You probably don't know the whole story. The 66 books are the canonical books. I have read the other books. They don't align with the messages in the 66 books. You think Mary Magdalene could have written a book or Jesus secretly reveals things to her? It's obviously the work of another person many years later after Jesus' death. tctrills: That's the point. Let's assume you are right. Yet the bible as we know it was collected and abridged by them. The Catholics decided what got into the bible. they decided to make the new testament 27 books even though many more books were written by the apostles. So if you think they are really of the devil how come you are comfortable believing their bible. That's the point I am making. We criticize the Catholics but we somehow believe they did right with the bible. Somehow, you believe the Catholics were right in omitting so many books from the bible |

If the Roman Catholic church has held the pure doctrines of the early apostles and church, there wouldn't be need for JW today. There won't be division in Christianity too. But when they think they can just bring doctrines that are clearly against the Bible, why won't there be division? How would a sane person believed Mary as the mother of God? Kobojunkie: William Tynsdale is recorded to have done more to put scripture into the hands of common man than Martin Luther who came after him. Martin Luther, on careful examination, is instead revealed as a man who wanted some of the power and glory in the hands of the Catholic church for himself. And this can be seen from the fact that Martin Luther himself went on to condemn and even see punished others who attempted to free minds from the catholic church just as he did.
Most of the doctrines you practice today in your churches are still rooted in catholic doctrines some going back about 1700 years.
Nothing suggesting for you a new role model as it is against Jesus Christ to have those to begin with - Matthew 23 vs 1 - 4 |

Do you know Martin Luther? I respect him a lot for what he did to make the bible available for everyone. Catholicism can't be that same religion the early church practice tctrills: You are right, they did not write the bible but they decided what books should be in the bible as we know it today. Remember, there were so many books but the Catholics decided to bring some together and give us the bible as we know it now. And I would love to have this discussion with you about hell |

Who appointed you as the moderator? Lol. You can use the Bible to prove Trinity without using ideas outside it? We will see in my next post about Trinity. tctrills: Sorry bro, I don't discuss my personal religion here. I only discuss doctrines and principles. And I don't think the JW is the worst church. They have their good points. I do not want to see this forum as a place for marketing any particular church. So, my brother, you may not want to bring up your church here but if you do, you should be ready to hear from me. I would be using the bible to question your opinions. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Are Jehovah Witnesses Right About Their Belief Against Blood Transfusion? by cornelboy(op): 11:08am On Jan 21, 2022 |
tctrills: I One of your people openly called the catholic church the church of the devil. I then reminded him that the bible he uses and believes was put together by the Catholics and the devil is not capable of any good thing so If you call the Catholics to question, you also have to call their bible to question. Your brother went totally crazy because of this. i had to leave him alone for his own good. You see there's difference in composing the Bible and compiling it. The Catholic didn't write the bible. There was a time they hid the bible from the masses and they were able to spread their lies. If you don't believe in Trinity, you can't believe Mary as the mother of God. They have done more harm than good to Christianity. The first apostles and early church didn't believe in hell fire as a place of suffering after death. Paul, Peter and others didn't preach and warn people about hell. |

We were both contending that remains the fact. I said it's this but you said it's not. Abeg let's be straightforward now. Its not like i was fighting you and you cross your arm. achorladey: Good for you.
I am bringing that verse once again to your notice a verse you read and put no cognisance. Now you say its hypocritic to exempt myself. What you forgot is that you brought the law of blood in the first place. I am only reasoning along in order see the sense behind your CONTENTION. Well even doctors and scientist drink alcohol, no big deal. But if you had health issue on little drinking na to quit na. Jesus drank acoholic wine. And he knows better than anyone. tctrills: I am not criticizing. I am just saying that it's impossible to decide what is moderate for your body. There is not really a very scientific way to measure what constitutes as moderate alcohol intake. For all you know, I might be a drunk. It's not about my personal beliefs or lifestyle but the science behind drinking. |

When you say "after being in the truth" what does this mean? What truth are you talking about here?
You no fit understand bro. While growing up Trinity was a confusion to me. Didn't align with every verse of the Bible and i know say bible suppose no de contradict itself
Here you are contending and striving about the laws on blood and trying to fuse blood transfusion into what is not present in that law.
We were both contending or whatever. It's hypocritic when you exempt yourself
There is nothing like Christian organization as set up today in the Bible in the first place. Jesus words and his disciples didn't write to Christian organisations as set up today.
We have lot christian denominations anyhow sha
Matthew 24: 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ(anointed); and shall deceive many.
Many will come and tell you we are the ones Jesus ANOINTED and added that should you fail to eat the imperfect spiritual food they dish out or listen to them, you cannot walk or be on the path/road to EVERLASTING life. Ask the Governing Body of the religious organization you are bringing their doctrines to this platform. They will tell more.
Eternal life is a free gift from God, we don't work for it. But we have to know and believe in both the one only true God and Jesus Christ His son. John 17:3. We have to try our every effort to live a righteous life that pleases the Father.
Matthew 7 also dey your Bible read am. You suppose understand. Make i check am |

Kobojunkie Achorladey: As Jesus Christ told you , lust in your heart after a woman is adultery - this He clearly explained in Matthew 5 vs 27 - 28 is in no way similar to the Old Covenant definition of the word.
Fornication is not listed as a sin by Jesus Christ. Instead it is listed as the only valid reason given by which a divorce can be obtained by a one who is a follower - Matthew 19 vs 5 - 10. Make person follow me reason this guy na. |

What's adultery and fornication? Kobojunkie: 1. Wrong! Jesus Christ never said nor hinted at any of the part in bold. See, how easy it is to make up a lie? By thinking yourself clever you attempt there to add your own wisdom to what God said, thereby changing that which God decreed and making up a lie.
What He said was the lust in your heart after a woman is registered as sin. Nowhere else did Jesus Christ suggest sex as sin - None! |

See the point is if you don't drink it's all good. If someone drinks in moderation don't criticize. And if you can't control yourself, stop drinking. I don't drink alcohol myself. But i love and drink chilled palm wine moderately. tctrills: Thats why we shouldn't drink alcohol. Very dangerous to the health even when you don't get drunk. |

(Titus 3:9) But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. My dear can i ask wise questions? °The bible, does it teach different beliefs or just one Truth? °Why is there so many different beliefs today? °Which of the christian organization beliefs aligns with the Bible? °Should there be different beliefs among churches? Incase you don't know, Jehovah witnesses are christians. Rosement: Guy, I did not ask you for your personal opinion, do you expect me to be concerned about everybody's beliefs and opinions? Even children have their own personal beliefs and opinions. There is freedom of belief so you are entitled to your own beliefs and others are also entitled to their people. Just try to be responsible and understand.
If I am practicing jw's doctrine instead of my Christian doctrine, how am I a Christian? Christian doctrine is for Christians, anybody that wants to practice jw's doctrine should simply convert. It is not by force, you cannot force people to accept your belief and doctrine by criticising their doctrines. If you need converts so badly, then preach about your religion. You cannot change the Christian doctrine by criticising it, you are just wasting your time. Don't expect me to argue my doctrine with you, I don't participate in pointless arguments. (Titus 3:9) But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
