THE GAFFE OF THE YEAR AWARDS IS HERE!!!
Entries for gaffe of the year have already begun from 1st January 2022 till 30th November 2022, a recap of our previous winners;

(2020)- Winner - Fulham is better than Porto
(2021): Winner- Dessers is better than Haarland and Osimhen (author-TheLoneCitizen)

We already have a 2022 contender
- 'Nwakaeme is one of Nigeria's greatest in Europe'(author- TheLoneCitizen) will he win it again this year or will we see braver challengers, we shall see grin
grin you forgot some of the runners up from previous years like

"Osimhen can only play for youth sides in championship'' ''Gnabry is not better than odoi'' ''Iheanacho will not see another club in the epl to sign for''
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 5:02pm On Mar 10, 2022
You are free to criticize the team but some of the points you are making I don't get.

Osimhen who is our top striker is in the list, Ighalo who is in form is back. Dennis is also back. Which Lookman is surplus to requirements? Didn't you see his name on the list of invited players?

People support the national team because it's our country and will always wish them the best. If we were waiting for the team to be great before we start supporting them many of us won't have been on this thread.

Nigeria fans like those of any country will always back their team no matter what. Ghana that lost to Comoros have their fans stopping wishing them well or hoping for the best? It's your prerogative not to support the SE but it's unrealistic to insist people follow your path. If people want to rate our team no matter how unrealistic it's their rate. Teams win, Teams lose that's football no need for all this angst.

Windscribe:
You hype your players sotey dem go loose to a country that has 12 of her top players unavailable due to covid-19

What of players selection? You put your top goal scorers like Onuachu and Awoniyi on standby list, why you invite players sitting on bench in Saudi Arabia second division.

You don't want Ademola lookman, you thinks he's surplus to requirements, but the same Lookman playing as winger has more goals than Kelechi Iheanacho for Leicester city this season .

The earlier you guys realize that the super eagles isn't a great team the better, our duel against big African teams In the recent years has not been impressive.

Haba what kind of world class capping is this na!

Gnabry that was part of the Bayern squad that flogged everybody senseless with goals and assists in 2020 UCL is who you're saying you can't say if he's better than Fraudson Odoi? You love to cherry pick players who will fit your narrative but will develop glaucoma when the examples of Aubameyang, Fuchs and Son come up as players who were in the Bundesliga that came and conquered the EPL.

komekn:
I would say in general money is a determinating component in getting the best players.

But it's not the only unit to measure quality but in general once again it's very indicative. There will always be mistakes and projection expectations that goes wrong. It's very normal.

Is Gnabry better than Hudson, l really don't know. However, what is very apparent players who struggle in the EPL often go to the Bundesliga and become outstanding, e.g. Sancho, Batshuayi, Ademola, Nelson, etc.

As a consequence it's difficult to say, because if you put Hudson-Odio in the Bundesliga he will do s lot better. But if you put Gnabry in the EPL I don't think he will have the same dominance he has in the Bundesliga.

What is even very clear is most players struggle to replicate the same form in the Bundesliga when they come to the EPL. This is much more pronounced with forward players. Because Rudiger is an exception although he has a lot of time to learn since he arrived in 2017.

On the other hand Timo, Havertz have been DISSAPOINTING consider that Timo is on near £300k a week.

According to to the Website World Poverty Clock India has regained her position of having the most people living in extreme poverty. If we're talking percentages then DR Congo is the world leader. Curious what our Kenyan brothers think of this since they always love using the site I mentioned as a reference point to criticise Nigeria.

Modified. Seems the projections for India has always been higher than Nigeria in past years. Whatever the case Nigerian government still has more work to do.

Haller did not fit West Ham system is different from Haller was an EPL flop. Look at Osimhen and Lukaku struggling at Napoli and Chelsea, excellent strikers but struggling in systems that do not fit their profile. Take the same Lukaku you see at Chelsea to Arsenal, City or Liverpool and watch him bang in goals like no tomorrow.

Oboabona was decent before the emergence of Balogun. Him and Omeruo formed a solid partnership before oyibo wall came.

Subzero47:
He was part of our defense as Mba was part of our midfield, is that enough reason to compare him to Balogun as far as SE is concerned?

Subzero47:
I told you you no dey watch SE, Balogun was not the key member of the famed 'oyibo' wall that served Nigeria for 5 years in a row through our best world cup qualifiers and the world cup proper to the Afcon qualifiers to a 3rd place Afcon finish with multiple man of the match awards you to compare him with Oboabona besides what is Oboabona's SE accomplishment again?

Chief he featured in 4 solid games which is enough to see what a player is all about but his performances were very average to put it mildly.

How many times did Ebuehi, Zaidu and Aribo play before we saw their qualities?

Even Sadiq Umar with less minutes played was beginning to settle but we should make excuses for Akpos.

If true true it's because of not making last afcon he's forming vex then I agree with joebie that he should gerrout.

I get where you are going with Akpos's exclusion being unfair based on current club form, but the truth is the guy (at least that I've seen so far) doesn't bring anything new that our defenders can't match. Even his fellow German Rohr bench am towards the end of his reign.

Akpos is just there if you ask me.

As for Yobo I no rate like that if we are talking strictly of performances in SE. Taribo was the last above average defender we have had in the national team.

Actually those countries were controlled by France and England. While Ethiopia declared war on Germany because they supported the Italians who decided to invade them.

If those countries weren't controlled by colonial powers no way would have been involved in European world wars.

Nope Africa was not part of it. The two Worlds Wars were fought by European powers with very limited black african involvement.

All the African conflicts don't hold a candle to the numerous and destructive conflicts fought in Europe over the past 1000 years.

No forgetting how your European ancestors exported those genocidal tendencies to North and South American wiping out nearly the whole ingenious Indian tribes through wars of conquest and disease so bruu easy on the sanctimonious morality.

Just listening to twitter space with Colin Udoh about the squad for the WcQ.

Claims some sources in the NFF told him three of the players in the squad were probably chosen without the coaches really asking for them.

Also claims "Jibola" was selected by the higher ups for the AFCON not really Equavoen.

If you followed the discussion and saw the post I was responding to I wasn't downgrading Sadiq's talent. I was disputing the premature claim that he has outperformed all our strikers in Europe this season because of the level he has operating at.

mostob:
What of Onuachu? Is he not doing it at the lower division? Is Ighalo playing in a top five league? You make it look like we have a lot of strikers in the top five league firing in all cylinder. Awoniyi has double digit this season in Burnthisleaguedown but we all saw his performance at AFCON. Onuachu is statpadding in Belgium yet he couldn't replicate that form in the national team. Make una cut Sadiq some slack...for now, I'll only pick Victor ahead of him
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 6:33pm On Mar 04, 2022
That's in a lower division bro where level of competition is very poor.

If he were doing it in La Liga you would have had a small point.

drDoom3:
Sadiq is in better form than all our strikers. 13 goals and 8 assists, that’s more goal contributions than Osimhen and Nacho combined.

Ebuehi is injured

Awoniyi and Onuachu are big misses but don't think they are ahead of KC, Victor and Ighalo. Maybe one of them could have replaced Sadiq but it's the coaches choice I guess.

List is very good in my opinion (except for Shehu & Onazi)
