I think the problem these days is a lack of maturity and willingness to sacrifice or compromise. Many people want to continue to enjoy living the life of s single person while married. I have been married for 12 years and quite frankly, it hasn't been a walk in the park, but determination, sacrifice and prayer have kept us going. Marriages usually experience their worst upheaval during the first five years, and it's important to approach it with wisdom and a willingness to compromise.

My fiance wanted to come to the house to see my mum but I told him I won't be around because I'm about heading out to somewhere, so he asked me if my mum would be around, then I said yes and he said he would still go to see her and it doesn't matter if I'm not around.

When I later got home that night, my mum complained that he came empty handed. He didn't bring anything for her and she was the one who offered him her drink.

Although initially, I didn't see anything wrong with that but when my mum expressed her displeasure, I later called him to ask why he came to the house empty handed then I let him know I wasn't happy with him, that it would have been better if he didn't come. He tried arguing with me but I hung up.

Since then, we haven't spoken to each other nor visited each other. Was I wrong?

Yes, you are wrong. Gifts are optional. Your mum is wrong as well and unreasonable to be angry. I sense you have a good, family oriented man given the fact that he was willing to visit your mum even though you weren't there. Do not lose your man over this.

I hope they do. My parents moved us to Lagos when I was eight. I'd love to visit Enugu and re-live some of my early childhood memories. I attended NAOWA, the army children's school and Independence Layout Primary School.

It's the new normal. My daughter started at 10 as well. The age at which children go through puberty has been steadily dropping over the years.

I was just going to write the same thing. This same story keeps resurfacing...probably a fictional tale.

In layman's terms, oven bake is done in a heated room (the oven) and is an automated process that also allows the paint dry at the most ideal temperature. Spray painting is exactly that. The paint is sprayed on and left to air dry. Oven bake is considerably more expensive as it is reputed to make the paint last longer. Some claim it also looks better. However, if you go for spray painting and make sure it's followed up with a proper waxing job, it'll help prolong the life of the paint as well. Most of us don't wax our cars in Nigeria. I am guilty of that as well, even though I bought wax that's been sitting on a shelf for sometime.

Many Nigerians don't seem to know the first thing about safety. We love to gather in crowds whenever there is some sort of disaster as if that's the venue of the latest entertainment hub, not minding the risk to life and limb. Should there be a second explosion, those bystanders will be goners.
