- study plan may be unbelievable to that officer - funds insufficient for 1 full year or even the entire study period (there is case law confirming this justification) - no strong ties to Nigeria. - belief that funds are only temporary - may be a nudging to you to apply for PR directly. Have you checked your CRS score? blackmaryjane6: Hello, Please I received a refusal from IRCC. How do I tackle the reasons please. |

Flagpoling is done at the border. You can do that for many things: PGWP, SOWP, STUDY. Not specifically for SOWP. Technically, flagpoling is not from within Canada but from the USA. I've always been uneasy about this process. Remember that the decision is final. Sadly, some people have found out the harsh way. Recently, a Cameroonian lady given a deport order when she went for a PGWP flagpole. folla: @cooooooks
You can apply for a sowp from inside Canada if you're on a visit visa. That's called "flag poling". You can research more on this. |

If one has enough cash to buy a house in Canada in full, why doesn't one apply for PR though a business/investment pathway. I believe some parts of BC require $150,000; some Atlantic provinces or cities/regions require $100,000. PS: Values are 3 years old environ. lovelygirl4life: Hello all,
As someone coming to study in Canada..
Can one buy a house? Does it have any long term effect in terms of PR and Citizenship..?
Can one pay cash to buy a house? Does it have to be mortgage..

This is the best advice. You save a lot of pain by actually graduating with a good grade. One can't do that if one is working 50 hours a week...only for IRCC to deny PGWP due to overworking in the end. seunpinky: This is my opinion based on my discussions with some folks that came into as students.. 1. You should have your tuition fees for the first year. 2. You can survive (living expenses) on the income you earn while working. 3. You must be ready to hustle real hard, you will do the normal 20 hours a week job and you will also do cash jobs to get extra income. 4. Once the school is on long holiday, you will work for like 80hours a week in other to save up. The money u make during the long break would be used to pay your second year fees. 5. You won't live a luxurious life for these 2 years period. No unnecessary spending, no dates, no fancy phones on credit etc.
N:B: working cash jobs/extra hours during school session is illegal, so u must not be caught.
In summary, ensure that your first year tuition is sorted before u leave Nigeria |

I've used Air Maroc a few times. The flight itself is cool. It's the wait at the Casablanca airport that is annoying. Speaking French helps with Air Maroc. The last time I was there, before covid, we used the new terminal, not the waiting room that is like a secondary school dormitory. If you're not leaving from Lagos and not landing (final destination) in Montreal, AND you have full luggage, you may find that using Air Canada/Lufthansa is ultimately cheaper or at worse, $100-$200 more expensive. sammyfrance23: Hello everyone, I’m about to book my flight to Montreal and I can see Royal Air Maroc for about 300k plus which is quite reasonable but I want to know if this is a good flight to fly with Help!!!!! |

You can't apply for a work permit from inside Canada if you're on a visit visa. olowoba2: SOWP takes too long if applying from Nigeria. Check average processing time for work permit from Nigeria. As at this morning, it is 57 weeks. It is better to apply for a temporary visa and then when you are in Canada you apply for SOWP.

You can always apply for visit visas, which will augur well for any future applications (to Canada or US). It will be proof that you can visit and leave. Lawfulness: Thank you @skull4eva for taking your time to respond. As at the time of applying, we were all comfortable with me going first for study and my family coming later. Canada currently has a shortage of workers, hence their leeway with applications. However, the conservative party is expected to form the next government. I expect immigration to be tightened a bit. An officer could use your application for SOWP as proof that you "misrepresented" during the study permit application. Misrepresentation could lead, not only to a denial of the application in question, but to a ban for some years. I strongly suggest you do well in school and be able to apply for Express Entry with a master's or PhD. Lawfulness: Hello everyone, Trust you're all well. Please I need your advice/suggestion. I recently received my student visa and plan to travel in December. While applying for study visa, I stated in the family section of the form that I will travel alone and used my family as home. My agent told me last week that I have to wait till after Imy graduation before I can apply SOWP for my spouse and for daughter. What should I do? Thanks for the anticipated responses. |

Was she doing IELTS practice tests with real life conditions?? Are you doing the IELTS academic or general? There is a free IELTS program (series of 4 courses) on futurelearn.com or Google "Future Learn IELTS". Please take a gradual 2 to 6 months to study for the IELTS. Doing a full life practice test once to thrice a week. The aim is to be getting 6.5 minimum on the the practice tests. If after all these, she's still getting below 6, then it's nervousness. Saynoomore: Hi house.
My spouse wrote IELTS again, abut had SLWR: 8,7,7,5.5.
I need her to have at least 6 in all to qualify for Competent speaker, but she's finding it difficult. One component is always less than 6.
How else can I get additional points should I decide not to gain points from her. We don't want to keep wasting money on IELTS. I'm currently on 70 points (minus nomination) waiting for VETASSESS. I fear that in the next 7 months, I will lose 10 points to age... bringing my score to 60. It would have been nice to have that 5 points from her to remain relevant in the pool. ..even after my next birthday. Please advise! |

Please read completely, to be fair, the website is unclear: " If you change post-secondary schools, the school you plan to change to must also be a DLI. Please check the DLI list and confirm your new school is a DLI before you commit to changing schools.
You must tell us each time you change post-secondary schools. Changing the post-secondary school on your account is a free service.
You don’t need to apply to change your study permit if you are changing schools.
Post-secondary studies include:
university community college, CEGEP, institute private university, career college, academy, school or training institution and ESL/FSL and other language training" I have copy-pasted the information on the website directly. Link here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/change-schools.html#:~:text=Post%2Dsecondary%20students%20changing%20schools If you are a post-secondary student, and you switch from one DLI to another, while in Canada, you do not need a new study permit. makano: Hello Angel
You cant apply to a different school while your application is still on.
And if your application is approved and you still wanna change school, you must apply for another study permit application..
