Due to the inability of GEJ to tackle security problems in the country, many have tagged him "å weak man".
In my candid opinion, the only reason I will believe that GEJ is weak is if he doesn't contest for another term in office.

leslieu63: I feel so honored to be the third comment. All of
my hardwork and dedication has paid off.
Getting the top comment has been a dream of
mine for many years, and I would like to thank
those who have helped me along the way. First
and foremost I would like to thank God for
giving me this opportunity. Next I would like to
thank my parents. I want to thank my dog
maggie, for being really fat and always there for
me. Next I would like to thank the squirrel that
lives in my backyard for climbing trees because
that gives me inspiration that I need to get
through the day. This is a special moment in my
life and I would like to thank any of my
unmentioned friends and family that have
helped me along the way. This moment will be a
moment that I will never forget. I just
remembered a few other people I would like to
thank; facebook, the fish I caught in the third
grade, my light in my room because I wouldn’t
be able to see the keyboard without it, the
internet for letting me go on facebook, my
house because without it I would be homeless,
and last but not least I would like to thank all
the people out there that actually took time out
of their day to read this. I cannot stress how
much of a big deal to me this is. I have been
trying to be the first comment on a post for
years, but that has not been possible until this
amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will
continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare
occasion. If you asked me how I did this, I
would say, you can achieve anything that you , you can achieve anything that you set
your mind on. To all the kids out there reading
this, I would like to tell them to follow their
dreams. Being the top comment is amazing,
thank you everyone!
I just wasted one minute of my time reading d crap u put up there!
Christianity EtcRe: Freewill And Determinism by bright007(op): 7:21am On Aug 09, 2012
wiegraf: I am familiar with the topic, what I don't understand is how you expect science to consider spirits, souls or whatever you want to call that. At best, that's trollish (in which case, well done, as I'm fairly irritated), worse, you really don't understand what science is about. You want science to consider imaginary stuff in its calculations? Do you think there are millions of little people in your computer furiously switching things and putting on little lights in order to illuminate your monitor? Or maybe when you make a call some invisible man listens then runs at the speed of light to the other end to relay your message? Faith is not a factor where science is concerned, not at all. To come around now and suggest so is so....

Let me put it in perspective a christian may understand (again, not sure how you guys seem completely unable to see other pov). You know how some muslims oppressed by the system in their countries decide 'well, the grass is greener on the other side so I might as well work my way out of this hell hole'. Said muslims then work their way out their country and reach more prosperous lands, a lot of the time at great cost too. Upon arriving though guess what these great examples of human reasoning do? They ask for shariah. A critical part of the system which they escaped, they somehow show up and logically deduce it is better than the system which they struggled to get into. Which they have admitted is superior to the system they escaped from by their going out of their way to join. Sheer arrogance or unadulterated stupid.ity, I don't know. Can you see what I am saying now?

It could get even worse, but it seems you've not crossed that line yet. Some start to somehow credit science's accomplishments to some faith based system...

If you tag this thread as christian only, then you're good, atheists would just take this as religious people just being religious. As it stands now its premises are flagrantly incorrect.

.
thanks for really taking your time in ur last comment.I believe that freewill and determinism are to be understood from an ontological perspective. In this sense,it cuts across all spheres of life from religion, biology, economics etc.
In essence, determinism $ freewill seeks to know if man has absolute freedom(or maybe he is limited to some extent) or He is simply unable to alter himself or his environment due to either known or unknown forces.
Now to ur first analogy, determinism in science does not seek to question d achievements of science. We all know dat telecommunication is made possible due to d existence of different rays in d electromagnetic spectrum. It is the properties dat is inherent in these rays that gives them the ability to convey message from one location to another.
Also the concept of freewill or determinism does not revolve around what makes å particular discovery in science works rather seeks to know if man is not guided/aided by forces beyond his control to make such discoveries.
You seem to be plying d route of religious determinism which seeks to know whether man is predetermined or becomes what he makes of himself.

wiegraf: I have no idea as to what you are trying to convey here.
pls go carefully through my first and second post and I âm sure u will understand d message.I have just summarised what freewill and determinism is all about.
Now which do u go for and why?.
Does man have freewill or is he predertermined in totality?
Christianity EtcRe: Freewill And Determinism by bright007(op): 5:06pm On Aug 08, 2012
dorox: I think that whichever position is taken, Freewill or Determinism will run into difficulty when stretched to absolutes, same thing happens when you compare Nature agains Nuture.
I will illustrate my view with the help of an anology. Consider the split between Freewill and Determinism to be like a game of chess, what the players can do has already been predetermined by the size of the board, number of piece, rules of the game and time allowed to finish the game. But within these constraints a player has a near infinite choice of moves to finish a game. Faced with the same problem two players might chose different moves bounded by the constraints of the game.
I admit that no anology is perfect, but my point is that whatever action we take or decide not to take is predetermined by a complex web of constraints governing our individual existence and withing these constraints are infinite choices to be made.
From your first point,u opting for determinism.Like I pointed out, determinism is of different sort.I would appreciate if u can relate ur analogy to å specific type of determinism. It throws more light on ur point.

It has been å tiring day at d office. It was already 6.00pm and Jonah still had the traffic to beat in order to get home.He zoomed off in his escalade and soon found out the hold-up was worse than he had thought. At 8.00pm he was still driving but now very tired.
He got home at 11 pm and was totally exhausted and farmished. His wife had prepared dinner and probably waited for Jonah before leaving for vigil.Jonah went to the bedroom, took off his shoes and jumped on d bed.He felt å need to relax before going to d kitchen.Half asleep,he dreamt he was back in d village and his mummy had prepared his best meal and he was enjoying every mouthful of d meal. His wife returned from vigil d next morning and saw jonah chewing his mouth and his tummy had unusually become inflated. On getting closer to d bed,she saw some pillow fragments all around him.She examined his mouth and saw more of it,she looked at d bed again and observed 3 out of four pillows were missing!

Christianity EtcPhilosophy Of Religion by bright007(op): 7:08pm On Aug 07, 2012
The philosophy of religion is based on attributes/nature of God and also the metaphysical attributes of God.
These attributes/nature are:Necessary Being,Omnipotence,Omniscient,Goodness etc. Now let's discuss these attributes/nature and see how they relate cohesively into one being.
(1)The necessary nature of God is that existence is d nature of God.Anselm in his book "The Monologium" says that it is d nature of God to exist. God" derives existence from itself",He exists through itself"but the existence of other beings are predicated upon his existence.Anselm further went on in his book "Proslogium"to explain the grandeur of God as "that than which no greater can be conceived".From this he drew the necessary and certain existence of God.
Thomas Aquinas in his bookSumma Theologica
argued for the existence of God on the grounds of self-evidence,for Gods predicate is incorporated in his subject.
The objection to this proofs or definition of God is that the thought of å being does not necessarily bring such being into existence
(2)God is often perceived as all-knowing Being(omniscient). He knows the past, present and future
the problem with this definition of God is that it rules out the freedom of man.It means man is just living in an already determined world
(3)The Omnipotence definition is that God is all-powerful.This of course means God's power cover everything. He is capable of doing everything and if this definition is true, then God is equally responsible for the obvious evils that takes place in d world or He is unable to do anything about it.Either way, there seems to be å sort of shortfall on d attributes of God.God of goodness would certainly not permit evil and all-powerful God should be able to cutail evil .

Dear forumites, all u have read above is not to dissuade u from your faiths or beliefs in God.Rather,it is to urge us to develop rational and good reasons for believing in God.It makes us less dogmatic and more tolerant to other people's belief.
Christianity EtcRe: Can Religion Be Logical? by bright007(f): 6:14pm On Aug 07, 2012
think this is ťĥĕ reason why countries like nigeria seems to be backward. The most potent way of learning about nature is through logic. You cannot learn about nature by believing,u need to investigate, experiment and then draw deductions logically. Most of d developed countries in d world became successful through logical reasoning in science and not through faith.Simply put, when it comes to d physical world, logical reasoning wins it but when it comes to spiritual things, faith takes it all.
