I'd rather my aunt who loves us become our step mom than a new strange woman. That's speaking from the point of view of a kid about to get a new step mom.

The hard part is wondering if there was something going on between them before your mom died. Hopefully there wasn't.

All things being equal and minus foul play, she's actually in the best position to take care of her sister's children than anyone else.

But speaking from a woman's point of view, anybody's ex (friend and sister or neighbor) is off the limits for me. I won't agree to marry such a man.

To the ladies here: I noticed my stew never smells like those ones they sell in all these mama put restaurants on the road;why is it so? Why can't I cook and have the same aroma with some of those women cooking by the roadside? Their stews tend to smell in a particular way that I like. I don't eat out though,so I definitely do not know if those stews would taste as good as they smell.

I put fresh curry leaves in this stew of mine and it gave it a very nice aroma.

Women need respect too. Love without respect is almost condescending. Like you'd love your pet huh
How can you even really love someone if you don't respect them?
Is that possible?

Men in addition to respect need love too.
If you don't need love, that's up to you but my man does appreciate some loving.

Conquerors were the stronger ones because all it took then to win was strength.
So invariably conquerors were men and men wrote the laws. Religious, cultural, social and otherwise.

UjSizzle:
Education. Yes, I agree education will go a long way to curbing the instances of rape we encounter every day, but this time around we have to shift the focus.

There are people who say that even though the woman shouldn't take the blame, she should be accorded some responsibility. Beautiful. The world is a bad place and it only helps to limit the odds in your favor everytime you step out of the house.

But women get the memo; it's been over stressed. You WILL get raped. Period. It's important she doesn't do anything suggestive to the opposite sex. Don't smile too much. Don't flirt too much. Don't accept a drink from a guy at the bar if you won't sleep with him. Don't enjoy or even revel in the delight of the chase (especially when it involves gifts like that's not supposed to be normal) because you WILL be raped. Everytime a woman dares to enjoy life, she's asking for it.

But women have done these things-- we've moved about with the constant fear that our right to consensual sex cam be stripped from us at anytime.
We get the memo. And it hasn't worked. There have been recorded cases of rape against women from the most moral countries in the world with respect to modesty in dressing and social activity. And there have been recorded cases against children too all over the world.

Women have changed. Laws have changed. But the education given to the male child hasn't been attacked with as much severity as the first two. Men are predators, true. They are hunters, true again. But they do not have to be sociopaths. Shift the awareness of how inhumane rape is to the men for once. Spend twice as much time as has been spent teaching women to be decent, and focus on getting the disgusting act of rape from the men.

Let the legislators enact laws that gives stringent punishment to offenders. If there's the possibility of having an executive arm of the police handle crimes of this nature (if it doesn't already exist) that will be superb.

And then the general population at large need to be sensitized. Rape happens because there are masochistic people who believe they can prey on the weakness of others. If we can stop being afraid of them, then they have nothing. What's to prey on when there's no visible weakness to exploit hmm?
Also rape victims are simply victims. They shouldn't be made to live in shame because of the nature of our society. We need a platform where men and women who have suffered sexual abuse can talk about their experience-- the fear, shame, and how they were able to get past it and integrate fully into society again.

There's so much work to be done. Where do we start? *sigh*

Couldn't have said this better texanomaly.
texanomaly:
Sex education is a must. If we, as parents, don't teach our children about sex they will learn it from other sources. Namely; friends, TV and porn. Non of these three sources are ideal. I, for one, do not wish to trust my child's friends to teach them about a subject as important to their future happiness as sex. Yes I said happiness. TV distorts what relationships are really like, and creates false expectations. Porn also creates expectations, ideals and attitudes that are counter productive to healthy relationships.

Many children begin watching porn at a very early age. This puts images and thoughts into that child's mind that their bodies and maturity level are unable to handle. These types of "entertainment" also usually show women as docile and agreeable to any and all situations and acts. They are not respected and are seldom treated well. They are simply there for the pleasure of the man. Nothing more. Is it any wonder that these children grow up thinking this same way? Men thinking anything goes and women thinking that acting this way is what "love" is about. Smh

If we want to raise health, happy and well adjusted children, education and example are the key. Children need to be taught about good and bad touches. They need to be empowered to say "no" to elders in this situation. Let's face it, we teach our children to respect and obey those older and in a position of authority. Give them the strength and the permission to go against that authority in this situation. Anyone who wishes to harm my child does not deserve respect, and that child has my permission to do and say anything necessary to protect themselves. Children also need to know that we will always take their side in this case. Many crimes are not reported because the victim is intimidated or is made to feel they are to blame.

We need to show our children at home how a husband should treat his wife, and the way a wife should treat her husband. If our children see love and respect at home they will want that same thing in their relationships. If we teach them about sex in a loving and mature way, they will know the difference when they are faced with all the images that are thrown at them daily by porn, TV and social media. They will look at the world around them with the knowledge they need to make good choices.

We've heard it said for many generations now, "Things were not like this when I was a kid." This is more true today than in any generation in the past. Kids are faced with so much more sexual pressure than ever before. They are exposed to so many more sexual images than we were. They are becoming sexually active younger and younger. Don't let them go out in the world without the "armor" and strength needed to withstand all that society and the media will hit them with these days. Until we take charge of sex education at home and in our communities, empower our child and keep our eyes on their comings and goings this situation will only get worse. The answer to this problem starts at home.

Don't mind him.

He has money to waste on law suits.
ronald4lif:
How is it possible for him not to have known what the wife would look like without a make-up? Did they court at all?

Although make-up transforms and enhances a woman's beauty thereby masquerading her natural visages I find it hard to believe that someone wouldn't be able to tell or picture what a woman would look like without enhancements. A pretty woman is pretty, and one should be able to decipher that even with make-up applied. And likewise for the not so pretty ones.

He has no case here and the woman is not liable for charges or indictment as there's no law that states women shouldn't use body enhancement and she didn't contravene any decree. The man should lick his wounds.

I have been itching to ask this question and am afraid I have to one up u here. My friend is married like me for about 15 yrs and we have been friends for about 12 yrs. husbands met through us, we r actually a group of 4 friends that turned into family friends. We are practically neighbors. As in if rice finish in her house she will take from mine. The story started like play until it snowballed into something else. And for the longest I thought her husband was a jerk until forced intervention happened. See story, found out she had never been honest about the issues they were having, I mean she was wrong. Not holding brief for d man but she was more on d wrong. Now they r heading for divorce and it has torn our close group apart. We were the closest and I chose not to take a side but it affected me cos if we did not talk in a day then that day was incomplete. I have been so sad over it, the only choice I see is for the friendship to dry up. How does one handle this other than mind your business. There r some relationships that r so intertwined their business is ur business.

No dear. We didn't stay in any of the Disney resorts. But I think going with their meal plan would be nice. Do you want to be on vacation and spend half of your time looking for where to eat especially with kids in tow? they probably have buffet service, your kids can eat all they want if they do have buffet meals. Na your money.

I like combo deals. They take stress of you. The one we got had all meals, alcohol,a Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas with their hotel and meals over there part of it, rental car to drive around town both in Florida and in the Bahamas plus entertainment.
We stayed at radisson resort in Orlando and the Grand lucayan resort in the Bahamas. Their food was good.
It's just easy. So you won't go there and start looking for where to eat or what to do for fun.
