I think you are misunderstanding Jay-Jay's comment.

He's not saying they shouldn't play beautiful football but have than eyes on the main goal which is qualification.

If playing ugly means we qualify so be it.

Senegal didn't play sexy football they won AFCON. Egypt served us varying levels of boko haram football they got to the final and were a hair's breadth from winning the whole damn thing.

Good but sensible football I think is what Okocha is advocating for.

TheGoodJoe:

Okocha should tell us if that was the mindset we used to play Brazil at Atlanta 96. Brazil boasted of some of the best talents in the game. The best player in the world and one of the greatest of all time was there. Ronaldo de Lima. Rivaldo who later became the best player in the world was there too. At that time Roberto Carlos was the second best player in the world. Juninho, Bebeto and some other stars were there.

Yet, we played with bravery and heart. It ended in joy for us.

Finito.

Bring receipt you come dey type official memo.

komekn:
Is it ignorance or is it delusional or even just a lack of basic understanding.

Corruption is endemic and institutionalised in our dear country. It's not about who is corrupt but who is not.

The EFFC, Nigerian Customs, to name just a few are endemically corrupt, it's not just institutionalised but long-standing generational, it's that bad.

Corruption is also accepted by most and almost IMPOSSIBLE as an individual to fight without grave consequences on you who challenges it.

NFF Coach Salisu was caught red handed and publicly disgraced and found culpable, blatant bribe taking. Some perfunctory sanctions were made against him as punitive measures. But it was more window dressing to appease public opinion somewhat.

Fast forward Salisu should have been banned and even imprisoned but he is now at the top of the pyramid in the NFF. That tells you the cultural of corruption still pervades at the highest level. I will not talk about SiaSia.

It's a reflection of just like many other government departments, agencies and or bodies in Nigeria. The NFF is no exception, it's endemically corrupt. Maybe you are blind to corruption but many here are not.

My former governor Ibori was discharged and acquitted of all charges of corruption at a Federal court in Asaba. He then pleaded guilty to very similar charges in British Court. Was convicted and given a 13 year jail sentence but served in prison for less than 7 years, returns to Nigeria, he is not arrested but literally given a red carpet state of welcome.

Ademola Lookman will watch the NFF spin a myriad of lies and untruths. If he wants to play for the SE he will say nothing because unless he want to face off with NFF and loose his place. He will keep QUITE and not in the public domain contradict the nonsense the NFF are putting out.

With regards to your request for a receipt ask Abba Kyari to produce a receipt for the thousands of $ he got from hushpuffi. And while your at it ask Ibori for a receipt for the $16 Million bribe given to the EFCC which is still in the Central Bank.

Everyone should read the book Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall. Chapter one will help you understand what's going on in Crimea. I will borrow a quote from the book. Ukraine should remember that Washington is thousands of miles away while Russia is next door. Hopefully the Ukrainian political leaders take the hint and reduce the over paddy paddy with the US.

Again you are offering emotive speculations as fact.

This is the mistake you are making you're still relying on the ''NFF is corrupt'' narrative to drive your points which are still hear say.

Are you insinuating that Lookman parted with money to have his switch confirmed? If that is your assertion you have to bring evidence not all this 'you know, you know' you keep harping on.

komekn:
First thing is do you think that the NFF can never tell LIES.

Second thing most people act with rational.

Do you really think it will take three years for Ademola to make a written confirmation signed of his consent to change of allegiance. I want you to be reason that.❓❓

Second issue, is how long does it take to get a Nigerian passport from the Nigerian high commission without any connection. I will tell you 24hrs and £750 .❓

Third issue do you think if Ademola will make public any discrepancies, incompetence or even be worse on the part of the NFF public. When after three years of waiting he has just been given clearance. ❓

After Ademola ended his U21 youth career he and the world knew he was NEVER be going to be called to the Three Lion's. Do you agree❓

Then you being s Nigerian what do you think could cause the delay. There is no Reason whatsoever for Ademola to delay. So what reason will the NFF have to cause the delay.

It's CLEARLY apparent the English FA have no interest to talk less of creating contention for his change of allegiance.

I ask again you are a Nigerian l presume and should be aware of the organisational culture that pervades all our public institutions.

What is the plausible evidence you make reference to.

I will like you to consider the term plausible particularly in the context of Nigeria.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 2:45pm On Feb 14, 2022
Chairman it's ok to admit you were mistaken about the Lookman situation nobody will flog to say you got it wrong after all no one is a repository of knowledge. All this doubling down doesn't make you look good.

Enough plausible evidence has been provided why it took so long to effect the switch of Ademola. You have sent to provide logical reasons why Lookman's switch was delayed. The only evidence you have brought is ''The NFF is corrupt'' as if that is breaking news.

You two things can be true at the same time right? The NFF while being corrupt didn't deliberately delay Ademola's switch.

I'm open minded to have my mind changed if I see credible evidence but for now I take all you have said to be speculation. Which we all know won't fly in a court of law.

komekn:
I have dealt with so many different departments state and federal level in Nigeria and unfortunately they all have varying degrees of crass ineptitude and Incompetence. Why should we think the NFF will be any different.

Although I personally think it was wilful and intended delay.

It has taken the NFF three years to put together the documentation for Ademola change of allegiance. And some here think it's the players fault.

The NFF first gave the impression the English FA was causing delays. There own reasoning just doesn't make sense.

Ademola Lookman will not say anything but just keep quite, for obvious reasons.

You make a lot of good points and yes the situation in Nigeria is very bad, but in terms of finding something to eat especially in rural areas you rarely hear of people going hungry because of sustenance farming which can give you cassava products like garri, fufu and other crops like millet, maize to mention a few. Food crisis that people speak about is mostly caused by farmers inability to farm because of banditry and boko haram.

The reason why foodstuff cost so much in the city is because we haven't figured out a cost effective way to transport and store perishables to the market before most of it goes bad.

Stormtrooper11:
undecided That's a fallacy.

Lol, so no one in the entire thread and the entire country uses those terms except Komekn? You just insinuated that Nigerians have poor vocabulary. I hope Komekn also uses German terms in his write-ups cos I'm the guy fond of doing that here.

Why? Because Nigeria is a developed country? The fact is you don't know anything about the poor peeps in the trenches. You prolly live in a city. Tell me how many Nigerians have access to good water supply? If we should go by your analogy, then Nigerians got no reason whatsoever to complain about the state of affairs.

Lol. Please, just stop tryna cover up this. Nigeria got alotta poor citizens let's stop acting like everything is going smoothly. That's a disservice to our Nigerian people. I'm surprised you're actin like a government agent. Just because you're living comfortably does not mean others are living that way.

I don't remember comparing country currencies. I compared the standards of living.

You're talking as if people just woke up and started criticizing Okoye. He has been unconvincing in front of goal for some time now it's not the AFCON that is making people complain.

Sorry not matter the angle he has no excuse not saving that ball because it was direct at him and he could see the ball meaning he had enough time to adjust to the flight of the ball. Even Maduka knows he messed up you could see in his facial expressions.

Akpeyi was not sidelined primarily because of the Mahrez goal. His shaky performances from 2017-2018 made people scared of using him. Plus Uzoho was always first choice before he got injured months to the 2019 AFCON.

Every goalkeeper makes mistakes even the great ones but at least they make enough important saves to make you forgive their initial mistake. Like I said before I'm not saying Okoye should turn to Mendy overnight he should just make the normal basic saves and that Tunisian player's shot was very saveable.

do4luv14:
you can make your examples without bringing Donu into it, And I want you to study that goal very well, from not just one angle, but from every possible angle, and tell me what you observe,

can you honestly tell me that Donu had not cost Italy a major championship, had not made one mistake that is similar /worst to that of Madukahuh

Did Italy discard himhuh

Look at Akpeyi for Example, look at his club form, then look at his national form, did he inspire confidence in his club, or he is as shaky there, as he is with SEhuh,

why sideline Akpeyi because of that Mahrez goal, huh,

Being a national team goalkeeper is not just about age but also being the best regardless of age.

Donnarumma that kept at the Euros is Okoye's age mate yet see how well he performed.

At this last AFCON our defenders tried to limit the number of times he was tested.

Nobody is saying Maduka should turn to Enyeama but make he dey make the basic saves na! is that too much to ask for?

do4luv14:
No call Mendy and Gabaski those two are old and experienced, and both had been on top flight footy for many years, especially Gabaski,

Okoye is just coming up, if that mistake is what had every every calling for his drop, being a young keeper, then let's go bring, both Ejide and Enyeama from retirement, since both can't make such mistake

no right thinking coach who has the luxury of players scattered in top leagues all over Europe will ignore them for local based players in the name of quota system as witnessed during keshi’s time with the super eagles. All was to make way for desperate home based players as a marketing tool to ship them off to obscure leagues in Europe and Asia

Keshi knew it will be difficult to coerced exposed pros in top European leagues to dump their agents and sign with his management team inorder to have a chance in the national team so he gave almost 50% slot to local based players who will do whatever he says just to make the team

All those 2 months training with local based players when you have seasoned pros in europe was just waste of tax payers money cheesy

Imagine dropping an Imoh Ezekiel who had over 15 goals in that season in the colors of one of Belgians top clubs standard liege for a Uchebo from the same league who didn’t score up to 6 goals with relegation strugglers cercle
brugge

Until then taiye Taiwo was our best left back and was doing well in the colors of dynamo kiev with ideye and lukman but they all got ignored just to make room for oshaniwa and co

Abdul ajagun was in his 1st season with Greek giants panathiniakos and performed well but was not deemed good enough for a chance in the team

Uche and martins were banging in goals for their clubs but got ignored

Aluko was doing well with hull city and arguable their best player in the championship then but he never got a chance. Even prior to the afcon triumph a year before the World Cup he was the shining light in Glasgow rangers but to keshi he wasn’t good enough and uzoenyi was better than him

Do you know eve to the submission of the World Cup list keshi and the nff had a big fight because Osaze wasn’t listed for the tournament? It took last minute intervention of top officials in the nff to add his name

My post was reiterating the fact that the England national team has yet to field a Nigerian origin talent that can be dubbed world class unlike French born players like Koulibaly, Mendy, Aubameyang, Drogba etc.

Dele Alli today wouldn't add much substantially to our team.

Who was arguing with you before that we have world class players?

Nacho crossed the ball to Umar for Umar's 1st goal..

Awoniyi's fluke goal was from a free kick cross..

Chuks goal was from a pass within the box which can also be called low cross..

S.E combined crossing , low pass, through pass , one twos e.t.c. to score all their goals..

Chief I will not completely exonerate Eguavoen from blame in that loss to Tunisia but it will be unfair to place everything solely at his feet.

They were at least 4 instances I clearly remember were we could have equalized in that game but finishing quality let us down.

Moses Simon had a free kick which he kicked over the bar plus a shot the Tunisian gk saved head on.

Ndidi hit his shot from a good position over the bar. Another day that ball goes in.

Sadiq's last gasp shot that he hit the other way out of the pitch. Better composure and quality maybe it would have saved us all this book of lamentations. All chances down to 10 men.

Thank God for Mendy yesterday if not we will be saying Coach Cisse got his tactics wrong.

Sometimes little things like your gk bailing you out is the difference between defeat and victory.

For those of us who watched who remember the 2013 AFCON in the game against Ethiopia when the scores were still 0-0 in the second half Enyeama made a point blank save if that ball had gone in who knows what would have happened.

Joezinho:
You have been singing about the SE creating 13 chances when in reality we had just 1 shot on target. How can you call 12 shots off target as creating chances? We lost bro! Nobody gets points for 'not being outplayed' or 'chances created'..
