badoh: Why are African leaders so short-sighted? The public funds wasted in building this could have been channelled to building public hospitals, schools and good roads. Most of our African leaders are good at wasting public funds on frivolous things that has no direct impact to the people. The governor that built this would think he has achieved something whereas he succeeded in wasting public funds. So the big worship centres bigger than this in western countries are waste of fund. |

Just imagine all the clinics, maternities and hospitals across Nigeria patronizing them No foreign exchange to do business, it's scarce, government and her cronies are hoarding it. Companies buy dollars from mallams at exorbitant amount, which ultimately affect their turnover, not to mention high cost of desiel to power their plant. Is it the distribution of the product, bad roads and insicurity coupled with high cost of petroleum products. The economy is on life support |

Career › Re: Is 400k Job In Nigeria Worth Staying Or Should I Japa? by coputa(m): 12:13pm On Jan 03, 2024 |
Elsucre24: I will be 31 this year. Omo the age is scaring me and I keep feeling like I’m not doing enough. I have a stable job in the private sector with a 400k monthly salary. But I still feel the impact of the economy badly. I keep asking myself, at what point will I start living the good live? I feel stock sometimes because my job is very demanding and I almost do not have time to do other things, mind you I’m in the medical field and I work Mondays to Sundays most times but occasionally I have some Sundays to myself and sometimes a day off during the week. I can’t seem to be able to start a business as a side hustle cause most of the side hustles I can think will demand my presence at least for the first few months and I don’t really have that. My girlfriend is pregnant, I really wanna keep it but she’s not ready, I’m not even sure I’m ready. The only way she can keep it is if I’m going to get married to her before the pregnancy starts showing and I’m as confused as hell cos I don’t know if I’m ready. She has always been vocal of her plans to japa. Now that brings me to the idea of Japa too. I mean, I cannot deny that fact that I’m scared of the whole japa stuff cos I don’t know what to expect. Economy doesn’t even allow you save as much as you should. Everything’s just seems very scattered.
Pls I need adult minds to advise me on what I can do. 1. Do I start a business, what kinda business can I start with at least 2M that will not require my full presence? 2. Do I start to plan my japa through the study route and just face my fears 3. Should I insist on keeping the pregnancy and hope that things start making sense? This means I have to get married tho.
Thank y’all. You have a good paying job, please forget about Japa, leave the child and marry your girlfriend. After the marriage, open a business for her On your part, put 50%of your salary monthly into foreign stocks and stable coin,do this for the first one year and watch your finances quadruple. Before two years time,I assure you that you will be rolling in millions by then you will be considering opening your own health center |

Politics › Re: State Crisis: What They Want From Me—governor Fubara Confesses by coputa(m): 2:56am On Jan 03, 2024 |
Ebvadoo: Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, has urged the people of the state not to be intimidated by the ongoing political turbulence. He asserted that his adversaries would not achieve their goals against him.
The political landscape in Rivers State has been tumultuous due to the intense conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. This strife has led to a significant division within the legislative parties, as reported by Premium Times.
In an attempt to quell the longstanding feud between the erstwhile allies, President Bola Tinubu convened a meeting and brokered a peace agreement last month.
Despite these efforts, Governor Fubara, in a brief video message posted on X (formerly Twitter), encouraged the people of the state to maintain a positive outlook amid the ongoing crisis, assuring them that a resolution would be reached.
In the video, Governor Fubara pulled out a red pen from his breast pocket and addressed the audience, declaring, "This red pen is the will. I still have it."
"The pen failed," the governor acknowledged, adding, "As long as we hold onto the Red Ball Pen, we are the winners." He emphasized that Rivers State would continue to progress as long as they held the covenant with the Red Bureau.
According to a statement by Boniface Onyedi on Facebook, Fubara attended a New Year Parish Diaconate meeting in the city of Sao Paulo in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State. This meeting place holds significance as the birthplace of Governor Fubara.
In a Christmas broadcast to the state's residents, Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to implementing the Abuja peace accord despite facing criticism, emphasizing that the accord was not a "dead end." Fubara should close his mouth in shame,he is not better than Wike. He agreed to be imposed on Rivers by his benefactor why then did he turn back and betrayed him. Fubara is never the choice of Rivers people,he should not be trusted. |

This government is a disaster waiting to explode, they have no clear cut program to alleviate the suffering of the people or for national development.
All the poverty alleviation programs are only implemented on the pages of newspapers and no one single Nigerian has benefited.
The value of the naira is on an all time low, no thanks to the fuel subsidy removal without a corresponding cussioning program.
The economy is now in complete dissaray to the extent that the government is now borrowing dollars to regugitate the system because a lot of companies has left because of lack of forex,to do business, but this is just a cosmetic solution to the problem.
The government is either confused or is deliberately doing the wrong things by deceiving Nigerians. |

Nairaland General › Re: Answer To Why People Change When They Get Abroad. by coputa(m): 3:37pm On Jan 01, 2024 |
golbe1972: Since I was a kind I've always heard this complain of people who ordinarily are known to be " good and kind hearted" amongst his/ her siblings and friends travelled out of the country and suddenly becomes this person opposite of what he/she is known to be. In reality it might be the case but people fail to put into consideration what you're going through , and because of this culture of entitlement we fail to understand that at the end of the day it is all man for himself and God for us all. It might sound mean but it is the reality . It is not that those people that travelled have changed in terms of their heart of kindness but rather the new society have so shaped them to only Cather for themselves. That is the way the economies in Europe are structured. They're not structured in such a way to be working so hard and be a good Samaritans to those who just sleep and wake up back home, and waiting for the friend or family members abroad to send money. People abroad didn't change but the society they now found themselves changed them to now see that working hard can only put food on your table not lazing around. If you're abroad and you have to go through all the hard legal means of survival and you look back home and realised some people are just waiting for you to send money , it makes you more unkind as you used to be. So I want to believe this has answered to the question " why do people change when they get abroad"? It individualistic,I remit a percentage of my income back home every month.my family is all I have |

Fix the economy and not just increasing minimum wage. This will spur inflation.
Reduce import and encourage and set up more local industries that will cater for the needs of Nigerians.
The youths should be sent to china to learn high tech skills, then come back home and replicate them here.
This actions will conserve our foreign exchange while spending less on importation. This will make our currency strong. |
