I just really want to see the end of this. Not that I care or that I want it to be over, but in the next five to ten years? Like, who they'll become would be so enjoyable to see. Especially if they come here to share it.

I recently saw the post of a younger man I know, and he was spilling this same nonsense we read here. That's when I realized that they could actually be brainwashing themselves offline.

On the other hand, I don't want to be a jury and would attribute all these to juvenile stuff they'll outgrow. Some kids do really crazier stuff and then went on to be good individuals. But then not everyone will turn out alright. Overriding a configuration/brainwash no be beans o. If they like, they should not be alright.

It's posterity that will judge them; and their wives and children. Because those are the people that will live with their pathetic choices.

Exactly. You put it so eloquently.

And the small boys on the thread are still coming out to blame failure of marriages on wives inabiility to bear difficult times as if marriage is not a union of two people. As if the success of every marriage is 100% dependent on the woman's ability to overcome trials.

What about the man? The so called superior and leader?

Such annoying mentality these people have and they dont have enough sense to see that their reasoning is problematic.
It seems their game is pin it on the woman.

They hate women, women are unintelligent, contribute nothing, lazy creatures, only bring sex; but once anything happens in a relationship, it is the same women who would've gained supernatural powers of manipulation to be behind it so that they can blame one.

Man cheats on wife: wife caused it.
Man beats wife: wife caused it.
Man has bad relationship with children: she manipulated them, though women aren't intelligent
Man dies: wife did it.
Man kills woman: wife caused it.
Man dies in action in prostitute: wife done it!

They unwittingly and subconsciously attribute the success of a marriage to a woman's goodness or badness, yet claim women don't bring nothing to their tables and are passive partners.
Their case is a strange one borne of hate for women. They don't want to accord them their due/worth, but they are quick to elevate them to having immense powers over marriage so that they can sit back and do nothing but point at her for their failures and inadequacies. It's deliberate.

Farfalla:
I don't think people are ugly/beautiful based on their sizes. Like you, I have seen very attractive people who happen to be big in size. Too many in fact.

I was only emphasizing that many catty people use the term "fat" when they want to body-shame big-bodied people from my observation. When they see those beautiful Xhosa, Zulu, Swazi and Tswana women with big, round thighs and small waists, they'll use terminologies to describe them and "fat" almost always never features there. "Fat" will only be used as an expression of disgust. A younger Omotola for instance was always described as sexy by her fans but the people who never liked her would say that she's hyped because a woman her size can neither be beautiful nor sexy.

Same applies to petite people (especially women). People call them "slim", "petite" or "slender" as a compliment but switch to "skinny" or "bony" when they want to body-shame them. At least in this part of the world ("Skinny" will be a compliment in the fashion industry and Hollywood though).

I have been both "orobo" and "lepa" and I can tell you that I always knew when someone was complimenting my size, my hips, my arse or indirectly insinuating that I should lose a few pounds or even gain a few pounds in certain areas.

Now I'm somewhere in between lepa and orobo and I don't even have the stamina to care anymore. cheesy
Spot on.

The OP talked about how women are been bashed and how many are still there even in tough times and wants people to share experiences of how wome are still faithful as opposed to the thread lamenting of how a man's wife treated him after losing his job. Nothing more. As for men, even without asking majority will still do what is expected of them and even more in marriage and this thread is to encourage men that there are still faithful women who will stay through it all.
Again: is the quality of faithfulness only for women that threads and posts are created to bash women about it every second? Why don't men talk about their own faithfulness and loyalty?

There are good marriages, but the only perspective and criteria you people seem to use in categorizing if a marriage is good or bad is The Woman.

How is it suddenly all about women? They said marriages, not women.

Is the woman the head of the home? Is every relationship solely dependent on women? Why do boys/men always act like a relationship isn't a man and woman combined? Why do they act like it's always only on the woman to carry it on her shoulders like a hunchback? If it's bad, it's the woman's fault. If it's good, it's because she's a good woman. What is the man's usefulness then? When will you acknowledge that men are part of why marriages fail?

It's too myopic.

Why don't you start by addressing all the questions I raised before deflecting?

You say NL women are lazy. How? How did you know that? Do you know us? Have you met any of us? Where's your proof of that?

You claim ladies don't comment because of laziness -- can you explain what you mean by that? What's does our not commenting have to do with negligence?

Is NL your basis for judging reality? You actually listen to what men say on NL and used it to judge? Between your parents' marriage and what strangers are saying online, which are you supposed to believe? Can you not think for yourself? Men say, men say, no married man say.

You also said ladies should do more -- more in what aspect? More about what?

You are a SINGLE guy that just commented on a thread, and you BADMOUTHED ladies based on what other guys are saying, now do you realize that those other guys are prolly SINGLE as you are and saying nonsense about women? How do you know all the men commenting are married? Have YOU had any (personal) bad experiences with women? Because all you're claiming is, 'one man said, one man said, a married man said.' You can't THINK for yourself, without others telling you what to think? How OLD are you?

How many married men do you know offline? How many have you met? How many comments of married men on Nairaland have you read? You want to tell me that on this thread, you can't find a man that'll have something good to say about his wife abi? Do you try to listen to the good men and the good things they have to say?

Are you a terrible person? Are all men terrible? So when feminists say men are scum and don't have anything good to say about men, they are right? I'm curious too. Because if no man has anything good to say about ladies and you reached a conclusion, then the feminists that don't have anything good to say about men are also telling the truth.

Fire? Where? So you really believe women are terrible then? Abi. And you know and believe and are already prepared to end up with a terrible woman. OK.

For my mum and dad, they have their ups and downs, but it's mostly argument.
For the most important aspect of this topic of women staying true to their husband goes thus, many years ago, my dad on the line of duty were attacked by armed robbers killing all except him but left with a damaged leg which was later amputated, mum took care of him, and she engaged in different businesses just to maintain the family source of income, although dads salary was not stopped but it was not enough because most were spent on treatment, drugs, amidst other things, he was a civil servant and he did not go to work for a period of six years and little or no promotion, mum took to paying my school fees while my dad focused on my siblings.
Why can't you people ever talk about men staying true to their wives? Or are faithfulness, perseverance and loyalty only qualities for women? Is it that you people revel in sufferings of women as a test of character, while you never give such in return?

Why must Nigerian women suffer to prove they are good enough to Nigerian men? There's a problem with Nigerian men. This over-flogged looking for who is there in the hard times only is becoming boring. As if women were built to suffer and take all manner of things from men who can't do the same.

Ahhh. God. They asked you to share a good story... you started well, then went off track to be yabbing women and NL women. Do you fking know any of us offline?? Na curse?? Can you not just 100% share what you want to share and leave it at that?? Do you not see a good model for women in your own mom? Or do you not see as you are as a result of the brainwashing going on??

Because if we go into this deep now, you won't have any meaningful 'crime' to attribute to women, just a regurgitation of what you've been reading!

Which more?? Really. Tell me. Which more do you want them to do? How many NL women do you know to call them lazy?? undecided

Answer me this, too. Why do you say women don't like saying their own side of the story?? Why do you believe so? And have you not seen women commenting here?

How is not 'not of commenting on posts' because of our laziness? I don't get. So, if we comment on every posts, sharing our opinions, you'll say we're addicted to attention and social media, now you think we're not commenting, you're saying it's because of laziness and negligence. Do you even read what you're commenting??

Ladies beg to do assignments in class?? Are you kidding me?? Jesus!
LMAO.

The way these semi-men post is deranged.

They have concluded, without any proof, that all women aren't intelligent and can't do assignments. Yet they were in the same class. What exactly does that tell us about such a man? If he thinks the women are dumb and they are in the same class, then he must be just as dumb too.

They need an intelligent woman always, because of pointless stereotypes, as if they are intelligent themselves. They actually believe their mothers and mothers of old are intelligent. Aren't those ones unintelligent females too? ;DThe misogyny is making them more stupid than they must already be.

They want women to comment but once there's a thread, the ones on the forest floor eating snakes take over. This forum is a cesspit of low level males. One has to conclude they are all villagers in some horrible place where sense is forbidden. Their background becomes so obvious once they post. Shortly, they will post some scabies with their filthy feet in the background, asking us what to do about it with their famed intelligence. LMAO.

Simple discussion they have turned it to another woman bashing thread.
They are always assuming and talking about the good old days that they were never a part of. The days when women wore loose cloths on their chests and rolled over for their grandfathers backwards. Or whatever it is they romanticize about it.

You'll wonder if the only people in their relationships are women, that the whole thing lies on their heads. Toxic teenagers who are just discovering the red pill. Expect very dysfunctional adults in the next 2-10 years. In fact, in the next 30 years they will revile the boys of today.

Just saw a trend about a man telling us of the kind of gut his wife has.

I will be brief.

I've noticed countless times how marriage is bashed on this platform. If there are 10 topics about marriage, 8 will be a complain of what one spouse did to another.

What we don't understand is that we are being subconsciously socially engineered to hate, fear, and dread marriage. Too much bad news everywhere.

The kind of stories I read here, me self don dey fear marriage.

Yet, I'm from a complete family. My parents have being married for 26 years and they are still together. I'm not saying it's been blissful all through, but they are still a team, gist mates, yab mates, etc.

What I want us to do is simple:

Share a story of when your mom stood by your dad, when your wife stood by you or when your husband stood by you during a difficult time.

I won't be surprised if this doesn't make it the FP because people love reading bad news too much.
It's a deliberate effort to make people (boys) hate marriage. They began it with misogyny. On the forum you have boys mostly, with a twisted, toxic hate of women and marriage because they think they are some sort of prize. They've been brainwashed into it and are brainwashing others, too.

The proponents and mods behind it have done a good job. But it's even better to see that the scales are falling off.

I don't know about Nigeria but in many places, "fat" is used to describe an ugly somebody. A woman can have a very pretty face, but if she's fat, even the ugly, slender women will call her ugly. lipsrsealed

It's a term that's mostly used to body-shame rather than describe someone.
Do people really think fat people are ugly? Some of the most beautiful, fresh-skinned people (male and female) I've seen happen to be fat. There are some fat people that are so beautiful and proportional it makes one feel like getting fat too.

I think body-shaming would be calling someone obese, or using some other descriptions rather than the actual word. Eg. That man that can sink a warship.

What about skinny, slim, etc?

Thank you.

But this morning flight part? I will fight it to the last: they delay morning flights like they were contracted to punish passengers.

I left without breakfast thinking I would get to my destination in a short while and have it, but all they heartlessly gave us are those baby bottles of water and not even box juice! I had finished mine before takeoff. Can't describe the punishment after boarding, to sit and marinate in heat. I got to my destination after lunch and had to eat overpriced food on arrival before getting out.

Now imagine coming down from such a flight and getting into an Uber only to discover on leaving the airport that it doesn't have an AC?

Isn't that transportation witchcraft?

This is more than vexation. It's happened several times. It's a pattern. They really need to be fined for that. Such few flights yet so many delays.

Hello,
My mom is lovely but lately I'm getting fed up with her. She is someone that requires people to do every single thing for her without lifting a finger. Asides earning money to train her children, which I'm forever grateful for.

I can say that all my life, I can count how many times I've seen my mother cook or pick a broom, talkless of lay her bed.

Growing up, I thought it was very normal since our culture is one where you have to be very respectful and help your elders. I have many siblings so we all did everything for the house and for her. But lately, with the older ones settling down and moving out, I'm left with her.

It has gotten to the extent that my unmarried siblings also avoid the house because it's not easy living with her. We got her a maid to help around but it's not a permanent solution especially with expenses.

I'm a student and I came home this break while the maid travels back home for Christmas. The whole situation is quite tiring for me. I was baffled today when, while I was choked up cooking Christmas food for us and guests coming later, she called me to rub cream on her foot, like why can't she do it herself. The fact that she didn't even help with any of the cooking and arrangements was painful enough.

My siblings have given up on her as they believe she's used to it already and she can't change. I've been told that my late dad pampered her and got several maids for her so she has been doing this for so long already. My father died when I was little.

I've taken it as not a big deal but I'm beginning to think of moving to another state after graduation just because of this issue. cry

I don't know whether to confront her about her attitude. Or whether that would make me disrespectful or ungrateful to her.
If she were a man, your father/uncle/older brother, all these things would be ignored because he is giving you money. But just because she's a woman...

Ingrate. Don't you know she's toiling day and night for the home?
