimalarial drugs. Twice daily she was receiving the medications but on the third day, they got more worried that there was no improvement.

My wife was drastically losing her joy while everyone else was praying. On the evening of that third day, my wife picked her phone and began an extensive research on Google.com for possible causes of such condition. She stumbled on a research paper that presented the Negative Effects of Soybean in Babies. This paper caught her attention because two days before the seizures began, she introduced Soybean into our baby's food formula (on a Doctor's recommendation). The article stated that Soybean inhibits the production of Trypsin which is very essential for infants and also triggers irregular impulse in the brain neurotransmitters thereby causing frequent seizures which, after a long period, could render the child epileptic. The paper added that the inhibition of Trypsin could lower the immune system (which could make doctors believe it to be an infection).

We immediately stopped feeding the baby with the formula but we didn't notify anyone of the finding to allow a continued treatment. By the following day, the seizures started fading and in just two days, it went away completely. We are still in awe with this discovery while we are very glad that the baby is back to normal life, but I felt - this might help someone someday.

Hello friends, 1st of all, I don't want you to see me as a man that involves third party in his marrital life/affair, am not that kind of man, in fact a lot of things go on that I rather let it stay in my home for us to sort or face together than involving family or friends but this challenge is really heavy for me to bear.

I don't really know what else to preach to her that I don't like her behavior anytime am broke ,for me it's a total turn off because it always makes me feel like am not being appreciated even with all my efforts to make us happy.

My wife nag anytime am broke or notice my pay ain't coming soon, all she does is play blame game like telling me all sort of story, like she never eat since last year, like she's not happy, that the marriage is hell because of just few days broke, and the few days broke doesn't mean no food for us, the few days broke doesn't mean I won't raise money to fuel generator talk less of some more important bills. I am just 10 months old in this marriage, please, real men in the house kindly advice me on what to do, if am the one being wrong here because I don't understand why she's always like that.

Lalasticlala I wouldn't mind front page at all because I really want to learn from all other husbands out there... Thanks

CareerRe: See How You Can Do Marketing Without Stress I by bosunjohns(m): 11:53am On Sep 07, 2015
Nnaeb:
Sell what you love

Make sure you love what you are getting on board to sell. If you take up a marketing job just to keep busy while looking for a better job, u will end up wasting your time. Passion is a key word in marketing and you can’t have passion for what you don’t love. Personally, I don’t love insurance, so I will have a difficult time selling it. But some dudes are also making it big time in insurance because they love it and it is paying off. There are so many products and services to be sold. Look for the one you love and give it your best shot.

Product knowledge

A broad knowledge of your product is vital to effective selling. Research about the product, find out the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) concerning your product. This will help you master the product at your fingertips. Also, take it a step further by carrying out a research on competing products and services. You must know the advantage they have over yours and the advantage your product has over theirs. That way when you meet with a prospective client, you put your best foot forward by emphasizing on your advantage (USP).

Define your market

Nigeria is the largest market in Africa and one of the largest in the world. However, it is not everything that will sell in Nigeria. Before you get on board to sell any product, do a personal study of the market and figure out if there is a need for it. Define the market segment and also see how readily available the market is. Is it a product for the Elite class, or low income persons, men or women, kids, youths or adults? Define your market. That something is selling in Lagos does not mean it will sell in Enugu.

Draw up a list of prospective buyers

Marketing is a field job, yes I concur. But don’t be in a hurry to hit the field without a clear direction and plan. Stay at home or in the office and draw up a list of your prospective buyers. The prospects on the list should be up to 100 at least. Also, include at five high profile prospective clients. Those ones that will give you a major breakthrough if you succeed in selling to one of them. Source for the contacts and phone numbers of the prospects either through google map, v connect, their website or ask for it.

Develop a sales script

Develop a powerful sales script that will guide your discussion with a prospect. The sales script must cover greeting, personal introduction, product introduction, request for a meeting, and some other things. Some sales consultants can help you develop one if you can’t do it yourself. But it is something you can do.

Call and arrange a meeting

I have said before that marketing is not all about getting yourself engrossed in activity and dissipating energy. That is why some persons complain about the stress. It’s funny how people just dress up from their homes and start wondering the streets of Lagos aimlessly in the name of marketing. That is not professional. Sit down and call ten prospects in a day to arrange for a meeting. Out of the ten, three persons will grant you an appointment. That way, you can plan your movement and schedules effectively. This will help you conserve energy and cut down on aimless transportation cost.

Let’s stop here at the moment. I will complete this article tomorrow. Let me not bore you with long stories cos I really want us to understand everything.

Have a great day

CareerRe: Please Help! My Boss Is Scared I Will Replace Her by bosunjohns(m): 9:20am On Sep 04, 2015
Nnaeb:
Dear JobTrends,

I am facing a very difficult time at my workplace. I landed a job fourteen months ago and the first eight months were the honeymoon period. My boss loved everything I did. I walked around feeling on top of the world. I was very innovative.

First I replaced our outdated newsletter publishing platform with a new one that is faster, cheaper and much easier to use. I cleaned out our newsletter subscriber database and used social media tools to double our newsletter subscription list.

Then I started including fun little quizzes and community discussion topics on our site and our newsletter. Our sales increased by fifteen percent. I created a “Get Started” kit for new customers. I’ve never had as much fun on a job as I had in my first eight or nine months here. Then things started to get ugly.

My boss said “You’ve made your point. Give the new ideas a break.” I was completely shocked. I thought my boss who happens to be of an opposite sex, the Head of Marketing, would want to keep moving forward fast. I thought that my new ideas would make my boss happy and they did at first, but then she said “e don do.”

I have a dozen more ideas ready to implement. The salespeople have asked me for an online customer training that they can use when they visit new customers.

Now I don’t know how to prove my value or even how to get through the day. I can’t even answer sales and customer requests intelligently because I can’t say “That’s a great suggestion, and we are working on implementing it.” I can’t say that because it isn’t true!

I haven’t spent a dime on my marketing initiatives. The only expense to the company is my salary which is not that big. I replaced a person who was paid a lot more than I get paid, because I heard it from the salespeople who were very dissatisfied with my predecessor, kemi.

Please I need your advice, what should I do? I’m completely frustrated. Can I get my boss, to let me keep doing my job or do I have to leave my job after less than a year and a half knowing how unfriendly the labor market is?

Thanks,

Christopher

PoliticsRe: Nigerian President Or King Of The North?, By Femi Fani-kayode by bosunjohns(m): 2:16pm On Sep 01, 2015
ishiamu:
In 418 B.C. Herodotus, the Greek philosopher who is known as the “father of history”, said “a man who does not know anything about the events that took place before he or she was born will remain forever a child.” Not only was he right but one must go a step further by saying that those who refuse to learn from their history are condemned to repeating its mistakes.

In 1957, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Saurdana of Sokoto and the Premier of the North, said the following: “We the people of the North will continue our stated intention to conquer the South and to dip the Koran in the Atlantic ocean after the British leave our shores.”

Three years later, on October 12, 1960, he went a step further by saying the following words to the Parrot Newspaper: “The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future”.

That same year he said: “I will allow Sir Tafawa Balewa to go and become Prime Minister and lead the unbelievers of the South whilst I will stay in the North and lead the faithful”.

One year later, in a television interview with the BBC (which can still be viewed on YouTube) he was asked whether his “Northernisation Policy” would be a temporary or permanent feature. His response was as follows. “In actual fact the policy is a northerner first. If you cannot get a northerner then you get an expatriate like yourself on contract. If we cannot get that then we will employ another Nigerian from the south on contract too. This is going to be a permanent policy as far as I forsee”.

Not to be outdone, in January 1947 on the floor of the Northern House of Assembly, Sir Tafawa Balewa, a man who was to become the first Prime Minister of Nigeria 13 years later, said the following words:

“We do not want our Southern neighbours to interfere in our development. We have never associated ourselves with the activities of these people. We do not know them, we do not recognise them, and we share no responsibility in their actions. We shall demand our rights when the time is ripe. If the British quit Nigeria now at this stage, the Northern people would continue their uninterrupted conquest to the sea”.

The passion for the total domination of the Nigerian state by the North has not in any way diminished over the years. As a matter of fact it appears to have become even more pronounced and, for some, it has become an obsession. Consider the following.

On October 2, 2014, one Aliyu Gwarzo said the following to Pointblanknews:

“When I say that the Presidency must come to the north next year I am referring to the Hausa-Fulani core north and not any northern christian or minority tribe. The Christians in the north are nothing and the minorities know that when we are talking about leadership in the north and in Nigeria, Allah has given it to us, the Hausa-Fulani. They owe us everything. This is because we gave them Islam through the great Jihad waged by Sheik Usman Dan Fodio. We liberated all these places and all these people by imposing islam on them by force. It was either the Koran or the sword and most of them chose the Koran. In return for the good works of our forefathers Allah, through the British, gave us Nigeria to rule and to do with as we please. Since 1960 we have been doing that and we intend to continue. No Goodluck or anyone else will stop us from taking back our power next year. We will kill, maim, destroy and turn this country into Africa’s biggest war zone and refugee camp if they try it. Many say we are behind Boko Haram. My answer is what do you expect? We do not have economic power or intellectual power. All we have is political power and they want to take even that from us. If they don’t want an ISIS in Nigeria then they must give us back the Presidency and our political power. Their soldiers are killing our warriors and our people every day but mark this: even if it takes one hundred years we will have our revenge. Every Fulani man that they kill is a debt that will be repaid even if it takes 100 years. The Fulani have very long memories”.

The full text of Gwarzo’s contribution can be read on Pointblanknews or elsewhere. His words are self-explanatory and they need no further analysis. Thankfully his views do not represent the thinking of the majority of Hausa Fulani people but he does speak for a dangerous and vocal minority and his words constitute a clear statement of intent. Simply put, it is his desire to conquer and subjugate Southern Nigeria and to restore northern domination and supremacy in the affairs of our nation in perpetuity.

The quest for Northern domination in the affairs of our country is as old as the hills. It led to a brutal civil war between 1967 and 1970 in which millions were killed. It led to pogrom after pogrom and slaughter after slaughter in the North. It led to a series of military coups and counter coups. In 1991, it led to a coup by Major Gideon Orkar which, if it had been successful, would have resulted in the excision of the core Northern states from our country. It led to the annulement of Chief MKO Abiola’s presidential election of June 12, 1993, which almost resulted in a second civil war.

It led to the brutal suppression of the South by General Sani Abacha and the murder, torture, incarceration and exile of many southern leaders. It led to stiff opposition to the government of President Olusegun Obasanjo in the North which came in the guise of “political sharia”. And finally it led to it’s most barbaric and hideous expression in the relentless opposition to the regime of President Goodluck Jonathan which came in the form of Boko Haram.

Judging from recent events, with President Buhari now in power it appears that those who have been lusting for total northern domination for the last 55 years have finally had their way.

The inability to think deeply or profoundly is a curse. The inability to read widely and learn from others is a pitiful and costly affliction. If there were ever a time for profound thinking and deep and sober reflection when it comes to the affairs of our nation, it is now. I say this because only three months after President Buhari has been sworn into office the power configuration, vis-a-vis North and South, has resulted in the following mess.

1. President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria – North. 2.Senate President – North. 3. Speaker of the House of Representatives – North. 4. Chief Justice of the Federation – North. 5. President of the Court of Appeal – North. 6. Chief Justice of the Federal High Court – North. 7. Secretary to the Federal Government – North. 8. Chief of Staff to the President – North. 9. Chief of Army Staff – North. 10. Chief of Air Staff – North. 11. Comptroller General of Customs – North. 12. Director-General of State Security Services (SSS) – North. 13. National Security Advisor – North. 14. Director General, NIMASA – North. 15. Chairperson of the Independant Electoral Commission (INEC) – North. 16. Comptroller-General Immigration – North. 17. Accountant-General of the Federation – North. 18. Commander of Civil Defence Corps – North. 19. Chief Security Officer to the President – North. 20. ADC to the President – North. 21. Principal Secretary to the President – North. 22. Senior Special Assistant to the President on media – North. 23. Chairman of the EFCC – North. 24. MD Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) – North. 25. Head of Service – North. 26. DG, National Communication Commission (NCC) – North. 27. Chairman NDLEA – North. 28. CEO, AMCON – North.

There is no gainsaying that this is unacceptable. Some of us warned that this would happen but we were insulted and lampooned for doing so. These appointments are not only lopsided but they are also a manifestation of the fact that in just three months southern Nigeria has finally been relegated to being little more than an occupied region and a vassal state. The people of the south appear to have been placed in servitude and bondage. Our chains may be invisible but they are very much there.

The question must be asked: is Buhari the President of Nigeria or is he the King of the North? Some have argued that the federal character formula has no place in our affairs anymore and that merit ought to be the only criteria for government appointments. Permit me to qoute a young man from twitter who responded to that absurd logic rather well by saying “if federal character isn’t important, why is the Vice President also not from Daura? Educated people should not speak like illiterates”.

Others have said that we should wait for the ministerial list and that after that things would balance out. Again this is absurd logic and those that spout such convoluted thrash appear to have forgotten the fact that the President is compelled by law and the constitution to appoint a Minister from every state of the federation, including each of the southern states.

Whether he is President of Nigeria or King of the North, Buhari would do well to retrace his steps. The consequences of not doing so for both his government and the unity of our country will be grave and costly. The south cannot be subjugated and treated with contempt and the people of the South will never be slaves. Fairness and equity in the distribution of national resources and key government appointments are a fundamental pre-requisite for peace, security and national unity in our country.

It has served our collective interest well for many years. Those who seek to upset the applecart and jettison it today are not considering the inevitable and monumental consequences of their actions. Power may have returned to the North but the people of the South must be treated with respect, sensitivity, dignity, fairness and decency. Those that refuse to accept this counsel and that insist on charting a different course do so at their own peril.

So,i mistakenly over salted our launch sometime ago,& i applied this tip.. lo & behold, the food became tasteless (all the salt in the meal dissappeared), that i have to gently add more salt to taste.

2. Do you know that you can retrieve the normal aroma of your meal when it's burnt (nri leree oku n'ike), by simply adding some slice of bread in the burnt meal inside your pot?
The bread will absorb all the burnt aroma and give
your meal its original taste.

You should indicate the location of the bar that was burgled.
This would enable those in that location to identify him more easily.

Hope he is caught.

bendike:
We woke up this on the morning of the 27th august ie yesterday to discover our guest house had been burgled. Someone scaled the fence, raided the bar. He had a drink or two and even urinated inside the empty bottles and on the leather seat at the lounge. The fellow further removed a 42 inch led tv which he then passed to an accomplice across the fence before disappearing into the night. I heard that other residences around the area were also burgled.
I here by attach available cctv footage of the thief. Note that the camera was working with night vision hence the picture is not to clear but anyone who knows the fellow will surely recognize him.
Lets expose this thief!
Kindly make this front page for wider viewing.

Nairaland GeneralI'm 19 And I Want To Be A Multi-millionaire. I Have No Work Experience, No Job by bosunjohns(op): 8:59pm On Aug 27, 2015
I'm 19 and I want to be a multi-millionaire. I have no work experience, no job, no money. I want to start my own business. What's a good field to get into?
I will answer your question from a slightly different angle.

You want multiple million dollars. Let's pick a number: $5M.

To make $5M, you have to create $50M of value.

That doesn't mean something you feel inside should be worth $50M. It means something people will actually open their wallet and pay $50M for.

Will that be 5 people paying $10M? Probably not. 50M people paying $1? You get the idea.

Think of a baseball player that makes $5M per year.

How much money does he bring in to the other people and businesses related to baseball? (ticket sales, advertising, t-shirts, beer, etc.)

The whole "do what you love" vs. "do what people want" is a big debate. I don't have time to type out all my thoughts on the subject but I will summarize:

- Read "So Good They Can't Ignore You" by Cal Newport. He makes an excellent case for why "do what you love" is misguided advice. You don't know what you might love until you get deep into it, and if you're trying to sell something you love but nobody wants to buy, you will be miserable.

- I would suggest starting with what people want the most, then narrow that to things you can provide. Not the same as things you have. Not the same as your talents. Things you can provide. The grocery store sells me cereal. I don't really care where it comes from as long as it's clean and good for me. I don't care about their talents and dreams.

- If you refuse to start with what other people want, start with all the things you love, then prioritize them by how much other people want to pay for them.

Don't ignore supply and demand.

The supply of people who love to act, sing, be famous etc. is much greater than the demand, so unless you win the fame lottery you are likely to have a tough time chasing those "dreams".

Get going!

smiley

CareerRe: 10 Things You Need To Know About Pension In Nigeria by bosunjohns(m): 12:56pm On Aug 27, 2015
Realwvn:
‎Your pension fund administrator (PFA) will take your questions and give you all the information you need to make the right choices as you prepare for life after work. Furthermore, here are 10 things you should know about your pensions before you retire.

1. What’s the due date and payment mode?

If you choose to be paid monthly, your PFA will pay your money to your bank account on or before  the 24th day of each month. You don’t have to worry about cheques or any long process. Receiving your pension will be completely convenient for you.

2. What happens in the event of death?

If one is on the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and dies either in active service or after retirement, the next-of-kin as provided by the deceased to the PFA will be contacted to provide relevant documents for processing the contributions. The contributions will be paid to the named beneficiary in the WILL of the Letter of Administration.

3. Can you change your next of kin after you retire?

This can be done at anytime. The change of personal information form will ideally be found on the website of your PFA. Download the form, fill it and submit to your PFA for actioning.

4. How much can you take at once when you retire?

As lumpsum, a retiree is entitled to an amount not less than 25% and not more than 50%. This amount is however dependent on the fact that the retiree is able to collect a monthly pensions of not less than 50% of his/her last salary (computed based on the housing, basic and transport) for a estimated period of atleast 18 years.

5. How soon can you start getting your pension after you retire?

The process of documentation actually starts six months before you retire. For FG employees they have to go for the Bond verification exercise organised by PENCOM. This exercise basically is to enable PENCOM consolidate their account and ensure their accrued rights are paid immediately they retire. For Private sector employees, your PFA has to confirm that all contributions due to you have been made. This process is called ‘consolidation of account’. After this is done, the process of actual payment should take about 3 weeks.

6. Can you choose how you want to be paid?

The programmed withdrawal means you get to choose your payment interval by yourself. You can choose to be paid your pension monthly or quarterly depending on what you think works best for you. Your PFA will be crediting your bank account according to the plan you choose.

7. Can you take from your RSA before you retire?

Yes you can withdraw for your RSA before you retire if you are out of employment for four months and you’re unable to secure another employment. You will be given 25% of your RSA balance. After this 25% has been withdrawn for your RSA, the balance cannot be touched until retirement.

However, if you choose to make additional voluntary contributions (AVC) into your Retirement Savings Account (RSA) you are entitled to withdraw from your AVC any time before retirement (it is tax free if withdrawal is after 5 years). So if you’ve been putting some AVC in your retirement account or if you start now, you too can withdraw from that at any point before you retire.

8. What happens to your balance after you withdraw your lump sum?

When you retire and take an initial lump sum from your RSA, the rest of the money will either be used to procure an annuity for you, or it will be used to fund a programmed withdrawal that pays you for an estimated lifespan of not less than 18 years…in real terms…for life.
A programmed withdrawal is a method by which the employee collects his retirement benefits in periodic sums spread throughout the length of an estimated life span.
An annuity is an income purchased from an approved life insurance company which provides monthly or quarterly income to the retiree during his/her lifetime but only the first 10 years are guaranteed meaning if the retiree dies AFTER 10 years, his/her beneficiaries get NOTHING.

9. Other than when you retire, when can you have access to your RSA?

There are special cases. For instance, if you retire before you’re 50 years old because of a mental or physical disability, your PFA will give you immediate access to your RSA. You can also claim 25% of your pensions if you lose your job and can’t get a new one within four months.

10. Should you move your pensions to an
insurance company when you retire?

It is entirely your choice but you’re strongly advised to keep your pensions with your PFA. Your PFA manages your pensions while you work, they invest the pensions for you safely and they update you regularly about how your money is doing to help you prepare well for retirement. This proves that you can trust them to keep delivering even after you retire. Besides once you move from Programmed Withdrawals to Annuity, you CANNOT move back if you’re are not satisfied with the services they offer or the deal you got. So choose wisely and make n informed decision. Your future and that of your loved ones count on it

RomanceRe: 8 Places Where Men Can Get A Wife Material In Nigeria. by bosunjohns(m): 12:28pm On Aug 25, 2015
Toks2008:
Before i go ahead to list these places,i must state emphatically that women are women. I know plenty of people in great relationships that have met in places like pubs and dance clubs. same goes for super markets and sidewalks. there are skanky bitches every where and there are awesome chicks everywhere so the list does not apply 100%.

Nevertheless,in my opinion,i have meticulously sieved out great places where men can have a real good chance of meeting ladies who will most likely make good house wives and mothers and while some may sound realistic to you, some may sound odd and outright funny but i will try my best to give a concise and brief reason why i chose these places so lets take a ride.

1.The food market: You will likely see ladies who are well groomed in kitchen affairs in the food market especially in the section where great experience is needed in deciphering good food items from bad ones and of-course a lady who understands how to stock the kitchen will have a good idea of how to make good meals and the way to a man's heart stil remains through his stomach.

2.Catering Schools
: Trust me,most ladies in catering schools are definitely interested in learning the kitchen tricks and i can't stress it enough that a lady who knows how to cook very well will definitely make her husband happy.

3.The mid-week religious gathering
: Yes you will be wondering why i chose the mid-week. The truth is that any lady can go to church on Sundays or to jumait service on Fridays but it takes a lady who is really close to GOD or have the love for GOD to go to religious gathering during the week when she can as well be at home watching telemudo and a lady who loves GOD will surely love her family.

4.Marriage classes : Make no mistake about this,a single lady attending marriage classes is definitely interested in making her future marriage secured and when you find any single and searching lady in this meeting please go for her and you will most likely never regret it.

5.BRT BUS TERMINAL: I know this will come as a surprise to many people but it may interest you that waiting to get into a BRT bus most times requires lots of patience and a lady who can be patient enough to wait in line for a BRT bus to show up will most likely be patient with her hubby through trying times lol!

6.Mama put joint:Yes very very funny but think about it.Many ladies prefer the effizy of going to big time fast food joints just to form butty and would rather prefer to eat pizza in these restaurants whereas the worms in their belly are yearning for good amala with gbegiri and ewedu soup with choice meat or any decent meal.So if you see a lady in mama put restaurant innocently swallowing her amala please pay attention to her because she is likely to be a down to heart zero-effizy and humble lady which are good qualities of a wife material.

7.Nairaland food, family and religion section: This is very realistic because the internet is one place where you can be yourself and on nairaland forum we have various sections you can visit uninhibited so if you see any single lady viewing the family, religion or food section asides front page topics then she is truly religious, family oriented and naturally inclined to food matters so tell me if such a lady will not make a great wife?

8.Her work place: Definitely ladies who have groomed themselves to be financially independent and busy doing one thing or the other rather than jumping from one place to another with different guys are likely suitable as wife materials.

I guess i have tried and you are free to add yours.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How To Secure A Job Fast In Nigeria by bosunjohns(m): 4:43pm On Aug 22, 2015
noadvertjobs:
It hurts to see able bodied young graduates ready and willing to work even at less pay but still no job for them to engage themselves and startup a decent life.

It hurts to see Nigerian graduates sit idly at home after spending between 4 - 5 years in the higher institution, with an additional one year compulsory service to the nation, and at the end of it all, there is no job for these youths to earn a living after spending so much on school fees, handouts, textbooks, extra moral classes, etc.

The dream of every youth is to secure a decent job after graduation, but this dream usually becomes a mirage after passing out from NYSC programme, as many graduates undergo series of job tests and interviews to no avail, it hurts.

In the process, some give up their high dream of securing a job and venture into entrepreneurship with little or no adequate startup capital, which usually end up in a bad way after a year or two.

I am not here to whine about the government's inability to provide enabling environment that will drive in more foreign investors and encourage local firms, which will in turn create jobs for the youths, but I am here to give some solutions that will help any reader of this article secure a job faster.

Please do note that I am not a Human Resources expert, neither am I working with any company's HR department to avoid people sending me Private Messages for job assistance, I can only help inform you of latest job opportunities based on information I get from my friends who are HR experts and professionals, plus the ones I got reliably online.

Haven made that clear, let's move on.

If you are a Nigerian graduate and you want to secure job fast, try the tips below:

1. Start your job hunting early:

Don't wait to start sending out your CV and application (solicited and unsolicited) after your passing out parade, start early; at least a month to your passing out from NYSC.

2. Don't rely on one job advert website:

Do you know that no one website publishes all the job opportunities available in the country?

Administrators of these job advert websites are also humans, so don't rely on one website because they do always omit some jobs either because they were unaware or didn't get the information on time.

Again, some websites maybe expert in publishing latest jobs for engineering graduates, while another maybe a specialists in hospitality jobs.

So to put yourself at a good chance, have at least 5 reliable job advert website bookmarked on your phone and laptop browser which you must visit once in a day.

Its not too much task to do because I am sure most job seekers in Nigeria today don't miss any Linda Ikeji blog post which hardly add value to their life, but instead increases their anger and frustration with life as they read about different celebrities flexing life while they beg to get a 50k per month job to start life.

3. Follow job and career related Twitter handles:

Don't just follow entertainment celebrities on Twitter, try and follow career and Human Resources experts on Twitter, also follow official company twitter handles.

I once got a firsthand job vacancy info via a company Twitter handle last year, and one of my fans secured that job and wrote me to say thank you.

4. Make sure your CV speaks well:

Many recruitment experts have discussed this very topic, so I am not going to over flog issues, just try and give your CV to someone with recruitment experience to review for you.

5. Have a good Linkedin profile:

Even though most Nigerian employers hardly hire through linkedin, don't ignore the possibilities of securing a job through linkedin.

At least, one of my fans did got a job with Jagal Group last year via linkedin.

6. Tell people about your employment status:

Fortunately or unfortunately, some youth graduates in their effort not to appear jobless and broke, do lie about their employment status.

Some go as far as bragging about having a very lucrative job whereas they maybe jobless or underemployed.

Don't tell people you work with Chevron when actually you work with Ayodele Chicken Farms Otta, the implication is that they will assume you have a good job and won't inform you when there's a job opening that may suit your qualification.

Be honest in life, if you are unemployed, tell your friends and family members and always remind them that you're still job-hunting.

Being unemployed is not a crime, everyone in life must have been unemployed at some point.

Buhari once cried for loosing the presidential election and probably thought he will never be the president again, but today he is the CinC.

7. Don't rely on anybody:

While you tell family and friends about your unemployment status, please don't put all your hope of securing a job on one uncle working with Shell, Mobil, NNPC, etc, believe in yourself that's why you are a graduate.

Do you know how many help-me-secure-a-job mails I receive on daily basis (please I am not mocking those people sending me such mails, God knows I do wish I could help them all)? It always weigh me down because I usually wish I could give all of them good jobs, but then I can't, neither can Aliko Dangote nor President Buhari.

Why it is not advisable to rely on someone for job is because that person may have more than 10 persons relying on him for job, so who will he give, who will he ignore?

Just pray to God to send your helpers, that's all you should do.

Always brush your brain up with GMAT, and other job aptitude test handbooks and online materials.

Don't stop reading, not until you have secured your dream job at least.

8. Make friends of like-minds:

If you want to succeed in life, chose the right friends because friends shape our future more than siblings.

If your goal is to secure a job, stop mingling with motor park boys or students.

Instead make friends with working class people and fellow unemployed graduates for job opportunity tip off.

9. Your looks matters:

If you are a very pretty lady searching for a job, please you must be careful with how you dress to avoid distracting the HR personnel's attention, which may hurt your chances of securing the job.

Don't dress in a way the HR personnel will form a misconceived belief that all you can offer is your physical beauty.

If you are very tall as a lady going for an interview, don't wear a highheel shoe, find a moderate heel.

Don't fake your accent during interview, don't use all those eye lashes and heavy makeup.

Dress moderate.

10. Send unsolicited applications:

Don't only wait for companies to advertise, always research about companies in your field of study and send well constructed unsolicited application with your well-edited CV attached to it.

I personally have gotten 3 job offers in the past through unsolicited applications, so you too can try it.

11. Don't wait for big pay jobs only:

Many young graduates out of their greed have turned down jobs of small pay while waiting and praying for big pay jobs in big corporations while their mates are taking up smaller pay jobs to secure work experience and move up faster than they ever thought.

In case you don't know, not many companies nowadays wants to hire young graduates without relevant work experience because all organisation are looking for ways to cut cost and maximise profit, and training and re-training young graduates to fit into the job role isn't always an easy or cost-effective venture for companies.

So when next you get a job offer of 40k per month, don't reject it if it will allow you get experience in your field....believe me, from that job, you will get a bigger offer with time.

I have many friends, relatives and fans who have moved up from their 30k per month jobs to 100k, 150k, 200k, 300k, 500k, etc jobs in less than 4 years.

I will drop you guys here for today, see you again some other time.

I wish you all God's divine favour in your search for job and better life.

FamilyRe: 9 Tips For Keeping The Spark Alive In Your Marriage by bosunjohns(m): 10:41pm On Aug 21, 2015
Realwvn:
Thinking about when you were dating should bring a smile to your face. You were young (at least younger than you are now). You had fewer pressures in your life and you could focus more time on the one you loved. If there were other important things going on, they only seemed to get in the way of your dating relationship.

Now, a few (or several) years later, it seems that everything is turned around. You have more pressures with work, hobbies, social activities and less time to spend with your spouse. Your marriage seems like it gets in the way of everything else you have to, or want to do.

So today, Naijanewsrave will be giving 7 tips you can really use to ignite the spark in your marriage again

1. Ignite a flame in your relationship again.
If a flame seems a little too ambitious to you, start with just a spark. After implementing these tips I hope you remember what attracted you to one another back those many years ago.

2. Respect

When you first got married did you ever think that you would treat your spouse as poorly as you treat your own brothers or sisters—those people you were forced to live with and knew every fault they had? Yet here you are a few years down the road and find that you treat your own siblings with more respect than you have for your spouse.

Your siblings come to visit and you offer to get them something to drink. You hold in your bodily noises when they are around. You call just to chat. What about your relationship with your spouse? Do you still show them the respect you did when you were dating? If not, get back to those days when you valued your spouse more than your own family.

3. Dress nicely when you go out. Let other people know it is an honor for you to be with the one you love. Speak kindly. Listen to one another again.

4. Spontaneity

Do things just for fun. Be random. Play. You don’t always have to act your age. When was the last time you invited your spouse to the back seat of your car to kiss in the mall parking lot? As a complete surprise you can arrange with your friends to take the kids for a night and you sweep your spouse off to a hotel across town.

5. Communication

That word communicate is a fancy word for talk. Remember when you used to do that without having to raise your voice? Pay attention to your spouse. Intentionally put your book down when they are speaking. Listen to what they have to say.

Compliment one another. Find something nice to say to your spouse. Then find nice things to say about them to other people. This honors them and communicates to others your affection for the one you love.

6. Public Display of Affection

It is perfectly acceptable to hold hands in most cultures. But have you held hands lately? When my wife and I were dating we were in an environment that did not allow dating couples to hold hands. How thrilling it was each time we did get a chance to sneak in a little squeeze. Sometimes we recreate that feeling by acting like it is taboo as we hold hands underneath our Bible during church.

Why do we think it is cute for teenagers to act like a married couple out in public, but somehow think it is disgusting for a married couple to act like teenagers? There should certainly be limits to what is done in public as a sign of respect to other people, but maybe a little bit of public affection would do your marriage good.

7. Dating Again

Plan some time alone with your spouse. A date doesn’t need to be expensive, but it does need to be intentional. If you just go out to eat at the same place you go every Thursday evening, that wouldn’t necessarily be a date. But if you would ramp up your wardrobe, show obvious respect to your spouse and throw in a little PDA (public display of affection) you could be surprised as to how exciting the local fast food joint can be once again.

8. Gift Giving

Gifts don’t have to be elaborate. It could even be as simple as a random card with a nice note about how you are thinking about them. My wife was cleaning out some files yesterday when she found some cards that we had given each other years ago. Though these gifts didn’t have monetary value, they still brought a smile to our faces as she told about some of the things we wrote to one another. A gift can be something simple, but it should be well thought out and given with purpose.

9. Studying One Another

I was around an older couple recently and witnessed a hilarious conversation. The wife said something about her husband liking a certain food. He said to me that he really didn’t like it, but he tolerated it for her sake because he thought she liked it so much. She was shocked and was genuinely surprised by this revelation. She hated the food but only made it because she thought he liked it.

What things are you doing because you think your spouse likes it, but you never took the time to find out the truth? Of course you can’t know until you ask them and start studying them like you did when you first met. In fact, it can be a fun game to go to an event and pretend you don’t know one another. Ask each other questions like you are meeting for the first time. You might be surprised that what you thought was true, or what may have been true 20 years ago, isn’t the case any more.

I hope these 9 tips for keeping the spark alive in your marriage will inspire you to spend some quality time with the one you love this week and for many years to come.

WebmastersRe: How To Turn Your Blog Into A Brand by bosunjohns(m): 3:47pm On Aug 21, 2015
hilltechunit:
"Show me a successful blog and i will show you a blog that was built into a brand",Welcome.
I suppose that most of you that are about to read this post must have read my post on turning your blog into a brand,if you have not
i'll advise you to in order to get a full knowledge of what blogging and branding is about..
Like i said in the article "Turning your blog into a Brand", One of the major reason people create a blog is to generate huge amount of money and fame. But for a lot of persons after blogging for several months they end up not getting anything, and this make some people quite while some continue. When your blog has been built into a brand, your blog becomes popular and it will attract a lot of readers and people who are ready to invest in your blog through means of placing their adverts on your blog.So in a summary when your blog is built into a brand, you get fame, which will lead to free traffic and then more money. Not to waste much of your time let's going into the main business, which is how to turn your blog into a brand.

Step 1. Create an organized blog.
Why do you need an organised blog?,why not "just any kind of blog so long it is a blog"?.Now the reason why an organised blog is paramount and 100% relevant and important when trying to make your blog a brand is because in the process of trying to turn your blog into a brand you will have to work with some co-operative societies, companies, individual etc,and nobody will work with your "just any kind of blog so long it is a blog",they are not ready to waste their time and money on your blog. Now what do you have to do?.Make sure that you adjust your blog's design, width, widget and arrangement if it is not in a good shape. Also when trying to create an organised blog make sure your blog name is something reasonable, something that will sound pleasant to the ears for people to easily remember.

Step 2. Free sponsorship
Yes!,free or cheap sponsorship is one of the things you need to do when planning to turn your blog into a brand, especially when you are just starting up a new blog and you don't have good traffic..Now when you sponsor programs, event or activities you make your blog popular, because when the organisers of the program are mentioning their sponsors on air either by means of radio or television, or when they advertise the program in magazines and newspaper your blog will be listed among those that sponsor the program, and if the program requires any registration your blog might be included as source with which people can register for the event. So you see how your blog becomes popular..Also you get to know the bigger names in the game and your blog starts going far.

Step 3. BE ORIGINAL
Hey reader!,if you want your blog to get to the level of a brand, then you must be original.A lot of persons end up messing themselves up trying to be exactly like someone else. You are to be yourself, have your own inspired logo, don't get your blog something because one big blogger somewhere got it for his blog. Some bloggers keep asking questions like,"what template did Linda ikeji used?,i want to use it on my blog",and my reply to them is always,"Linda ikeji is what she is not because of her template but her intellect".Linda ikeji is known for her controversial gossip blog, what do you want to be known for?,that's originality.

Step 4. Put your money
Back then as a newbie in the blogosphere, while i was still a novice and was learning,my boss the owner of onyitexblog, told me that,:"if you want to make it in the blogging industry then you must put your money",when he told me i was cold and tried to prove him wrong but after series of trials i discovered that he was true about that statement. You need money to buy a domain name, you need money to do your facebook ads,if you can't design your blog then you have to pay someone to do it for you...So put your money!.

Well,we have come to the end of this post hope you understood every details, but if you do not you can ask me your question in the comment section. Thanks

New bloggers sometimes wonder what successful bloggers do that make them earn so much from their blogs. They are surprised that some people somewhere are raking in millions monthly from the internet even though this 'set of gurus' discuss the same topics and use the same blogging software as them.

Today, I'm happy to inform you that there is nothing magical about growing your blog to success. You just need to understand what these established bloggers are doing and apply the same with extra efforts. In blogging business, traffic translates into money so the basis of increasing your earnings from blogging is to work on improving your blog traffic.

Here are 10 steps that makes success automatic in blogging:

1. Do Extensive Niche Research
Before you launch you blog, be careful to carry out deep analysis of the main topics that your blog will be discussing. If you want to earn well through thirdparty ad publishing programmes like Google Adsense, your blog's main theme must be capable of attracting advertisers who are looking to do serious spending to promote or sell their goods and services. High paying niche topics include insurance, loans, online colleges, small business, technology, mobile and PC softwares and tips, health etc. You earn less from niches like art, poetry, music, entertainment, sports, jokes etc. An example of a free tool you can use for this niche keyword analysis is Google Keyword Planner.

2. Pick Quality Blog Platform And Design
Wordpress and Blogger are two commonly used blogging software. Each one comes with its own unique properties. Your choice of blogging platform can go a long way in influencing your blog traffic, blog pageviews and rankings on Search Engine Result Page (SERP). Whatever software or platform you decide to use, make sure it loads fast and is well optimized for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

When your blog has a good design, it encourages clicking on adverts which increases your blog Click Through Rate (CTR). With a good theme, your blog readers can easily discover and visit related posts which translates to increased page views and time spent on your blog. It has also been discovered that some layout facilitates subscription, following, sharing and tweeting of posts on social media which increases your blog's social presence.

3. Learn About SEO
As a serious blogger, you should be able to find out why some other blogger's post rank higher than yours when you search for things on Google. Understanding what it takes to improve SERP rankings is essential when it comes to increasing visitors to your blog especially from search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo. This is because a large fraction of traffic to most blog comes from these search engines.

I find it discouraging at times when I come across fellow bloggers who do not understand basic SEO terms like pagerank, metadata, H1 tags, keyword density, SERP, CPC, CTR, Moz authority, longtail keyword, backlink, outbound link, inlink etc. If you are determined to succeed with your blog, you better sit down and master SEO. Download tutorial manuals and videos from the internet and study them. It is more than just writing posts or writing thousands of them. For instance, a careful choice of words (keywords) in your post title can make that post rank very high in Google search results. Optimize first, don't waste your time writing post that people won't get to read.

4. Let Your Post Solve Readers' Problems
Entertainment bloggers generally publish events and happenings as they trend all in a bid to meet people's desire to inquire into celebrities lifestyle and happenings. Aside from this group, most successful blogger write posts that answer people's questions. They learn to research into what major questions people ask. If your post provides solutions to problems, organic traffic to your blog will increase naturally because more people will be referred to your post. The post will rank high in search results when people type their problems(questions) in Google. You can gather ideas on what problems to solve with your post when you look through:
==> online forums like (Nairaland)
==> comment sections of popular blogs in your niche.

5. Carry Out Keyword Analysis Before Publishing

It is good to know you can write articles really fast. You have tens of posts ready which you are eager to put up online. It is wiser if you can take the pain to carry out in depth keyword research before you publish. Not all keywords can generate enough traffic for your blog, not all keywords will guarantee low competition so you can rank easily in search engines and not all keywords have satisfactory cost per click (CPC). Seo Tool Book and Google Keyword Planner are keyword research tools you can use at no cost. SEMRush, Moz, Market Samurai and Longtail Pro are paid tools that gives you value for your money. The rule of thumb is to use keywords that offer decent traffic, low competition and medium to high CPC.

6. Avoid Duplicate Content (Copy And Paste)
Well, I'm sad to say this. Most entertainment and tech bloggers in Nigeria just copy and paste articles and pictures gotten from other sources. I shake my head when I see the same post and pictures appearing on many of these blogs. To you, you are working hard at blogging but to Google you are a plain cheat who deserves to be dealt with. If you are the type of blogger whose hobby is to steal posts and pictures from bellanaija, linda ikeji etc and then put them up on your blog without rewriting in your own words or giving credit, I pity you. Apart from the fact that law action can be taken against you when you use other people's materials without their consent (Linda Ikeji's Case), Google raises the hammer on blogs that contain articles and pictures that have been posted online before, reducing their rankings. Try this, paste a part of the article you copied into Copyscape or Google search and you will see the link to the original post staring at you.

Writing unique contents (and including original pictures) is necessary if you want to succeed in blogging business. Although this is not easy if you are just setting out, you can develop great writing skills with time. The pictures you use in your blog post can also generate traffic to your blog.

To optimize your images for image search; ensure that the image is:

==> attractive
==> less than 100kb in size,
==> in JPeg (.jpg) format,
==> renamed to contain your keywords separated by hyphen (not spaces) and
==> given a good description in the alt tag.

7. Publish Often
How often do you publish on your blog. It is a sound advice to write at least 2-3 original blog posts weekly. Your blog will be crawled more often by Google bot because Google loves this. If you want to make decent income from your blog, please take it as serious business. Many bloggers have some other work they do during the day. Well, if you are the busy type, you could compose posts anywhere during the day immediately the inspiration drops, after which you garnish it up with more research and then publish on your blog when you are back from work in the evening. This basically what I use my phone's notepad (memopad) for. If you call yourself a blogger but you are in the habit of writing one post monthly, then I can boldly assure you that you are very much prepared to fail. Just like I recommended previously, you can help yourself out when you run short of ideas on what to write about with the following tips.
==> read related blogs daily
==> look for tips in the comment sections of popular blogs
==> check sections of established forums related to your niche.

8. Avoid Blackhat SEO Methods
Blackhat SEO are illegal techniques that some bloggers employ to rank high in search engine results. SEO techniques such as building bulk backlinks, buying traffic, link exchange farms, using traffic bot, keyword stuffing, publishing spinned articles that are unreadable, using bulk blog commenting softwares (like Scrapebox, Xrummer and Senuke) etc are greatly frowned upon by Google. Though you may come across popular gigs selling these services on Fiverr and Seoclerk, please do well to avoid using blackhat. This is because Google rolls out updates (e.g Panda, Penguin) periodically which are targeted at penalizing blogs that engage in these blackhat methods by reducing their rankings or removing them from search results (de-indexing). It's worthy to note also that most of the algorithms that blackhat SEO targets no longer count in ranking. Quality content is the new king.

9. Establish Social Presence
Do you know why many successful bloggers have thousand of followers on their Facebook and Twitter pages? Here is the reason. Your outreach on social network is one of the indices search engines calculate to know how much love people have for your blog. This invariably hinges on how much value your blog add to visitors and translates to how high you will rank in search engines. Increase social interaction on your blog by concluding your posts with statements that compel readers to drop comments. Google understands that when readers enjoy your post, it will attract comments inform of appreciation or questions. Install widgets and themes that encourage visitors to subscribe to your feeds, follow your blog and share your posts on social media. Ensure you have frequently updated profile pages on major social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

10. Diversify Your Blog Monetization
Blog monetization are methods that you use to make money from your blog. As a blogger who is determined to make it big in blogging, I'll advise that you look beyond publishing ads for third parties like Google Adsense, Chitika, Adbrite, Infolinks, Addynamo etc. Strive hard to achieve decent traffic so that you can sell banner and text link adverts directly on your blog. Advertisers pay straight into your bank account and you put up ads on their behalf. If you doubt me, send a mail to Jide of Ogbongeblog or Linda Ikeji for their ad rates.

It is also important that you apply for affiliate programmes like Konga, Jumia, Amazon, Media.net etc. Understand that affiliate companies whether indigenous or foreign will reject your application if your blog does not have their traffic requirements. So work on improving traffic first. While most affiliate sites will pay commission when someone you refer to them buys a product or service, a few such as Mobofree will reward you when your referrals sign up free with them.

If you have a large reader base or social media followers, you can make money writing sponsored posts from companies and individuals, as well as by tweeting or sharing sponsored links to your followers. Some bloggers charge between $100-$150 per sponsored post/tweet. That's cool money if you can get an average of 2-3 offers weekly.

The best way to make consistent income from your blog is create and sell information products and services. Information products may be inform of tutorial manuals or videos. Many established bloggers create tutorials that will help upcoming bloggers which they offer for sale at a price on their blogs.

Examples of hot info products are Forex trading videos, fish farming manuals, tutorials on soap and cream making, video lessons on bead making and wire works, training on Adire tie and die, Blogger to Wordpress conversion services, weight loss guides etc.

To become a successful blogger, you need to work hard at improving your blog's traffic, loyal followership and monetization. Finally, I feel delighted to have revealed these top secrets to you. I'm also expectant that you will put all this into good use. Your beginning may be small now but continue working hard. Success is just by the bend.

PoliticsRe: Between Ojukwu's Burial And Benjamin Adekunle's by bosunjohns(m): 5:35pm On Aug 14, 2015
Are these events recent? I can see some past governors there. I thought these state burials happened in the 80s. Someone please educate me.

1toRtoiSe1:
When a lying in state is done during the burial of a person, notable or not, the casket is left open for people to have a last view of the person they are paying a last respect and saying goodbye to. This also gives the family members the opportunity to know that it is their beloved's body that is placed in the casket about to be buried. Without that, most people might think the body has been changed or certain parts removed by ritualists.

When a casket is kept closed, the main reasons might be due to the fact that the person's body got badly burnt or destroyed in an accident or the illness that killed such a fellow made the body look horrible to view.

Below are pictures from the burial of Emeka Ojukwu and also Benjamin Adekunle. Both men fell sick before their death. Ojukwu was hospitalised abroad where he died while Adekunle died in Nigeria.

Why was Ojukwu's casket kept close all through the burial ceremony even when people were going round it to pay him their last respect?
