Still find it hard to believe that 1 in 20 Nigerians is hiv+. I have friends who go through sooo many women, it's kind of weird to calculate that they may have slept with hiv chicks multiple times. Though they use condom as you would expect, but still......i shudder at the thought!!

Meanwhile, while I am happy for the execution of the rail I sincerely hope that it doesn't fail. The main economic value for rail is freight movement and not really passenger travel and I'm not seeing my thing going on in this space.

The only way this can be a long term benefit is if the railway sector is deregulated. For eg, let the National Railway Infrastructure Company own and maintain the tracks while private people pay to use it and provide their locomotives. This way the govt gets return on its investment which encourages it to expand the rail network, while the private sector brings about the efficiency.

I'm not aware nigeria airways was ever sold but even if it was at least you have now you have arik you have air peace e that you can fly now. In respect to nitel it was sold and ntel is currently working and in any event you have mtn, 9mobile airtel currently working and offering better service so I don't see what your problem is and as regards power, the issue with nepa is very well known and that's because the tariff is just not cost reflective simple. the minute the tariff is cost reflective then we will see improved investment in the business

How many deep sea ports do we need for goodness sake? Akwa ibom wants to do its own, ditto rivers state and bayelsa, yet the existing warri, port Harcourt and calabar ports are grosly underutilised.

It's also of benefit to some of these companies because in many cases they might be utilising their excess capacity to construct these road. take for example dangote cement as important as cement is in this country its not a guarantee that dangote is able to sell everything that he produces so rather than keeping cement as inventory he's able to utilise that cement to do road therefore the actual incremental cost to dangote for doing these roads may not be as much as one thinks

Dangote may be the biggest but I doubt that he has the sole right to import everything or anything. To the best of my knowledge dangote is not the sole importer of cements or manufacture of cement neither is he the sole importer or manufacturer of sugar or wheat or any other things that he produces

Unfortunately in Nigeria we are usually voting not for the best brain, but the lesser of 2 evils. In our current scenario, as bad as Buhari is, he is probably the lesser of two evils. Or are you saying Atiku is better given what Obasanjo said about him?

If this same nigerisn judiciary can give Peter Odili a perpetual I junction against arrest, simply because his wife is a justice, if that doesn't smack of corruption and nepotism of the higher order, I don't know what does.

As far as I'm concerned we need tougher harsher actions against corruption and corrupt practices. the democracy were practicing currently cannot take us anywhere quickly. other countries are moving faster than we, yet we are supposed to be catching up with them. I've always said that what we need in nigeria to move forward rapidly is a benevolent dictator. A dictator who is who has an iron clad grip on power, but yet has the progress of nigeria firmly in his mindset. china singapore malaysia didn't develop to this point they are now with democracy. the truth of the matter is that nigerians are largely corrupt, largely tribalistic, largely nepotistic, largely incompetent and largely incapable of mustering the will and the courage to do the right things to get nigeria to where it ought to be.

How can a grown man and a chief justice of nigeria for that matter say he forgot to declare properties and millions of naira worth of of cash in foreign currencies? I'm half his age, I'm less important than him in public service and I know every asset that I own. people only forget these things when they want to be dodgy and funny. if it were to boast to his colleagues about how much he was worth he certainly wouldn't forget to list all of these properties and money is in his various bank account

As far as I'm concerned the judiciary is its own worst enemy. one of their members has unexplained money in his account and rather than castigating, they jump to his defence to say the president is waging a war against the judiciary. how can people who are supposed to be above board, who are judges and justices have millions of dollars in their account at they cant explain.

The judiciary are not from the moon. They live along us and are therefore just as corrupt as the rest of us. If you give your enemy the basis upon which to hound and defeat you, whose fault is that??

What NIGERIA needs is as follows, though not limited to the below:

1. Increase minimum wage to like N50k.
2. Keep the wages of those from say level 8 and above constant.
3. Reduce staff strength by about 30-40%. Unless we kid ourselves most of those who work in government are very unproductive. The savings can be used to fund minimum wage increase.
4. Deregulate petrol prices.
5. Deregulate electricity prices
6. Privatize or concession airports, railways, sea ports and key inter state expressways like Lagos- Ibadan, Sagamu - Benin, Abuja - Kaduna, Port Harcourt- Enugu.
7. Privatize refineries.
8. Sell abandoned FG properties in Lagos and other cities - Federal secretariat Ikoyi, Defence House Marina, Maman Kontagora House Marina etc
9. Let Federal universities set their fees as is commensurate to their cost. Brilliant students unable to pay should be given loans which they pay back when they start to earn income. This can be tracked with BVN, NIN. Too many people who shouldn't be in university are there.
10. Massive training of teachers nationwide to improve quality of primary and secondary university.
11. Compulsory, qualitative primary and secondary education for all children. While primary will be free, secondary will be compulsory but not free.
12. Reduce useless and unproductive federal agencies. Nigeria has agencies that add no value. All they do is pay salaries and maintain DG's, but contribute little to the country. If Channels TV, AIT etc are surviving by themselves, why do we need NTA to be funded by FG. Think how many people we are paying salaries to under NTA. if NTA cannot support itself, then it should be scrapped. Ditto FRCN

Ghanains are paying an average of 330 Naira per liter for petrol yet the price of transportation is cheaper in Ghana compared to Nigeria. Ivorians don"t say because they are one of the largest exporters of cocoa then there should be subsidies on Chocolate.i dont know where Nigerian got this idea of subsidy on petrol from.Subsidize food,health and Education but not petrol.

Totally agree!! We really love to stick our heads in the sand in Nigeria, blindly holding on to the way things were in the past!

Population of Nigeria now and 1960 na the same?

Number of children in school and university na the same?

Number of people requiring electricity na the same?

Number of appliances in a typical house na the same?

Number of mouths to feed na the same?

Pressure on roads na the same?

However, crude oil production na the same! In fact price of oil has actually come down in real terms. What $1bln would build or finance in 1960 will cost maybe $6bln today.

Not to mention we have soooo many more states now, with sooooo many more staff, wasting money on paying unnecessary salaries. Yet we want more infrastructure and everything to be paid for and the same price of yesteryear? Agreed there is corruption, but unfortunately the fact that leaders of the past have been corrupt and incompetent means we have a deeper hole to climb out of with less resources to do so?

If you wait for govt, you go wait tire. Only way is to privatise and let the market create the efficiency.
