An effort to have Texans vote on whether they want to secede from the United States is gaining the support of at least one state lawmaker.
Rep. Kyle Biedermann of Fredricksburg said he plans to file a bill that calls for a referendum on the effort to leave the U.S.
"The federal government is out of control and does not represent the values of Texans," Biedermann said in a statement. "That is why I am committing to file legislation this session that will allow a referendum to give Texans a vote for the State of Texas to reassert its status as an independent nation."
The effort has been championed by the Texas Nationalist Movement, an organization headed by Daniel Miller, who has been promoting the idea of secession for 20 years.

"Texans are tired of living under 180,000 pages of federal laws, rules, and regulations administered by 440 separate agencies and 2.5 million unelected bureaucrats," Miller said Wednesday. "If all federal laws, rules, and regulations were printed out and stacked, it would be taller than the San Jacinto Monument."
The proposed bill would join hundreds of others filed ahead of the 87th Texas Legislature, which is scheduled to convene in January.
Despite the idea, as a practical matter and matter of law, secession isn't an option in the nation.
Historical and legal precedents make it clear that Texas could not pull off a Texit - at least not legally.
"The legality of seceding is problematic," Eric McDaniel, associate professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin, said to the Texas Tribune in 2016. "The Civil War played a very big role in establishing the power of the federal government and cementing that the federal government has the final say in these issues."

Texas became an independent nation in 1836 and remained that way until its admission into the Union in 1845. Texas left the United States once before on Feb. 1, 1861, a sore point for then-Gov. Sam Houston, who refused to swear allegiance to the Confederate States of America. After the Civil War and Reconstruction of the 1860s, Texas was fully re-admitted into the Union in 1870.
Since then, there's been no shortage in another secession debate. Over the years, there have also been calls to divide Texas into five separate states.
As of Wednesday morning, Biedermann had not filed the bill, according to the Texas Legislature bill search website.

His innocence was proved through after the BBC documentary on Dontae's fight for justice. He was granted a full pardon by the governor. Dontae Sharpe had fought to prove his innocence since his 1994 arrest. He was released from prison in August 2019.

"My family's name has been cleared," he told reporters on Friday. "It's a burden off of my shoulders and my family's shoulders." The news follows a BBC documentary on the miscarriage of justice in his case. Mr Sharpe's story highlighted how it can take years to get a full pardon even after a person is exonerated and wins their freedom.

Governor Roy Cooper said in a statement announcing the pardon that he had carefully reviewed the case, and those who have been wrongly convicted like Mr Sharpe "deserve to have that injustice fully and publicly acknowledged". With the full pardon, Mr Sharpe will be able to file a request for compensation from the state. "My freedom still ain't complete as long as there are people wrongfully in prison, wrongfully convicted, and people waiting on pardons," Mr Sharpe added.

"I've been in there and know there are guys that are innocent and know that our system is corrupt and needs to be changed." Mr Sharpe is a fellow with Forward Justice, where he advocates for criminal justice reform in North Carolina. He was convicted on a first-degree murder charge over the killing of George Radcliffe. Months after the trial, a teenage eyewitness for the state recanted her testimony. It still took over two decades for Mr Sharpe to be exonerated and released from prison.

Wrote a tough exam today my attitude in the exam and in others I've written in the past got me thinking if this attitude of mine is really worth it. I find peace in it but other students simply find it annoying which I don't like. They also refuse to see things the way I see it.
Well it is about EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE and its various forms. I 'm too scared to even try indulge in any. Even to ask questions in the exam Hall. I deeply fear the punishment that follows suit if caught. Many students see it as normal and indulge in such but I don't. Even at times when I have a blank-out (i.e forget everything I have read), I just simply write the ones I can remember and submit. Then I pray to God not to fail. Yes, I v failed, in fact two courses but I rewrote them and passed all. It still didn't pressure me into indulging in any form of cheating.
I can tell you if you ask me in the exam Hall (if the examiner is not watching) but to ask you would be a problem. More reason why I don't rely on anybody, I just read, write the few ones I can and submit. I could remember vividly when a girl was asking me some questions a year ago in the exam Hall, i simply told her that I didn't know it. Actually, I didn't. One of the invigilators caught us and sent us out. I nearly cried if not that I had written few things down. The girl was just begging me to forgive her. I forgave her but the trauma still persisted. I dreaded to see the exam results but thank God I escaped with a C.
Today's own got me thinking if this my attitude was even worth it. We are writing our promotional exams and you just have to try your best not to fail a course else it would result to a spill-over. I wrote the few ones I could remember. A girl in front had answered almost all questions and was still asking me to tell her the one she didn't know. I snubbed her at first because I was actually at the front seat where invigilation was strict.
This girl kept disturbing. I was surprised that even with the few things I wrote, she wanted to copy my little work when she had written lots of stuffs down. She was even getting answers from others. I would have liked to ask others like she did, but I 'm just too scared to even try. I wouldn't want an invigilator to surcharge me or send me out. Worse still, my paper could be torn by a yeye lecturer.
At the end, I prayed to God that he should help me with the little ones I could remember to write down and I shouldn't fail. I submitted without listening to the girl. But I feel bad, I couldn't tell her or any other person due to this fear. And I can't even ask even if I wanted to. But others can't understand me not even my friends.
God help me. But Is this attitude of mine really abnormal?.

TheRareGem1: The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said the competitiveness which Nigerians display abroad is a result of the good education they acquired before travelling out of the country.

Adesina quoted Buhari as saying, “Nigerians are all over the place, very competitive. And the competitiveness starts from home, where they have acquired good education, gone into businesses, and then take all that abroad.”
The President encouraged Nigerians in Diaspora to “subject themselves to the rules and standards of the country in which they live either as working class, or doing businesses.”
He welcomed the offer by UAE to partner with Nigeria in the areas of renewable energy, agriculture, infrastructure logistics, and provision of vaccines to further control the COVID-19 pandemic.
On his own part, Minister Alnahyan said his country “thinks very highly “of President Buhari’s leadership, noting that he was striving to “build a better future for generations to come.”
He said there were lots of Nigerians in his country “who add much value,” assuring that the headwinds of the recent past in the relationship “are now behind us.”
According to him, “We want to secure, deepen and strengthen the association for the future. We have a lot in common. We may be taking small steps, but they are leading somewhere.”
On proposed investments in Nigeria, Alnahyan said it would be a win-win situation, “which would bring hope and opportunities for people in both countries. We want to come and add quality and value.”

This sector have been given ample freedom to operate at free will, religion will never make the masses financially buoyant rather it only takes money from the masses to a sole purse. A heavy tax ought to be impose on all religious sector of the country while the government strrictly regulate their activities as regards the money they amass from any of their activities and doings on a ratio of 70:30.
