Jonathans support is dwindling day by day, especially now that the opposition actually have useful and sensible Presidential or VP candidates. |
hbrednic:you must be nuts Why on earth should nigerian govt bail him out![]() |
Glo is crap!! All noise and no action. Now they have so overloaded their network, the whole thing has fallen to pieces. Even before the fire in Lagos, voice and data service in the South East has been terrible since late last year. Glo 1 is also another crappy project. So far, i have seen zero benefit of the cable as opposed to MTN where we can see the immediate impact of Main 1. Glo is being very economical with the truth. they are having serious technical problems!! |
But when will etisalat go 3G?? This their 2.5G is too slow for anything serious. For phone browsing, I guess it's adequate, but certainly not for desktop or laptob browsing. |

Glo's service has been shitty for months now, especially it's internet and more especially in the South East. I have had to abandon my Glo modem for MTN. Can't wait for Etisalat to roll out its 3G and provide more options. Does Airtel even have 3G? All I ever get on my phone in Ph is Edge. |
The song is silly and doesn't make any sense. The video is nice though |
Personally, I think there is something quite fishy about Pastor Chris and Christ Embassy in Nigeria. I heard some tales from a colleague of mine whose brother in law was a pastor in Christ Embassy in South Africa. According to my friend, Chris's younger brother, who is in charge of the Christ Embassy churches in SA goes round himself to collect all the money from all the parishes. Also, another colleague told of a friend of hers who was dating one of the pastors of a Christ Embassy on Woji road in Port Harcourt. According to her, on sundays, the pastor would put the tithe and offering in his boot and then both of them would drive around town to some eateries and the pastor would just go to the boot, take money and be spending. |
Before, during and after the recent voter registration excercise, INEC chairman Ataihiru Jega was all over the place telling everyone how the DDC machines and the IT equipment in Abuja would detect multiple registrations. He also went as far as saying that all those who stole DDC machines to go and register an extra '200' people in their houses were wasting their time. However, the voter registration has ended and INEC has not come out to say how many people registered more than once etc. Or is it still uploading and cross referencing the data from all its DDC machines? Ordinarily, it should be arelatively simple task. Just upload all the data from the various DDC machines unto the central server and use face recognition and fingerprint recognition software to cross reference all the data to find same faces and/or fingerprints that were registered on multiple machines and the locations of those machines, INEC, we are waiting!! |
GLo is crap right now. Everyone is complaining about their voice and internet which keeps disconnecting. |
As far as I'm concerned, MTN's plans are too complicated. Why not just reduce tarrifs simple!! I can't spare the time to be remembering which numbers i have as my four for20k/sec etc. Airtel is 20k/sec for all numbers. That works with me men!!! |
The thing is too complicated sef!! I no get time to dey cram this and that in the name of cheaper rates. Why not keep it simple like Glo and Zain. MTN is now running the risk of alienating its subscribers with these frequent changes. MTN will suffer the most if this number portability takes off. As it is they have already suffered anyway cos a lot of people have gone to get airtel sims for their second phones if they feel they must keep older mtn numbers. |
The quality of our education is extremely poor. To be honest I myself could not use a computer when i graduated, but that was in 1999 when computers and internet were fairly new on the scene. With the amount of browsing and facebooking that the youth do, I would have thought that the average graduate would be conversant with computers. After all, I have seen an accounting graduate at WYSE (studying for ICAN) that couldn't seperate a list of transactions into debit and credit. That is how bad our education is. However, INEC should still take the blame because it should have put them through some basic computer literacy test to identify thopse that could and couldn't operate the computers properly. |
Knowing Glo, this LTE thing either won't work well or will not significantly improve users browsing experience. browsing with Glo modemd since the advent of the Glo1 has not improved significantly here in Ph. On the other hand, the minute MTN signed up to Main1 cable, there were noticable improvements reported across the country. Glo seem to have ahabit of jumping the gun just for the sake of touting themselves to be ", first to, ", while MTN would rather take their time and deliver a better product/service. For me MTN offers the best 3G service currently. Period!! |
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/16154-general-election-inec-to-use-tracking-devices-for-movement-of-electoral-materials THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is exploring all possibilities to ensure that avoidable lapses in the conduct of previous elections in Nigeria do not rear their ugly heads to mar the conduct of free, fair and credible general election in April this year. To this end, the commission has concluded arrangements with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to deploy its vehicles installed with automated vehicle-tracking devices to accompany INEC’s team on distribution of electoral materials to various parts of the country. FRSC Corps Marshal and Chief Executive, Mr Osita Chidoka, speaking when he received the INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, in his office, on Thursday, said the vehicle-tracking devices would assist INEC in monitoring the distribution of electoral materials to the point of destination. This, according to him, was to forestall cases of diversion of electoral materials and other unwholesome practices. Chidoka said: “One of the things I have mentioned to the INEC chairman is that when you are ready to move the electoral materials, you can have our vehicles accompany them, so that you can say any point in time where your materials are. Because from our office they can tell you where they stop and if there is any diversion, we should be able to tell you unless they destroy our car.” Meanwhile, the commission in Osun State, on Thursday, embarked on awareness campaign on the forthcoming voter registration. The awareness campaign team was led by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Rufus Akeju. They passed through major streets in Osogbo, the state capital. The show according to the INEC REC, was aimed at creating awareness of all members of the public on the forthcoming voter registration and ensured that the exercise was hitch-free. |
According to Glo, not all phones can browse with the Always Micro bundle. I had to glo to a glo office yesterday to get it done on my phone. But by and large your access point has to be on gloflat and not glo direct. If its on glo direct it will deduct from your credit. |
passyjango:Well, depends on where u are sha! But i still don't agree with your "its no secret, " I have used both my modems in Lagos, Ibadan and Ph at different times and MTN was still better across board. The only place where I've seen Glo perform at very fast and consistent speeds is in lekki and I'm sure that's because the glo1 landing station is in Lekki. I still find it hard to believe that a Glo edge can be better than a MTN 3G!! Maybe you are browsing with your phone or the mtn signal strangth is very poor where you are. |
How on earth have you come to the conclusion that Glo Edge is faster than MTN3G!!? have you not been seeing the comments about Glo3G on this thread. Glo3G is so poor, inconsistent and unreliable that it cannot even be said to be better than MTN and Etisalat Edge!! I have both MTN and Glo modems and MTN beats Glo HANDS DOWN!!!! Glo is crap and I hope Etisalat comes out with its 3G (maybe they'll just launch with LTE too!) in a big way to give Glo a run for it's money!! |
depends on where you are and the kind of signal strength you get, but by and large MTN is the best. Fast and consistent. Airtel is the worst. Glo is also bad. Glo is inconsistent and not fast enough. With my MTN i watch you tube and film previews on yahoo movies with no bufferring. because the quality on you tube varies between 240 and 360p the size is small and i can watch 15 20 videos there with no buffering. But on yahoo movies the trailers are of 720p quality and i can watch like 3-4 with no buffering. The 5th might buffer briefly and then others may not bugffer. My Glo doesn't evben play youtube without buffering. |
MTN is really the best 3G network in Nigeria. However, I feel MTN is worried by the 3G that Etisalat might come up with, considering that Etisalat's EDGE is about the fastest. I figure MTN is worried that Etisalat's 3G will be more robust than theirs, so they are trying to push their modems out there before Etisalat's 3g becomes operations and by so doing capture a larger market share. Etisalat has its wotk cut out to capture market share. Their 3G service will have to be as good or better than MTN and they will have to offer cheaper bundles. The perfect bundle for me would be a 500Mb 1 month bundle for 1k ( i have internet at work, so i don't need huge data). 100Mb is not enough and 1.5Gb is too much. |
Story!!! The guy didn't even say how. I beg!!!!!! |
Weak and dull |
All round MTN is by far the best internet provider. |
I do not think Nigeria is ripe for state police at the moment. The Nigeria police can be reformed with the right person in charge. How hard can it be to stop police collecting money at checkpoints? If the CP of Rivers Stae Police command sets up a task force and they all dress in mufti and drive unmarked cars along Ph-Enugu expressway, and run a covert operation, they will catch all those collecting money. Simple!! reform is not that hard to do for those who want to get it done. Anyway, read my blog below for my own comments on State police. This was written sometimes last year. http://wayforwardnaija..com/2009/10/need-for-and-impossibility-of-state.html Enjoy. |
Actually, the chicken comes before the egg. After all, God created all things and he created them alive, therefore there was the chicken before the egg!! |
But people wettin the guy for talk?? Set aside all the frustration and all and let's all think logically for a moment. Despite the fact that the developed countries have 24/7 electricity, it is still a fairly complicated industry. GEJ cannot by "cracking the whip" get all the NIPP plants under construction 100% ready by tomorrow, or even next month. It just isn't possible no matter what his intentions are!! If recent reports are anything to go by, a number of the NIPP plants will begin to start their first set of turbines in the next 1-3 months. I figure that is where his optimism of "reasonable" electricity is coming from. All in all, if GEJ eventually does privatise PHCN by May/June next year, he would have taken the most decisive step of ANY past president in our history in resolving the power situation in this country. If GEJ succeeds with that privatisation, it may be after he has long gone from Aso rock that Nigerians will look back and appreciate that action. A word for the wise though, prepare for the inevitable increase in tarrifs. I am already planning for it!! What someone told me a long time ago has stuck "don't pray for prices to come down, rather paray to be able to afford things however high the prices". Now that doesn't mean that we shouldn't have a government that strives to put policies in place to reduce the cost of goods and services to the people, but the truth of the matter is that we have been underpaying for many products and services for too long, among them electricity and petroleum products. |
Zoju, blow the whistle. be your own wikileaks. Nigerians must begin to take responsibility for some of the injustice going on around them. Nigerians cry about corruption, but many of us carry about the files and documents that makes corruption possible. How many of us have made copies of these fraudulent remittances, contracts etc and sent them anonymously to the EFCC. |
Not yet, but its taking the steps to getting there, !! |
There needs to be a way to get ALL smartphones etc to be able to show Dstv mobile. Glo and Dstv can't expect everyone to by the Nokia 5330. Can't some sort of update be downloaded to a Bb or N97, Nokia 5800 etc to enable those handsets show Dstv mobile?? |
