This is perfect. I can't imagine it said better Jahblessme: If you are being maltreated because of brideprice, pls set up standing order monthly to his account and pay off so that you can be set free. If you highlight to your parents that you will be punished after marriage because you were sold as property,i'm sure they will reject all lists and monies.
Truth is if a person is a jerk,he will keep on being a jerk.
tBillz made the mistake of just being a lay about in the marriage.Work you no wan work, stay at home dad you no sabi,it's only to eat peoples wives food and whinge that he's an expert in.So he was entirely useless and not contributing anything to the home.Stay at home Dad is not a crime,if agreed he locks down the homefront while wifey hustles since shes better at it.If he had accepted his role in the marriage would we be hearing stories that touch? You cannot be entirely hopeless, the other partner will resent it. Money isnt all that makes a home function,2 partners joining hands together forgetting gender is the answer. The outcome should be what is the best for the family in that situation, not i'm a man or i'm a woman.Do the one you can do or the one your abilities allow you to.
I believe it is when there is insecurity that you start hearing arguments of who is head of home. When you encourage your partner by your deeds and support, when you show you are sensible and you are willing to sacrifice anything for the good of your home pride included..you will inspire love, respect and loyalty without useless arguments.
Eg in a situation where the woman earns like £100,000 and the man earns £20,000 ,childcare for the kids £20,000 yearly,it's more sensible that woman goes and does the work while man arranges the home.Being stay at home parent is HARD WORK! Running after kids, meals, cleaning etc.Bloody exhausting! Both partners have free access to finances and make joint decisions the most sensible one winning out.I cannot understand why this arrangement cannot work between 2 sensible people. It's far better than lying around and moaning about being head of home.
My opinion though |

Onegai: You know, even if your wife is a stay at home mum, you the father of the child can still help her. Being a Mum is harder than most 9-5 jobs (hey your boss isn't as crazy as a baby's demands and you get a break. Mother's don't). Anyone can drive a child to the mall, pay bills and play basketball with them (the driver, their coach, my brother, the guy I'm cheating on you with etc). A father is the one who provides the things said child cannot get outside.
Guys who fight these things on NL are usually unmarried men. Do you hear the men we know whom are fathers day stuff like "I have never changed diapers, never bathe my child" they simply keep quiet when they are these threads and the single men commenting on it.
Meanwhile, I'd be afraid of using that bathtub, all that water. Nigerian babies are not buttie enough to lie obediently in one place. I thought I was the only one who noticed that . These ones when they marry will calm down too. |

So far, we are all of one school of thought: no rigid role division and we pick up things as they come up.
What about families that believe in strict role division? Yea me too. I'm sitting here waiting for someone who believes the man shouldn't pitch in with domestic work to come explain how it is fair to expect his wife to contribute financially to the home. |

That's because you're not the typical couple described by the OP. Mindfulness: Bukatyne dear,
just a quick answer today because I am cooking rice.
We don't do such silly head and neck analogies. And we don't discuss authority or play immature power games that insecure people play.
We are best friends. We are lovers. We are parents. We are partners.
We both work. We both do chores. We both do the shopping. We both take care of the child.
We both have chores we like doing and don't like doing so we do what we like and don't do what we don't like, this is where the other steps in.
And most importantly, we have a lot of fun. |

I've always thought surrogacy na womb for hire.
So in the case of a gay couple, if a woman were to donate an egg, who will carry the belle? but that's what it is is though. Womb for hire. In this case another woman (the surrogate) will carry the pregnancy. |

Congratulations! remioshy: Domestic abuse has been happening years and years ago, I prayed women will wise up and leave such relationships, I had the courage to leave an abusive relationship when I got lucky to be given another chance at living. I had been in an abusive relationship with my then boyfriend for about 2 years, he was so controlling , I was young and in love, he always beats me at every argument or provocation, I kept it to myself, I got pregnant for him in my final year at the university, heavily pregnant, he still beats me, but belts me on my legs and says you can beat a pregnant woman but only on her legs, I could not tell my mum because she didn't like him at all , I had a child for him and he still continues, I was scared to leave him cos I thot who will marry me now with a child, the last time he beat me, he was so angry he grabbed a plank and bang on my head, I woke up in hospital, his cousins took me there and they told the doctors I fell off the stairs, I realised there and then that if I don't leave him he will kill me one day, if I had died that day, his family would have covered for him, I didn't care anymore what people will say or who will marry me, I grabbed my child and left him, told him it was over and never to come near me again, I removed his name from my child and made sure he won't be able to find us. It's been 20 years now and I never regretted leaving him. Anytime I hear of such abuse I always remember him and what a lucky escape for me. Women should be courageous to walk away from a violent and abusive man or relationship. It's just not worth it, for the children and for them |

abbey621: There's always 3 sides to a story. Her side, his side and the truth! I've learned that issues of domestic violence are rarely black and white but due to the nature of men(Superior strength), we should learn to walk away. Now don't get me wrong, a slap or two would fix most women but when it comes to the point of spilling blood and head injuries, it's just not worth it! I've always said this, it's much more easier to get a divorce than to stick with a woman that gives you high blood pressure! You know you're a fool don't you? A slap or two as if you're talking about some littling who's your slave. What right do you have to slap your fellow human being? Would a slap or two fix you when you misbehave? Or you think you can't annoy your wife some day. Does she have the right to slap you to reset you? All these stupid boys who have no respect for women. |

BuddhaPalm: Haba naw. Aren't all women saints?
The woman who agreed to SELL her baby - against the draw of the strongest instinct in the universe - the maternal instinct, gets no flak. Well technically the surrogate isn't the real mom. Whoever donated the egg can't also be considered As selling her baby since it was only an egg she donated. Not a baby yet. But the OP is literally full of shitt. Like literally. Of all the excuses she could come up with, them raping the child managed to get on the list. Sigh |
