TV/Movies › Re: Blood Sisters: Ratings And Review (Nigerian Movie On Netflix) by chrisooblog: 9:02pm On May 06, 2022 |
Very good movie I agree Mo Abudu has started well redeeming herself for the Chief Daddy nonsense in January. I'm a big action movie fan so I was very impressed with the fight scenes well choreographed. Most realistic and believable fight scenes I've seen in any Nigerian movie. Most if not all the actors brought their A game. Deyemi would have been my star if he didn't only appear in one episode. By far the best male performance in the mini-series. My accolades go to Miss Isime. She really carried the storied of the blood sisters. I give her props for really putting herself out for some of those physically tasking real down to earth performance. Okojie played off her very well. Watching them you never doubted that they had each others backs and were willing to die for each other. Mr Ramsey, Kate Henshaw and Bankole deserve honorable mentions too. Gab Afolayan was good too but a little bit subdued for me going by his high standards. Like you rightly said the ensemble cast were well directed, with each allowed screen time to shine. Fantastic locations shots making use of variety of settings and locales not just the overused Lekki,Ikoyi and Marina areas. Cinematography was also good with some impressive shots here and there. Story wise the film was generally good but some areas in terms of continuity and character behavior/motivations had me scratching my head once or twice but overall nothing that would affect the general look of the movie. Going forward any Nigerian producer attempting to make a movie should watch blood sisters and use it as gauge of what future movies should be in terms of location shots, choreography attention to detail and flow of the story. Rating: 8/10 safarigirl: Yes, I am quite aware it is 4:00AM Nigerian time, and yet, I am wide awake, about to drop a review that will most likely be lengthy, so, you already know how bomb this watch was.
Please, if you have not watched Blood Sisters, I am about to unapologetically ruin the suspense for you, so, if you would like to maintain the purity of a good watch, I would advise you stop reading at this point, and perhaps return after watching.
Without further ado, here goes the review of the year (for me)
Movie: Blood Sisters
Producer(s): EbonyLife Studios (Mo Abudu), Netflix Director(s): Biyi Bandele, Kenneth Gyang Cast: Ini-Dima Okojie Nancy Isime Kate Henshaw Wale Ojo Deyemi Okanlawon Ramsey Noah Gabriel Afolayan Kehinde Bankole Genoveve Umeh Ibrahim Suleiman Daniel Etim-Effiong Uche Jombo Keppy Ekpeyong Run Time: 4 episodes of 1 hour each
Plot: Best friends Sarah Duru (Okojie) and Kemi Sanya (Isime), go on the run, after the accidental murder of Sarah's wealthy, influential, but extremely abusive fiancee, Kola Ademola (Okanlawon). In the hunt for the girls, secrets are revealed that threaten the facade the Ademola family matriarch, Uduak (Henshaw), has built over the years.
Review:
Hmm...like earlier stated, this is about to be a long read, because I cannot begin this review without going through a vote of thanks.
First of all, I would like to thank Aunty Mo Abudu for this brilliant work. I know I heavily shat on that atrocity of a movie they used to open the year for us, so, in the same light, I am here to douse this production in accolades.
The plot of this series was brilliant, and whoever suggested it be shot as a Limited Series, must have been communing with the angels at the time, because nothing else could have quite done justice to this Series and the many intricacies the plot presented. There were so many layers to the story, so many parts, it wasn't just a straightforward 'girls kill rich guy and go on the run' story. We were introduced to subplots; some other suspects, a sordid past, a dysfunctional family, bribery, blackmail, organ harvesting, all interwoven into one storyline. Lesser writers would have muddled it all up, but kudos to the writers of this story, because no one plotline swallowed the other. Although Sarah Duru and Kemi Sanya were the leads, I feel like the plotline allowed every other actor to shine, while not overshadowing the premise of the story. The scriptwriting in this, is possibly the best of any Nigerian production on Netflix in the last couple of years. Guys, there were punchlines, especially from Officer Joe 'Chicago' Obasanjo (Wale Ojo),there were quotable quotes. Ah, they finished work with the script.
My next point has to be the costuming, because the casting is so good, I may have to save it for later. If you're a fashion enthusiast, I imagine you must have been shrieking in glee at every outift reveal, particularly with Uduak Ademola (Henshaw), every piece was a hit, and damn if Miss Henshaw didn't wear the fabric off everything that got on her skin. I just dey see "couture, couture" everywhere, Netflix's budget did not go into any cheap shit, you can tell. Another character whose outfits I really enjoyed, whole not being flamboyant, has to be Akin's (Daniel Etim-Effiong). It was all simple, sleeveless kaftans, but they were so age appropriate and classy. Yinka Ademola (Kehinde Bankole), also had some outfits that will have you contacting your favourite clothes vendor for a wardrobe update. Every outfit was a hit, and you know Miss Bankole had the body for those fits.
Next up, settings. Now, you all know Lekkiwood would not be Lekkiwood if no be Lagos dem set the film. We really waka round Lagos, where we no reach? We saw Lekki, we saw Falomo, we saw a private beach (I'm not sure if it was Oniru or Elegushi), we enter village, and of course, our favorites tourist site, Makoko, also got a great feature. We were treated to scenes in the luxurious and palatial mansions the Ademolas called home, and we also got to see the simple, sparse abode of the hitman Blade, (Sam), we saw a modern beach house, and the inside of a bamboo house in a quaint village. The budget was very generously spread out in the location choices, and it all worked out for good.
Next up, cinematography. Brethren, at this point, I need not go into details of how amazing the cinematography was in this movie. At no point did I not see anything clearly. The screen clear die, there were enough views of the horizon, the lighting was awesome, I only had to see Eko bridge once and never again, because other things dey to shoot, the transitions were brilliant, and the effects, flawless....but cinematography is one thing you can trust EbonyLife on, if nothing else.
And now, without further ado, I would like to touch the casting. This one will possibly continue through another post, because I would really like to delve into some of my favourite performances, but generally speaking, the casting in this movie was nothing short of brilliant. Finally, we have an All-Star cast that did not combust with too much star power. I mean, y'all saw the main cast earlier, you know you cannot assemble such a cast without creating magic, especially when the script was so good. The guest stars were TOP Stars, from Joke Silva to Segun Arinze, Tope Tedela, Patrick Doyle, Okey Uzoeshi, Zack Orji, Toyin Abraham, Edo Dike, Denrele, and still, each of these people delivered their lines with such sleek professionalism. In fact everybody was exceptional. I hadn't seen Ini-Dima pull out a performance as good as what she gave in this, for a long time. I had almost started doubting her acting skill, because she was getting such lazy, mediocre scripts and her performances were reflecting that, but this time, she thoroughly stepped up, I most enjoyed her expressions, she sold the whole 'abused partner' role to the letter, and Nancy Isime was brilliant as usual, but these two while delivering brilliantly, were not my favorites. With the delivery, I would also like to properly appreciate Deyemi Okanlawon and Ramsey Noah. See, guys, Deyemi only featured in the first episode, as in, that was the only episode we actually got to see him speak, and interact, yet, his aura carried through to the last episode. It always felt like I was still watching him, even when he did not even feature. And then, there was Oga Ramsey Noah, see, una see this acting thing, leave am for Ramsey. He pulled off the role of Henchman in ways only someone with over 400 acting credits to his name and 20+ years of experience would be able to pull it off, while dressed in what is turning out to be his signature all black suit. I'm not sure Ramsey had more than 4 lines the entire 4 episodes of that Series, yet, we felt his every mood. You could tell when he was bored, when he was angry, when he was frustrated, when he was nonchalant, and yet, he never had to deliver any dialogue to relay his state of mind. It was just in his carriage and body language. Still, Ramsey was not the breakout star for me in this Series, because we all know what Ramsey can do.
For the sake of length, I would like to stop writing on the cast at this point, and just give a general conclusion that this Limited Series was brilliant. This is the kind of stuff Nollywood should be putting out on the international front, just so Netflix won't think we are a waste of funds. While this series did not thoroughly deviate from some of the tropes Lekkiwood and Aunty Mo like to explore like the cold, unwelcoming matriarch, the obnoxiously wealthy family marrying from a middle class family, and of course, a flamboyant owambe party for the culture, these tropes did not get to swallow the essence of a good old drama. Everything blended in to create a perfect story, and I can say with my full chest, that this is the BEST Nollywood and Netflix collaboration project. Perhaps more projects should explore the possibility of a Limited Series, rather than 1h53 mins movies that leave you feeling unsatisfied.
Rating: 9/10.
Watch or Trash- If you no watch this series, you fit regret am
PS: I would like to thank everyone involved in this production for doing justice to the title 'Blood Sisters', after that classic from Omotola and Genevieve, I would have been so pained if they ruined the title with a mediocre production.
UP NEXT: My list of favorite performances.
Meanwhile, have you seen the Limited Series, and what are your thoughts on it? |

Me I love Guardiola's kind of fraud. The type that guarantees trophies. Since moving to EPL he's almost turned it one farmers league with Man City winning all domestic trophies and breaking records. Man U has been spending the GDP of west african countries excluding Nigeria since Ferguson yet na only fa cup and yorupa league dem don win in 9 years. If e easy to spend money and trophies you sef do am. do4luv14: the crust is what had background got to do with it, you bring up opportunities again I ask what's your definition of it, you brought up, academy into it,
the most important thing you fail to observe is that the 2 of them doesn't start at same time,
and the opportunity you so centred your decision on, which to you is a yardstick, was not provided nor started by the govt of UK, but dock workers, who started it,
infact this is where I drop my Pen on this matter, you can say whatever you want, but plz don't mention me on it, am done thats

Young Nigerian footballers feel too big to work ? you donmenit? wondafull! So all those thousands of kids that go for trials at u17 national team tryouts they are going to play ludo there abi? So you are saying if Apple INC wants to hire people they will look at a Harvard graduate and a LASU graduate then choose the LASU because na the same opportunity na. VillageBus: yes, it is the samething. They both have training materials and coaches.
Most Nigerians are ashamed of the npfl, and the most talented of the aspiring footballers in Nigeria don't want to play in the npfl, it is the average and below that quickly accept npfl clubs invite. In the past I have adviced many very good young ballers to join an npfl team, none of them agreed, some said they rather not play football than play in the npfl, others that said they will give it a try never did. December last year I saw one of them he currently plays for wikki tourist, he did quit trying to become a footballer at age 21, after been scammed by fake agents after fake agents, at 25 during there uni break he decided to follow his younger bro whom trains with wikki feeders to there training, the coach invited him to join the team, within one year he have been moved to there main team. I watched him last year he isn't half as good as he was, despite that he is one of there best players, a club swedish second div even contacted him last year.
In summary, opportunities dey everywhere for aspiring young footballers in Nigeria but na Dem dey feel too big to work just because Dem dey talented. |

So joining Enyimba feeder team is the same as playing in Chelsea academy? Please tell me more. VillageBus: this one you are shouting Access to academy, did anybody stopped the nigerian kids from joining any local team close to them? Simply join the feeders team of any npfl team in the state you stay, but no aspiring footballers in Nigeria want to move from there father's house to Europe. |

bros the thing tire me self TheGoodJoe:
I do not understand all this long story. A player has a chance to get a shot at playing for Chelsea because of his talent and hardwork. Another has little to zero chance of getting into Chelsea even if his is twice as talented and hard-working as a kid in England because he was born in Nigeria.
Yet you people want to equate it as the same opportunity. Haba. |

It's simple really let's all not put our children in the best schools or hire the best tutors for them. Tell them to rely in their innate ability to succeed abi? Whatever struggle kids in academies have over there Nigerian kids have 10x worse. At least such kids have quality academies where they are dropped off. Most Nigerian kids don't even have access to academies to go to before we even talk about quality. M7even: You guys are really funny on this arguement. How can you think wearing booths and having a father to drop you off at your football academy is the criteria to succeed in football.
Look at it this way. It's like academics where a rich parents pays for the best school for a child and a poor parent manages to send the child to a public school or a village school. What's gonna be the outcome of this. The answer is very easy as each person here can simply conduct that analysis on his or herself. That you are attending the most expensive secondary school in Nigeria is an investment in a child's future simply because of the exposure it brings along. That you have attended a public school or village school is based on the individuals ability to display extraordinary academic performance to boost his chances of moving forward to the university and getting a good job.
If you are the rich normal kid, you will go to a university ( which is like the soccer booths) you will get a degree and if you are intellectually gifted get a job without the influence of your parents. If you aren't so bright you might need the connection of your parent to secure a job( like how English players always get offers and loans easily even when they don't perform well in the current club)
If you are the public school chap in the university, who still manages to hold on to excellence in academic performance you must be really exceptional for that academics achievement to bring you a great job that totally liberates your family from poverty ( think that Nigerian working in big tech or Silicon Valley like Microsoft , google or Wall Street , or big oil firm) think of that one guy from university days who got such jobs on pure merit ( think about every Nigerian player who worked his way playing football in Nigeria before making headlines at the Dailies or national tv) it couldn't have been easy to be mikel obj at Chelsea or iheanacho at Manchester city (they both conquered the world by their hardwork respectively at under 20 for former and under 17 for the latter winning their nation laurels)
But the bottom line is , how many rich kids get good jobs after attending expensive and supposed good schools today? How many English players are in the first team of the top six teams of the EPL. The truth is everyone wants the best and whatever opportunity you are presented with in life it will always be up to you to make the best out of it. |

Those thousands of boys can still join other clubs in the EPL, championship and League 1 whose quality is still way ahead of anything you will get in Nigeria. Those lower league English clubs will still give any truly talented player a platform to succeed. Plus the superior football education in countries like England will have equipped some of them to do well if they are truly talented. Nigerian born talents more often than not can only rely on sheer talent because they football basics are either poor or non existent. I read a story of how when Kanu first joined Ajax from Nigeria he had poor fundamentals to the extent even for throw-ins he displayed some ignorance on the proper way to execute it and this is some one with outrageous talent o!. Being born in a European country is not an automatic recipe for success but boy does it boost your chances. Some one like Nwakali who you rightly criticizes who knows if he was born in a place like Spain or France quality coaching from when he was 10 upwards would have ironed out the kinks in his game. I have read of clubs in Germany that use special training simulations that improves youngsters techniques because he does it so often it becomes muscle memory. Pray tell how do you want a Nigerian youngster who only plays 'set' to compete? komekn: Once again your complete lack of knowledge and understanding makrs you be say a lot of nonsense to be honest.
Do you know how many thousands of boys go on football trials at Chelsea but fail to get selected.
For your information Mbappe was on trial at Chelsea but failed to get selected.
If you by a miracle get past the trials ,you ate now in continuous competition year in year out. Every year a 20% of boys are dropped from the squad, could be more.
When you get to 12/13 Chelsea will buy teenage football players showing potential. These new players from Brazil, France, Portugal, etc May cancel out existing players in the team and they will be released.
So you have survived until 15/16 you now have to prove you are first team quality. You will be competing against experienced quality proven players bought for sometimes £50 million plus+.
If you then somehow overcome all these hurdles youthrn discover the manager doesn't like you or your agent and you are released i.e. Pogba released from United.
I could go on and on , do you know how many players get injured and can no longer continue end of the road ❓ What about racism Do you know how many players are denied opportunity because they are black.
So by sheer tenacity, outstanding ability and the Grace of God, you make it to the first team. Will anybody unless they are highly ignorant say to you, you had too much opportunity.
That's a nonsensical proposition without any substance. |

Bro you just can't dismiss how a better environment will impact on how good a player will turn out. Do you know how many incredibly gifted kids that play on the streets who were never discovered just because of the poor environment we live in? Messi that we all praise was it not a better Spanish system that brought him to limelight. Someone that had a health condition if not for Barcelona that paid for his medical treatment would we even know such a player exists? Let's even talk other sports Divine Oduduro never ran sub 10 or 20 seconds when he was in Nigeria immediately he went to America for studies and athletic scholarship his performance massively improved due to better facilities and comfortable environment. Now imagine he had been born there maybe we will be talking of another Usain Bolt. I have no problem with Abraham but I'm just being factual that being born in a country that is developed has given him access to opportunities that have seriously boosted his career. do4luv14: this is not just about Abraham or foreign borns,
it more about ways of life, standard of living, and the likes,
why do you think we Africans go to white man's land, almost everything they got, they struggled for it first, so Vic selling water, is his one kind of struggles, be that as it may
when you wanted to do a fair comparison, do it with like follows, cos it seems Abraham's rejection of playing for us is still fresh in many of our minds, hence any slight happenstance, we will run and compared him with Vic |

I had Aina in mind when I mentioned the football boots part. Imagine oh an academy kid has access to tons of kits, boots yakpa why won't he have piece of mind to do well? TheGoodJoe: I think this is the point you are trying to make. While one is looking for money to buy boots to train and time to train. An equally motivated kid in England has more than enough boots. That is the least of his worries.
19-year-old Chelsea prospect, Ola Aina donates all his old football boots and kits to teams in Nigeria
This was how Aina won my heart. |

You can not compare foreign born players struggle to Nigerian born players. For instance 7-9 years ago Osimhen was selling pure water in traffic, could barely afford football boots for training. While Abraham's struggle was just how to make it in the academy, worries about training kits or where his next meal will come from didn't cross his mind. do4luv14: which kind preach,
been observing his take on such issues and it's like, they did never had a struggle, or everything was laid for them,
preach indeed |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 12:44pm On May 03, 2022 |
Preach bro preach! This wonderful points you have raised is why sometimes I give guys like Osimhen, Chukwueze even Nwakali (ok I lie ) the benefit of the doubt because unlike their counterparts in Europe they didn't develop in world class environments, which includes cutting edge facilities, best of coaching, nutritionist/dietician, mentoring from world class players during training and on and on like. Guys like Osimhen need all the backing they can get. People should not misunderstand me I'm not saying we should pamper or condone mediocrity when we see it in Nigerian born players but our criticism should encourage not condemn. Look at Iheanacho for instance. Komekn was on the boy's case to the extent he downgraded his talent saying he's championship level. Thank God last season he showed what he can do even as poor he has been this season we can all see the quality. That ill-fated Ghana match if M.Simon had buried the chance KC gave him we probably won't be having to collectively chest the L of our failure to qualify for the world cup. No one can predict how any Nigerian born player will turn out if he was born in a conducive environment but it will be disingenuous to say the better environment will not give him/her a statistical better fighting chance. TheGoodJoe:
Thank you for the emotional post. I feel your pain and saw some kids in a street academy with the same pain, although a few of them broke to Europe and some Asia. They are doing fine for themselves but was not easy. However, a large chunk of them, about 90% of them did not make it. Sad because these were genuine talents.
Now we move to England, many clubs, from the Premier League to the Championship and lower leagues, offer these kids these golden opportunities. They have a working system in each club.
Look at London, where you have Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Tottenham, and it goes to clubs in the Championship like Fulham, even to the lower leagues. Teams like Barnsley.
All in one City with academies given kids opportunities to work and earn a living by following their dreams.
The gap is not the same. Anyone who thinks it is, needs to have a rethink.
Thank you again. |
Politics › Re: Tinubu Vs Osinbajo: Lagos, Ogun Likely Decided, Battle Line Drawn In Others by chrisooblog: 3:49pm On May 02, 2022 |
I read through your write up and even though I don't agree 100% with what you wrote about Tinubu I respect and understand your standpoint abit, because I feel it's driven by patriotism and a passion for Nigeria to be great. I will be lying if I say I'm a fan of Asiwaju and his politics but despite my dislike of his actions in a few instances you have to respect him for his contributions to our democracy whatever might be it's imperfections. Tinubu sacrificed money and personal safety to help ensure we came out of the military era. Ask most pro-democracy groups of that era and they will tell you of his invaluable support. Even in this our current 4th republic his doggedness and political ingenuity is the reason the opposition then was still vibrant and able to eventually defeat the then ruling PDP. Speaking to his over bearing presence in Lagos yes I detest how he has used it to allegedly enrich himself corruptly and fix family, associates in political and administrative positions. However, this same over bearing nature of his is what brought up people like Fashola, Ambode who you praised and Osinbajo who we are hoping becomes president next year. As for his administration of Lagos should it be better? definitely! but you can't dismiss his little contributions to Lagos. The success of IGR in the state good or bad was his doing. Lekki free trade zone that was his baby we can see how it's manifesting with the dangote refinery and the recently landed google fibre optic cable to mention a few. The bar beach surge in V.I. he solved with Eko atlantic. In education he started the policy of paying WAEC fees of students which is still been done till today. I'm not saying all this just because I want to defend him or promote his candidacy. I'm just saying like every human being he has his strengths and weaknesses but that will not make me overlook his faults or contributions to our country. Whether we like it or not Tibunu is a formidable politician whose support will be crucial if the dream of an Osinbajo presidency is to achieve fruition by God's grace. Eriokanmi: Don't let what Nigerialabalaba is saying pain you bro. For your info, I had received more attacks from his likes, more than anybody here on NL. I'm a descendant of Pa Jakande, the former Lagos State governor. Each time I speak against Tinubu, either they call me ipob or they say some nonsensical stuffs. They always call me edo boy which am not denying. My dad is edo, I was born in lagos and my mum is lagosian both by birth and origin..dad too was born here and lived all his life here. I'm even more of a lagosian than Tinubu their fake leader who hails from Iragbiji in osun. I dare any of them to go to Ibadan and mention tinubu in the ears of the youths, they'd receive the beating of their lives. Tinubu doesn't even have the guts to campaign in ibadan and feel welcome by their people the way he and late ajimobi nearly milked that state dry through Alpha Beta his company.
A couple of years back when I contested the origin of Tinubu here, all his nairaland urchins took swipe at me, saying he's from tinubu family in lagos and true lagosian. The day I referred them to Tinubu's Wikipedia page where he himself stated clearly that he attended his primary school in osun state, they kept quiet and I dare anyone to visit the page if in doubt. You cannot claim to be from Tinubu's family in lagos and go to osun state to attend primary school, when your parents aren't government workers who receive transfers from place to place. Hajia Habibatu mogaji who adopted him was never a civil servant at any point in time. She was a trader in lagos Island.
That said, I blame the Afeniferes for fielding Amoda Onileere AKA tinubu in 1999 instead of Omoluabi Eko, the late Funsho Williams. Lagos would have been competing with the likes of major Western cities today. Each time Tinubu's blind supporters post Lagos GDP and revenues on social media, I'd just laugh because that's not even the realities on ground. Lagos would have been far richer with massive infrastructures without Tinubu. This man had mortgaged lagos patapata porogodo. He's in Healthcare (BT)Bola Tinubu Diagnostics inside lasuth, he's also in transportation cos his son is the director of BRT, Ojota-Ikorodu axis, His daughter is the iyaloja General of lagos so he's in commerce as well. Don't forget he's also in construction cos he's owns Hitech. That's not all, he also has his hands in aviation, His company Alpha Beta where his osun brother and governor Oyetola was director, collects lagos Revenues. He's also in government cos those law makers and political appointees you see send him a fixed sum, monthly.
If you check it, those shouting his name here are beneficiaries of his greed in one way or the other...either their parents are politicians or senior civil seevants in lagos.
If not for Ambode who opened our eyes with massive infrastructures, we wouldn't have realised how rich lagos is today. This guy commissioned 45 roads in alimosho alone in one day, I was shocked. I don't want to even mention bridges and works done in other LGAs. Suddenly, Tinubu ganged up against him cos he blocked lots of loop holes and refused to give contracts to his cronies who would collect money and would never do the job. Go to the street in front of Aregbesola's House in alimosho, the contract was awarded to aregbes's wife who doesn't know Jack about construction. 3 months later, erosion washed off everything.
Under ambode, lagos declared budget surplus in decades. He just wanted to work and when they couldn't find any allegations against him, tinubu said he brought in vision scape, lol. That he's not a democrat, that he abandoned the lagos vision but same guy built the largest BRT interchange in Africa at oshodi, constructed BRT lane from oshidi to abule Egba under the jubilee bridge which he constructed and commissioned earlier than schedule. Tinubu now used Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker against him by stopping ambode's access to public funds. That's why he couldn't complete other projects which he started. While he achieved this much, he was barely 3 years in government oo. I forgot to mention over 700 brt blue buses which he ordered as seen all over lagos today yet they claimed he abandoned lagos vision, when they didn't see any allegations to level against this man. Even the visionscape wasn't his company as wrongly alleged. Tinubu can't swear by quran that he doesn't know anything about visionscape cos the owner is his son's friend.
The onus is ours to get it right next year or we allow them to keep holding sway. Pa jakande ( may he continue to rest in peace) built the largest housing estate in Africa less than 4 years in his term. Ask tinubu what has he and his team done since 1999 on housing compared to the lagos Revenues and the time they've spent so far in government. Instead they keep using lagos 4th mainland bridge to cajole us every 4 years when election is near. That lagos literail was started by Pa jakande but buhari stopped it for no reason in the 80s. The man promised completing it in 8 years then. Between 1999 and now, they're still talking lagos literail lol . He keeps buying private jets when he's not bill Gates...3 jets oo.

No since it was wind aided so it won't have counted but it would have been the second fastest. The current record is 9.77 held by a Kenyan runner. Nomyth: Is that a new African record? |

Seems Nigerian athletics might potentially have world beaters on our hands. In the women's 100m Favour Ofili ran 10.93 the 4th fastest in the year while for the men's 100m Favour Ashe ran a wind aided 9.79!
Seems we might also have a potential successor to the great Usain Bolt. American teenager Erriyon Knighton ran a world leading 19.49! the 4th fastest time ever in the 200m and he just turned 19 o! The world champs this year sure looks promising to be an exciting one. |

Chukwueze has the tools alright but his football intelligence needs a lot of work. Osimhen needs to work seriously on the weak areas of his game before he can be anywhere world class but he's on the right track. As for NFF hiring a new coach we have qualifiers in June I think so we need to get a technical crew asap so that everything will be in place before qualifiers commence. yinkeys: I hope Chukwueze critics who watch the back of the television can be quiet now.
Sometimes when people comment here I begin to wonder if we’ve watched the same players over the years.
That’s how they’d also insult Iheanacho & Troost Ekong because of minor issues. A lot of negative critics here can’t even identify really good players when they’re on the pitch.
Osimhen is close to being world class, he just needs to improve on positioning and reading the game ahead like CR7, Benzema & Vlahovic
I think Ndidi should become more courageous going forward like Kante. That’s the only tweak he needs. Accurate outside box shots.
The entire goal keeping dept should be scrapped. We need new goalies. Heard Ikeme is back in training. If it’s also possible to lure the AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, I see Nigeria winning Afcon 2023.
Why would the outgoing NFF president employ a new super eagles coach. That should have been the job of the next president in September. |

Osinbajo is also my choice, but not completely sold on the others you mentioned. Amaechi on the face of it looks component but I'm not sure he will have the temperament to deal with Nigeria's other complex issues. Tinubu very smart but too many stories around him and corruption plus his health. Obi lies too much. Moghalu untested. GeneralDae: Both have their strengths and serious weaknesses but would be better than most of the other names flying around.
Obi is a great technocrat no doubt and would know how an economy should grow, but I am not impressed by his performance in Anambra state in terms of Infrastructure. For me, infrastructure is key. Also I think Obi is not tough enough to lead a country like Nigeria. Nigeria needs someone with both the toughness of Abacha and the compassion/gentlemanliness of Osinbanjo/Obi etc.
As for Osibanjo I have no problem with him because he has same APC ideology of infrastructure first( which is also my ideology) and this is mainly why I detest the PDP. However, the APC has too many faults as well and one wonders if Osinbanjo is capable enough seeing that he is already vice president and yet can't do as much as we would have liked. Also, Osinbanjo like Obi doesn't look tough enough for a country like Nigeria.
Amaechi in this sense would have been a great option but I trust Osinbanjo's compassion and non corrupt nature more, not because he is a so called pastor but merely from my observation. However,Amaechi (like Osinbajo) would also be a man of new ideas when it comes to the infrastructure of Nigeria as a whole going forward and that is a big plus in my books.
I believe in Tinubu's abilities but I don't like the fact that he is a Godfather and seem to be definitely corrupt. He (much more like Amaechi) is your typical politician and not to be easily trusted. Also, we are not sure about his health yet and his going to London for check ups ( medical tourism) makes me doubtful. We don't want another president who prefers London Hospitals for reasons known to him or one who would easily go on medical tourism.
My list would go in this order: 1) Amaechi or Osinbanjo (a tie) 2) Kingsley Moghalu 3) Peter Obi 4) Tinubu |

hallelujah you have finally seen the light. Much as I don't rate Uhuru he's the reason you guys have anything to boast of at all. As drunk as he might be he somehow got you a chinese owned port, built a railway and helped your tech industry grow to compete with the big boys in Nigeria. A pity his economic illusions have finally unraveled. rvp2018: Unfortunately the current drunkard president Uhuru has dropped the ball - and kenya is on throes of an economic collapse. For first time in anyone memory - kenya are queuing for petrol like Nigeria. The forex(dollars) are being rationed. Inflation has risen to 8 percent. Things are starting to look and sound like Ghana...a small zoo..on the way to hopeless big Zoo of Nigeria.
Kibaki found an economy that was in recession - and quickly grew it to 7 percent - by slashing interest rates, balancing budget, reducing debt, growing revenues, and turning around the economy. Kibaki unfortunately was poor politician - slept on political front - and had to rig his re-eleciton leading to almost civil war that brought the economy down to 1.7% and many deaths & destruction. But after a coalition gov was negotiated, he again turned it around growing it by 8-10 percent before exiting. And of course delivering the 2nd kenya republic with new constitution.
Now Kenya is here- broke & choking in debt - led by a drunkard - but fortunately we have three months to right the ship in the next election. |

I've similar suspicions myself, although collaborators and fifth columnists also handed them a lot of weapons. However, like you I believe they got a lot of backing from 'unknown' (for now) hostile countries. The level and sophistication of some of their weaponry leads me to that conclusion. Just40: Boko Haram got them freely from the French and Americans terror campaign on Libya. |

The bold is the point I'm simply making as well. daveP: I will vehemently resist his talk of lack of technical ability. He says vic lacks it. We are saying he is a lil above average on that aspect, with lots to improve one wrt time. He's not even finished product, neither are many of his colleagues from that u17 tournament from other countries that participated. |

One thing that mr Komekn always refuses to acknowledge is Victor's age meaning he's far from being the finished article. Saying things like price tag as if it was Osimhen that forced Napoli to pay that amount for him. Great players like Drogba, Van Persie, Etoo, etc didn't fly out of the blocks when they were Victor's age but with time and little improvements season after season they reached their optimum. Drogba till he retired had a terrible first touch but look how he became a monster of a player. Why I'm even so insistent on backing Osimhen is the fact that I've seen him improve his game in other ways. Initially when he started out he couldn't hold up play now he does that without much stress, before you could count on one hand how many goals he scored from headers now he's becoming dominant in the air. At 23 I think he's done very well and a first hand view of his development over the past few seasons makes me optimistic we haven't seen the best of Osimhen. What even amuses me is the way Komekn creams his shorts over Dennis that has only managed double digit goals in major leagues only once in his career but Osimhen that has done it back to back 3 seasons in a row now is not worthy of celebration because of ''price tag'' plus he younger than Emmanuel oh! TheGoodJoe:
Victor has the quality to be a World Class Striker. However, it takes other factors to make it work. As for talent, he has always been a monster talent, even though for a long while you have chosen to deny the obvious.
Diego Forlan ended his career as a World Class striker. I doubt he had the touch of Zizou, the skills of Ronaldinho or Neymar, or the speed of Ronaldo De Lima. I doubt he had the intellect of Messi or the touch of Messi. I doubt he could read offensive spaces like CR7.
What Forlan did was to train his best qualities and shone in them. He learned how to read the flow of the game and found a way to get to the end of the play to finish accurately.
I read Forlan used to practice his shooting until late in the night while trying to build himself after flopping at Manchester United. In the end, he became one of the best strikers in the game.
Honestly, I watched Diego Forlan as a young player from Nigeria '99. First noticed him in the game against Brazil (note, Ronaldinho was in that game).
However, I must say, he did not show the kind of talent Oshimhen showed at an early age. So if Forlan could end up a World Class striker, Osimhen can. I just hope he lands on the right coach who will favor his attributes. He is one hell of a striker. He just needs some things to make it click. |

Welcome back GreatJoe. Bro you're not the only one thought I would be away from here till after the WC but here I am. Honestly really painful but that's life and football for you. The bold honestly! Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory smh! TheGoodJoe: I think I will call my departure from here a sabbatical and I think it was worth it. Personal apology to Stormtrooper11, you made valid point but us failing to pick the qualification ticket rocked me to my marrows. We have lost a lot but theri was something about this one. It was a ticket that looked easy to me for us to pick but it was clear case of sabotage.
I think it is something I will look past but still in shock from it. |

He's talking about the age of the Vandrezzar player Bosso invited. Looking at the face of the guy I don't blame him. Philosopher1979: I don't understand you. Vandrezzar fc is one of the few privately owned clubs in the country with innovative ideas. They are like leventis United of old. It's good the way nff is cooperating with them as they are set to change the face of Nigerian football. One of their coaches is even in one of our youth teams. This is a good development. You embrace progress when you see it |

DON'T! It will be like distributing child pornography which is absolutely and completely wrong. Chrisland and similar schools like them have been dropping the ball. For some annoying reason their first instinct is always to shield the school at the expense of the child even when they are clearly in the wrong. TheStakeHolder: Nonsense!
That girl wasn't raped. Those of us that have watched the video could see that that girl was a product of poor and immoral upbringing.
A very disgusting video. The girl was even riding a guy just to be seen as a champion in a truth or dare game.
I will post the video here if the admins won't ban me.
My only issue with the school is why they left children together both male and female unsupervised.
Parents please train your children properly. The world has gone to the dogs.

In athletics news Nigerian youngster Favour Ofili has broken the national record for the women's 200m with a blistering 21.96 sec! at her college meet. She's already run 11.00 sec in the 100m. Seems we may have a new queen of the tracks after the unceremonious exit of Okagbare. |
