Alaba market has been closed since the 24th of December. Reopening date is 8th of January when a few of the traders would have returned. Now you can see that for two weeks, no business. No buying, no selling. Vehicles drive freely on that road. Those who do business in Alaba international must be grieving the delay. Meanwhile full business will resume just before the end of January. Traders are enjoying their holiday, their hard earned money, collecting chieftaincy titles, marrying wives, visiting family and friends, wining/dining inspite of all the federal government induced stress.

That “lost contact” was one very painful part of the story. He probably disconnected with his family because of the same woman. His siblings probably warned him against the relationship and he stubbornly went ahead. The result is this story of woman termed “fair weather friend”.

Hopefully his siblings can see him and help him out. Thanks to the hospital for helping him.

I live in the UK and have attended numerous 'oyibo' and Nigerian churches. I belong to a Nigerian church family that does a decent level of charity giving to the community every single week. But I wouldn't see 'black' and call it 'white' for the sake of patriotism.... Truth is that in general, there's absolutely no ground for comparison between the level of charity giving by oyibo churches vs. Nigerian churches. The report is also similar from several friends and family in Canada. It's also ironic that in these oyibo churches, they rarely even call for members to give, as opposed to how things are in Nigerian churches abroad.

Certainly the level of giving is dictated by what one has in his pocket/purse/account. Our economy is a great decider of the level of our spending or giving. That's easily verifiable.

Again, I am bold to say that Nigerians are among the biggest and confident people in the world. Infact in the eighties, there were two groups of people well respected in the UK for their abilities to give or spend...the Arabs and Nigerians.

My point has been that churches are populated by people. Again, the financial abilities of the churches defer. Added to that is that there certainly is a gulf in the financial abilities of churches in both countries. However, giving is of the mind. Again is the fact that churches are able to give on the basis of their income, basically donated by people.

So for me, whether they are "oyibo churches" or Nigerian churches, they generally have their legitimate sources of income, through which they are able to render such charity works. Those sources or income are centered on the people, who are either members of the church or others interested in helping the church financially.

It is like mixing whiskey, stout, energy drinks, beer and palmie and thinking the person would be sane. Kenneth Okonkwo would likely jump to another party before 2027; the only thing consistent about his political journey is his inconsistency.

Your first paragraph leaves one wondering if you are in tune with the actions and behavior of Nigerian politicians. I want to ask if you are not aware that Nigerian politicians generally copy each other. Who says that Tinubu did not see Obi’s manifesto, copied it and went to the press with it first.

Tinubu organized and coordinated strikes in 2014 to stop GEJ’s plan to end the fuel subsidy regime? The same Your Tinubu turned around to copy it and tell us that “subsidy is gone” on the first day.

If LP is not the present opposition party, what’s stopping SDP, NNPP and PDP from letting us hear their voices? How is it that Obi/LP have become the major threat to APC inspite of your claim?

Please read through your comment once again and make the necessary corrections, after proper study of the realities of our politics.

Go to some ministries and parastatals today with a proposal. If you are asked to drop it and come back, you just gifted someone your idea. They simply copy it and submit. They get the approvals for themselves. When you return to check, they hand over your documents to you and tell you that they were not accepted by oga. The next, you’ll find someone carrying out the job with another name.
