k! but i still insist that there should be no doubt.
I do agree there should be no doubt, but for there to be no doubt you must know instead of merely believeing and trembling like demons.

I'll give an example.

I have no doubt that whatever you put your hand to will prosper. It is not because I believe, but because I know that whatever you put your hand to will prosper.

Now, maybe you don't yet know this for a fact, but one day, after you have put your hand to many things and seen them all prosper, you will also stop merely believing because you will most certainly know that whatever you put your hand to will prosper and you will one day return here to let me know you now know too.

Buda, in life people will come across shit, I just feel that there are some sacrifice one will have to make. At first it's entry level. Good for resume. Build the experience while enduring. Then when know you are in a financially balanced situation you can leave and look for another one. Something better. You can still working and be looking. I think we shouldn't be too sensitive, that in its self can draw us backward.
Na! Not buda! Far too arrogant is me. And I know my self worth. I would rather be Use Her Senses Eve and get kicked out of Eden than be ignorant naked afraid of dying enslaved Adam in the Garden of Eden for the free food!

In a work place you must put your differences aside and work together. If one of the two in conflicts can't do that then one has to leave. When I made that statement I was generally speaking. Let's look at this. Let's use a racist coworker. You know he is racist and has said racist things to you outside work, and you fought because of that. The next day both of you go to work and he brings a paper work you had to sign. Will you reject the papers because he brought it or you will take it sign it and explain one or two things that needs to be done if need be?
That's what I mean. You could raise the issue to your bosses and say you cannot work with him but if there is nothing they can do to replace him or do anything about the matter. It's either you quit or you work with him.
When you've worked as long as I have you're bound to have an anecdote so here goes.

One day after a heavy day's work I took my staff to the pub for drinks. We were there all evening drinking a lot when an altercation occured between a Malaysian manager of mine and a Nigerian member of staff, and the Malaysian uttered the n-word.

My first reaction was to hide under the table and make out I never heard it, pub banter you see, said while drunk and in the heat of the moment, but all my staff were having none of it and turned on me so I could not say I never heard it and so ended the fun that night.

Next morning, first thing, the Nigerian made an official complaint to me the manager, so I called up the Malaysian and suspended him according to procedure pending an investigation, which was carried out by Human Resources, and a few days later after interviewing the Malaysian and taking witness statements, knowing he was going to be fired for gross misconduct, the Malaysian dutifully resigned and I lost a hard working manager who had never ever been any sort of bigot prior to that one time.

Point is, it don't matter where you are being racist, even on twitter on your day off to non-work colleagues, you will be terminated and lose your employment once management becomes aware. Its a duty one takes on as a manager you see, to protect one's staff from known bigots, or you yourself, oneself should I say, would have been fired for incompetence.

Incidentally - and not that it had anything to do with anything - the Nigerian was eventually promoted to management too, and on merit.

A motor car is not imbued with a brain that is the mind inside the human, nor does the motor car wake up in the morning and decide where to go all by itself, both of which humans can do and a lot more. benalvino2:
You are passing on too many chances to get compensated. One member was racist towards you. What are the chances he will do it again? That's when you take evidence so that it won't be about your words vs his or her.
The guy was not stupid. His racism was by innuendo that 4 other blacks did not seem to notice so there was no evidence to be gotten. Besides, its not like today when I could have gotten evidence by secretly recording him on my mobile phone. There were no such devices 35 years ago, you see, and there was no compensation if terminated in the probation period.

benalvino2:
I have made my point clear from the get go. I was not talking about those who tried and had to leave, I said they should always speak out and call racism out. What I am talking about is those who just don't try because they think the system is racist. Then I also talk about those who don't have the qualifications but will cry racism when they don't get the job.
Well, we did start with a personal anecdote, one involving myself, and if you go back to the post you'd notice the second anecdote showed how vocal I became.

benalvino2:
Yes, you put it aside and work together. I don't see how the equality act goes against it.
In one sentence you say "speak out and call racism out", and above you say "you put it aside and work together".

Which is it ben? Or are you suggesting one do both?

benalvino2:
I did not say you said that. I am being fictitious, I am saying what might happen if somebody who got fired in your manner applied for next job and they didn't get it.
Your specific words were "Instead of you to wrongly accuse the next white man of being a racist", which I clearly never did.

It sounded like you were adding your fiction to my narrative, and then arguing your fiction with me as if it were mine.

If someone allows one instance of racism to dictate the rest of their life, I think we will agree that person has problems, but I instead left the job, applied for a new job, even mentioned the racist reasons I was fired from my previous job which I got, and was respectfully treated while I worked there, so I'd say my attitude and experience was the opposite of your "fictitious", or won't you agree?

benalvino2:
this does not give anyone the go ahead to discriminate on you or beat you or abuse you. You can sue whether you are on probation or not.
"Discriminate on you or beat you or abuse you" is not a right that is given or that anyone has. Those who "discriminate on you or beat you or abuse you", are wrongly impinging on one's rights, and if it had been after 2010 when the Equality Act became law, and if I had evidence, I might have stood a chance to sue, but as I said, I and the Jamaican were not fired because someone was racist towards us but because the person who was racist towards us felt threatened by us seeing his racist joke for what it was so he preemptively lied to protect himself. Smart devious dude, he was.

And no, you can't sue if terminated on probation if you have less than 2 years employment! Probation was 3 months at the time.

Note the link is post 2010, and I was much younger and less smart 35 or so years ago. I'd say it was valuable experience that has served me well in my work career as a managed employee and as a manager who employs others.

benalvino2:
There are guideline employers must follow to terminate you during probation.
They really just needed to say you did not pass probation, ben, and there's not much one could have done about it. You could not even appeal, and 35 years ago they even needed a lot less of a reason, just good paperwork.

You put no effort into 'believing' what you have shown us here, unless you want to tell us you did much work thinking about it in your head before putting the effort into the work that we are all lauding you here for doing.

If what you did here had remained a belief in your head, your thread would have been about the belief you had in your head, and you would have posted it in the religious section where you'd likely have been torn to bits for merely believing.

Be there shouting racism this and that. Allow others to fight your battle for you. If there is no consequences racism will be more mainstream. People and employees as well as employers won't think twice to be racist.
Come on Ben, we are doing so well so don't spoil it please! I was not shouting racism! One member of staff racially disrespected me. The company supported him and fired me, and I walked away. So where's the "shouting racism this and that"?

In fact is it not more true that staying (though since I was fired that might have been difficult!), would have been me "shouting racism this and that"? And is that not what you suggested I do but I didn't?

As for your "fighting racism", you really should read up about the Equality Act and the battles fought to get it, and how the exact opposite of your "At the workplace whatever difference you have with someone you must put it aside and work together", is how we individually fight it. If I put it aside as you suggest, I am promoting racism, is what I'd gave thought, or don't you think so?

benalvino2:
Your dignity is to sue them, take the compensation and tell them to go fuq themselves. That's how you fight racism. Instead of you to wrongly accuse the next white man of being a racist because he gave the job to someone else after finding out you were fired because of incompetence. I don't see the dignity in that. But your way is your way.
Okay, I am about to give up now because somehow you are either misunderstanding or intentionally adding to what I've said because nowhere have I "accuse the next white man of being a racist because he gave the job to someone else after finding out you were fired because of incompetence!

In fact, I have clearly repeatedly stated how I was treated with dignity in my very next job which must obviously have been given to black me or it wouldn't have been my job!

And the job I was fired from was in the probation period, which is shorter than the legal time you can sue for wrongful dismissal.

I had not been there long enough to use the proper tools to prove any point, or to ever need them as a reference, and they did not smear me because I was not smeared.

Its like say you or anyone here insults buda. It is up to buda whether buda is insulted or not, and most often, as you might have noticed, buda is not insulted one tiny bit.

benalvino2:
You said they fired you. How can they use your time when they fired you?
They can't use my time, obviously, and I will not allow them to use my time by making a victim of myself and giving my time to them.

Do tell, does that not sound like what you would advise Black Americans not to allow to be done to themselves, to be categorized as helpless victims?

benalvino2:
This does not have anything to do with workplace activities. At the workplace whatever difference you have with someone you must put it aside and work together.
No, Ben. I do not work in some country where the boss can disrespect you, call you all sorts of names, kick your ass, not pay your wages on time and expect you to do your job! Slavery, which is what that would be, has been abolished. Nay! Slavery was not even practised where I live. Sorry. Besides, we have this thing called Equality Act 2010 which I suggested you learn about here, but which it seems you never bothered.

benalvino2:
Your boss fired you saying you are not competent. What will you say to an interviewer if they ask you why you left your last job? Are you sure you did not need your dignity back?
Actually, at my very next job's interview I told the story as I've told it here and they went to extreme effort to assure me that there is no way I'd experience such a thing if I worked for them.

I had skills they wanted you see, so I didn't need to be selling myself short and never have.

benalvino2:
There are some people who prefer to resign than be fired because it matters at your next interview or your employer calling your previous job to know why they let you go.
I have resigned from many jobs even without the threat of being fired, and in fact that has actually been the only job I have been fired from, and thinking back I now wonder what made me take the job in the first place as it was far beneath my skills set and paid a lot less than I was worth. I guess serves me right for aiming so low, but it was more a training job, so. But as I've said, I was not there long enough to need them as a reference, and I narrated why I was fired at my next interview myself and stated the reaction when I did, and I must say that through out my employment in my new job they were loyal to their word.

By the way, what you've said above shows the mentality I spoke of that you seem to have misunderstood. You the immigrant will stick with a job regardless of what they throw at you, while I the native will say "fuq them" and take my skills elsewhere. Can you see how a racist employer might prefer loyal you over cause trouble me if skills are not the relevant issue?

There was nothing erroneous about what I said. Now I want to go back to that thread and present the follow up. When you refused to acknowledge you make mistake instead blame me what do you expect. When you first posted it I said rubbish.
First, I do not post rubbish. I spent far too much time educating myself to be posting rubbish. If you do not understand, ask for clarification, as you yourself suggested one should.

And second, you can not attempt to impose your own misunderstanding on me and then claim I made a mistake. It's the well known fallacy on here of strawmanning, which intelligent people refrain from committing because they soon learn it just makes them seem ignorant.

When I make mistakes, which I sometimes do do, I am well known to raise my hands up and admit it. Just that I have sufficiently matured over the years to make fewer mistakes, and you want me to agree with what I can not possibly agree with!

An example is you comment below about dignity:

benalvino2:
Dignity is when they fire claiming you are incompetent and you sure them and restore your dignity by proving they fired you because they are racist.
I mean, what am I? 12 years old seeking the approval of teacher who writes you off?

if I was fired for incompetence and they are wrong, or for racism which is wrong, they have already indicated I am not valued so why should I be undignified to myself by wasting my time trying to prove I am valuable to them when they are not the only employers in town?

Seriously, at this current phase of my life I laugh at the thought of what you suggest, and you've read my reaction when it happened almost 35 years ago! I guess I've always respected myself highly, and I'm an arrogant fuq who would rather starve to death than settle for a chain around my neck as those who know me will inform you.

Perhaps I should introduce you to my Gospel of Use the Senses Eve as opposed to that of stupid ignorant naked enslaved afraid to die Adam, and you might understand. Though I bet we'd disagree because you wouldn't understand, though not many agree either so you'd be in the company of a majority.

Also, we are saying the same thing. Let me show you how
I don't have to prove anything to those who disvalue me because of my skin color, ben.

In fact, I value myself so highly that if you attempt to disvalue me for whatever reason I do not need to allow you to benefit from my time or my effort.

You will notice this attitude in me by those I discuss with on here. Those who can not respect themselves by discussing intelligently, even if we disagree, are not expected to respect me so do not get any attention from me.

It is not the Gods that have turned Nigeria into what it is but we the imperfect humans who do not do what God told us to do!

First, we are not to live by bread alone or we shall be malnourished. To live, your diet must be balanced, so instead of only taking our understanding of God from Europe and from Arabia, we must seek widely and take the understanding of the Gods from China, and Russia, and USA and from every human being that lives on the Earth that God created with the Word.

Second, the plan and the instruction to all humans was:

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

But I am certain you will agree that we Nigerians have not even learnt to rule over ourselves not to talk of rule over that which we are empowered and instructed to rule over in order to be blessed.

When we Nigerians fulfil the plan and obey the command above, we too shall be blessed, and not one single day before that because God did not lie when it is written God said, cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

It means, Nigerians! Get off your lazy fuq asses and make manna for yourselves! Which is the result of the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil., though we are still not yet learning to know good and evil since we ignorantly believe we must not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for fear that we shall surely die on the day that we eat, yet, poor afraid and ignorant us!

We just need learn to use our own senses to test if we will surely die, and if not, then become able to put forth our hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and increase our average lifespan from our pitiable about 60.87 years even if we do not live forever, because it sure is about a decade short of that what's promised and a lot lower that USA at 78.54 years, and even Kenya at 66.34 years!

You can not possibly argue with me that the countries we see developing around us are not those where the people have eaten of the fruits of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and are now going on to rule over Mars and Uranus and Jupiter, while, well, Nigeria we hail ourselves, I suppose.
