Umar had better make good use of this very attacking and creative lineup. Onyeka and Olayinka should also get good minutes.

andrewbaba44:
According to OGN ,this is naija line up for today’s game

Uzoho

Ebuehi
Ekong
Ajayi
Collins

Ndidi
Nwakali
Iheanacho

Ejuke
Iwobi
Sadiq Umar

I must say I am happy for sadiq umar ,and hope he takes this chance

Would have loved to see onyeka and olayinka starting today

Rohr laid down good structures and ensured there were good vibes in camp. Players could hangout out with those they were comfortable with but there is general team harmony and respect within the group. I agree that tactically he wasn't great if I put it nicely.

Subzero047:
Rohr really did a lot for Nigeria forget that he is a tactical dinosaur but he laid a ground plan that any incoming coach would easily follow, I would like to call him Nigeria's John the Baptist

Game day. Will be interesting to see how most of our bench does today. Hoping for a controlled performance especially in the middle of the park.

Would be nice to continue our 100% record definitely want them to avoid defeat so confidence going into the next game won't be dented.

LET'S GO SUPER EAGLES!

Just watching the Ayew red. I can see why he was sent off. Even though he got to the ball first the follow through could have seriously injured the goalkeeper.

Dude I don't like what you are doing. Allowing facts to get in the way of sweet sweet AGENDA!

Danielnino00:
Your last paragraph is a lie..
Osimhen only got one call up while he was still struggling with Wolfsburg and that was for the game against South Africa in Uyo.. That call up had little or no impact on his career progression because it wasn't until August of 2018 that he moved to Belgium..His next call up came after his impressive season in Belgium kicked off..
There are plenty of players who have used the national team to boost their careers, but Osimhen isn't one of them..

Heard Ayew was given a harsh red. Would ordinarily feel bad for him but his arrogance and bad mouth from the last press conference kobaad him

7 games actually if you get all the way to the semis

Icon4s:
I would rather put consideration on players who are already on yellow card so as not to receive another and get suspended for the second round game. But for being burnt out? Come on these are professionals bro. The AFCON is just a maximum of 6games.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 4:49pm On Jan 17, 2022
Disagree a bit egbon. We can't avoid to play too many of our main guys and lose them to a fluke injury.

I expect Okoye, Ndidi, Ekong and Awoniyi to start. I would like to see Ejuke and Collins start on the left. They linked up well in that away WC tie against cape verde.

Iwobi and Nwakali will most probably start. Ebuehi too. Hopefully we get to see Onyeka, Onyekuru and Olayinka at some point in the match.

Simon, Senior man and Aribo should sit this one out. Need them fresh for round of 16.

Icon4s:
My opinion about that Guinea-Bissau game is not to make too many changes to the starting lineup. It is very important that we maintain consistency and win that game against Guinea Bissau. We need to continue to build that momentum and maintain that winning spirit, also for more team cohesion.

I think Eguavoen should maintain that same backline and Ndidi- Aribo Midfield Combo. One of the starting wingers may start from the bench and We may give Sadiq a starting role for him to fully prove himself. For me, not more than 3 changes to the starting line up and it should be in the advanced positions.

I can't speak for other people but on my own part I voted not just based on club achievements but also impact with the national team.

Taking both club form and national team performances into consideration holistically I think Osimhen more than merits being named player of the year.

Kudos to Onuachu he had an awesome year just think Victor was better.

*modified* For best striker I choose KC

forgiveness:
Na wa oooo. How can Osimhen win best player of the year and best attacker of the year ahead of Paul Onuachu who had 29 goals (in the league), 4 assists and 7 motm last year?

Or ahead of Kelechi Iheanacho who scored 19 goals, 8 assists and with more than 2 motms?

Was it by the 10 goals, 4 assists and 2 Motm Osimhen had last that made him win those categories or na by pure undiluted sentiment?

Because me I no understand oooo.

Good result thank God.

We didn't play champagne football but our quality stood out. Pity the penalty call put a damper on a dominant performance. Good news is there is still room for improvement..

Moses Simon clear Motm.

Happy to see Awoniyi get his goal but needs to be sharper. senior man was a bit quiet today. Ndidi and Aribo professional performance from them. Ekong better all round performance. solid display from the fullbacks too. Maduka little bit sloppy today.

I'm not Nwakali's biggest fan but let's be fair he was decent and tidy. He didn't set the world on fire with his display but at the very least he kept the possession ticking.

Umar was very poor today no sugar coating it needs to step up.

All round positive display room for improvement.

BascoVanVeli:
Nah let's leave the team for now. It would be almost wrong to single any one out after that performance. Ndidi and Joe Aribo can do all of the above. I honestly can't remember Aribo playing a long ball but I am so convinced of his baller status that I am willing to bet he is good at that also. Plus we all see Wilf sending long passes to Iheanacho at Leicester. We just need to give them our support and confidence.
Ndidi and Aribo should remain our midfield starters for now with additions here and there

TheGoodJoe:
Sadiq Umar

He sparked a discussion after the game. Did he play well or did he not?

My verdict. He was atrocious.

Why?

Tactical failure.

He was the only player that had Eguavoen barking in anger and directing his movement. Samson Siasia explained this when he worked with some home-based players in the Super Eagles camp. After briefing, training, drilling them on tactics. As soon as a scrimmage game started, they forgot everything. Siasia said, sometimes, these things take time to register. Sadiq definitely had a tactical nightmare and gave the coaching crew headache.

Take nothing away from the youngman. He showed total talent. Sweet touches. Intelligence in reading players movement but this coaching crew wants sound tactical involvement and Sadiq will face a heavy hand during lectures. If he nails it, the guy will fly in this competition.
When you critique a player it's analysis like this I appreciate. You stated how he was poor on the day yet didn't shame or downgrade the Las nice one.

I like and respect Ighalo so I won't drag him, but I'm surprised some people have developed amnesia abi was it not the same Ighalo that played 90 minutes in Kaduna against Egypt 6 years ago?

Shame won't let them boldly declare how Odion did that day, Awoniyi who on full debut forced a save out of the Egyptian goalkeeper and Umar who almost had an assist are carpenters? it is well

safarigirl:
Exactly

No be bully Awoniyi been dey bully the Egyptian defenders too? He did so much in they game, too much for someone to call him a young pretender.

The Aboubakar's first game, no be penalties he score? Did he do anything that Awoniyi did not do in our own first game minus the penalties?

And somebody wants to call Awoniyi pretender here. I no blame am, na so dem yab the boy when he replaced Isaac Success in U-17 too, he will show these people what he is made of in this tournament and shame will not allow them mention Ighalo's name again.

Is that acceptable ❓

This is the difference from playing in smaller club and league. Aina was able to take a shot from outside the box with his left foot. And he is right footed.

There is no excuse he needs to add to his skull set or he will not progress to a higher level.
Aina's shot was also off target, so you are just reinforcing forgiveness point

Cool rating but I think you were overly generous to Chukwueze a 5.0 rating would have been just about fair. Didn't have a disaster class but wasn't exactly great either.
