kobonaire:Thanks |
Who's winning? |
Olaone1:I will but you'll have to assure me that you'll be consistence in paying your tithes and offerings. |
I see flyod taking the day... |
So what's up with the bout...guys please give us updates. |
Lucasbalo:Well said. The Obj and Jonathan administration failed miserably in liberating Nigeria from the chains of power failure. The myopic combination of obj and jona failed to realize that power is the back bone of any economy. With constant power, the cost of production would drop drastically thereby creating more job opportunities as a result of the huge profits recorded by companies. With epileptic power supply, the cost of production would constantly be on the high side. Lots of factories and companies would be forced to lay of their contract staffs so they can meet up with the financial needs of the company. Nigerians rather than channel their disgust at the government prefer to divide themselves along religion and ethnicity attacking and blaming one tribe or the other. A quick view at the kind of words some people spew on Nairaland would make you weep for this country. While our leaders are drowning this country, killing every dream and ambition the youths have, we are responding their murderous attempt by insulting one tribe or the other. Expectations are high on the incoming government. I really hope they put in their best in regards to the power issue. Power is one of Nigeria's greatest problems, if the government can provide stable electricity for Nigerians, it would go a long way in restoring the image of the country as well as giving up coming entrepreneurs confidence. |
Geniusgreat:You'll find a bus going to umunya from onisha. If you can't find, then take Awka and alight at umunya they would stop you at the gate of the camp. The camp is a secondary school, the environment isn't that good it may have changed by now anyway, and remember to take enough cash with you cos there aren't any banks within the camp's vicinity. Finally, try to arrive during the day, cos the walk from the camp gate to the main camp is quite a distance. Bike men hang around the gate during the day to take you inside but if you arrive there at night, you'll have a big problem finding your way to the main camp from the gate. Safe journey. |
dokyOloye:Wao...Ebem the heart of ohafia. I wish you both happy married life in advance. And yes ohafia people are very industrious |
dokyOloye:It depends on where in ohafia you're going. A place like okon-aku would take more than 20minutes that's why I used less than an hour. |
dokyOloye:Ohafia and Edda speak the same language. Reason is because they're brothers. In fact from edda to ohafia is less than an hour drive. I don't see edda as part of Ebonyi. I group them under Abia. |
somegirl1:I haven't watched the movie so I don't know. |
somegirl1:I categorically made it clear in my post when I used the term most igbos. not all igbos. Most igbos in the sense in Anambra where I stay, an Ebonyi man would take offense if you refer to him as onye Abakiliki, I couldn't comprehend the reason why people called them such. Although I heard so many stories ranging from their dialect to how the under-developed the state is. The issue of under-development was confirmed when I noticed during my admission days that the cut-off mark for Ebonyi indigenes in the 3 federal universities in the south east is quite low compared to other south eastern states. The reason when I inquired was as a result of how under-developed the state is that's why the schools feel they should give Ebonyi indigenes a chance to acquire knowledge. The issue of dialect was confirmed when I visited a village in the state. somegirl1:True somegirl1:You can't expect me to give reason why the igbos in general view them as non-igbos. I spoke from what I've heard about them, then confirmed it after visiting the state. Any other reason why other igbos who probably haven't visited the state or schooled in the east but discriminates against them has nothing to do with my posts. My posts is based on personal experience. |

somegirl1:And your point is because you watched an Abakiliki movie and you understood the dialect. How pathetic. How many of the actors and actresses that featured in that movie are from Ebonyi state? Also try and read my posts properly before objecting. My reason was because of their dialect which I've experienced personally. You cannot compare Abakiliki (the state capital) to a local village in the state. And if you haven't been to any village in Ebonyi state, I see no reason replying you. |
somegirl1:When you said not true, I was expecting to see some reasonable objection only for me to see the term "when I saw a movie". I doubt if you've ever been to Ebonyi state before. |
SeverusSnape:They are not disliked, they're just seen as non-igbos because of their dialect. Their dialect has little or no resemblance to the general igbo dialect. If for instance an Enugu, Anambra Imo or Abia man speaks his dialect, you can still grab a thing or two from what he's saying. But if an Ebonyi man speaks his, you won't even understand a single sentence of what he's saying. And worst is most of them in the villages don't even understand the general igbo. So if you find yourself there, you'll really have a hard time communicating even though you're an igbo. (I'm talking from experience) That's why most igbos see them as non igbos. |
