The average income for a British family with two adults working is £40,000 a year.
£4200 a month is about £50,000 per year. That's plenty to me by UK standards...
someone correct me if i'm wrong.

FamilyRe: Why Are Women Their Own Worst Enemies? by cfours: 11:44pm On May 21, 2012
this topic is stupid. women do not dislike each other any more than men dislike each other.

women just tend to be more expressive with their emotions. while men, on the other hand, tend to be more apathetic (which to me is worse!).Women are the more social than men for this reason. how would this be possible if all we did was claw at each other?

@OP, I think you are just projecting your own behavior towards other women.Maybe you need to look into the mirror.
I think it is the men that are gold diggers. imagine 25 yr old guys marrying wrinkled 70yr old oyinbo women without shame.

CultureRe: Jamb Question - What Is "Eku Ijoko" In English ? (winner Gets Recharge Card) by cfours: 10:23pm On May 19, 2012
paris10: @poster and all. The poster said you don't have to translate the meaning literally, meaning you don't have to include seat or welldone to the meaning.

My answer: Hope you guys are Ok, I acknowledge your presence.

"Eku Ijoko" is a two words sentence in Yoruba, but in English it's a nine (9) words sentence.

Pls note: The sentence " Se ewa ok" is not a full Yoruba sentence or words as it contain the English word "ok" and cannot therefore be used to replace the English words "Hope you're ok".
best answer!!

ayanle456: without the horn...beuty would go down by 70 percent....without ethiopia and somalia...the rest of africa has european languages as the national language of all the african states...without somalia and ethiopia africa is just a bunch of nappy headed, wide nosed, big lips, short, mascularly overdeveloped apes....funny how when you guys talk about the beuty and diversity of africa...all your talking about is the horn...lol
what a fool.
at least we west africans, central and south africans look authentically African in our own right. instead of looking like ugly version of arabians
we certainly wouldn't want second-rate arabians populating the African continent.
CultureRe: Jamb Question - What Is "Eku Ijoko" In English ? (winner Gets Recharge Card) by cfours:
there is no English translation for it.
English speaking people don't greet each other for sitting down (eku ijoko)or working (eku ise) or resting (eku isimi) or enjoying (eku igbadun) or success (eku orire) or shitting (eku iyagbe). They only have greeting for time of the day: good morning (eku aro/ ekaro), good afternoon (eku asan /ekasan) and good evening (eku ale /ekale).

for those pitying the husband, for all we know, he may be having a dandy time thinking he's in a lovely marriage and absolutely oblivious of his wife's secret pain.

@OP, I will say to you that in the latest literary novel I read with a plot very similar to your story, the woman in question commits suicide in the end. I truly hope that your story ending is the opposite of that.
FamilyRe: I Am Staying by cfours: 3:41am On May 19, 2012
I don't think you read her post well. She just isn't romantically 'in love' with her husband. I'm sure she loves him as a friend/brother. remember she emphasized "se.x" a lot. I personally love my brother and platonic male friends but def. will feel disgusted to think about sex with them.

my guess is that her husband cheated on her or betrayed her. that can kill romantic love pretty quick. and I'm sure a lot of men feel the same when they catch their wives cheating. the 'love' disappears.

I would love to know her age because it really is very common that romantic love gradually disappears among middle aged and older couples/ or after child bearing. many just live like housemates or siblings. there is no romance in it. but I can imagine a younger woman will be bitter about living in that kind of marriage when she's still in her prime. or bitter about not having experienced romantic love in her marriage at all.

I'm surprised that the World Bank is investing in it.

whatever works but let us be careful sha. The continuous success of Lagos depends on a responsible government and i'm worried that Fashola's successor may not live up to the standard.

PoliticsRE: Ojukwu Would Have Ruled Nigeria by cfours(op): 3:56am On May 09, 2012
Why are some Igbos incensed at Gowon's remarks. Isn't it clearly obvious that Ojukwu was power hungry and wanted to rule the entire country? If he only wanted to secede igboland, then why was he trying to capture Lagos and Ore? since when did yorubaland become part of Biafra? His greediness got the best of him, I say.

Even his former media aide and confidant, Uche Ezechukwu, have come forward to admit that Ojukwu "wanted to rule Nigeria and not just iboland." The following excerpt is from an article on his forthcoming biography of Ojukwu:

Many people, including some Igbos, only saw the late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, from a distance, without knowing much about him...

... the splitting of the country into twelve states on May 30th 1967, came faster than expected, and as such, “Gowon had done a coup on us...” So the Eastern Regional Governor promptly declared Biafra Republic. The race to capture Lagos in a surprise attack was led by Colonel Victor Banjo who was so close to the leader of the new nation that he lived in the same house with him. Ikemba said the intention was to push out Gowon and take over the leadership of the country. But Banjo stopped in Ore in the Midwest with the excuse that he wanted to reconnoiter the environment. Meanwhile, he allowed Chief Obafemi Awolowo to persuade him not to bring war to his fatherland, meaning Yorubaland, and that was why Ikemba had Banjo executed. It was after the Biafran troops were pushed back from the Midwest into Onitsha that

let's not forget that Ojukwu came back from exile and ran unsuccesfully for Nigerian presidency twice (in 2003 and 2007)! His dream to rule Nigeria died with him in his grave.
FoodRe: Peak Milk New TV Commercials by cfours: 3:31am On May 09, 2012
What challenges are you facing from the local economy?

Well, the major challenge is the purchasing power of Nigerians. The figures published by the Lagos Business School show that year-on-year food inflation is between 25 per cent and 30 per cent and that makes food more expensive for Nigerian consumers. If you factor in the effect of the reduction of fuel subsidy, the spending power of Nigerian consumers is less than 10 per cent. So, when you look at the balance year after year, a Nigerian consumer has 35 per cent less spending power on food. Now two-thirds of the population ratio leaves on less than $1 per day so, if you have only N200 to spend a day on food then you have to be critical; you have to select. So, we have to motivate Nigerian consumers more so that they give milk a higher priority. Milk is the food with the highest nutrient density and so if you have less money to spend, buy milk because then you have the highest nutrient density. Therefore, we launched just a few weeks ago the ‘Drink More Milk’ campaign, which motivates Nigerian consumers to drink more milk everyday because its very good for their nutrition.

grin keep drinking milk everyday to make Mr. Steetscamp and his Dutch company richer.

stupid topic.
yoruba people as a collective do not have a single leader. tinubu is just a former governor of lagos. who cares about him.
I care more for Fashola at this moment, as a lagosian.

but yea we are generally more socially organized. while ibos are more independent minded.
