Whatever high cost we might end up paying, i'll prefer to do it and get stable supply, instead of paying and getting nothing! And still end up running generator every day.

All Current Electricity workers that are opposed to this idea should be sent to the black hole to continue their wretched existence there cool

Nnaa men,
We're drawing up training plans for next year and me i've made up my mind that am gonna be getting international training slots. I've arranged all the available ones and submitted.
That'll basically form my 31st night prayers grin  grin

Am tired of Kimberly Ryan/ Phillips consulting/I-skills/Tom Associates/Mitch consulting bunch cool
It's time to step up to the plate, see what's happening on the world stage.

@Neto,
If you are coming to Lasgidi, i advice you first of all get a high sounding alarm clock  grin cos you'll need a whole lotta wake up time adjustment  grin

@Op,
If i jam you in that office, honestly i will give you a dirty slap huh  huh
What do you mean, you left your wife and mother inlaw to take over your home and then went in hiding huh

Go back home and send your MIL to her husband's home while you trash issues out with your wife. Or did you marry both?

The only period your MIL should stay with you, assuming she is healthy is when you have a new born, and her stay must not exceed three months.

WOW i won't doubt that amount because i've in that situation before and i paid 30k but i wouldn't know if the money actually gets to the Lagos State Government account because all this LASTMA officials are thieves.
If you settled on the road without receipt, the officer don hammer. if you went to their office and paid with a receipt delivered, it's in the account.

hollars:
good to know, i pray i dont get in their trap, i usually have to slow down to let at least 3 cars pass me and go in front before i drive into any unknown street anywhere. im never in a rush to drive through any street. i usually ask any trader around to know if its a one-way road.

You ain't seen nothing, man. Take an example of the University road i mentioned ealier, the road from the point of entry is a dual way road, very spacious at that. Then towards the end of that same road, it becomes one way  shocked  shocked  shocked
It's just like entering your street, which takes two way movement, then three-quaters way in, it becomes one way. And there is no bold sign to warn you, just craftly designed for money making!
And the officers too are all hidden, Police will be seated in the nearby Kiosk from where they will jump on you, then they will hand you over to the plain clothes LASTMA crooks waiting in the flanks.

U r still talking of N10k. I av paid N25k twice for driving on roads dat r one way. This is even though the roads r not clearly marked one way. This is apart from from all d oda 5k, etc dat I av p-d over time.
Oh my, you actually top the chart  grin

The craziest areas seem to be those Yaba/Ebute Meta axis.
Was driving into UNILAG one of the days, just entered the University road from MMway, saw the newly tarred road and i tapped my feet on gas, cruising merrily past the cemetry, just within a few poles to the UNILAG gate, one of the men in black just jumped on me and i was like, is this one on a date with death huh  huh
Anyways, fully convinced that my 'papers' are always in order, i just confidently wound down, ready to lecture the guy on the value of his own life, only for the dude to tell me that i was driving on a one way road huh, I mean it was a straight road, just about the last one-fifth length of it  shocked  shocked

It was unbelievable, i looked back, looked front, the staight road is wide enough for trailers, how on earth can this road be a 'one way'?  shocked  shocked
The guy promptly pointed to one miniature obscure sign behind, showing where i was supposed to branch off, do a cross country before reappearing in front of UNILAG.
Well the guy entered my car ooo, and as they say, the rest is history grin
I will narrate another one later

Dude, you better get your arse down and serve your fatherland  grin

I earned five thousand naira (5,000) not quite long ago in the North, some folks in the govt schools/ ministry were earning 2k, serving the fatherland with pride cool  cool

Its not about what you get paid, though you might get up to 40-80k in Lagos anyway, depending on the bank. Truth is that without that discharge certificate, nobody will touch your CV.
CareerRe: Torn Between Uniben And A Bank Job---please Advice by cecegorz(m): 12:53pm On Dec 21, 2010
Let's analyze your situation in order to open up all the options because at the end of the day, you will still be the one to make the call.

Your job in the bank as a contract staff probably could range from note counting to tellering to report generation etc., all of which are dead end routine jobs without pay rise or promotions!
Whatever you are earning now, you will think its big until you get married and start raising a family

You are a chattered accountant, which is great 'pali', but that has no value presently because you are not practicing.
The ACA will have more value when it is backed by a full degree which i believe you can still get on a part time basis, though with a longer time-frame.

Forget about being 23, there are some 30yr olds that are giving thanksgiving today for securing admission at all cool
You didn't mention the proximity of UNIBEN to the city where you work anyway, that can determine if you can combine both.

I will like you to see the big picture, the possibility of getting into a job where you are paid what is fairly commensurate with your work input, you have assured chances  of pay rise and promotions as you your performance ratings increase. All these can only be possible as a graduate employee cool  cool

Adverts are normally circulated within the camp, you can as well network with fellow corp members to get tips of test dates.
Ermmm, sorry your 2yrs experience can only add value after you have passed the written test, and are seated before the oral panel, some organizations even do aptitude tests for experienced hires grin

If you understand that virtually all the corp members want to 'serve' in the banks, you will understand why the need for the aptitude test.
CareerRe: Annoying Habits Of Co-workers by cecegorz(m): 12:07pm On Dec 21, 2010
I used to have a colleague in my previous department who even though he was higher than us in grade and earns well ahead of us, but he will always like to know how much your bonus is, how much your housing allowance is, your leave allowance,  ah ah, it was too irritating, he will even want to know how much balance you have in your savings  huh  huh
Honestly i felt like slapping him on one of those poke nosing missions.

Here, i am still studying them gradually, don't like to talk on people's opinion about others, which might be personal, you know?

AjanleKoko:
Anyways, I don't really have any colleague with annoying habits per se, but I generally detest 'senior management'. Always stuck-up, pretentious, cruel, and out of touch with the reality on ground.
Lol. The company politicians! How do you expect them to know the reality on ground when all their domestic staff are paid for by the company  grin

PLS DONT YAB ME, AS I SAID. I AM ALREADY AN EXPERIENCED WORKER IN THE UK BUT BECOS I WANT TO RELOCATE BACK TO 9JA NYSC IS A MUST SO I HAVE NO OPTION THAN TO DO IT, HENCE MY QUESTIONS. ANYBODY WITH INFO CAN DROP ME A MAIL IN MY BOX OR LEAVE IT ON HERE. #THANKS
Welcome home, boy. I hope your own axeman is not the type that carry a miniature pick axe in your trousers  grin  grin

Any way, there is one general way of doing Youth service in banks/big corporations in Naija. And that is by writing the aptitude tests they normaly conduct for Corp members, if you pass, you still get interviewed and that determines your fate.
But then, if you are well heeled, i know there might still be other ways wink  wink

@Neto,

You know quite well we ain't that naive when it comes to the job segmentation within the monolithic power player.
But honestly, we have come to that level where we don't care where the lag is coming from , all we know is that NUEE which comprises of all the divisions (i suppose) is breathing fire and brimstone against the power reform program.

You may want to defend some departments but i dare you that the status quo madness feeds all the unscrupulous benefactors across board.

Meanwhile @AJ, i strongly agree with Friedman.

Whether they agree is not the issue, the issue is that i am tired of this kind of existence and somebody is coming up with a workable plan to move us forward while someone else wants to be a clog in the wheel.

Honestly i wish i can send all of them back to their villages permanently, they have no business showing up at work in the first place.
I run on Generator at home every blessed night, spending roughly 10k monthly on petrol alone, thats 120k/annum! Add the maintenance cost of the Gen and the unquantifiable noisy environment from the neighbours too, and you get the picture.

So many negative minded individuals are selling their fears and septicisms for free here, but am not buying any.

How can people be asking kindergatten questions here as if lands have not been reclaimed from coastal areas all over the world before. These are being handled by professional project managers and the blue print has been designed, with all the requisite EIA done.

This is a welcome development that will open up employment and expand the city as well. Bring it on Fash and co.
Let's have our own 21st century city, you guys are not even considering the tourism revenues that will be generated from this venture.
