Boy oh boy! It wasn't funny o, awon boyz was cornered by a student Intern way back in school. I think it was around third year in school, had this tumor that came on my neck region and instead of the guy to do a biopsy on the growth, he ordered me for HIV screening. i just went to the lab and they took samples, then it used to take like a week to get result. being that handsome had always been an active player, it was natural to feel apprehensive. But finally i got the result and it was -ve. I rushed down to the clinic and that day the resident doctor was in, you need to see the pride with which i brandished my report, only for the MD to say that i didn't even need the test in the first place, given the nature of the ailment. Since then, i have done subsequently, when i got my first job and i know i can't be +ve. Even if the virus forces itself into my blood,it will die on the spot ![]() |
Well done Kengali, But believe me folks, inspite of what you read in text books and what the western media bandy about, President Nixon's action of the early 70's that took the dollar off gold standard was actually to allow the feds print more money as the need arises. The only major area i have issues with our clime is that while other sensible leaders will ensure that funds are maximised in productive ventures, ours' are frittered away into foreign bank accounts, leaving a gaping hole for the naira to have a free-fall. |
^^^^ Well taken. The question is still not yet answered. How is the money injected from printing different from the ones brought in from IMF and world bank as loans. If both has the same effect, as in triggering inflationary tendencies, why still go cap in hand. |
Thanks y'all the economics profs in the house. Basically i see all your explanations of the ills of printing money in one light, that is govt stashing GMG bags full of N1000 bills and mailing to every family in the country. Definitely every body knows that Zimbabwe will become a paradise compared to Nigeria at the end of it. I remember when Jimoh Ibrahim mooted this idea during the banking sector crises, he was laughed off as a no-brainer but that was what Sanusi did eventually to rescue the banks. Now, when a govt borrows billions of Naira as they are won't to, more funds too are injected into the economy. The question is, instead of more borrowing and becoming a perpetual lave to the creditors, why can't govt discretely mint funds and use it to revamp infrastructures that will trigger more productivity? Like building more and refurbishing refineries, power sector, rail lines and roads network expansion?? Profs, oya educate us |
Superstition + Ignorance Another beautiful soul rendered handicapped! Now tell me, between the poor girl and the dad, who is the real witch ![]() |
Well let's see action first because in the case of BlackBerry service they just responded to MTN's 3k/month. They obviously know that if they allow the market leader to be low on price by that margin, it's akin to going out of business completely. If they are trully spoiled for war, they should have dropped BIS to 2k or even 2.5k at least. Let them keep it coming, Etisalat and Glo should crash too, let the consumers get value for once! |
They should not honour that summon!!! Who do they think they are ![]() Can you imagine, it has been in the public domain for long that these men are part of the stunted growth of this econonomy by virtue of their stupendous allowances. Why did they not summon Obasanjo when he went public with the same info? They should cut down those allowances asap, it's the major thing that attracts them to kill and maim in other to get/remain on the seat. |
You need to see how these bunch of thieving honorables were ranting on the urgent need to summon both Sanusi and Aganga btw today and tomorrow, as if that's the most important Bill on thier table. If they had been tackling national issues with such ferrocity and unity of purpose, we would have gone really far as a nation. It's good people in govt continue to mount pressure on these crooks, even if they deny it to death, we all know they feed fat on our common wealth. Meanwhile, this Revenue and fiscal mobilization or whatever they call themselves should seriously be looked into on thier modu-operandi, they are their co- travellers that set this ostentatious packages for these crooks |
yodiyokun:My dear, this is home truth! Andrew Carnegie, one of the 19th century greatest industrialist, single handedly built well over a thousand public libraries all over America to equip the people with the knowledge to kick-start their lives, Ted Tunner just pledged 1 billion dollars to the UN to help fight hunger and disease in the developing countries, now these are people that built their businesses on their sweat, when you consider that even most of our so called rich men got rich on the govt purse, yet they can't squeeze out anything to give back, it's just disheartening ![]() Y'all heard T.Y. Danjuma, a retired civil servant, the other day telling us he's got millions of dollars that he doesn't know what to do with ![]() But personally, i don't want my kids to come up tommorrow and be wondering what i contributed, i have promised myself that my alma matter will feel my impact in no distant time. We all can start with what we have. |
Nah nah nah. My guy, higher degrees are not basically meant to teach you how to create jobs. they are structured to equip you with skill sets for managing an on -going concern. You surely don't need an MBA to start a business. By the time people spend such fortune on higher degrees, their mindset is cued up for the next big company to go and recoup 'investment' ![]() Check it out, MOST of these businesses you mentioned were started by individuals without even a first degree, not to talk of MBAs. What most people have failed to understand or acknowledge is that Nigerians are not lacking in Business start -ups, but there are a cocktail of issues militating against the growth and flourishing of these businesses. i will list some; 1.Lack of requisite business laws/policies that allows the growth of enterprise. Believe it or not, If your govt. can't protect your industries, either by commision or omission, you are SUNK. That's why right thinking heads of state normally visit other countries with a retinue of business men, helping them to secure global businesses that will ultimately impact positively on thier hme economy. I think PAN was well off when all govt MDAs were mandated to use the good old Peugeot, stimulating more productivity and man-power requirement, now they all prefer bullet proof jaguars . The local industries, becoming the worst for it, including all the spin-off industries that supplies the auto with smaller parts and services.2.'I have arrived mentality'- This is a terrible culture, we like to throw parties around, build big mansions in the village (probably not spent more than 30days in a whole year there), buy big cars and generally live large once the business makes some profit, insatead of reinvesting in the business and expand frontiers. 3.Family businesses that dies with the founder - We like creating 'and sons' and 'and bros' company Ltd, bringing in family relatives and friends without any single idea of business trends. Every body plays along until the founder dies, they share/loot the rest and dissapear. Look at the Abiola group and the rest That's why the likes of Dangote and Jimoh Ibrahim are setting better trends by taking their companies public, ensuring continuity even after their demise. |
^^^ You know what man? I have stopped joining that band wagon of opinion that while our educational system is merely primed to produce job seekers, the westerners curricular is primed for job/wealth creation. The truth is that when i look around me in this country, over 99% of the big industrialists/job creators are all schooled in Nigeria!!! The Jim Ovias, Elumelus and Dangotes of this country are all products of our well maligned ivory towers ( without absolving them of the need for massive improvement, though). Since the 1980s, there has been massive exodus of people to the UKs and the USAs to study, yet i have not seen them come back with the magic wand to come and start-up, and nurture a strong business, rather they still want to come back and look for a company that will make them a GM, so they will relax and be collecting free pension. Sadly, we are a nation lacking in the drive to leave a legacy for the next generation. Our penchant for luxury goods is definitely unmatched by any other group of people on the face of the earth, thus we hardly want to go through the period of self sacrifice that it takes to create something out of nothing. I think we all need to go back and assimilate Napoleon Hill's lesson on delayed gratification. But then, in this age of enjoy now, pay tommorrow, it's definitely a tough call ![]() |
yodiyokun:Yeah, i love a whole lotta dem Business/Life coaches, and i have a library full of their materials. The 8th Habit is massive. It talks about going from SURVIVAL to SUCCESS, and then to INFLUENCE. I still remember the 9 dot experiment in the book that stimulates your mind to think outta da box! |
Wetin lawyers dey do sef ![]() Lawyers are Liars ![]() |
Oya Fogman, announce the bonanza because i want to pick up some stuff this season. Besides do you do demo for customers? Like practically showing off various models and what they can deliver? |
Men, this could be really bad business for all the NL Cotonue hustlers as Inspired man and co will now be wiring all their aged autos straight to TINCAN. Anyways, the good side to it is that there won't be any more rip-off for customers who sometimes lose their entire fund trying to smuggle an 11yr old car from Cotonue. But then, did they consider the impact on the local auto industry that is just trying to rebuild, especially the entrance of INNOSON MOTORS ![]() |
Men, its that thing that makes the office thick at this time of the year!!! 13th Month ![]() End of year Parriezzz ![]() Things are already winding up. |
yodiyokun:Come on girl! Try and read that book by all means. I consult that 'manual' almost on a weekly basis since i read it the first time. Apart from the Bible, i think there are few other books in that class that covers every aspect of human living. |
I know since MTN crashed it, others must follow asap. I was at the MM2 departure hall 2weeks back and just breezed into the ZAIN shop to inquire on their plans to follow suit on the price slash, only for the staff to tell me that MTN was crashing price because their services was crappy. I laughed at the dude for his deluded excuse. When a market leader is crashing price you're still yarning bull ![]() Zain is my main line but for BIS, i had always been using MTN, maybe i'll give them a trial nxt month. |
Oxygenmayo:Don't be quick on your critcisms, man. Popular reality shows are copied all over the world as long as you pay for the rights. Nigerian Idols are still showing auditions and not the real deal yet, start talking when the studio house opens and its not up to scratch. gerona:Just grab your remote anyday from 7pm-10pm and be flicking every 5/10mins. Almost all major stations in Lagos are on board, albeit at differnet times. |
Whoa! These auditions are really giving me rich hearty laughter anytime. Apart from few that's really got talent, others will make you laugh so hard till tears will be rolling down your cheeks. Yesterday, one dude came in and said he came all the way from Benin, that he even got robbed on the way, judges felt so pity for the poor dude, now let's hear the voice that made you come all the way from Oba's kingdom. Dude opened up his mouth and it was like a grand father toad croaking ![]() One other old man of at least 4oyrs came in grinning from ear to ear, you watch with apt attention to hear another Teddy Pendergrass only for the dude to start singing nursery rhymes with a terrible off key notes ![]() All these young Nigerians should know that talent is inborn, if it's not there, you can't force it! |
semid4lyfe:Guy you are part of 'management' now, previously you were defending the home page topic. Its good to see how you are criticizing same now. Or you think this is not bringing in traffic again ![]() |
My work days are now basically trainings-meetings-trainings these days. Its all good, its all good. ![]() |
It must have been at the turn of the new millenium. I remeber the whole funny experience, meeeeeeeeen! A friend of mine just came back from school with a new PC he cloned and i had only seen computers from afar prior to then. He took time to teach me computer appreciation as it was called then, MS office suites, correl draw and pagemaker. And it was Win 98! ![]() Once armed with desktop skills, i went for the ultimate--Internet. The funny thing is that then in school, UNIZIK, you only go to Cafe to open a mail box or check your mail--and then, you cannot even touch the mouse not to talk of keyboard, the cafe has only one coumpter! The cost was so much that the you just pay and the operator will quickly rush through the process of mail set up, if it was mail checking, he will just read out the mails and bid you godspeed, becuase so many others are waiting on the cue. On holiday, i landed lagos and together with a friend, we went to night browsing @ Ojuelegba side at almost 1k, we spent almost the first one hour trying to figure out how to sign in to yahoomail box ![]() |
Hello Inspiro, please give me quotes for the following; 1. ECU for Highlander 2003, 3.0L V6 FI 24V. JTEGF21A330101341 2. Instrument panel kit for the same. |
^^^ Thanks a lot brov. More business to your elbows ![]() |
Well done Baba Kay. please help me upload report for this JTEGF21A330101341 |
This is huge for Emenalo and Nigeria. Dude surely got some kpali there! If he has the kind of Goodluck's luck, he might become Chelsea mgr in no distant time ![]() Please, let the younger ones learn from this guy, you can combine education with professional sports and secure a brighter future when the legs are tired. |
aniffy4eva:People have been advocating for these changes way before the birth of social media; Reuben Abalti, Ken saro wiwa, Olisa Agbakoba, Chima Ubani, Gani fawehinmi et al used only conventional media. Its not enough to be a cyber tiger, these men staked their freedom for their convictions. I see a funny thing youths do these days in the name of change advocacy that is laughable, hustlers starting up NGO's and seeking funding from local and foreign aids, only to disappear once there is enough money in the kitty.
2. I anticipate that there will be a high influx of skilled graduates in diaspora, in the near future,(it's already happening now tho') cos one way or the other, everyone is beginning to believe in Nigeria's future. We must understand that this group of people are likely to form part of the elite of this country in the next decade.Having said these, does it mean i am an unbeliever on the impact of professionals? Nay! Far from it. All i am saying is that we can continue to build up the attitudinal change, instituting best practices even in our daily lives, but for the real change to be made manifest in the polity, there must be an awakening too on the political front. It took an Obasanjo as a president to bring in world class finance team as ministers and special advisers (Professionals), unleash them with a free hand to exert their expertise and we saw what they achieved. If the president never allowed them to implement the best policy for the country, they would have gone the same way of Olu Falae, Chu Okongwu et al, seasoned professionals that IBB used to unleash economic venom on us in the 80s. |
Happy sala to our muslim sisters and brothers. Who's throwing a ram babeque bash for the officers, Jarus and co? |
oyb:I think reading and learning that masterpiece should be a part of every interview session I really love that Emotional Intelligence concept too. that's by the way.Anyways, i think our professionals attitude are no less selfish than that of our politicians. Every body is just in for the moneeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! Africans as a people generally are yet to think beyond parochial interests, maybe because its easier for people to go back to poverty with the same speed they climbed the corporate ladder once the tides turn; and i guess the tide turns more frquently in this part of the world. My opinion is that when politicians start rolling out firm policies that guarantee people meeting basic life needs on a prolonged term, the shackles will be off people's mind, and they can think of the society at large and how to pursue the greater good. No matter how professional your views and proposals are, a Minister (political appointee) that knows no jack about the field can turn your soundly articulated solutions upside down, just because implementation must come from his approval. It's really a vicious cycle. |
Been lazying around in the hotel since morning, nothing official for me today, (watched our girls whip up their camerounian pretenders real good) tomorrow i'll be unleashing a persuassive presentation to my waiting audience. ready to push them to action with my big grammar and all the effizy combined ![]() Location is Kano, peeps. flight was enjoyable (for the very 1st time), thanks to the ear plugs i finally got from an ENT doctor. (kudos too to IRS, their chips/eggs/kidney fingers with a pack of small juice is far better than the cold puff puff with a small plastic cup of juice that my beloved ARIK normally dispenses) Wallahi, Ajanlekoko, i was already dreading the flies as the plane was touching down . thankfully it wasn't that bad. though i was surprised an 'international airport' was almost empty, even the old Ikeja local is far busier than this. Was expecting a beehive of travellers activities at the terminal sha.@Beneli, Good to see you are getting more options opening up, wish you get the best for you and the family at the end of the day. |

It is human nature to think of selfish interests, but a system is supposed to coordinate these individual activities in such a way that would create value for the populace.
