Lol @staying in her own lane. cheesy

You're right though about the maturity thing.
I hardly see the more mature guys yapping about submission.
I guess experience had taught them that respect (or submission as we put it) is reciprocal.

dearpreye:
My woman submits without her even knowing it. I've even stopped making a fuss out such issues. But I do know that whenever I sense what I may describe as not submitting, I may have done something amiss. That's how we've been rolling for years now.

The more a man grows and matures, the less time and attention he pays to submission issues. We've grown beyond that.

Gone are the days I'll seek out where and when to accuse her of not being submissive. The average woman stays on her lane if you stay on yours.

Take the job.
Since your husband is willing to support you, communicate with him how best you guys can arrange to start living together in the shortest time possible.
If he has to start looking for another job in the new area where you are going, that would be better. But not something to be jumped into as you need to test your new environment first to see if the worth uprooting your family for.
If you give a trial period and consider it worth it, then he can make the move to join you.

You guys will need to survive somehow and if you're not making enough to get by now that it's just both of you, how will you cater for a kid?
This might be the opportunity y'all have been waiting for.
He could even get a better paying job in the new area. You never know until you try.

Goodluck.

I used to buy some personal stuff there especially my Victoria secret since I wasn't sure of getting them anywhere else and other house hold produce.
Over here the price difference isn't much.

maybe you are correct based on other products that I'm not familiar with. Can't argue with your experience.

But by my personal experience, they didn't cheat me if I do the naira-dollar conversion.
If I go back to Nigeria now. I'll still shop there unless there's no shoprite around where I find myself at that time.

I just get tired of people badmouthing them when I don't even see what exactly they've done wrong.

Do you know your local stores that we are vouching for will charge you excess for drinks (as in Fanta and Coke and star) and still want you to return their bottle or you'll pay more than the actual drink cost for one bottle? angry
Then you'd have to buy a crate of drink for like 2,700 and deposit 2,500 for the bottles in the crate; only refundable after you've returned their bottles.

Not only are such things way cheaper in shoprite, they don't hassle you to pay for recycle materials like bottles. Because of their size, they can sell locally made goods at cheaper prices to the indigenes while our local store is trying to make all the profit to pay rent and kids school fees from one bag of rice and a carton of Indomie.

That's just one example.

coogar:
cos i see products of £1 store everywhere in shoprite. no one ever said the products aren't good but the mark-up price is ridiculous. selling products that shouldn't be more than N400 at N8,000 is a disgrace.

those asians know nigerians have a penchant for foreign products, they buy in bulk at the pound stores, ship it down to lagos & sell at 2000% profit. the value is way less than what nigerians are willing to pay.

Iyabasira stew. smiley Me likey.

Choi do I love me a man that can cook. kiss kiss kiss

One stew DH made days ago is still turning my brain even as I don chop am finish wash pot.
One kind surprise dry fish stew that I just came back and met. Nna God bless you guys o.

I'm sure this one must have a very special taste too for the Mrs. grin

I'm going to make this type of stew today.
You've inspired me.
Bollinger:
Ever wondered how mama sikira's stew on the rice you always buy in the mornings is always so unique and delicious? Why is it that every morriinng you always wanna package one on the go to the office? Abi, is she adding suntin other than condiments into the mix? Never fear, i am going to share the secret, step by step with you today. You'll thank me later. What you need; habanero pepper, one or two green pepper, those long thing red pepper, (i forget what the are called) tomatoes, iru, onions, crayfish, orisirisi meat, palm oil and eggs which are optional. Blend the pepper and tomatoes and then cook it till all the water is drained. If the mixture is right, you'll get a somewhat brownish red look. Boil the meat with as little water as possible till soft. lastly, boil the eggs. When everything is ready, add palm oil into a pot and immediately add diced onions into it. Then add the orisirisi mix into it. Once it is properly fried remove it and immediately add the cooked tomato and pepper, iru, as well as the eggs into the pot which you fried the meat in. After two minutes add the meat and let it cook at medium heat till you see the oil rising to the top. This is when you add your maggi, crayfish and whatever condiments you like. I forgot to add that it is important to roast the long thing red pepper in a skillet or frying pan before blending. It is also important to let the stew burn slightly. It gives it a roasty aroma and taste.

you are welcome. grin

How do you know this?

Shoprite is cheaper in my opinion than other super-marts in Nigeria.
Especially in food and drinks section.

And they have other good stuff too.
I don't know what people gain from slandering them like this.
Some small shops will try to even sell you expired goods just because they can't afford that loss unlike shoprite.

I know they are not indigenous but I swear by them anytime I'm in a location where I can find one.

coogar:
that's not the point.

what i was trying to say is nigerians don't get good value for the millions they spend @shoprite. 90% of the products in shoprite are from 1 pound store or 1 dollar store in the west.

why waste money on such products when they can spend a fraction of that cash in the local stores? a product that isn't more than N300 in value is about N5,000 in shoprite. nigerians need deliverance.

I have always told Nigerians to depopulate to solve the problem with caring for much population you can't feed. It is very annoying that people are not smart enough to see that. I am tired of pity and hearing of emotional stories of poverty when the resources could have been used to take care of few descent human beings who wouldn't mass produce and put pressure on the environment and resources. Jeez! What is wrong with all of you? angry angry angry angry
True.

One poverty stricken family will have eight kids and have the guts to be offended that government and people aren't taking care of their kids for them.

I don't even need to read this.

Just like and continue scrolling down. grin

babygirlfl:
The fact that a man wrote this means that there are people who talk and do things for other people. Most of us are not affected by the Nigerian society and what they think or their laws. However we know and empathise with women who suffer from these discrimination. We also would like to make a change because we do realise that the common good of everybody supersedes the common good of one man. Sometimes in life you just have to do things for other people. It is not always about you.

I keep hearing people say that people only rant on the Internet and do nothing else. My question is do you know everybody? Do you know what they do? Do you follow them home? How exactly do you know they are not doing anything? The Internet is very powerful and there is nothing wrong in using it to enlighten people. A lot of money is now spent on Internet advertising because they realise how powerful it is. Distant learning courses are even sometimes delivered through the Internet.

One reason our country remains in that state is because of this kind of selfish attitude. Most people are concerned about themselves alone. I am fine so I don't care about anyone else. In most countries, when people notice any form of discrimination or inequality, they create awareness and fight to put laws in place to correct them. In Nigeria, most people sit and accept the problem while looking for other people to join in their misery, deny its not happening or decide not to do anything because it does not affect them leaving the next generation to come and face the same problem.

If you don't want to do anything, no problem but don't stop people that want to do something. We do understand that what we represent is not for everyone .Also don't tell us how to do it right. If I did not like something or think something was bad, I would not tell the people how to do it right. I would be happy it was not being done well. I would only be bothered if I am against something and it is beginning to get a headway. We sure will get there. We might make mistakes along the way but we will correct them and get there one day.
