mach7: Shettima is also very sound. He is an accomplished economist, who rose to the position of DGM in Zenith Bank (Regional Bank Head - covering North East division) before resigning to become Commissioner of Finance under Ali Modu Sheriff. In terms of political popularity though, El-Rufai beats him hands down being a Fulani as against Kashim who is a Kanuri. Issue with El-Rufai though is the aspect of loyalty and the perceived religious extremist baggage he carries.
Personally, Tinubu should pick Shettima. Election will be very very close, but they will still scale through. Loyalty is very important in order to have a successfully administration. Elrufai is a better choice. Too much of loyalty isn't good. There has to be a limit to everything. Elrufai will not sacrifice the greater good of the populace to loyalty. I also believe that Buhari would prefer Elrufai to Shettima as he is more likely to have the final say on who becomes Tinubu's running mate. Just as Osinbajo belongs (ed) to the Tinubu bloc in the presidency, Buhari's CPC would want to keep their bloc in the presidency as well with Elrufai. The voting power of the Northwest will also be a huge consideration, as it won't be a strategic idea to allow Kwankwaso operate in that vast political space sololy. However, I believe there are mind games going on. There may also be some big surprises to all of this. Lets not rule that out. These lists usually have three names. I am suspecting a last name that could be pushed up, and that person may just be a Christian after all. Make we just dey watch. |

alsudan: In 2019, all Christian Candidates stepped down for only Northern Muslims to contest, so there’s no moral justification for a Muslim to aspire to be President in 2023. Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed yesterday while speaking on Channels TV Yesterday.
The Agbado Thief can nominate the known Boko Haram Shettima or the Herdsmen El Rufai all he wants. But 100% of Christians and a good number of Liberal Muslims will be waiting for them. I don't know why a grown man will come to a public space and lie without any considerations, whatsoever. Do you even know the meaning of 'presidential candidate'? So, Oby Ezekwesili of the ACPN, Kingsley Moghalu of the YPP, Donald Duke of the SDP, Chris Okotie of the FDP, Fela Durotoye of the ANN, and several other christian candidates, that contested the 2019 presidential elections lied about their religious status? If you want to bring religion into this, then the best candidate for 2023 is Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. For a delicate country like Nigeria, and considering that Tinubu, though a Muslim, is married to a Christian; and they have lived together for decades. For me, there cannot be any more lessons on religious tolerance and liberalism than that. Mind you, I am a Southerner from Anambra state. I don't do religion as it makes no real meaning to me. Your religion has done more harm than good to society. You religious people lie too much. You promote division, hate and disrespect. Religion is supposed to be a lifestyle of purity, love and self-restraint. But for you guys, it is the exact opposite. The question is: which presidential candidate are you rooting for? Can you honestly put out his achievements in public office and let's juxtapose them with those of the other candidates to verify competence? No one human being is a saint. We must disabuse our minds about that. |

OreMI22: I totally appreciate your work. I especially respect this thread because it documents all Obiano's works for posterity.
It is very disheartening when some Anambra people are deceived by non-NdiAnambra to hate one of our most transformative leaders. In their mind, they think those brainwashing them are doing so just against Obaino as a political strategy against APGA, but the real agenda is to keep Anambra in its entirety down as a dysfunctional archaic state so their states would catch up. But God pass them. Many more Anambrarians are smelling the coffee and seeing the game that is truly going on.
What really got me was that the same people arguing to hell why Anambra needs poverty alleviation and does not need an airport, turning around and praising the Ebonyi airport being built by a governor has not addressed any bit of even greater shameful poverty level in Ebonyi state! You wonder what their anti-Anambra agenda was really about!
Thank you very much for this thread! Keep up the good work. Anyone who hates Obiano is not from Anambra. I am from Anambra, and I will tell you for free. Obiano performed creditably well in office. Tell them to show you a well packaged documentary of Obi's projects in Anambra, and they would start cursing... |

Is Soludo not young? Is Soludo not educated? Is Soludo not vibrant? Politics is more than all these aforementioned, people that are supporting Obi should think it well, what if he happened not to be the Messiah they all hope for? But anyway, he might definitely have a good reason for doing that. I pray such a reason to yield positively and be a welcome development. People like Obi don't do well in government. Igbos said they don't need VP any more what is good for the goose is also good for the gander , if kwankwaso think the VP is good gir the southeast, hr should have taken the VP for labour knowing fully well that his party is an ethnic party, to tell you, igbos have awaken , let the any mad dog among them take any VP and see that his madness will be cured, you can go and listen to wine's lamentation, if the last time an Igbo man was VP in 1983 , who has been ruling since then, the same buhari did that coup because he knew Ekwueme will likely take over from shagari, , it will not continue like this at least the Fulani is getting the notice that power doesn't belong to them alone, 2023 will determine the next move, at least south east politicians are getting aware and coming together, Obi have given them the courage, woke have shake them , nobody or tribe owns Nigeria, its just the lousiness and greediness of the southern political class that is messing them at least, they ate now realising that no one zone can produce the president, kwankwaso was making mouth that the not will not vote south east, who told Him that the south east will vote north, and northern votes can not produce a president, he can go and ask Buhari The usual rant! Where is the strategy? It is as simple as that. In governance, it is different ball game. The closer you are to power, the better. But if you think ranting is a strategy for you...that is okay. |

You're too pathetic, I am wondering if you are Igbo, with the thrash you wrote, so you are saying that Igbo should continue to be VP, and if you read in between kwankwaso mind, he said the North will not vote Igbo because of Biafra, what is the assurance that they will vote Igbo after the VP, I like what is happening, Peter Obi must context at least to prove a point, no zone has monopoly of power, , by 2023, igbos will know that they don't have to trust anybody for power, they will go for power, only north can not produce a president without two other zones, like wise other zones, the north only make mouth with their hyped population, when proper data is done in Nigeria you will know that they have nothing despite registering nigerien as Nigerians Continue to be VP? How? Do you the last time an Igbo man was VP? Maybe, I should remind you....it was in 1983. So, think before writing. Is anyone preventing Obi from contesting? You too can contest for all I care. Make we leave matter, election day go come las las. These things are about strategic collaboration. It has nothing to do with monopoly. You guys should stop talking off point. Kwankwaso was damn right. Just as it was difficult for Igbos to vote Buhari in the Southeast, Obi is most likely to suffer the same fate in the entire North. Disregard Kwankwaso's comments at your own peril. |

solochris: Kwankwaso will not make a good vp with this mentality, Obi should just move on ...in your dreams... Kwankwaso? VP to who exactly? Abeg, stop it. Kwankwaso and Obi are not mates. Kwankwaso is way more experienced than Obi. Go and check their performances as governors, this is besides that fact that Kwankwaso has gone ahead to be Defence Minister and Senator. And to react to what Kwankwaso said...it is nothing but a statement of fact. We, Igbos, are at the bottom most level, in terms of participation in national leadership. Why must we always fight the truth? We want people to only say what we like and that is wrong. How do you confirm the veracity of what Kwankwaso said? The last Igbo man, Aguiyi-Ironsi, that presided over Nigeria did so in 1966. The last Igbo VP, Alex Ekwueme, left office in 1983. The last Igbo President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, vacated the office in 2007. Currently, Buhari from the Northwest is President. Obasanjo from the Southwest left office as president in 2007 while Osinbajo from the same region is sitting Vice President. David Mark from the Northcentral was Senate President for 8 whole years and only left office in 2015. His brother, Bukola Saraki, assumed the same office until 2019. The current occupier of the office of Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, is from the Northeast, just as current SGF Boss Mustapha. Jonathan from the Southsouth only left the presidency in 2015. Now, seeing all of these, and reflecting back on how Ndigbo were an internal part of Nigeria's leadership between 1960 and 1966, would you honestly say that Ndigbo aren't at the bottom level of national politics? Why fight Kwankwaso for telling the truth? My brother, let me tell you the gospel truth....the shortest cut to an Igbo presidency is via the vice presidency route. We are at the very lowest point in national politics at the moment. The sooner will tell ourselves the truth, the better for us. We can't afford to fight everyone who talks in the North (the Northwest especially), particularly when the person is stating the fact. Do you know that with the current demographics, to win the presidency you need to massively win in two critical regions in Nigeria, the Southwest and Northwest. Which Igbo man alive can win convincingly in one, let alone the two regions? Even Buhari, with all his cult following in the North couldn't do it until others joined him, Tinubu in particular. Tinubu's collaboration delivered 5 states out of 6 to Buhari in 2015. Igbo youths keep talking without rationality on social media. The Presidency project is a massive one. No be governorship o. The more people read all the antagonistic, tribalistic and divisive comments, the harder it is to achieve it. They are messing things up even more. |
