The article says that the line is supposed to join up with the Abuja kaduna line, which itself will be extended to kano. Surely a lot of imports into the country makes their way up north to kano and environs. It would also mean agricultural exports from the North can come down to warri port for export via that line.

The line was conceived for ajaokuta steel complex. If the government gets its economic policy right, this could still be a good way to decongest the lagos port and take development to warri and environs. If ajaokuta can come alive, all the better.

But for passengers, its likely going to be a no no!

Which passengers are going to riding on warri itakpe line?? I hope there is even viability for it as a commercial line.

Driving from lag to benin in a serious country shouldn't be more than 1hr 30mins. From lagos to ph should be 3hrs 30mins max with basic traffic factored in. We just dey dull ourselves on a daily basis. If not, dem for hear.

you can't say it any better. also add sanitation,lawmaco and order. you just can't compare all these with the days of fashola when there was orderliness to a very large extent. lagos is now so dirty,and traffic everywhere due to road construction. why not do these constructions in batches and create alternative routes?but rather even routes that are meant to be alternative is also under construction thereby subjecting people to unnecessary hardship daily. and no form of rehabilitation ,you go constructing roads and you abandon maintenance of the ones in existence before now.and by the time you finish the road all previous ones wouldn't be motorable. is that moving forward ?

Something that puxxles me about Nigeria is why whenever we construct a road, the heavy duty equipment usually destroys the existing adjoining roads and nothing is done about these roads!!

Also the various islands to control the swerve of traffic off the main express could have either been neatly cemented/interlocked or grassed and flowered.

I read the article again. i didn't see anywhere it was said that concrete roads are cheaper. The main argument for concrete roads is that they last much longer than asphalt/bitumen roads. How true this is I don't know, but let's assume that it is.

Therefore is a bitumen road is N10bln and lasts 10 years and a concrete road is N16bln and lasts 30 years, in terms of longer term value, you could argue that the concrete road makes more sense. but it remains to be seen. This is where we need our academics to research these things and provide findings to the public, cement manufacturers and government. But our professors are busy reading out same notes for the past 10-15 years. Absolutely no research.

Kudos for the metro line. However if the government is going to run it, then expect it to be non functional in 5 years.

Can Buhari not simply refuse the money for these projects under the guise of no money? At least asides the NASS main budget which is statutory transfer, the NASS cannot go dip it's hands into the CBN to get money for these projects.

I suspect that's what Buhari meant when he said "these projects will be difficult to implement".

Knowing the NASS though, I see them trying to lobby Buhari to drop money for these projects to the NASS directly.

While they might deserve some kudos, laying rail tracks doesn't seem to be that complicated. From one of the pictures, it looks like they are laying it one length (about 15meters) at a time, because the track has been pre frabricated on the concrete support which goes across it.

Kinda like doing interlocking roads, which is fairly quick to lay.

Hope the project ends on schedule though and is well utilized though. If FG plans to manage the whole tracks and rail service itself, we have already failed!!!

Okay, please help with cost of clearing a 2017 Toyota highlander xle with price of $30k.

What value would customs place on it and what customs percentages apply in getting your cost of clearance. Based on my search I found that 35% duty applies, then another 35% excise duty, before 5%vat.

I ask because there is conflicting info if I Google Nigeria customs calculation and I want to know the correct formulae before engaging someone so I am not boboed.

Also this doesn't look like an Xle. Based on some of the missing buttons to the left of the steering wheel, I'd say this is actually an LE.

Hello. Can you explain how exactly custom duty is calculated? Sorry if you might have done so before, but the thread is massive. I ask because shouldn't it be based on the price of the car? Ask you seem to need is the model and year. Or does customs have its own standard price sheet per model year?
