Good write up |
People should learn to settle their dispute peacefully without resorting to violence. Why terminate your life or the life of another person over a feud that could have been easily resolved? It makes no sense. |
Did you apply for a job in the said company? |
Caracta:Haba look well na |
Gasout:Let me guess...you didn't get the job right? |
favoured234:Everyone is entitled to their opinions. So I won't say more on this issue. favoured234:Let me ask you a question, and I want you to be honest with your answer. You're a lady, and your goal is to study up to Phd level. In your final year in the university, you meet your knight in shining amour who proposes marriage, would you turn him down because his goals for you isn't what you want for yourself, or would reshape your goals in order to be in line with his, (put your Msc and Phd on pending upon graduation, get married, get a good job and probably live happily ever) if the latter is the case, would you see yourself as a liar? I'm awaiting your reply. |
xfire:In chevron (I don't know for other oil firms) upon employment as a fresh graduate you'll be sent to their technical school at ogere (Ogun state) where you'll be trained for about a year or more. During this period, your salary is below 100k. xfire:You misunderstand me...I said fresh graduates, and not skilled workers. Fresh graduates with zero experience earn less than 100k in dangote group. xfire:Lol that's why I said 85%. In as much as I would agree with with you that the full package of a permanent staff in a bank is above 100k, we all know that majority of employment in banks are on contract basis. |
COCakanni:Lol |
favoured234:I disagree. Number 3 is don't give false information. Example...lying about working in various places just to boost your chances, or lying about your age, your grade...etc. Some people do this. Unfortunately your prospective employer might do a background check and if its confirmed that the information you gave them contradicts what they discovered, you'll be tagged as a liar and an untrustworthy person. Number 6. Don't give contradictory goals of interests. The example about the 3 candidates should be clear enough. In-as-much-as giving false information is dangerous as stated in number 3 above, your goals should be in line with that of the company. Number 3 and 6 don't contradict each other cos while number 3 clearly advises you to refrain from lying, number 6 advises you to reshape your goals so it would be in line with that of the company. Hope I made sense. favoured234:Lol this shows clearly that you have very little experience about job interviews. Suppose you're living in Enugu state and you applied for a job in Abuja. Your CV was submitted online and you were contacted through an e-mail from the company informing you about the aptitude test which you wrote probably in a secondary school and passed. You were notified about your interview. You arrive in Abuja a day to the interview and hook up with a friend. Don't you think it would be wise to arrive at the company's building 30 minutes before time considering the fact that. 1. You have to calm down your nerves and also observe how things are in the company? 2. Your friends place might be quite a distance from the company which you're having your interview with, so leaving home early would be your best option since you're not very familiar with the terrain in Abuja Now kindly explain to me how the reasons I gave is that an act or sign of desperation? |
I'll start by carrying everyone along, then work hard and earn my respect from him and my other subordinates...I'm sure that he will become envious of my visible achievements. And with time he'll acknowledge that fact that I'm a much better boss than he'll ever be. |
EdDave:You should have the bank in focus when responding to such question. Whatever answer you choose to give to them should be in line with the bank's goals. |
EdDave:Which of the questions...please be specific? |
favoured234:And your point is...? |
EdDave:Go back and read question 6 the best way to answer it was clearly stated there. Cheers. |
Jarus:Eyah...he must have hurt the ego of the interviewers. |
ednut1:And suppose they discover that it was all a lie, what would you do? |
qbd2:You lecturer is right...the its always advisable to mention something positive. However you can also mention weakness that aren't critical for the job, weakness you have improved on. Even though the question is about weaknesses, your answer should always be framed around positive aspects of your skills and abilities as an employee. Good luck. |
KillerBeauty:Yea most people have this "act now" "regret later attitude". I'm sure that the guy in question would regret his actions sooner or later. KillerBeauty:Happiness come when we stop complaining about the troubles we have and say thanks to God for the troubles we don't have. |
Dannidom:Two wrongs don't make a right. |
If you want to be successful in your chosen career path, you must not allow people (parents, friends...etc) influence your choice. You and only you know what you're good at. So if Computer Science is your choice, then stand by it and give it your best when you get admitted. Ch1z0:I disagree with your parents and friends opinion. Computer Science is one of the most lucrative courses in Nigeria...Its one of the few universities courses that can guarantee you employment on any field. Secondly, as a computer scientist, you can choose to be self employed, you already stated in your post that you love programming and design...you can become a programmer, a web designer, a graphics designer...etc. You don't necessarily have to get employed before you start making money on that field. Finally, you said your knowledge of mathematics is on the average. With that I'll say you're good to go cos Computer Science is 45% mathematics. With your knowledge in mathematics, you're definitely going to excel. Good luck. |
KillerBeauty:Good. KillerBeauty:According to the story, he did. Some candidates are naturally arrogant, some can't work under pressure, others have very little wisdom in handling abrasive customers. So most employers ascertain your social and temper level by asking you provoking questions during job interviews. However you choose to reply them would go a long way in telling them (your employers) whether or not you're the right candidate for that job. |
Babe2sure:Same here...I wouldn't go to a church where the pastor preaches more of giving and sowing seeds than salvation. |
Firefire:You can if you have something to show for it. Unfortunately, most of this so called representatives have nothing to show despite their many years in office, their constituency still remains an eye sore. |
xfire:Well I don't discuss salaries as well. But as for the chevron stuff, my post was specifically on the compulsory staff training meant for university leavers during which staffs in training earn less than 100k. Your jumbo pay in chevron comes after your training and not before. Unless you're a skilled worker. As for dangote, I used the mass employment of Phd holders and Msc holders whom he employed as drivers few years back as case study. None of them according to confirmed media outlets earns up to 100k. So if a Phd and Msc holder earns less than 100k in a company, what makes you feel a fresh university leaver with zero experience would earn above 100k in the same company? Finally GTbank...as a result of the high rate of unemployment today, most banks now practice labour casualization. I can tell you that 85% of employment in banks today are on contract basis. I don't need to tell you that most contract staffs in banks today earn below 50k. I rest my case ![]() |
@XtraSmooth404 So tell me...How much does dangote and GTbank pay their entry level staffs? |
xfire:Lol...what's far from the truth? Prove me wrong then. |
henchamb:Seconded |
mowah:GTbank's entry level salary isn't up to 100k let alone 200k. MTN, ETISALAT and GLO pay based on target. And even with that, their entry level salary isn't above 150k. In Chevron you undergo staff training for up to 2 years during which your income would be less than 100k. Dangote pays below 100k Where did you copy these incorrect figures from? |
Okwori12:First I would advise you to go for professional courses in your field. Secondly stop looking down on yourself or putting up self pity...even the bible says that as a man thniketh so he is...its high time you start thinking positively and outside the box...leave your comfort zone, venture out and be ready to take meaningful risk. I'm sure you'll have a testimony soon enough. Good luck. |
The Bible doesn’t condemn alcohol. The only reference made to alcohol in the Bible is do not take too much of wine, don't be filled with wine". Prophets, men of God and even Jesus himself all drank wine. And in his last moments on earth, he (Jesus) gave his disciples wine and bread and specifically instructed us to keep drinking wine in remembrance of him. But despite the fact that Jesus and his disciples were known for drinking wine, (in fact one of Jesus first miracles was the turning of water into wine) it was never recorded anywhere in the bible that he (Jesus) nor his disciples got drunk. They choose to be filled with more of the holy ghost than the wine they consumed. So you see these alcohol stuff has to do with the individual state...people detest alcohol not because the bible strongly forbids it but because they feel its not good. Tell your pastor in-law to accept the job offer. Whether or not he consumes it is up to him to decide. But in the meantime, he has a family to carter for. |
kabir2m:Let's say you're in the banking sector, and you applied for a job in the oil sector. You and I know that the banking industry pays peanuts compared to the oil sector. So in answering your question, See the example below. You're invited for an interview where you were asked the question "why do you want to leave your current employer"? You can reply as thus...XYZ (which is your current bank job) is a good bank with a good management, I've been working with them for over XZY years. However, I've always wanted to work in the oil sector because that's my field and area of specialization. I believe with the caliber of seasoned professions your company boasts of, I would be able to acquire professional skills needed to help develop me in my chosen career path. If the job you're being interviewed is in the same field as your current job. Eg telecommunications. Just look for an advantage of your prospective job over your current job and explain it to your interviewers. Example...If you're working in AIRTEL and you're being interviewed for a job in ETISALAT, just look for some advantages you feel ETISALAT has over AIRTEL and tell them. Note you didn't bad mouth your current employer neither did you give your prospective employer the impression that you're under pressure to leave your job, or you're only interested in the jumbo pay. The secrete to answering this question is to be as neutral as possible with your reply. Hope I answered your question. |

The OP stated that Shell pays the most. I can categorically tell you that Shell pays the least amongst the IOCs in Nigeria
