Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How Does One Comfort Self After Receiving 3 Job Rejections In One Week? by casualobserver: 11:17am On Jul 08, 2023
You don’t need comfort, you need to be uncomfortable that whatever you have been doing was rejected. Your comfort or need for comfort is why you were rejected so stop looking for comfort and look for discomfort for it is in discomfort that we improve.

Was it not you that invited them to monitor the election? What do you mean by external influence? Or you simply invited to observe and not write reports?
They were invited to write accurate and unbiased reports. In any scientific analysis, incidents in even up to 5000 out of 172,000 polling units ( which was nowhere near the number of incidents) does not invalidate an election. To say that makes an election fraudulent is itself a fraudulent conclusion.

I don't think so... Being fluent in English doesn't make u intelligent. Some persons learnt English as their mother tongue. Also, everyone isn't good at public speaking. Some can speak poorly, but write better. I speak from experience.

Also, judging from d way she was talking, could u believe she would score lesser in English? 66
I agree with you that ordinarily English is not a measure of Intelligence. However, for a Nigerian student and in the context of academics, it is. Why? Because English is your language of instruction, English is your language of communication. Whether physics, economics, chemistry, engineering, law etc etc, your textbooks, your lectures, your essays, your projects are in English. Your level of English particularly English comprehension is an indication of your academic prowess because it is an indication of your ability to understand and communicate effectively.

Now let me make it clear, If you do a post history check, I have said it many times, that we should be taught in our native languages because the number 1 problem bedeviling Nigerians is their poor level of english comprehension despite speaking English. If you do not understand the real meaning of the words being said or the words you are using, you are not really communicating or understanding what is being said. It is an epidemic in Nigeria as evident daily on Nairaland. This is the reason why Nigerian students from a country that speaks English are asked to take English proficiency examinations abroad.

In summary

1. I stand by my assertions, as far as academics, English is the language of academic communication. if your grasp of English is poor you are extremely unlikely to finish top of your class no matter how naturally intelligent you are.

2. As far as natural (outside of classroom) intelligence, the girl is clearly not that intelligent. For God’s sake she didn’t even realize her own DOB, exam center, registration number on the document she printed were wrong and clearly not intelligent or exposed enough to know verify the QR code on the form she was printing.

3. As an educated Nigerian, who has been through the school system and for so long as English is our official language, the first indication of intelligence is your proficiency in English, your ability to display you are intelligent enough is to exhibit you have learnt English properly.

Except a woman has made up her mind that she does not want to have kids. Having children at a fertile age is key. Please do not wait too long to settle down or marry. It is not easy for many women after the age of 35 to 40s to conceive children. It is very possible for a woman to have children in her 40s and even 50s but the chances are not high compared to a woman in her 20s.

Should a woman marry a madman or have a baby with an irresponsible man because one wants to have kids? Definitely no.

Do not fall into the category of a woman who is so focused on her careers or degree that she ignore to date or ignore life after work. That PhD can wait if you already have a Master.
Tell young women they should also stop advertising their dirty linen on the internet, it will make it hard for them when it comes time to find a husband.

Politics › Re: Obi Is Not A Member Of Labour Party: Tinubu, Shettima Tender Membership Register by casualobserver:
IfnobeGod20:
Submission of membership register of a political party to INEC is never a prerequisite for disqualification of candidate in Nigeria. Because there is no timeline for absorption of members into the party. No law forbids party absorbing people into their camp, even till the date of election. This case has already been decided by FHC and Appeal Court extensively. Any person the party sponsor becomes a bonafide member of that party. Sponsorship is the number one criteria by the party according to constitution.

Below are the conditions to disqualify a candidate in Nigeria by law:

section 131 of the Constitution provides four personal requirements, namely;

You must be a Nigerian citizen by birth
You must be at least 40 years old
You must belong in a political party and sponsored to the office of the President
You must be educated up to at least school certificate level or its equivalent
So what needs to happen to be disqualified from becoming president?
Section 137 of the Constitution provides grounds for disqualification to the office of President. Unlike the qualification requirements, this one’s a longer list. A person shall not be qualified for office of the president if they;

Have dual citizenship, although this is subject to the provisions of Section 28 of the Constitution.
Served two terms as President.
Have been declared to be a lunatic or of unsound mind by any law in Nigeria.
Are under a death sentence, or sentenced to prison for fraud.
Are convicted of fraud or dishonesty less than ten years before the election date.
Have been declared bankrupt.
Haven’t resigned from any public office at least 30 days before the election.
Belong in a secret society.
Have been indicted for embezzlement or fraud by a judicial commission or tribunal.
Present a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
From what I have seen so far, you are one of the few Obidients who is intelligent and from your post above understands the legal issues.

Like I said before most of the issues people are ranting about have no basis in court and are only introduced to excite the base.

Below is a tweet from the chief PEPT correspondent of the Obidients. She is a member of Obi’s campaign council, a regular court attendee and the source of most of the court info for Obidients. She is the one giving false hope to Obidients. Most of the issues she has listed are irrelevant, have no legal basis in the PEPT and therefore are not worth defending. But read what she says. Tinubu’s case is dead because his lawyers did not defend them. You don’t waste your time defending something that has no legal basis. It is like a madman on the street rejoicing because you did not engage him or someone in the gutter saying he won and you are afraid of him because you refused to join him in the gutter. She is celebrating Tinubu’s lawyers not defending the charges not realizing they did not respond because the case is so baseless and stupid.

Like I said the only legal issues before the court are 25% of Abuja and who won the election according to the evidence of the EC8 forms.

I am not a lawyer but As for 25% of FCT, I refer you to section 42 (1) b of the constitution. (Rights of the Nigerian citizen and equality of all citizens). As for who won the election, they have not shown how what is on the EC8 forms is different frrom what was announced. That is what they need to prove.

Let me also state here that on the issue of dual citizenship. By law you are disqualified only if you are not a dual citizen by birth e.g Saraki. I.e you are disqualified if you voluntarily acquired citizenship of a country and swore allegiance to another country. In this regard, I fear for Sanwo-Olu because I have seen Femi Pedro’s INEC form and he swore allegiance to the US when acquiring US citizenship. However having a diplomatic passport is not the same thing as having citizenship of a country. They are 2 different things. You can be on assignment for a country and be granted a diplomatic passport for that country. A good example is when Nigerian lawyers were seconded to other countries as judges. An uncle of mine was once the chief judge of Gambia. In such situations the country may grant you a diplomatic passport without you being a citizen. Also citizens of other countries are made ambassadors of small countries and may be granted diplomatic passports because they are acting on behalf of that country….it is not the same thing as citizenship. It’s just a high level international travel document that give the force of authority of that country for the duration of the assignment. That said courts over the years have bastardized the law on dual citizenship. Femi Gbaja is not a dual citizen by birth but he got away with it. Technically speaking once you swear allegiance to another country which is a requirement to become a naturalized US citizen, you can’t even be appointed a commissioner. So I don’t know where the law stands on that. The one thing I do know is that diplomatic passport case is DOA, it is not the same thing as or proof of citizenship.

Mr. man, submission of membership register to INEC 30 days to primary election is never a criterion for disqualification of candidate in Nigerian constitution nor the electoral Act. Nowhere in the two books wherein it is stated that not having your name in the party register submitted to INEC makes you non-member. I challenge you and anyone in this forum or elsewhere to quote any section of our laws that stipulate such.
I am waiting for you to state the section. Even the electoral Act that says submit membership register never say or stop party from admitting members after submission of the said membership register or say new entrant to the party can not be sponsored by the party. There is no timeline to be a member of any political party in Nigeria and there is no timeline for a political party to sponsor any member according to our laws. This case had been decided by the FHC and Appeal Court of our land and there is no way a Presidential tribunal will overrule its own decision because they are coordinate court and cannot override themselves.

APC, Tinubu and Shettima are just holding on to shaking straw, no merit in it because no law to back their claim.
Oga I know all this but when you are dealing with idiots you play them at their game. They say when your enemy is maki g a mistake, you do t discourage him, just like APC did not discourage OBi when he left PDP. The matter before the court is who won the election but since LP and PDP want to waste the court’ and Nigerian’s time on matters that are not actionable in court, we can play the game too.

The law says all parties must submit members list 30 days before primaries, it does not state that if you are not a member 30 days before you can’t contest but since these idiots want to engage in trivialities, we can also indulge them and engage in trivialities.

1. Irev is irrelevant
2. Conviction over 10 yrs (whether criminal or civil) is irrelevant
3. Certificates from 1999 or 2003 are irrelevant.
4. Who a party puts forward as its candidate is not another party’s business. This matter has been settled before in court and I believe was stated again today in court.

All these things are trivialities but it seems it is what has occupied the PEPT since it’s inception. It is important to state here,” that the reason why INEC and Tinubu concluded their defense in one day and with just 1 witness rash is precisely because the whole case of LP and PDP is based on trivialities that have no relevance to the issue at hand.

The real legal issues before the court are

1 who won the elections according to what is in BVAS and the EC8 forms
2. Is 25% of FCt compulsory

If people want to engage I. Nollywood drama, we can engage them in Nollywood drama but trust me I know that all this talk of whether Obi is qualified to run under LP is irrelevant. It is not APC’s business just as whether Shettima is qualified to run is not LP’s business. I have only commented on it to show the hypocrisy of Obi and LP.l challenging the nomination of Shettima when they themselves did not follow the law. Legally it is nobody’s business how a party arrives at its candidate.

I repeat, the only actionable issues before the courts are those in bold above. Everything else is a side show, playing to the gallery, energizing the base, theatrics, entertainment …..Nollywood!!

Peter Obi talks alot about process But its very funny how he does not know some basics.

PDP recieved and authorised that letter 25th, that is the day Peter Obi resignation becomes effective by corporate & legal standard quote me anywhere wink
Well what matters is the day the ward stamped the letter. If you resign from a party it is not the national executive that matters but the ward. Either way he was still a member of PDP on May 20th by his own admission.

I am telling you the procedure for registration and resignation. It happens at the ward level. You don’t go to PDP HQ in Abuja and say you want to register from Enugu ward, they will tell you to go to your ward in Enugu.

Again read the letter again,
he is simply informing g the national executive because he is a high profile member and involved in the primaries. He clearly states he has informed his ward that he has resigned. Unfortunately no one has a copy of the letter he sent to the ward. This is not a resignation letter, the resignation letter was sent to the chairman of his ward. This letter is merely to inform them out of courtesy that since he has resigned, he is no longer participating in the primaries. Again read the letter it is not a resignation letter it is a letter of withdrawal from primaries. However the letter specifically states the day he resigned and informed his ward.

The ward is where you register or resign. This letter is merely a courtesy letter to the national executive because he is a high profile member.

It does not change anything. He was a PDP member after the expiration of the deadline for parties to submit their register of members.

That is an understandable alteration. He claimed he informed his ward on the 20th of May, and his letter says he is no longer a member effective 20th May. Registration and deregistration takes place at the ward level. The letter to the national executive is just a formality, perhaps out of courtesy to inform them that since he has resigned, he is no longer a candidate in the primaries.

He left the PDP officially on 20th May…..still 28 days after the April 22 INEc deadline. Note: LP presidential primaries was 30th May, so he joined LP at most 10 days before their primaries. He could not have been on their register 30 days before the primaries as require by law.

Understand that the reason why this law was enacted was to prevent people jumping from one party to another after losing their primaries in a party. It’s a more serious offense than that which they accused Shettima of.
