Christianity EtcRe: Atheism By Definition Is Problematic by chemystery: 2:16pm On Oct 03, 2017

I am talking of dogma here.... You are telling me about political stuffs....what my op did was to divide the set of dogmatisms of atheism
There is no dogmatism in atheism. Everyone with their own perspective about life.

It is like saying Christians who engage in abortion are subscribing the dogmatic part of Christianity that supports abortion when actually there is none. You don't hence use the way of life of those individuals to categorize christianity or create a new Christian sect. Like Abortionic Christians

those types of atheist fall into moral atheism....those who reject God because of their former faith doctrine and religious perspective..
You mean like the types that supports APC?
Better list all the types before we continue this journey
Christianity EtcRe: Atheism By Definition Is Problematic by chemystery: 1:58pm On Oct 03, 2017
You are wrong. There are over a million types of atheist....

Those that were once Christians, those that were once Muslims, those that were atheists from birth, those that don't engage in arguments, those that are introverts, those that are extroverts, those that supports APC, those that supports PDP, those that are Chelsea fans, those that are Liverpool fans, those that are tribalistic, those that aren't, those that divorce their wives and those that doesn't...

So continue from there.

After listing all the types, then I can come in and comment

Christianity EtcRe: A Challenge To All Astral Projectors!! by chemystery: 9:24am On Oct 02, 2017
There is no difference between astral projection and self hypnosis!

They both work per autosuggestion. In fact, there was an app I downloaded from play store to learn that trash - Astral Projection Secrets.

There was a place into that app that mentioned that anything you imagine in the astral plane comes to reality. Meaning if you imagine a lion, a lion appears immediately. Hence the need to keep a positive mindset before you astral project. Did I forget that part that mentioned that sex in the astral plane is more mindblowing? Kikikikikikiki, abeg I no fit laugh! grin

With all these absurdities, I still went ahead to try all the methods in the app just to confirm the nonsense called astral projection works. But at the end I endorse it with this befitting stamp!

Christianity EtcRe: Humanists And Freethinkers: What Are Your Thoughts On Abortion? by chemystery: 2:27pm On Oct 01, 2017
McSterling:
I'd like to know why you think abortion is morally wrong.
I think we should be cautious about limiting the frequency of abortion just to avoid the risk of taking what might likely be a human life since we don't know for sure if life begins at conception, or few days or few weeks after.
Christianity EtcRe: Humanists And Freethinkers: What Are Your Thoughts On Abortion? by chemystery: 9:18am On Oct 01, 2017
As an atheist, in as much as I disagree with the theist on the existence of god doesn't mean I disagree with them on anything else.

To me, abortion is morally wrong but morally equating it with murder and thus criminalizing it is where the biggest problem lies.

Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Morality. A Question! by chemystery: 1:31am On Oct 01, 2017
vaxx:
I just correct you ...morality is subjective.........
No it is not my recommendation...am asking you if it should replace it...if laws should replace moral?
Laws are there to enforce some vital aspects of morality. Meaning you just have to show some form of good morals whether you like it or not. Morality exists as part of our natural human instinct which was borrowed by both civil and religious laws for its purposes
Christianity EtcRe: Am Turning To An Atheist Slowly Help Me by chemystery: 1:13am On Oct 01, 2017
Really sorry about your ordeal.
I'm an atheists, but I will tell you, atheism is not the solution to whatever you are going through currently.

Just sit up, think of what you want and aiming at and go for it.

saudi Arabia and Switzerland are Nation and what make them a nations are the individual in them.... So the law is for the individual in the country....

You are right they it deal with laws...laws do not carry the spirit of emphaty.... It is not unlawful for me to stop my car to carry a pregnant woman in labour at the road side if I see one...I can just by passs and go....no police will arrest for not stopping.....

It is lawful for me if I am medical doctor to demand for my fee before attending to a terrible sick patient that come to my office before treatment....

Here nothing like good nor bad...am only following the laws .....
Lawfully right, morally wrong!

Therefore laws should replace good or bad concept....since it is only human device right?
Is this your recommendation?

Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Morality. A Question! by chemystery: 12:27am On Oct 01, 2017

this is also very subjective..... Swizerland consider prostitution legitimate profession simce it brings revenue to the national pulse of the coumtry ..despite the medical implications... Saudi Arabia consider it illegal despite the amount of cash it can raised to the pulse of the economy.... Have you seen its subjective? So to the questions what is good and bad in the light of common sense?
Is Switzerland or Saudi Arabia an individual? You can ask them what is good and bad in the light of common sense. But unfortunately, they have no business with good and bad; they only deal with things that are lawful and unlawful.

Now, you don't compare laws with individual morality. Even god's moral code itself is a law. That is why killing is generally bad but not when it involves government versus criminal nor when it involves god, his people versus their enemies!

As an atheist, my morality is rooted on empathy and my human instinct towards distinguishing benefit from harm. That is why I feel bad even when criminals are killed. This is the same reason I see Yahweh as a cruel bloodsucking nonentity
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Morality. A Question! by chemystery: 12:03am On Oct 01, 2017
butterflyl1on:
You cannot speak for an animal as your perception is all you have.

You cannot say an animal knows right from wrong when your idea of this right or wrong is solely from your human perspective.

That would be you imposing your own perspective on one who does not subscribe to it.

Animals have no morals because they simply do not care. Domesticated animals can borrow from our perspective because we teach them based on our idea of morality. Animals on their own do not have the capacity for right or wrong. All they know is their natural behavior.
And their natural behaviour such as that of humans can be categorised into normal or abnormal, right or wrong, good or bad, etc.

Who taught animals in the wild how to help fellow animals in distress?

Who also taught them how to express emotions?

Just as in humans, the moral variances amongst a particular animal group will be different from another, but they are undeniably there.
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Morality. A Question! by chemystery: 9:57pm On Sep 30, 2017
butterflyl1on:
Animals do not know right from wrong. We are the ones who see it that way. They simply act based on their nature.

There is no morality or immorality among animals.
Who else want to see it?
It is like saying animal poo is not poo. It is we humans that see it as poo 'cause we poo!

Even if we see it that way, we can only define it with respect to our own perspective. Which implies animals exhibits behaviours that can be distinguished as either right or wrong.

Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Morality. A Question! by chemystery: 9:37pm On Sep 30, 2017
butterflyl1on:
So far as we know, animals can't be moral or immoral because so far as we know they don't think about it that way.

That is to say that any assignments of the "morality" of their actions are based entirely upon our interpretations of, and our assignment of our values to their actions. This is called inference. We humans are exceptionally good at it.

Thinking about the actions of others (and ourselves) as "moral" or "immoral" seems to be a uniquely human trait So you can tell a story about an Evil animal or a good animal but it is only meaningful in the context of your story. The animals don't know,or care.
The question is who gave such animals their moral code ?

I don't have a problems with your stand about God.... My question is what is good and what is bad in the light of common sense? OK lets take God away from it...just reply me...
It has to do with our instinct towards accessing and distinguishing benefit from harm.
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists And Morality. A Question! by chemystery: 9:12pm On Sep 30, 2017
vaxx:
fine ...and this will now birth another question... What is good and what is bad in light of common sense? You will see the importance of God if this questions can be answer genuinely.... I had a topic like this before
God has nothing to do with morality or our judgement of good/bad. If animals like dogs without gods could distinguish good from bad, why can't humans have better judgements?

Funny times we live in... When religions claim not to be religions, but attribute atheism as a religion.

It seems religion has become unattractive and repulsive to those who should treasure it most.
