Good day Nairalanders, I have been married for just a year now and it has not been easy here! My Husband wants to know every thing about my finance. He has disturbed me to know how much is my salary worth of.

I have always denied him of the fact, what I know is that I used my money to refurbish our flat, got some new things to change the outlook of the place....

But I am not really finding it funny any longer. As we speak, he collected my ATM card since last two weeks, said I must tell him the pin or I should forget having it back. I went to my bank, told them that I lost the card and they changed it for me last Friday and he collected it again said it's either I tell him the pin or he will do something funny ...

I don't know what funny thing he's gonna do but I am worried! Pls is this how marriage is?
He claims to own me and own my salary! Is it fair? This marriage is too early instead I would have quit and I am pregnant at the moment!
What do I do? I don't want anybody to know anything about my finances including him till I have my baby whom my spirit accepted that I should make my next of kin.

wasn’t angry when I broke the card. I just wanted to make sure that:
i. I will not be able to use the card or account anymore.
ii. I will be forced to open a new regular bank account.
The Story (in brief)
I suffered a failed POS transaction yesterday.
I sent Wema ALAT a mail and they are yet to reply as of now (almost 24 hours later).
I called them this morning and listened to a recorded message about how my call may be delayed because of COVID-19. I quickly cut the call. Their customer wasn’t effective before the virus came along, so I wonder what to expect now.
I later visited their bank and the customer care rep told me the transaction will be reversed within 14 days, if they were sure that I was really unable to withdraw the money.
14 days? Why is this so?
The money doesn’t even belong to me and the owner is very angry with me right now. Someone sent it to her and she wanted to use someone else's account to receive it, but I convinced her to use me—and then this happened.
Worse, she needs it for feeding and I don't have any money to give her. (She wasn’t paying me for the service in case you’re wondering.)
I suffered the same thing in the hands of GTB. (Their regular customer service email complaints@gtbank.com isn't even working anymore.)
In fact, I opened a WEMA Alat account because of GTB’s failures. I thought Alat will be better since they marketed themselves as a “Digital Bank”, but it appears that I was wrong. They are “digital” in name only.
This should be the third or fourth time WEMA Alat is doing this sort of nonsense to me. And that is without counting the failed mobile and POS transfers.
I am actually not concerned about GTB’s and Wema’s failures. I just hate their terrible customer service.
Failed transactions are one thing. I actually consider them normal. However, poor customer service and unwillingness to quickly solve failed online transactions aren’t. And this is unfortunately common with most banks and businesses in this country.
Now, I’ve have made the decision to stop going cashless. I will start moving around with cash henceforth. I’m sick and tired of all these failed POS transactions and sluggish customer service r
I know I will still do some online transactions but that will be occasionally (online shopping, international payments, etc.)
That said, I want you all to answer these two questions:
1. Which bank is reliable for online transactions?
2. Which bank has the most effective customer care service in this country?
I’m thinking of opening a Union bank account since I can see they have revamped their business, but I don't want to jump into conclusions as I did with Alat.
Could you all help me out?
P.S. Please UBA and Skye (if this one still exists) are out of the equation. I used them in the past and can confidently say they are terrible. They steal money.
I don’t want Access bank too. I’ve never read anything good about them. They and fraud are relatives. I don’t want Diamond bank either since they are the new owners of Access bank.
So, any suggestions?

Arrive safely to his house it was around 7 in the evening , I knocked and a man came a security guy , I introduced myself but the guy refuse to allow me to go inside. He locked me out, i taught maybe I was in the wrong house but when I took my diary to check the address again and it was correct , I just don’t know why he refuse to allow me inside , I don’t know if it was his wife who told him not to , I was confuse , I was tired , hungry my last meal was 2 in the afternoon and desperately needed to use toilet my head was spinning and hurting me bad . My phone was dead low battery and I couldn’t call my uncle to inform him of what was happening , I was in tears because I didn’t know what else to do , in a big city like Abuja and the only people I knows abandon me. Because it was dark and people were not passing around , i desperately needed toilet I had to pee outside there compound and I sat there with my luggage for almost long time then the guy came again and opened the door and ask me to follow him. He took me inside the house where my uncle’s wife and another wife I didn’t know who she was were watching tv , I greeted them and his wife said why I can’t I phone her to let her know that I was outside , I explained that my battery was dead but she wasn’t interested , she then asked her maid to show me the room and the bathroom so I could have my bath. I was very angry my entire body was shaking , I wanted to ask her if I could eat first but I was shy to ask and I went and had my bath and all I could think of was foods. I taught after my bath I will go downstairs and my food will be ready of which I went downstairs to eat and my uncle was also back , I greeted him then he went to have his bath while the maid was preparing food for me , I taught it was for both of us but I was wrong, few mins later his wife told me to go sleep because I had a long tiring day I should rest. I obeyed but deep in me I was like how could this woman be this wicked , first of al she locked me outside for 2 hours and again she deprived me of food , i was in tears again I am a boy but I very emotional, I cry anytime I am pained . I went to bed angry something I never did before even taught my parents are not rich but we never sleep angry. I cried a lot that night I soaked my pillow with tears and I just couldn’t wait for sun to come so I could eat. In the morning I woke up very early but I had to wait for my cousins to wake so we could all eat together and we had a great breakfast together with both parents but what I noticed for one week I had spend with them is his wife only treated me well when my uncle was around and when is not around is hell. She wouldn’t let me eat in the same table with her kids or touched her children PlayStation games , she will keep my cousins away from me , I will be all alone but I have never told my uncle anything because I don’t want to cause problems. Till now I have also never had told my parents about what his wife did to me. My mum is a no nonsense woman if I told her she would have go all the way to Abuja to fight her so I decided to keep it to myself. The issue on ground is my mum want my 14 years old little sister to go and live with my uncle so my uncle could train her but I don’t like the idea because his wife will abuse her the same way she did with me , mine was only for a week it was hell and what about my sister who will be with them for years , I am scared that She will die of anger and I will not see her again but I don’t know how to tell my mum not to send her because if I said what happened to me there , it will cause a lot of trouble because my mum will revenge . I just don’t know what to tell her or should I let her go and wait for her to speak for herself when she will start abusing her. What should I do please

This is my first ever snake thread on nairaland, so I don't really know what section of the forum to post it.

I guess its a crime for snakes to bite humans and we killed it in self defense, even if it took 7days to do so.

7days ago a neighbor got bitten by a snake, while chilling out on some set of blocks just outside the compound, he was just trying to stand up from where he has being sitting on for at least 15 minutes, when the fiery little snake strikes his hand.

He was rushed to his village immediately where some herbs were rubbed on his hands(the place of the injury) , and little palm fronds tired to his hand, I must say he recovered quickly, I don't know how poisonous this particular snake is, but his hand was pretty swollen.

As the superstition have it in their village, when a member of their village gets bitten by a snake, and they take those herbs.


In 7days if the snake is still alive it will come back to the victim's house or the place of incident and thereafter it will be killed, I don't know how true it is but the snake right here in this picture was killed in our staircase just 2 foot to the said neighbor's apartment this morning . Yesterday made it the 7th day he was bitten by the snake, he was not around to identify if this was truly the snake that bite him.

Anyway there you go. The fiery little snake. Gosh I hate snakes

Good morning all.

I had to create another account because I know that if people check my past posts and topics, they wouldn't believe such an educated individual could get scammed.

Here's the succinct narrative:

A former client from Delta sent me money to help him get an iPhone here in Lagos. He sent me the money because he's not new to me.

Usually, I have people I buy phone's from. I just contact them on whatsapp. I don't go to computer village again since I could fall into the wrong hands.

Most of the products from my trusted sources came with far exorbitant prices. But just that morning, I saw Instagram suggesting that I follow a page (which I have the screenshot). I diligently scrolled through and saw that they have been operating since July 2019. And I saw people's comments and video of people buying at their store.

So I contacted the number. He told me they have 2 branches. Agungi and Shagamu. He gave it at a lesser price compared to others. In fact, he sent me their price list, and everything was professional. I even asked for their CAC certificate and he sent it. When I saw the price of another phone, I told a lady about it and she also was interested.

Now I told him I wouldn't pay till I see the product. That I would go to their store on the Island because I stay on the mainland. He then said it's only available at Sagamu and it would take me over 2 hours to get there. I said I was going to go there. He then said I could pay half and he would deliver the product to the man. I insisted on going. Unluckily, the man sent another message that hour that I should do everything possible for him to get the phone the next day. No delays. I knew it would never work if I set out around 3pm for Sagamu.

So I sent the money. The other lady said she's even at a friend's place not too far from Sagamu. I asked her to go to the store. She refused. So I knew I just had to send the money. Later she said she'll go. On getting there, the owner of the store said her phone was stolen a few days back and that they have been using her IG to scam people. At first, I wanted to exert my anger on an individual who behaved with such negligence. But I chose to focus on this guy.

He doesn't pick calls anymore. He'll read my message online with no replies.

I ran to both banks. Mine and his to report before they closed but I could see from their body language as though it's a lost course. I called customer care. Went on their social handles as well.

Now, last night someone contacted me that he saw that I was following that account. That he was scammed 6days ago from the same account. I have screenshota from that person as well. He sent him the same bank details. The same phone number and whatsapp number.

I know i would get insulted for posting this. I insult people too when they act dumb. I never knew someone like me could ever get scammed.

Please, what can I do. The amount is over 100k.
The man contacted me this morning. I don't know what to tell him.

Please advise me...
