My passport had a little above one year validity when I went to immigration in abuja to renew, my brother the process was not funny o!. They informed me that the ligal process is called passport extension considering the passport had not expired.
My brother by the time I got the new and old passport back I almost fainted; Nigeria immigration actually cancelled the passport before issuing the new passport because we are not allowed by law to hold 2 valid Nigerian passport.

Omo; na there wahala burst because the next process was to meet every embassy I had valid visa for; to transfer the visa onto the new passport.

Well, thank God it was before applying for Canada visa because after 4-5 months to get the first trv. You won't want a repeat 4-5 months to get trv transfered to the new passport.

Abeg, when you enter Canad, if CIC like make them take 1 year to transfer trv and study permit to the new passport no wahala, atleast you done enter.

Pls, r u sure abt d bolded as per transfering valid visa to d new passport? Is it compulsory? Does cancelling of d old passport render d valid visas void as well? What if all ur passport pages were used up and you had to apply for a new passport? Av u tot abt dat? Cos d old passport will still be cancelled. I'm sure ur passport validity was less dan 6months dat was why u had to apply for a new one as per CDHC requirement.
Please, if u can explain further I will appreciate o. I av valid visas on my cancelled passport and d new one will av only canny visa. Abeg explain o. Gurus in d house, abeg una talk o. Oga justwise, oga siga, everybody pls.

I am coming back to the same forum again to explore if any other members here can offer useful advice. I am currently doing graduate program here in BC. However, I would like to bring in my family( my wife and kid) here next year for Easter. I am trying to figure out what exactly I would need to or what documentation they would need to send along with their application and at the same time assess their success rate. Both of them have traveled to the US before. She has close to N2m in her account and I am still on the payroll of my employer till now but unfortunately she wont be able to get my account statement. Anyone with useful suggestions should please offer it.

I have a friend dat resumed sept @ humber college and three wks after got an invitatn letter frm the schl to the embassy, for her family to visit her during xmas. dis invitation letter alongside other doc was used for visa application. (Maybe ur schl can do same, ask dem) However, u must av 3000 dollars for each of d kids and 4000 for adults. Excluding ticket fee. So if the 2 million covers all and dere wld be enuf left. I feel its ok.

My dear, what abt my post? It wasn't a scary one. I merely narrated a friends requirement to get a detailed report frm his haematologist stating his health conditn to buttress his medic result to cdhc. He did same medic as every other person. And because he's SS doesn't mean dey wld bounce him on healthgrounds provided all other prerequisites are satisfied. We've got loads of SS in d UK and USA. Canada wouldn't be an exception. He shldnt backout of his application. If that's what he wants, and its Gods will for his life he would be granted d VISA. My friend awaits his trv. Did medics 5wks ago.

I asked a family friend who has SS genotype wat happened during his medics.
He told dem abt his blood condition.
He was den instructed by d phyisician to get a detailed report from his heamatologist.
Dis comprises of ow he was faring with his condition, his stable blood percent(pcv), ow often he goes into crisis,his routine drugs,and ow often he needs to be transfused.
And dat was all.
As per his survival during winter, thermal clothing plenty o.
And above all, God is always faithful.
So if u av SS genotype, abeg no shaking. It is well

clusterphobia: Designated Medical Practitioner will arrange for the following tests:
 
- Large PA chest X-ray together with a radiologist's report for any person 11 yrs of age or older.
- Blood test (VDRL or similar test) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- A Urinalysis (sugar, protein, blood) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- HIV test for any person 15 yrs of age or older, children who have received blood or blood products, or have a known HIV mother, and all potential adoptees.

Besides the above, there will also be an 'Eye Test'. It is just a long distance reading of the Vision Table.

They will also check your blood pressure, height, weight and will perform general whole body check up. Better drink lots (and I mean lots and lots) of water before going for the urine test to get a good urine report. Don't deposit the first urine of the day.
Get blood pressure checked by some local doctor atleast 48 hours before your medical for immigration. Get medicine if required to make it normal. DMPs usually consider BP reading upto 130/90 as normal. Don't worry, they won't be able to find out about the medicine if you do not rerveal it.
Don't lie about any operation which has left visible scar on your body. Remeber they will throughly (I MEAN IT) check your body so don't lie about anything which they can find out.

How do u mean by sickle cell ish? BP can be managed. SCD is a blood condition dat is usually managed by d carriers. It isn't contagious.
What usually bcomes of dem?
After medics ? R u in d known?
I feel dey wld be bothered by diseases that r contagious and cld be transmitted.like HIV AIDS. STD's and d likes, Not sickle cell anaemia.
Even bad eye sights na to recommend glasses.
My sickler friends are brilliant oo. And dey r doing great.

She applied on 23rd of May. Medics call-18th, did medics. On 20th, and got trv 25th.
Our God is indeed awesome, medics and trv within a week
.when God is involved, Protocols wld be broken for Our sake!
She's resuming immediately, schl gave her till monday 30th. To God be the glory.

Nne... tell them not necessary as u have enough funds for ur study and u plan to full concentrate on the whole shibang of school....u will be fine... they may ask about ur past travel history too... and plz...be Super consistent....funny enough... it may be nothing special....but stay prepared.... Are u going for Nursing?
