1. The burden of performance always falls on the shoulders of men because they were structured for it by evolution or biology or nature or natural selection. I was reading the abstract of a psychology article yesterday which stated that men developed longer arms not really for hunting per say but for violence/war and this is not far from the truth.

2. The burden of performance is like a coin with a head and tail. The tail is the real burden of performance and the head is power and control. Analysis on only the tail end will blind the eyes of men in seeing the other side of the coin. OK, lets not consider this from a man and woman angle, but from a child(ren) and parent(s) perspective. The one that has the highest burden of performance controls the administration of the relationship, just like the government of any nation. Parents and the government invests more, ergo, they are the judges and arbiters at home and nation respectively.

3. It is said that the one(A) who needs the other(B) the least has the knob of the relationship. This can only be possible if A can live independently but choose to parasitize on B and B fails to see that he can also live independently with or without A. What can a child do without her parents or the masses without their government?

4. Power and control which is the ultimate leverage over people and resources is the reward for men's burden of performance. Women can never attain that position no matter how much they wail and inveigh day and night even till eternity because they can't risk the pain, blood and sweat that comes with it. Even if they try, they will get consumed when they are done. Hell doesn't or hardly refines women unlike men. If everything in the book is not reviewed to favour men with appropriate rewards and women still enjoying their privileges, Men will continually retract themselves from what will benefit their community and society at large.

Understandsting human nature will be incredibly important in understanding the relationship between the male and female species.

Funnily, tracing it back to the roots, that is, to an evolutionary basis, it is true men do these things for women because it leads to a successful passing of their genes from one generation to another. Evolution in males (tallness, broadness, energetic, ambitiousness etc) are a result of women's preferences in men. If women never found interest in these men, Men wouldn't have evolved to possess these traits, at least, on average. If men never preferred fertility, beauty, youthfulness in women, women wouldn't have evolved to possess these traits on average. As a result, natural selection selected for the genes causing these traits. This is an unconscious, automatic processing. Our ancestors didn't sat down deliberating on these genes and traits, it is about the the survival and reproduction of the fittest genes.

On a cerebral aspect, that is, conscious, deliberative reasoning and thoughts, Men and women think they do these things for themselves and well-being. Of course it is true, because "evolution is survival of the fittest", but this is not totally correct. It is the survival and reproduction of the fittest genes". For these genes to survive an organism must do the right thing, however, the genes are the ones sponsoring this, and waiting for natural selection to do the finishing touch by taking them to the next generation.

As we all know, women on the average don't settle down for men that are poor, disabled or weak. Ditto for men. Because doing so will hamper their ability to produce fresh and fit offsprings which will pass their genes to the next generation. Settling down for the worst or least means eradication from the gene pool, hence, must go for the best mates.

Men will always be ambitious because women had set the standard that only ambitious men will reproduce; and women, protect their beauty and fertility because that's the standard in getting an ambitious man to mate with.

Nevertheless, as a result of culture, science and technology, the weak still manages to pass their genes. But even from a microscopic mode, mates still see the "best" in their weaknesses.
