Yes I think it was harmless.

I saw someone post a picture of her cute little relative helping her cook. Why wasn’t that an issue to folks? I personally thought it was cute. And I thought shaybe’s post was sweet. Why is hers an issue? Because it’s a light skin man? Or the fact that she’s married? I mean I don’t know but that’s the real issue with the post?

Unless people general consider light skin to better than dark skin or being married to be better than being single. That’s the only reason why that sort of post would strike someone as basis for competition. If you consider everyone to be equal and that your marital status does not make you better than anyone else (like I do) , those kinds of posts won’t offend you.

The thread says cook in your kitchen and post. If someone posts a picture of their spouse cooking in the kitchen and what they cooked, I don’t think it’s out of line.

If they post a picture of their Lamborghini, then it’s something else. grin

Also the fellow that made comment is just plain disrespectful. However we can’t all be responsible for how people choose to interpret our posts when it just highlights that the problem is with them and not the post. I’m sure he won’t say that if the dude was dark skin. So what does that say?

flyca:
Co-co, you think that was harmless? Lol. Anyway, you were not there, you did not see the said picture, you're just commenting based on sentiments.

When "Madam Trump" began her wahala sometime ago, it started with "harmless" picture of dishwahing soap. And then "clean kitchen sink" and "wash wash wash". It went on and on until we got to ...... "SHYT-H-O-L-E" drama if you remember.

From that post alone, comments like "Ashewo" (that was the comment immediately after mine l although the poster later edited it), "are you the one fucking that white boy" and the rest. See eh, the earlier we pay attention to why we are here, the better. Even the poster knows why she put up that picture, as subtle as she made it look! Lol

Abeg, let's concentrate on FOOD as much we can, no side distraction. Not your "pots and pans", not your "kitchen", not your "baby". Just FOOD!

And I'll not comment on this issue again. Thank you.

Sometimes one would feel guilty about sharing what they love because they don’t want others to feel like they are being intimidated. Which isn’t the purpose at all.

All food is delicious. Everyone posts what they can find in their area. I don’t believe anyone’s intention is to intimidate. Food is varied, it’s beautiful and there’s absolutely nothing intimidating in a food that’s different than yours.

You’re not the first person to say something like this that’s kind of why I’m responding to it. It discourages people from sharing because they think others will assume they are trying to intimidate them. Over food?

Omg

That’s what I’m talking about.
shaybebaby:
Obviously I am not the chef, my baby can be quite territorial in the kitchen.

Starter
Shell on king prawns (he coated it in a mix of lemon, olive oil and parsley before whacking in the oven for about 10mins)

Salad (easy really, just chop whatever you veg you can eat raw. In this case tomato, cucumber, a drizzle of olive oil and whatever salad dressing you like)

Salmon--seafood always works best with olive oil and lemon. The salmon was left to rest in the mix before adding a sprinkle of black pepper)

Main.

Leg of lamb, cooked over a bed of vegetables. The juices in the lamb and the flavour from the all add to the great taste of the gravy which would made from it.

Roast potato--after chopping, boil in salted water for about 10mins, just enough to soften the outside a bit. The inside is still largely uncooked.

Drain in a colander, then toss until the outside is a bit fluffy. Melt butter in baking dish by placing it in the oven, once it's melted and reasonable hot, place the potato in it.

Leave in the oven till golden(obviously you keep turning it so the colour is even-ish all round). Once cooked, you have potato's that are crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside.

Remember her primary audience is American wives.
I still think she shouldn’t generalize. I’m an American wife and that doesn’t describe me or any of my friends. However, it is true that there are unappreciative women out there. They are not the majority.

She wasn't referring to 'bad wives' apart from the example of the couple married for 35yrs.
okay

What she is saying is that often times, because women have a lot of things on their minds, they look at the 'whole picture' in a negative way. When he does A, instead of basking in the moment and enjoy A, we are still looking out for B - Z.
see? Something like this. . Maybe I’m naive for thinking most women would naturally appreciate and bask in the moment of A rather than look out for B-Z. Or maybe because I’ve seen what ingratitude does in a relationship so I appreciate everything I receive. But I don’t believe I’m in the minority. Which is the only problem I have with her post. If she knows a handful or ladies who do this, it doesn’t mean that’s the norm.

She also pointed out that we question our husband's motives of tenderness towards us.
this might be true for those who are not used to receiving tenderness from their men. If it happens often, they would know it’s part of their love life. Otherwise, I can see how the rare act of tenderness would evoke suspicion. (that doesn’t make it right) but it makes it understandable.

Upon a personal review, I really appreciate things done in the moment and always want to reciprocate
awesome

I however sometimes question his motives for appreciating me. When I do something I don't want to, appreciating me and going all lovey seems like mockery to me and gets me more irritated.
I’m sorry I don’t understand what you mean by this.

I also don't associate sex with feelings of happiness/ meeting needs. It is like food. I wouldn't reject food because I am not happy that my mom didn't buy a dress I really desired.

I eat the food, display my disappointment in not getting my dress and move on till another event of met/unmet needs.
that’s mature

Some of these things are good so we can do personal reviews.
I agree they are good. I was reading it however and I kept going “that’s not me”, “that’s not me”. So while she has great points, it doesn’t describe most women.

lol she will end up with completely dead bréast and an extremely wide borehole pússy which will simply make her husband to abandon her and look for a new one.
Every other man will continue to leave her after one round of séx for the rest of her life all she can do is join the "men are dogs" crew and cry for the rest of her life
Unfortunately for you and what you’d like to believe, that’s untrue. Having a lot of sex with different men does not make your breasts dead or widen your vagina. Do a little research man. Those things happen based on your muscle tone generally. Some women have never had more than one sexual partner and they are that way while some have had several and they are still tight, perky and firm. All persons differ.

However, have you ever heard of cosmetic surgery? Google than on too.

About the men leaving after one round of sex, you’re assuming that the woman in question wants to stick with one man aren’t you?
Family › Re: "Cheating Is Okay If Your Home Is Okay" - Nigerian Man Advises by cococandy(f): 7:20am On Jul 10, 2018
Keep telling yourself nonsense to justify your foolishness

That a woman can’t get pregnant for 10 men in the same month doesn’t mean she can’t fvck 20 men in the same month. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. What you consider a handicap is a precious 9 months of time that another human being is being produced inside another. The most amazing aspect of creation. And guess what? The woman can still have sex with anyone she wants at that time (including strange random men) and it won’t make a difference to the baby already being produced.

I’m not surprised it makes sense for you to use that as your excuse though. People who justify male infidelity and consider it a taboo for women usually have less brain matter than normal people.

lilbest4:
women and men are designed differently. A man was designed to impregnate at least 200 women in 3 months while a woman cannot be pregnant for two different men in one year.

One man can marry 1000 women and they will all give birth to the man's children within 2 years but a woman cannot give birth to 3 different men's children within the same period. Women are naturally handicapped in this situation it's not the men's fault. So, trying to rub shoulder with a man is pure stupidity

At least there’s no fuel tanker bursting into flames in the middle of the road. Neither will you be lynched to death because of a stolen phone or mistaken identity.

If living paycheck to paycheck gives them the lifestyle they want, it’s better than not having any paycheck in Nigeria or having one that can’t even afford diesel for the generator everyday because guess what? No electricity.

Nor will you have to die first or wait for your children to grow old before you can afford a simple vehicle to take you where you need to go.

Last last fine body and fine clothes could be the upgrade the person needed in order to live a more satisfactory life.

People leave for good reason. Don’t make light of it.

namet:
My brother, you'll be surprised at some of the stories of folks who traveled out, if I begin to tell you.

The point I was just making is that there are still opportunities in certain parts of Nigeria, and that going to oyinbo country (especially some third world oyinbo country) does not guarantee success.

You may get a job there, but making just enough to survive - between rent and food and bills, etc. You may even get a job, but you still can't buy a flight ticket to attend your fathers burial, because the salary is finished before you collect another one.

So, if you're just living from hand-to-mouth every month, then staying abroad for 20yrs under such condition won't change anything when you come back, just that you go wear fine cloths and your body go fine but money no go dey pocket.

All the best with your decision to stay in your fatherland!
