Mama relax your mind, let me share an experience with you, my cousin had her baby march this year at ikorodu general, that is where i use too, she had a vigaina birth and so was discharged the next day, after the 3rd or 4th day my mum told me they called her that the baby is doing somehow, meanwhile mum came first to look after the baby, cos my aunt the grandmother had to put finishing touches to her business before she can travel down to Lagos. My mum noticed the baby was crying too much, even after been feed and as the new mum doesn't even have time to sleep, they introduced glucose water to the baby, which kept her quite for a while before crying starts again, with the hope that very soon the baby will get used to being out of the womb, this was done until my mum was ready to travel back about the 4th day after birth. Surprisingly my mum called me that my aunt called to tell her the baby is rejecting breast and the baby is twisting her neck to one side and rolling up her eyes, both the new mum and grand mum were scared and rush the baby to a private clinic in their area, the clinic asked them to go to where they gave birth to the baby, by that time I had called them to go to the general hospital and that I will meet them there (my own morning/ evening sickness had started dealing with that time, but upon hearing about the baby all my symptoms vanished). The dr. that saw us at the GH said the umbilical cord is septic but the major thing is the baby has jaundice, and needs phototherapy, but there is no bed space, so we were referred to Lasuth, we thought of going from Ikorodu to Ikeja at that time of the day, inside traffic and we wondered what will happen to the baby on the way, we informed some friends and they started making calls and finally we got an hospital nearby that has the phototherapy light, the baby was admitted, drawing blood for test was an issue as the baby kept crying, the doctor asked the mother to breast feed, and lectured on how to go about it thinking it's just a new mother thing, the baby will try and latch on, but it's cry afterwards, the dr. ordered baby food and the baby eat and slept for hours, that is when we discovered that the mum wasn't lactating at all, so invariably the baby has not eaten since she was born. She had been hungry, so each time she wakes, she was taken from the light and feed, she will just sleep off. They were discharged after 5 days, the new mum was given herbs to drink and bathe with and that is how she started lactating, after than can of baby milk they never bought another, and the baby now looks healthy and chubby. So the point of the story is if the baby is not getting enough food, they can develop jaundice as their immune system needs food to fight it, so mama kindly get your baby an alternative milk source, until you start lactating well, it doesn't mean you failed as mum and you can still do EBF afterwards. Thanks mama, I really appreciate your response. As per your toothache, I had similar issues when I was 37wks gone with my first baby, the pain was coming from an impact last molar, in fact I didn't sleep for 3 days straight, I was referred to a dental clinic by my hmo hospital, but I instead choose to go to GH where I do ANC, I didn't even complain about the tooth, cos it's not my clinic day and they will just tell me to go to dental Dept. I finally saw a doc, who discovered my BP was high 190/170, I was admitted straight away and monitoring started, at had eclampsia, passed out during induction and they had to do emergency cs, didn't wake up to see my baby till the nxt day, BP still refused to crash 1wk post delivery, and finally nursed the cs wounds for 9 good months. And the toothache? I have not heard from the tooth since I was admitted that year. I couldn't drop my bs on this forum since then cos of all I had to go through. I thank God in all, now am back for second journey after 3 yrs. |
cheeketo, lagra, Shemmyglo, mayornmn and other teamNovember abeg come out oooo
Did I hear u say kpekus? Since Dh score this second goal I no near the thing again, it's so irritating, with all this morning sickness abeg, when I well I will ask for it, bobo self understand, he no even ask. Morning sickness is gradually improving I must confess, although I have been using a quarter tab of avomine every afternoon as my vomiting usually come in the evening/ night, but I no longer feel nauseous, but I still feel a measure of discomfort sha, and this occassional menstral like cramp, I know am not 100%. I have been hungry every 2hrs throughout this trimester, failure to eat food not snacks o, will result in vomit, headache, bloating, heartburn and mention any other thing that can ever go wrong, so I have been useless, can't even go to shop, thank God for lockdown everyone would have known by now that I am pregnant, cos I must not be far from food o, and I don't want to buy from food vendors, and even when I see the food nko, no appetite for it, will just force myself to eat, so I won't die of my symptoms. But since Friday or so, I noticed that the constant hunger pangs has reduced now I can stay like 4hrs btw meals and heaven will not fall. House chores is still on hold, I send my daughter on little erands in the house sha, she can arrange and trash dirts, and can help bring my vomiting bowl and say alot of sorry, lol, she was 3yrs in January, Dh helps in bathing her and cleaning the house, my younger brother takes care of cooking, covid-19 has made him loose his job, so all of us full house, although it might not be sweet we go manage am, I don dey enter kitchen since last week sha, as my energy level increased. Scan says we will be 13wks on Wednesday, can't wait to start feeling movements o, so I will know baby is fine. No body answered my question on malaria and typhoid treatment I had early on, if it can affect my baby. |
BS Hearty congratulations mama, you have really gone through a lot, pls take loads of rest, God be with a little angel. |
mayornmn:Yay! Another team member, welcome mama, happy bumping |
Shemmyglo:another mama is here, welcome |
lagra:Just 3 of us for now, ToyosiR, cheeketo and lagra, happy bumping to us all |
... About not answering your questions no vex. Sometimes to type is a problem for most of us.... Personally I see some questions but because I don't have that experience, I don't have an answer or because the pregnancy is making me lazy... I will just read and answer in my head. Please don't feel that way, you are part of the family and we love you.... No vex
