flokii:I truly hope so. By the time we spilt up, I won't want any true tribe or ethnic nationality separated again as they did with Berlin Conference. Even if they are very small, I hope to see true nations populate Africa and not some man-made countries. |
HEAVEN4444:Well done. You are spiritually gifted true, true. I also had a revelation about same COA telling me these; 1. No one knows who designed Nigerian COA while the designer of Ghana's COA is well known. 2. That the flower in the COA is Coctus spectabilis commonly known as the "yellow trumpet" but the colour was changed to red in Nigeria COA to show the dominance of Britain. (Union Jack has no yellow). 3. That the green and white band represents Nigeria (just like the flag) as coded by Britain and not fertile land as they told us. 4. That the wavy white pall does not represent River Niger and River Benue but the three main divisions of the country. The North is smaller as divided by the pall because it represents the smallest economic importance to Britain while in reality, as divided by the rivers, the North has the largest land mass. 5. That the black shield represents abundance of natural resources, especially crude oil nicknamed "black gold" and not some fertile soil bullcrap. Britain has been stealing oil since before WW1. 6. That the red eagle symbolises strong, ruthless predator that has excellent vision good enough to see all and know all. What's more? It's red colour is derived from the Union Jack, and more importantly, from England's contribution to the Union Jack - the red and white flag. 7. That white horses are borrowed from the Bible's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They bring death. Significantly, the horses are placed on both sides of the black shield, guarding and guiding it. Any mess up means the horses would bring death to the country. 8. Finally, that the COA is a symbol of Nigeria's continued servitude to Britain and any sensible Nigerian should never respect it. I rest my case. |
petitejolie:True. I inferred same when I wrote that their Kiths and kind already domiciled in the area might be the contact points. |
flokii:I concur. If we must split, then all man to his tent. I won't absolve the lesser tribes in the North. When the the Yorubas tried to muscle the Mid-West, they raised alarm and got Bendel created. For political correctness and religious sentiments, most lesser tribes and ethnics up North remained silent and sometimes, silence is mistaken for weakness or ignorance. Silence is golden but words are silveren and not exactly useless. If they raise their voices, even under subjugation, we will reference that now. Up until Buhari era, it has always been one, indivisible North as far as I know. As for the Yorubas in the middle belt. It's up to them to determine their own fate. The recent "hijab crisis" in Ilorin sends a message that needs to be interpreted and we'll understood. Are the Yorubas in the middle belt acculturated to the extent that they are more comfortable with Hausa/Fulani culture and are just retaining the Yoruba tongue for convenience or are they still very much Yoruba at heart? They are the only ones that can tell us with their own voices. |
Fiscus105:The indegene duped his own people in the long run. With their money gone and nothing to go back to up North, most of them will take to menial jobs to survive, while they learn the terrain. Then they take to criminality, causing trouble to the locals without any remorse because they'll feel their action is justified by one of the indegenes starting the criminality game in the first instance. How is the military training they signed up for in first place supposed to serve them? Maybe in the area of criminality. |
flokii:Forget the treachery of one man. Almost all those our political "heroes past" messed up one way or another, playing into the hands of the colonialists. From Zik to Awo to Sardauna to Osadebey. The problem now is the neglected commoners from the North have become nuisances all over the country, coupled with their invited kinsmen from Niger Republic and Chad. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg yet. The real storm is loading. How do we redress the situation or negotiate the secession of the South as soon as possible so we don't sink along with them. Forget bigotry, ethnocentrism and tribalism. It's ultimately the South against the North. |
dalass:Exactly the drift. Now my problem is the future. If they don't start giving the children mass education up north, where would we be in 30 years time when the number of restive youths would be triple the present population? Is it that these guys are mentally lazy or the fabled systemic failure designed by the oligarchy to keep the commoners lacking in modern education in effect? Whatever it is, the future is not looking so bright at all. Or am I being too pessimistic? |
DDDEnterprises:Lol |
" An indegene of the town facilitated the trip". There, you have it. Most of the time, strangers don't just wander in and start causing troubles in a terrain they don't understand. There must be an insider involvement, even if it's just the criminals kinsman that understands the terrain. Until we start holding ourselves accountable and we take closer looks at our neighbours, the security problems may persist. |
Mariangeles:Nairaland, our Nairaland. The only land, apart from Nigeria, where your positive contribution can be turned into the most negative thing due to bigotry and ethnocentrism. If it were Quora, I'd let it stand cos I'm pretty sure but here, right or wrong don't count. Only sentiments. Thanks anyway. |
Over to the 'Agric major' students. |
Philipponzaghi: |
How can you be "para-mallam"( anti-islamic) in northern Nigeria today and hope for peace?! Even, "pro-mallams" they chop am for the hands of evil Fulani Muslims. |
Let's hope they won't be pardoned and given some soft landing to relax for a while before going back to what they've been hired and encouraged to do again. Daudawa is already back in Zamfara forest while the DSS is doing everything possible to arrest ESN members protecting their territory from the state-backed marauders. |
BluntTheApostle:Thanks for the enlightenment. I appreciate. |
I don't know much about law. However, I know Michael Jackson and Bill Cosby got sued for sexual problems that happened way back in the past. Since the matter is being investigated and will definitely go before the court, I think it's better to refrain from rash conclusions and media trial. It's only a matter of time before a conclusion is reached. All in all, Baba Ijesha is in enough trouble already. How many people will hire him with trust issue hanging around his neck like an albatross? |
And Chief Minister Lie Mohammed still thinks Nigerian youths and the media are the reasons Twitter sited their HQ in Ghana. Lol. Continue. |
Righteousness2:Is everyone "young men" to pastors?! To call a 50 year old "young man" means you are either 70+ or just very arrogant. Which are you? |
With government firmly in support of the likes of Pantami, this and more like this is what we should expect in this country for the foreseeable future. |
Hitler had his plans. Musolini had his plans. Gaddafi had his plans. Awolowo, Zik, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, IBB, Abacha and Abiola had plans. Recently, Abba Kyari and Mamman Daura had plans. Even, Tinubu has plans. However, God keeps the masterplan upon which every other plan depends. If it is His will for anything to happen, it must come to pass. Otherwise, humans just waste their time. Let's keep praying and working hard to make the world around us a better place, as we put our faith in the victory of good over evil. |
CP Nasiru, talk truth, you want talk say you no know your tribesmen carrying out those dastardly acts? Anywhere and anytime a Hausa/Fulani man is in charge, then it's Othman Dan Fodio territory where 'they' can do and undo. |
Come back to Nigeria to invest at your own risk. If corruption don't get you, the police/security agents should. If your village people fail to kill you, the herdsmen should. If sychophant friends don't suck you dry, self-serving employees should. Any way you play it, it's a lose-lose situation. Maybe you should check back in 5 years time. Hopefully, the Bullion van man from Bourdillon won't make it there and Bubu and his blood-sucking demons should be gone by then. |
Autopsy, please. We can conclude it was ritual after that but not before. 25 cadavas should be enough for a just conclusion. |
Really, it's a choice for the mission schools to be more tolerant and accommodate hijab-wearing female students for the students' sake but specify the kind and colour of hijab to match the school uniforms. However, I don't think it should be mandated. I was at Somolu Central Mosque last week and I saw a woman not only refused entry into the mosque cos she didn't have her head properly covered, she was thoroughly embarrassed. |
Simple If you want to get unmerited appointment and promotions in Nigeria Civil Service - Hausa If you want to be able to kill with impunity without being prosecuted - Fulfude If you want to go into entertainment, especially the music industry or learn Yahoo plus - Yoruba If you want to be a hustler in commercial sector, learning to make money by all means necessary - Igbo If you want to travel abroad on hmmm business - Bini However, the universal language that would work for you everywhere you go, Nigeria and beyond - Money |
Permutations and combinations. Abba Kyari used to be the head of the cabal wrestling every political gladiator to the ground. Now he's no more. Let's wait till 2023 and see who is still here, up and running. Then, real forecast can start. |
Sigh...... Northerners, Nigeriens, Chadians and co. are all flooding the South, placing enormous pressure on the resources and still playing the victim card! I don't understand why the colonialists didn't pool these people with like cultures together and spare us this problem! It's not too late though. Soon, there shall be realignment, whether they like it or not. |
Anigreat:Excellent piece. However, don't you think it's supposed to be composed in Igbo? If it's a national anthem, it's only fitting for it to be written in the national language. It's about time we started leaving the colonial mentality behind. |
jumper524:I'm neither a judge nor a jury. I don't know if the Muslims are right or Christians wrong. I'm not against your opinion cos everyone is entitled to one. I just want express my own opinion. I think the government needs to hand the Christian missionary schools back to the owners and hand off management (give no grant or support) but only regulate according to state laws. The Muslims should also be encouraged to build Islamic mission schools too and to run according to the tenets of Islam. Maybe the traditionalists should be given a chance to start their own schools and impact knowledge according to the recommendations of their own faith. Finally, in all public school created by the state, all religious people school be allowed to practice their faith in moderation without hindrance or harassment. Hijab, skull cap, turban, iru-kere, opele, rosary, cassock, dread-locks, cowrie shells etc. would cease being problems then and the children can focus on proper learning. People should be allowed to practice their faith but within a well defined jurisdiction to avoid unnecessary rancour. |
It's crazy. Can't the Muslims just opt for their own schools? Establish your own schools and do everything the Islamic way and leave Christian schools to Christians to control the way that suit their own faith. |
