mctfopt:Dude says Coronavirus things did not let workers resume in factory o. They don't usually pre-fabricate these batteries in warehouses. They get to manufacture them when you place orders. The guy don order tey tey, but as Corona no gree people go work, he is still stranded. Reason I'm likely gonna opt for the 9ja manufacturer option. |
kiekie1:Hehehe. This is the consumption of my freezer in four places. In fact abeg anyone reading this, I'm looking for buyers for the following: LG cabinet fridge, 207 litres thermocool freezer, 14 inches LG CRT TVs (2 units), 32 inches LG LCD TV, 42 inches startimes LCD combo TV, sliding gate opener (AC powered). These are the remaining few of things I've retired for energy efficient ones. I don dash out enough so tey I don tire. Biko I wan make small money too so make una help me find buyers for those things o. |
ojeysky:12v 120ah, 155k, procured and installed since 4 months ago. Stuff was imported from China by the Nigerian supplier - I later found out the name of the factory (written on the nameplate) as a manufacturer on Alibaba. |
Penuelseun:The DVDs usually have 220vac to around 16v or 12v DC (depending on the age of the device) output transformers on their board, there hasn't been big DVDs with 5v operating voltage. The DC output them gets distributed by the power pack to various operating points like the DVD mechanical drive (which takes around 5v to 7v, the linear tray motor for disc eject (around 5v), the motor that rotated the disc itself (5v), the sound board (3v), the picture processing board (12v), if it has cooling fan (12v). All that cannot easily be tweaked for 12v except you can get up to 4amps current of 12v. The best you can do is if you have 19vdc input which you can then distribute via limiting resistors and current dividers to power those various components. Easiest way though is for him to get a DVD Walkman that works on just 3 pcs AA batteries. Chai! Nostalgia. I still have those portable sony cassette player walkman DVD Walkman and an audio Walkman still lying around. We dey always take dem do big boys those days. You go come dey waka like robot because you don't want to shake the device so that the scrathing sound problem wont occur, a problem later addressed with DVD players that come with ARS (Advanced Reading System) that digitally addresses that problem by reading and processing tracks few seconds ahead. |
Valto:Yeah. |
D'you remember the LG battery TV of those days that got taken outta circulation? There's another brand in the market from Polystar now with 28 inches offer of rechargeable TV and users have reported 5 hrs backup after full charge. According to the specs, the battery capacity is 7,500mah.

durodee:And not just that. Okay, assuming by some fluke other than Low Voltage Disconnect, the BMS trips off due to maybe something like High voltage protection or short circuit protection and this happens when the sun is high up in the sky, then your CC can get fried. |
ojeysky:Thanks. I did chat the guy up and the downside was that requirement of grid to boost back the BMS in case it trips. My current pack isn't like that and the manufacturer indicated that it can be connected in series. |
Peterlove11:I don't think so. The BMS used in that seems to be different from the type that can be connected in series. There is also another peculiarity of the BMS that I don't seem to get down with; something that has to do with "only grid power (and not solar) can start the BMS when it shuts off due to low voltage protection" Maybe Ojeysky can shed more light on those, since he has been using that product for sometime now. |
ojeysky:Okay. Thanks. 39 watts at lowest speed for a 16 inches fan is still on the high side in my opinion. |
MasterRahl:I think Africans should try to pay 'em back in their own coin. Set up people from Nigeria with the Lassa fever virus and someone from the Congo or Serria Leone with the Ebola virus. These walking bombs should be deployed to countries that have been implicated in bringing COVID-19 into Africa. |
Dam5reey:I think the low power consumption is more achievable by the fact that the motor is BLDC. |
Topmost11:https://www.nairaland.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta/631#85190420 Plug accessories come with the laptop power bank. It's just a DIY case, you'll need to get yourself the lithium batteries - 6 pieces. The box alone costs about 5k5. You can charge the power bank with solar panel (supports up to 60 watts 18v solar panel) or you can charge it with a regular laptop charger (18v 4amps). |
eleojo23: ![]() Been to hell and back severally on account that spambot overzealousness. I type on this thread now as if walking on eggshells. Even quoting someone else's harmless post can earn you time. Funny enough I have that problem only in technology section. |
ojeysky:Okay. Thanks. Is it strictly AC or AC/DC? Are you able to measure the exact consumption using a measuring device, you can help by indicating the exact consumption or at least the rating printed on its label. |
earthrealm:Got this 12v DC ceiling fan from AE, 10 inches blade I think. Cost around 4 thousand naira. No remote. It blows well too and I think it consumes around 8watts at 12volts. It's just to observe how long it lasts, cos it's cheap o.
|
If you or someone you know is interested in sliding gate opener, please quote me. It's AC powered, 180watts, 500-700kg working torque, used for 1 year and still working perfectly fine. It's for a good and attractive price. |
Topmost11:Oh, I can see you already working on the male-female DC plug. Yeah, the short leg that connects to the central hole of the plug is positive and that goes with the red wire. Soldering job will ensure good contact and prevent short circuit which may occur in that plug housing. But if you can't get it soldered, then twist your wires tightly and use insulator tape (commonly called black tape in 9ja rewire parlance) as a wrap-around either the positive or negative pins before you screw back the housing. You should get a USB powered soldering iron for small jobs like this. |
Topmost11:You could try out continuity of the rotor coil. If it's okay, then the circuitry may be the fault and the IC you suspected may be the culprit. If you are patient enough for 4 weeks transit, you can always get replacement ICs ordered on AE. That's what I do but patience is the key. Note the numbers written on the IC and type it in searchbox on AE website or phone app. Next time in order to prevent re-occurences like this or even the risk of fire from short circuit, get a female and male 5.5mm x 2.5mm DC plugs and wire them appropriately to the fan and the battery terminals for easy plug and play. Even I myself with fairly good DIY prowess, except I take extra precaution, effort and double check, I occasionally make mistake with connecting wrong polarities (it can be really annoying and I don't know why but I guess it's cause of this colour blindness thingy). How much more your son who is still learning to walk his dad's path of DIY. |
Topmost11:Bro, except you're using Lithium chemistry batteries, 7ah lead acid batteries will not serve you overnight with all these rechargeable fans dem. 4ah 12v cane with one QASA rechargeable like that and the battery works for only 4hrs after full charge, gave up the ghost on the 3rd month of use. I changed to it an external 7ah 12v thinking I'll get super long working time but battery also died on the 4th month. Changed things to Lithium 12v 5ah (2,200mah in 3s2p config) and I've had peace ever since. |
ojeysky:What capacity of LFP did he build for you? At what price? How clean is his job? And can you kindly put up the picture of his build here? |

Okay. I found it on Jumia, even added it to cart. But sha it isn't indicated if it's DC or AC. Also the consumption is not written on the spec sheet. But since you've ordered, please do carry is along on your experience. |
ojeysky:Please can you post his contact again. Thanks. Edited: Seen your earlier post on the contact details. |
0m0nnakoda:Because part of the stations is the Fulani Radio station that his government said it was gonna establish. |
ojeysky:Link for the QASA wall fan, please |
Is it developer as in developer or developer as in "Developer"? "Developer" Caught Damaging 3rd Mainland Bridge in "Accommodator" state |
Topmost11:Maybe 80 watts panel, but not 100 watts panel. The QASA DC fan I use, though non-rechargeable, says 80 watts panel can be tolerated directly into the DC in port of the fan. I assume the charge controllers in those ones with batteries is not likely to tolerate anything above 60watts. If you want to go higher, then you may need an external CC and the big battery that you wanna use to power the fan. |
idsolar:He started with very competitive prices that is hard to ignore. Glad that he also adds the feather of good customer relations to his cap. Just keep improving on packages that will draw more patronage to you and you can be sure of the unflinching supports guys on this thread will give to you thru direct purchases and references. I discussed with wifey that I found a new guy (justcallmenuel) that the moment I am around, I'll likely shift purchases to him in place of online market (konga and Jumia dem) that I'd hitherto used. She was like, "Ha! But you will have to send money to someone you don't know before goods are delivered nau" .Well what choice do I have. I'll give a trial. |
durodee:Great observation. Looks like Tourette's. |
mctfopt:The news awash with complain of heat waves across the country. |
truthbetold22:Eeya. It's so sad. Funny enough you could turn out to be one of my residents, that's how small the world could be. After all NL is a world of anonymity. But you've been a great disappointment to the medical profession with your depositions. Except those that may have been patient enough to decipher thru some of my subtleties on NL, not many will ever think that I have attained the highest level in the medical profession (on the clinical side of course). Yet I never tried to brag about it nor rub it in the faces of anyone. Truly, as Barezzi opined, people in the west mostly mind their business. Such outlooks about life also come from experience and exposure, two vital things that is apparently lacking in your make up. If you truly are a doc as earlier alleged, then I honestly think you need to do a deep introspect to know if medicine was really your calling. |
solasola:Tell me something. So the guy na medico? But I'm dead sure Medicos are usually above average and if any medico chooses to be this caustic by virtue of personal attitude (rather than that instituted by their professional training), then it usually is not this terrible. This one fall hand gan o. Hmmm. Na wa o. |

.. This isn't the 1st site we're experiencing this as most don't really know plasma tv are energy guzzlers .. We see some clients who don't believe in just changing a working electronic and that's partly a major challenge we do face sometimes in renewable energy quotes & installation. Later some will say 2 battery system didn't last long with just TV on .. It's well !!
