chatinent: Wow. What you narrated could be a mental disorder. How do I know? Because it's not what Speaking In Tongues entails. First Century Christians used the gift to preach God's Kingdom. Mental disorder? Really? Okay, that gave me a good laugh. Dont even know how to address this promulgation of yours so I'll just let it slide. |

chatinent: Narrate to me where you saw it please. Sure. Back in my youth service days, I had a corps member friend in the corners lodge. We are both Igbo, and we served in Akwa Ibom State Now this friend of mine was highly spiritual, and attuned to God but she disliked Ibibios very passionately. One morning, I was woken by a female voice shouting rather animatedly in Ibibio. I assumed some of the indigenes were having a brawl, but it soon occurred to me it was only one voice speaking. I got up to investigate, and found my friend speaking ibibio very loudly on the porch. Other corps members were watching. At the end of it, when we told her she had been speaking Ibibio, she was mad at us and claimed she was not, that she was just praying. She obviously had no idea what she did. The indigenes around us however got the message. |

chatinent: (c) All rights reserved. . 1. Myth: Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in heaven. Apparently, this is not a new saying as people tend to say what they might have heard about the Witnesses not scrutinizing them whether or not they are truth.
. Truth: Jehovah's Witnesses believe in heaven as the residence of the Creator of the Universe. . 2. Myth: Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in hell. . Truth: This is where people misunderstand themselves. Jehovah's Witnesses believe 'Hell' is the common grave of mankind. Witnesses do not believe in 'hell fire' as it is unbiblical, unless you'll show me where the original sinners -- Adam and Eve -- went to 'hell fire.' . 3. Myth: Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate anything. . Truth: If you mean holidays like birthdays, Christmas etc., of course yes. Think: what is the relevance of Santa Claus in the bible? Do they or not have pagan origins? In fact, Witnesses commemorate the Death of Jesus as Jesus asked his disciples to do. . 4. Myth: Jehovah's Witness do not speak in tongues. . Truth: Well, Jehovah's Witnesses speak many languages as they come from differing lands but do not involve in the ecstatic speaking performed today by religious leaders. The first century Christians who received the gift used it to preach to people (as the early congregants were filled with people from many lands), so they spoke a language and all who heard understood. Note: To preach. Is that what is done today? Don't throw caution to the wind.
. 5. Myth: Jehovah's Witnesses do not do blood transfusions and are wicked to see their loved one die. . Truth: Witnesses put much faith in doing God's will. Sorry to disappoint you, they love their children and loved ones. In fact, medical practitioners agree that it is not safe either, and no guarantee of living well or surviving as no blood samples really match another. Besides, there are other non-blood media. Coming to think of it, Witnesses put faith in the resurrection. Yes, so why worry of this wicked world? . Have more questions? Visit www.jw.org or simply ask them here constructively. I agree 100% with the speaking in tongues bit. That has always been my belief and I am not a Jehovah's witness. Speaking in tongues simply means speaking in a different language for the benefit of the listener and I have seen it done. |

Kylekent59: I can remember one nairalander saying that face mask doesn't do anything, and to my surprise he even said scientist claims mask doesn't prevent coronavirus. He had 300 likes.
This is to tell you the type of people we have on Nairaland.
You see, some people went to school and they became graduates, but don't have that thinking faculty to profer a solution when the need arises.
I also came about a thread where a guy was kinda seeking for people opinions on how to curtail the spread of COVID-19, but still the moods keep feeding us with Abba k.
We ain't ready to progress in this country. The governments ain't to be blamed. You cannot really blame the guy. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Like I mentioned earlier, I once watched a doctor explain that masks are ineffective against the Corona virus. I hope the Lagos State government carries out a massive campaign to explain to people how protective masks are, how to use them effectively etc. |

My only worry about terminating this lockdown is children. Risk of infection in children, especially those under 5 who cannot be security conscious might be high. However, just like someone pointed out , the lockdown measure is not sustainable. I pray a vaccine/cure is found soon.
#Seun, the controversy regarding how effective nose masks are, is another issue. I watched a video once in which a self acclaimed American doctor claimed only N95 masks are effective. Proper orientation is needed. Are regular masks effective or not, people need to know. |

Apus: Dear Nairalanders, please I would really need your advice based on user experience on the best rechargeable Fan that lasts between 6-7 hours. I'm not having it funny with the heat here and the community forbids one running generator throughout the night. Thank you. I have two. One Qasa table top, which cost me 12k and a Lontor standing fan which cost 18k. Both are rechargeable. The Qasa charges slightly faster then than the Lontor. Both last about 8 hours at medium speed when fully charged. The Lontor also comes with remote control. |

Nice. Thanks for doing this. My car's check engine light came on a few weeks ago. Took it to my mechanic who couldn't find anything wrong with it, but I serviced it all the same. He disabled the light. Two days before the lockdown, the light came on again. Many people have told me it's no big deal, but it still bothers me. The car runs well. |
