It would be impractical for the FG to start a bus company. The govt instead should continue with current rail policy. State transport should be provided for by state governments. slimfit1: The government should start a transport company like in lagos, so that people won't feel too much of the effects. If they are expecting states and other companies to start you are wasting your time. Start it and privatise it later when you have fully established it properly. |

They don't 'compete'...UK, US to a lesser extent, are basically begging them to invest in their countries. E.G: Hinkley Point, I think the largest nuclear plant to be built in the UK is to be financed by a chinese company (with government help). And an indian company, TATA, handles Port Talbot steel (I think the largest steel plant). AnakinSkywalker: Who cares what Cameron says about Nigeria?
Same stereotype was used against the Japanese and Chinese.
Today they compete with the US and UK in everything including education, business and investment, science and technology and social security.
Cameron should just help us bring back our moneys and let us inject this into our nation building project. |
Romance › Re: Why Do Only Broke Men Approach Me For Marriage? by cooooooks(m): 7:38pm On May 05, 2016 |
Where are you meeting these guys. Try going to events that serious people will attend: events that deal with development, energy, sustainability...etc. You can also try dating (serious) Nigerians abroad (long distance is she tough). mizlolar: Please i need ur help. Am having challenges in area of relationship. I have the problem of ending up with men who are nothing but gold diggers. They seem good from the start but before a few months, they will turn into pests. I dont know what is responsible for this. I just need a man who ll love me on the basis of who i am not what i have. I am from a well to do family, I am the only daughter of my parents and my dad is late, I actually inherited quite a lot and initially it seemed like a blessing until I got older.
All the Guys i ve met so far re fake displaying fake love just to get hold of what is in my possession. I will give you a little insight so you can understand what I am going tru. Around 2013, my then fiance kidnapped himself and because i already knew he was too needy and then their was a lot of inconsistencies in the story so i ignored the kidnappers who were demanding for 700k ransom. The guys showed up 2 weeks later fuming without any injuries or even shedding any weight
He was ranting and saying all sorts like how wicked i was and how i abandoned him to die. I had to break it off immediately because he was beginning to sound like i was his mother and father joined together. The next relationship went quite the same way.
The guy sold my car and came up with stories of how he was robbed at onipanu by palm-grove. unfortunately for him, i had a tracker which had its own inbuilt battery, so when they disconnected the car battery thinking they have disabled the tracker, they gaffed. the car was subsequently tracked down to shagamu at a hotel managed by his cousin. these are just the few recent ones. There are many more experiences that i wouldn’t bother you with but I am tired. the worst is that some will even want to move in with me because of the comfort of my place. Its really frustrating. My mum said i should stop driving but its nearly impossible for me to get around lagos without a car.
I simply stopped using the big cars and got a Toyota matrix and i even had to drive myself so it dosnt look like i am the one attracting the wrong men and scaring away the good ones yet i haven’t been lucky.
I am not looking for a millionaire, I just want a man with a little dignity and value not the ones who will start demanding for loans or come up with stories within months of how their visa was stuck or how their mother was diabetic and needed money for blood transfusion. I have heard a lot of such stories and i am tired.
I dont know if my mum is right that i am scaring away the right ones with my lifestyle. Honestly, i dont even live flamboyantly neither do I club. I am in my early 30’s and i really need to settle down.
Plz help me with ideas on how to stop attracting gold digging shameless men. As at now, 4 guys re on my neck including head of admin in my firm but they are all my subordinates and I don’t want a scandal. Thank u.
Please advice. I don't need abuse from you guys... Thanks |

It is common for people with high enough Bachelors to be fast tracked to Ph'D. Especially if they have experience as well. As a Ph'D, you'll likely write peer-reviewed papers and this thing brings research money to the school. Team16: Please oga se.un help me push to the front thread cos I need to reply this mail today.
I have a B.Sc Industrial Chemistry ( 4.01/5), Pgd Chemical Engineering ( Distinction ).
I applied for a Canadian admission for MSc.E Chemical Engineering. Normally for your admission to be successful you need to secure a supervisor whose research interest is similar to yours. I have done that and he encouraged me to apply. I submitted my application and after going through my application with other supporting documents like letter of motivation and others, he sent me a mail this afternoon that they want to consider me PhD instead of MSc I applied for. I'm very confused right now if to accept it or not considering high standard of education abroad as I use to hear, I haven't experienced foreign education before, this is my first. Please note my ultimate goal is to obtain a PhD. Please help me push to the front thread cos I need advice from experienced Nigerians who have studied abroad. Thanks. I appreciate |

People saying this is low:
- They don't pay for housing in Police quarters
- Some commissioned officers (I don't know the level) have official cars and official mechanic.
With Nigerians spending 40% of income on housing this is not a bad deal.
My concern is the large jump from Commissioner of Police (N300 K) to AIG (N500 K). It's too steep I think. |

Your post is based on a lack of understanding. Less than 30% is spent within Nigeria, the rest is either saved or spent abroad. Even when you get some of the loot, you still spend some unnecessary money that you would otherwise not spend if there was no loot: - money on generator & fuel - money on car repairs due to pothole - money on relatively high-priced imported food & food products due to lack of local production - money on high school fees - money spent on high price of inter-state transport - money spent on health & medicine etc. kissval1388: hmmmmmm if they are looting now , that means they are heartless. yes I prefare them to loot and let the money circulate let everybody feel it rather dan fighting useless corruption DAT I have not seen the benefit and people will be suffering and complaining of bad market |

The president is still responsible because: - he appointed all the official people that shared the money. - these monies were shared during election time so to suggest that he had no clue whatsoever is disingenuous - being fooled should also be punishable for an official as high as the president. We didn't elect him to be swindled on our behalf. etc. Lawyers on the forum should put things in lawful perspective. drss: if i send u go market to buy N1000 worth of bread. u removed N500. u den bought me N500 bread telling me it cost exactly N1000, who's to be blamed hia No be u I budgeted N1000 for bread n u brought me N500 bread, there's no way u can hold me responsible for u buying me bread of N500 instead of N1000. Same analogy applies with GEJ. GEJ approved monies of arms but part of d money was diverted by those who's job is to account for every purchase approved by d president, will u hold GEJ responsible for d diversion GEJ owes nobody any explanation. let dis govt investigate service chiefs for inflation of contract n over invoicing thoroughly n stop bombarding us with noise. |

Dasuki has been saying that all disbursements had presidential approval.
That means either: - Jonathan was incompetent enough that he was swindled into signing documents by the NSA
- Jonathan was corrupt enough that he knowingly signed the documents.
Even the CBN governor & the Minister of Finance should answer because it seems they disregarded constitutional procedure because of "presidential" signature. |

5 Tips To Fight Sleep When You Need To Read. Sleep can crop up at really inappropriate times. Maybe at work, church or even during a boring lecture.
However, what if it crops up at the usual time in the night, but you are simply too busy, maybe you need to read, or finish a project, assignment or essay? How do you fight it off? Below are some tips that will be very helpful:
1.Caffeine
This should not be a daily occurrence, as caffeine is addictive and not very healthy. But in emergency, a cup of coffee without milk can be a lifesaver.
Caffeinated drinks contain chemicals that help increase your metabolism and keep you awake, long enough to complete the task at hand, or round up that pressing assignment.
2. Take a Walk Studies show that taking a 20 minute walk can boost your energy levels and decrease fatigue. Low-impact exercise seems better than higher impact exercise for fatigue levels, so you don’t have to be a power walker to see benefits. Another plus is people who exercise, tend to do better mentally, so take a short walk around and return to your task.
Listening to music while you work can help keep you awake and increase your concentration levels, experts say. Simple! Pop on some comfy headphones—nothing with speakers if you work with other people – and see what kind of music works best for your productivity. For some people it’s Bach.
For others it’s Lady Gaga. It’s a highly individual thing, and can even vary for you depending on the task at hand.
4. Eat Snacks, fizzy drinks and the like can also help you stay
awake. Large meals can make you drowsy. (Think Thanksgiving, only on a smaller scale.) Try eating smaller meals and more healthy snacks throughout the day for sustained energy. 5. Cold Water There’s nothing like a splash of cold water on your face to revive you. Don’t forget to drink liquids throughout the day. Staying hydrated can result in increased oxygen levels which boost energy and can keep your mind sharp.
Those are the 5 Things that can help you keep sleep away while you study.
Do you have other means of dealing with sleep as a Nigerian Student?
