Worwor: All what he wrote up there are sure "lecture" to dupe the gullible. Any body that can't see the trick in his lecture can easily be duped either by a babalawo or a pastor.
*You do ritual + work hard: -If successful, babalawo takes the glory -If not successful, babalawo starts talking about head/luck.
*You pray + work hard: -If successful, pastor takes the glory -If not successful, pastor starts talking about JOB in the Bible
In both cases money paid to either babalawo or pastor is not refundable. Exactly!!! |

uvalued: haha my post shouldnt be to make us feel superior but to make you and your ilk know that its not an african thingy. i condemn ritual killing for been ritual killing but that does not make me condemn africa which you foolishly did... you are first of all an african before your current belief but come to think of it, when the "white" man encounters a phenomenon, he would sacrifice his life to make it a common belief that there is NOTHING mysetrious to it. i will like to employ you or your skeptical type to enter the dark cave of ritual killing to prove its hogwash. south western nigeria can be your start point..with camera and even security might be a great way to start You are living in delusion to think a mere portions of human organs can do magical things. Same way your people in Africa once believed twins were evil, and killing of twins will appease the gods. Europeans once lived in era of magic and rituals. They call those time the dark ages. You are living in your own era of dark age! |

Have you ever asked yourself thise question; if black magic is as fictitious and supersticious as i use to think it is, why then do we hear new cases of money ritual et al almost everyday? Or are those behind it only trying to spresd rumours as a marketing strategy to increase sales? So because you keep hearing people being scammed makes ritual killing real. Why are babalawos not among the richest people in the world if actually they possess powers to make others rich |

I'm member of skeptic group that always ridicule Africa for ignorance, especially in cases such as money rituals. This made me search for other cases of ritual killing outside Africa but find almost none but a good number of them in india. Googling america ritual killing will only give you result >99℅ of cases from Africa. It's not something you see on their media or in the news every now and then unlike in Africa. By the way, what a the details of the cases you found from your search? You make me laugh though. So with ritual killings I should feel superior whereas this is something we should be ashamed of believing. |

Nigerians and Africans are known to still hold wide number of superstitious beliefs. Like you indicated, we have increasing numbers of participants because they believe magical potions of human parts can bring fortune even when there is no proof of anyone ever getting rich from such. It is just what it is - a mere superstitious belief!
Most times, what we hear are stories and speculations founded on ignorance and hearsays, and our media and home videos also contribute in propagating these false beliefs.
I will say those who engage or believe in such are driven by ignorance, poverty, desperation, gullibility, and irrationalism.
If money ritual works, it should be ubiquitous. But then, you only hear of it happening in some parts of Africa.
Just try google and see if you will get results of ritual killing outside Africa. |

Christianity Etc › Re: A Little Question To The Atheist by chemystery: 10:56am On Sep 14, 2017 |
Seun: Sexual reproduction started long before we came into the picture. All creatures that reproduce sexually such as humans, monkeys, rats, insects, and maybe even plants, inherited the ability to reproduce sexually from a very primitive common ancestor. Prior to that, our ancestors reproduced by cloning themselves, like most microbes do today. Some of them developed the ability to exchange DNA fragments in order to gain useful traits from each other, like immunity to various diseases and the ability to process new types of food, as many microbes are capable of today. This DNA exchange process got better and better and became what is known today as sexual reproduction. Over time, our primitive ancestors lost the ability to clone themselves and became completely dependent on sexual reproduction. We (people, spiders, & beans) just inherited it.
The fact that the sperm and eggs of human beings are compatible isn't remarkable since we would not be here otherwise. The interesting thing is that the sperm and eggs of species that used to have a common ancestor can cease to become compatible with each other over time. This is part of what is known as "speciation" and it's the reason why nature is so diverse. Without speciation there would be very few distinct species.
My answer to your question based on my limited knowledge. For more info, go here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_of_sexual_reproduction Wow, thanks for this. I learnt something new today. I will still read further. Unfortunately, you will be surprised how some theist will come and exhibit their ignorance and delusion on this very comment. Just watch! |

Hier: Do you consider the fact that the female possess the perfect ovaries to fertilize the male's s*men an accident?
Note, the man evolve as a man, the woman evolve as a woman. The two live independent, so if they evolve, each unit (male and female) evolve without influencing the other gender mode of evolution.
I believe it was designed by someone, that someone is who I term God.
If you disagree, prove otherwise
cc chemystery I honestly attribute that to my lack of total understanding of the world. And the logical way to go about finding an answer is to seek for proof and evidence before arriving at a conclusion. On the other hand, you have already arrived at a conclusion, then provided your lack of understanding as proof which is irrational. I want you therefore to always have it at the back of your mind that the lack of understanding of something is not an evidence of god, but an evidence of lack of understanding |

frank317: Glad I am not the only one who is noticing how the story is gradually evolving.
- The op never mentioned that the pastor mentioned the name of the victim, but alone the line the op inserted it
-he never mentioned that it was his close relative, it even assumed he was just a church member ,but all of a sudden he has become his relative just make us feel he has details of the occurrence.
- notice how he inserted the time frame? Just to show the victim had not time to think through the prophesy
- the op said the victim sustained a minor injury after the accident, showing the prayer really alerted the accident, but all of a sudden,he had added that the accident was serious and the man 'who sustained a minor injury' almost bled to death.
Like u said, I see self fulfilled prophecy at play here. The main story is in the op, any other thing he is adding is his mind playing tricks on him. How sure are you that there are no lies therein in the OP? It is evident he tried to fine tune the initial story to make it irrefutable. But as it turned out unfavorable for him, he kept on fine tuning it further to close all unforeseen loopholes that weren't taken care of in the original post. |

Well, CoolUsername & hopefulLandlord have done justice to whatever there is to say. In addition to that, doesn't this scenario look absurd to you? Picture this:
God saw what would happen to the sexton, God could stop it but God be like:
"Well, I know what you all want already but I just want to hear you beg!"
The congregation now begged and god be like:
"Alright sexton, congregation don beg on your behalf. Oya, chop this small wound!"
Meaning if no one had prayed, god, knowing what would happen to the sexton will be like:
"Hehehe, i expected them to beg but no one begged for you sexton, so you can go to hell for all I care"
Too egocentric and anthropomorphic for a god in the first place |

onto your post, there's a bit of fallacy in your thinking right now that's called "False Dichotomy Fallacy"
you're only considering 2 options which are Atheism and Christianity, whereas there are many others you seem not to be either aware of or are ignoring
I think from your writeup, atheism repulses you but you don't see yourself remaining a Christian while being true to yourself, you're probably realising the claims of Christianity are not true but you can't take the jump from Christianity to atheism, why not learn about Deism? Pantheism? Panentheism? pandeism and many other labels and see which one fits you properly? Or better still, there is Islam, Judaism and loads of other religion |

Jode: I was once a church loving boy. I could participate in all activities in church and yes everyone loved me. The zeal to attend church programmes was there and i always loved to be in the midst of believers and i can say i loved God. But as time went,I noticed all these were/are no longer there, i now believe science more and i now think science has an explanation for everything that happens. I no longer hold the things of God with esteem. I think i no longer believe in what God can do, and to be sincere i am very sad about this. I don't know what to do as i am losing it. I don't want to become an atheist,in fact i don't like atheism. I know there is a true God but it seems a force is pulling me back and wanting to give up my faith. The faith i have known for long, the faith i have believed. What can i do please. I don't want to become an atheist. Ps--No offense to atheists in here Fable should be taught as fable, myth as myth, and miracles as poetic fancies. To teach superstitions as truth is horrifying. The mind of a child accepts them and only through great pain, perhaps tragedy, can the child be relieved of them. __ Hypatia Men will fight for superstition as quickly as for the living truth -- even more so, since a superstition is intangible, you can't get at it to refute it, but truth is a point of view, as so is changeable. You are going through the pain and tragedy Hypatia was talking about. We all went through it! |

butterflylion: Yet I spoke strictly scientifically with you and dropped scientific facts down your gullet.
I know it's hard to accept but let me echo the words of the observer, " you got schooled son" ehya! You really wish. At the end of the day you live in delusion that snake eats dust and the earth is <10,000 years old. So scientific of you, kikikikikikiki! All you have been doing is trying to shove dogmatic conclusion of god being eternal and creating the universe down my throat, and doing so without any proof! Playing the same card with you, I also had to invent similar dogmatic card of eternal universe. Since we can conclude without proof that god is eternal, we can also make such hasty conclusion for the universe, still without proof. But now, you started speaking in the light of science of universe being 13billion years, hence defeating you conclusion that god created the universe (cos according to your comic book called buybull, god only did that just less than 10,000years ago). I played on your gullibility and you fell for it! You knew you were about shooting yourself in the leg that was why you were screaming goalpost shifting on every issue you were suppose to address. Hahahaha I have always made my position known that I don't know when the universe began and how it began. And it will forever remain so until science is able to give a satisfactory answer. Meanwhile, go and read your buybull and continue living in the delusion that earth was created by an imaginary superbeing <10000years ago, and that he created it flat and snake consumes dust. Hahahaha, I got schooled out of you wishful thinking that god created the universe. When? You don't know whether it is 13billion years ago or 10,000years ago. Is it not shameful to you that man is telling god when he created the universe as well as the shape of the earth? Please go and read your buybull, I'm done with you Smh! |
