happney65: So how much do you expect Nigeria to give him as a Doctor? Can Nigeria pay him 3M monthly when he isn't even a consultant. I don't even think consultants are as highly paid as that.
He earning 400K as a Doctor here is still fairly okay.
The work stress might be the issue because they are greatly understaffed and the equipments to work with which isn't okay but talking about pay. How do you expect Nigeria to be able to pay the same with the US.
How? When we dey talk at times make we dey reason well
Unfortunately, the Naira has been devalued so much that 400k cannot really do much. Everyone has the right to seek greener pastures. Doctors graduate every year here, they'll fill up the spaces in no time.
nairalanda1: The fault is that we do not pay the actual cost of generating and producing power. We pay a subsidised price. We also have people who are not paying for the power they use...rich and poor alike.
So, at the end, there isn't enough money to expand and fix power.
I AM NOT DEFENDING ANY USELESS GOVERNMENT. I am merely pointing out that the UK has power because they pay for the actual cost. We don't because we pay too low a cost for it...because we are a poor nation. Meanwhile, government failures to diversify the economy mean there is limited cash to make up the shortfall.
And here we are
As much as people hate to hear this from me...and yes, you are free to abuse me....I don't care any more....we can only have power if we pay the actual cost of power, not the subsidised cost.
Heck, Buhari even made matters worse by freezing prices for power between 2017-19. Meanwhile costs of gas, maintenance costs, etc went up. Tinubu is continuing in the same vein. How are companies going to make a profit to pay for improvements, like their UK counterparts.?
Then we're saying the same thing. It's better to pay "through the nose" and enjoy the amenities as you did while abroad. All that you wrote feels like you're giving excuses for our inefficiency. More efficient societies Will Always attract immigrants from shitholes...
Kay25: ..they pay tax out of their nose, their work rate is not the same as here before u earn that 10pounds an hour that 1 hour must be judiciously used here go to so many work places 3 hours some are still on phone calls not doing anything and u are comparing them to ours u cant eat what u dont work for
nairalanda1: Nigeria's problem is that most of what we pay for power , light and fuel is subsidised.
Result, the companies do not make much money and they provide bad service as a result.
Did I even mention the fact that 40 percent of Nigerians do not even pay for power?
UK on the other hand does not subsidised power, petrol or water. As a result, bills are high, but because you are paying the actual price you get your value for money .
Anytime it has been suggested Nigerians should pay market price for utilities and petrol we get the usual poverty answer
The govt failed since the 70's and earlier to provide the power and other infrastructure. If they had played their cards well and enforce laws in place, things would have been more efficient. It's not the citizens fault. Okay, even with the subsidised power, How efficient are the discos? We're not even generating enough MW in the first place. Whose fault is it?
Praktikals: Thats not a fair way to compare things. Also ask him how much he pays for rent and compare it to yours. His 1 year rent can be your own 50 years lol
We're comparing the man-hours work needed to attain that. A months salary there is enough to cover the bills at least. Higher skilled workers could get more savings.
AfahaAbia: All you ignorant folks here talking like you know what happens in the UK and USA. In the USA and UK foods is very cheap. Food there is nothing. Have you heard of food banks? They give food for free. I personally use to do dumpster diving in those days as a student (Google dumpster diving) come see fresh food na that people no longer need. My fridge was usually full with all kinds of foods... Light bill, water bill, etc that is the Koko. You go pay tire!!! It's only in Nigeria I see so much ignorance.
After paying for those amenities, were you not getting your money's worth? Did you pay estimated bills after getting darkness and buying fuel for a noisy Gen? Did you have to pump water yourself or draw water from well or another compound.? Do you need to know a police commissioner before the cops would respond to your distress call?
tollyboy5: Lol 2027 is kind of far. So this stuff really take alot of time to construct. Red line to begin second quarter of next year, ok lets just say b4 2024 ends redline should start operation. I think the best thing Lagos need to do in the nearest future is kick start multiple rail project at a go. So person go fit enjoy easy movement around the state, its possible if the state IGR is triple of what we have now.
This is what should have been done All over Nigeria in the 70's . Black leaders got no foresight
All the canned malts, beer and others' you drink here are produced by GZI. Likewise All the coke, fanta sprite Glass bottles are produced by Frigoglass.
Shoodboi: I said it on the earlier post that they're about to claim it's Hamas and they didn't disappoint.
They're even claiming they're prisoners released by Israel when Israel only released 'prisoners' below 18.
300 prisoners below 18. Some have been in Israeli prisons since they were 12.
Why does Israel have so many Palestinian children in prisons?
What type of country imprisons children?
But then, it is better for a child to be in prison than to be shot in the head... like these two Palestinian children that Israeli soldiers assassinated in Jenin yesterday.
One was shot in the head. Israel shot a 9-year-old Palestinian boy in the head.
NOTE: Jenin is in the West Bank and not in Gaza. There is no Hamas there, yet they're being killed like rams. Yet Israel claims Hamas is the problem.
nedu666: You see why I said you are delusional. You said 10-20m is not a lot of money in Nigeria. I am telling you that if millions of Nigerians are making that amount where are they keeping their money because its definitely not in the bank. A country were sale of brand new cars is still in tens of thousands definitely does not show millions make 20 m a year
Tens of thousands?... Maybe you're talking of pre - 2015. Imported of cars via the seaport , both used and Brand New , are not up to 5,000 this year so far
Phantom233: It's not about how much you budget but what you actually do with the money. Even if we're given 500billion dollars yearly, our extremly corrupt and wicked Apc political rulers and Allies will reloot the monies without any tangible results
Corruption coupled with the peanut budget... it's A laughable situation.
Pepperdemisback: Cheapest at what price when Dollar is high? Somebody who got N2m gift will go and buy used phones? Nigerians are phone freaks and I don't know why?
Well, I assume she Just dedicated a percentage of the money for gifting loved ones.
Pepperdemisback: How much is that in Naira? You hardly see Nigerians with cheap phones. I know sales boys who use such phones but buy garri and pea everyday for lunch.
Most likely those are the cheapest phones available. Probably not even Brand New.
Pepperdemisback: Very stupid thing to do. No matter how wretched looking an average Nigerian looks, you will always see them with expensive phones. I don't know whatever they do with them than calls, browse, chat and snap pictures.
The phones are not expensive... Many Chinese android phones are less than $100... It's the exchange rate that's drawing us backwards .
FreeStuffsNG: So you actually believe that LUTH will lock five 150-bed wards, as in 750 beds? How many bed-capacity is the whole LUTH itself when you can ignorantly believe that 750 beds are unoccupied and locked? Smh.
With your kind of negativity and ignorance which you think is cool, many of you will never be blessed by this land. All you do is give negative mindset and the land will reflect it back to you.
It wasn't stated that each Ward has 150 beds. There are a total of 150 beds in the five wards.
The financial times UK should also tell us about the hardship being faced by UK citizens! Oh! They feel we don't know that inflation is biting harder than never before, and a housing crisis fvckin their country from the butthole?
Anyways, His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) is aware about the statistics and making frantic efforts to steer the economy on a growth path. Nigerians do not need a foreign entity battling with its own problems, to notify us.
Inflation of 4.6 percent compared to ours?. If they didn't report it, how would we have known?
