Lol men are angry about women on here and you thought you, a woman, could get a favour from a raging man that's crediting people for saying the truth about women's wicked ways. I kid you not, you're not getting anything.
That person is actually one of your fellow men.
I have tracked him and his real name and Facebook from his UBA account.
He is an Igbo boy named Gabriel.

I don't understand why the guys on this thread are getting so emotional over this issue. Do you people think men don't mess up in relationships?
You think men are saints and women are devils? Or you think men are always faithful while women always cheat?

Get over yourselves jor.

With the many stories of men raping their girlfriends because they refused them sex, there was a story on nairaland of one that killed her after raping her because she wanted to keep her virginity.
Then what of men that waste a womans life, date her for years and years then leave her when she is old?
What about the ones that use women for money then abandon them for another woman?

Rubbish.

I won't even take this thread seriously untill I hear the girls side of the story. How are we sure OP hasn't been mistreating that girl or even cheating on her as well because if he has he won't come here to tell us.

Anyone quotes me to say nonsense, may your family be afflicted with any nonsense or insult you write to your tenth generation.

seriously are you saying this?
op is complaining about bills you are still saying women should pay someone to do the domestic work

why don't you men just plan your lives well when single , instead of using all your singlehood in chasing girls without any kind of structure in place and no savings or investments before marriage

what the op and her husband going through is using the resources that would have been used to raise one child to raise four. Very typical in many African homes

After putting the kids through hell they will expect the kids to be their Messiah and take them out of poverty
and the cycle continues.

I don't even consider myself as equal with other men (we don't have the same size of d**k). The equality argument is bullcrap, we were all created in different and peculiar ways. However for a home, a team, or organisation to remain successful, there has to be leader and that's the role a married man is expected to play (according to my belief).
no

Lmao grin grin I don't need to challenge anybody. I only called you out because of the hate message you preach against men. Marriage is not by force, and even if everybody desire marriage, we all won't get married.

The woman you choose as a role model on this forum is happily married, dear. Visit the food section and check out the fantastic delicacies she prepares for herself and her husband. After cooking sumptuous meals and posting on food section, she comes to the family section to lure naive people into the female dominance bullcrap. Be wise.
@bold,
I don't know why you have a personal agenda against cococandy.
Why bringing her up in a matter that concerns just two of us?
I didn't even quote her or write to her anywhere on this thread but this is the second time you are mentioning this role model stuff. I can't laugh Abeg.
Stop being obsessed with her she's a married woman. Acidosis leave another man's wife alone oo, she's a married woman. grin

Men are obligated to help with housework once the wife starts contributing financially.

Its not a favor, it's a must for them to assist.

There's no house with children that can ever be spick and span. You have to constantly be on the move to clean up after them, otherwise You will see real pigsty.
The care of the kids include cleaning up after them, you can sweep more than 10 times a day cleaning up their mess. If there were no kids involved, there's not much housework to do. You dont need to vacuum daily, what of washing dirty clothes in a day?, ironing their mountain of clothes alone n ko?
Don't mind him.

The funny part of this debate is that Nigerian women will always shout on how cooking, taking care of children cleaning and sweeping are very difficult jobs until it is time to get a househelp then they will get an underaged small girl to do these same roles and even when they get an adult they will pay below minimum wage for the same roles they say they should be worshiped for.
What kind of lie is this?

When women employ those helps do you think they abandon 100% of the chores for them?
I have known people that brought relatives like that to assist them at home, all those people do is ASSIST. whether the maid is an adult or a teenager. Women don't just sit around and let another person do everything in the name of househelp.
Stop telling lies because you want to run women down.

crackhaus:
Which of these is a lot harder to do:
Doing chores, or settling bills?
It depends on the nature of the man's job and the nature of the house/children in the case of the woman.
Some men work sedentary office jobs and basically sit all day doing their jobs. Or he could be an entrepreneur who only gives instructions to those working under him. If he has a wife caring for children who are a handful; they could be stubborn or like rough housing the woman will have a harder job keeping an eye on them and keeping the house running smoothly at the same time. Even if kids are well behaved, you still have to monitor their activities, go through their school work and do revisions, help with home work give emotional support, advice etc, so it really depends on the nature of the man's job and the nature of the family the woman is running.
Its not a fixed thing, you can't really say breadwinning is always easier or housework is always easier.

In another vein, only extremely few women are completely jobless or wait on their husbands to provide everything so I don't know how this ill thought topic even came about. Almost all Nigerian women have something doing to support the family and buy things for their children. Even if it's not a white collar job they usually have handiwork; hair dressing, catering, baking, makeup artists, event decorators, or petty trading they run.
Just go into any Nigerian market and see the large number of women who have stores there, its even more customary for women to trade in markets than for men to do it. So how can anybody still talk about women not contributing financially in this day and age?

Of course...it is the sole responsibility of the man to provide for his family especially in this part of world so do not even think of chickening out.
Deal with it while I deal with house chores and taking care of the kids.

If you are looking for trouble find another thread for that.
You're very correct, in this part of the world where women are treated like second class citizens and men like kings, it's the responsibility of the man to provide.
Until Nigeria and Nigerians accept that women are not lesser humans then it will remain that way.

I'll be honest, the answer to your question is a NO. Marriage in its present soiled state makes no sense anymore only for one reason - everything that can be gained and gotten within this institution can be gained and gotten comfortably outside of it without the hassles of standing before a judge or cleric.

The real issue here remains that we Nigerians are among the "fakest" group of people on earth. We are great at projecting what isn't while existing on the opposite - there are only a handful of Nigerian women ready to be with a man long-term, birth his kids, and basically act like an unofficial wife without actually being a wife.
Despite this, young Nigerian girls are everywhere on the web trying to prove they don't need marriage

Let selfishness and wickedness not kill Nigerian men.
So what's the big deal in assisting your wife instead of hiring house help who in some cases are dangerous criminals?
Did we not read on Nairaland some few days ago how one housemaid stabbed her madam and ran away with her belongings? Or is it the one when the maid absconded with her madam children, thank God that one was caught.
Men assist your wives, stop feeling too superior to do house work.
You want her to help you with cash but your self centered wicked souls will make excuses when it comes to helping her with her own duties.

How many of the fellow sisters have come to you to seek guidance about divorce proceedings? You think they will leave their DHs to join you in your bitter campaign against men?
See how you jump from calling me bitter and single to later mentioning my husband cheating in another quote grin
Continue jumping from calling me single and bitter to calling me an unhappy married woman.
Its really making me laugh over here.
By the way I am not asking anybody to leave their husbands neither am I campaigning against men. I know that decent men exist, they are few in woman hating societies like Nigeria but they do exist, I am not fighting men, calm down. I am pointing out how women are mostly in the losing side when it comes to married life and marital laws in misorginistic societies like Nigeria. Marriage should not be forced down anyone's throat, it is not a do or die affair. If it must take place, then laws should be reviewed to ensure both parties involved are not cheated of their human rights or taken advantage of,especially for women who sacrifice their lives and dreams and freedom and barely get anything back.
Simple.
You are not as smart as you tink. How can you be a widow, a divorcee, or a widower if you're never married? Sh!t happens and people die, it doesn't take away the memory of a father or a mother figure.
I just brought that up as a way to let you know that family can continue and can exist if marriage is not in the picture. If a person's spouse dies it doesn't automatically destroy any familial relationship they have with their children or other members of their extended family.

You're campaigning against marriage yet talking about widow and bullsh!t. May be you don't know the difference between a widow and a hoe: a widow can hold a family and do so comfortably because she upholds the family structure. A hoe on the other hand is more likely to raise a bastard. Bastards no dey get father talk more of uncle or cousin. Have you ever seen a product of hoesism talking about cousins, nieces, etc.?
So much anger in this post, look at all the dirty words used, wow its like my post got you so worked up.
Thats what happens if you get in conversations with people on the internet, you will certainly get conflicting views from others but try not to let their opinions get to you.
Acidosis, what I have been doing on this thread is mentioning the ways women are cheated and taken advantage of in the way present marriages are run. Many men are so irresponsible and self centered and selfish and putting their wives through misery day in day out. I joined many women oriented groups on Facebook and I see the horror stories these women tell of what they encountered in their marriages. Coupled with my own real life experiences of my relatives. These are not fake stories, they are reallife stories told by real women with real Facebook profiles you can check to verify so to answer your questions, yes, these my sisters came to complain to me that's why I am fighting for them.
I am all for justice and fairness. If a person is being cheated or taken advantage of in marriage then I think it's better for them to be single and happy. If they must be married then laws must be modified to ensure they get a fair deal.
I spoke against the oppressive firm of marriage in Nigerian societies where women are supposed to take so much bullshit and stay patient and keep praying.
If the marriage is a fair and just one with equitable laws both parties are happy with then well and good, they can get married.
I particularly dislike the word bastard, I feel it's wrong to label a child who had nothing to do with their being born outside wedlock such a dirty word. It's a very unfair and evil insult, I don't understand how you were so okay with throwing around that word left and right in your post.
Oh, and you are here talking about hoeism and how one can not be a hoe and have a decent family but what about useless men that keep girlfriend after girlfriend outside their marriage and spend money they are supposed to use in taking care of their families on these girls. Are the actions of these men good for marriage?
hoeism is bad for marriage but the multitude of cheating married men is good abi? Is it not the same sexual immorality both parties are practicing?
Don't allow your sons and daughters lay curses on you when they start comparing themselves with their colleagues in schools. Uphold the family values and stop spreading hate messages against the family structure. All over the world today, even Presidents are expected to present a first lady before assuming the sensitive position because that is the only thing that matters. Charity begins from home.
I will only uphold family structure if it doesn't entail women putting up with shiiit and being taken advantage of.

If you married a cheat, then that's your personal business and not the problem for men in general. How can you fail in a business and start blaming other entrepreneurs in your industry?
I thought I was a bitter lonely spinster with no man to hold me on cold nights grin grin grin

It is those women who are made to feel like their husbands did them a favour by marrying them and they have to do everything to "keep" him. That is the problem.

Plus as you pointed out, the general idea is that women are the ones who make the home. So...apologize even when he is wrong for peace to reign...turn a blind eye when he cheats and still open your legs for him not considering the possibility of STDs...still for peace to reign.

How does this in any way make a woman benefit more?
Women don't benefit more, its just a silly lie peddled around to make more women crave marriage and put up with bullshit treatment to keep the marriage.

Take childbearing for instance, a woman sacrifices her body and health and rest and sleep to bear kids and take care of them, in gross majority of cases she also provides for them along with the father and in cases where the dad is deadbeat or poorer than the mum or even passed on, she provides more for that child but guess what? After all that sacrifice the child still traditionally belongs to the husband's family, bears his name and everything.

Look at men these days telling women to be independent and not depend on husband for anything but they will not advocate for women to stop answering her husband's name since he is no longer providing for her.
Even the ones that husband is not currently providing for still have to bear husbands name like indentured dependant. Where is the benefit?

I don't know who this Vilar is, whoever she is, she has a right to her opinion.

Saying that women are more advantaged in marriages in Nigeria is laughable and incredulous. While growing up, an average Nigerian female is being raised to conduct herself in ways that will be acceptable in her "husband's house. Are boys raised same way? Has any boy ever been told to act or not to act in a certain way because of his future wife? If this is not a sign that one party is going into marriages to please the other, I don't know what is.
A distressed woman will come online to post that her husband has been cheating on her. What kind of replies will you see? Keep praying, cook his favourite meals, satisfy him sexually etc. Let a man come and post same, will you see same replies? Send her back to her father's house will be the common anthem.
She gets beaten up by her husband, then she's at fault, she was not submissive enough, she must have used her sharp tongue to provoke him etc
One came to post that her husband raped a minor and his family is begging her not to expose him. Of course she was advised to keep shut and keep praying for the paedophile because a wise woman keeps her marriage no matter what.
So many bullshit a lot of Nigerian women has to stomach in the name of keeping a marriage yet you say they gain more?

Not anymore.

Women are burdened with a lot of responsibility in marriage while the guy just sits back and controls.

She is expected to do the chores, take care of the children and still contribute financially(sometimes even more) but the guy still wants that authority...control...submission...final say. And you say women benefit more?

Many women are just staying for one reason or the other. If they had their way, they would leave with their children instead of adding a big baby to their burden especially one that is not of any tangible or visible assistance to her and the family.
I fully agree.
Its just so horrifying the crap many women have to tolerate to stay peacefully married.
In many homes the wives are the ones supporting the family financially either because the husband earns far less than her or because the husband is facing financial difficulties but they don't go outside to complain about it, the wife keeps silent and bears her cross so that people will not accuse her of being arrogant and insulting her husband. But let a man be only one supporting the home financially, that is when you see them disrespecting their wives because they think she is just sitting at home and getting fat on their hard earned money. Some will even start openly cheating on her as if the cooking, housekeeping and childcare she is doing is not a full time job on its own.
Men are typically not encouraged to fight to keep the home in one peace even if they are the so called leaders, the general consensus in a backward shithole like Nigeria is that the woman is the homebuilder.
