Truth is most banks are beginning to realize that there's really no difference between 2.2 some 2.1 and 3rd class holders. All it takes is just a little brushing up and their personal skills would begin to manifest. Also a 3rd class degree holder wouldn't complain much when paid peanuts because he knows that his chances of getting a better offer outside is very slim compared to a 2.1 and 2.2 degree holder. I believe that the bank is just trying to capitalize on that in order to maximize its profit. |
That would depend on where in Nigeria you're based, and the kind of Job you do. In the south-west Lagos in particular, riding a bicycle to the office is quite dangerous. Reason is as a result of the heavy traffic congestion in the state. Secondly its odd...most people from that part of the country (Lagos) see bicycle riding as fun, exercise...etc. And not as a means of transportation. In states where you can drive your vehicle for hours without experiencing a single traffic congestion, (say places like the north and some villages in the south east) I believe its possible. |

When it comes to communication, as humans, most of the time, we express our thoughts and feelings non-verbally. Actions they say speak louder than words. And no, it is not another cliché. Think about this: we express anger and disapproval by frowning, we hold hands for solidarity and support, we twitch our lips and hiss to show contempt, and we fidget when we are afraid, to mention a few. Body language or non-verbal communication can be very effective if handled carefully and could be very damaging if taken with kids’ glove. Here are some body languages that could be doing you more harm than good in the work place: 1. Breaking eye contact too soon: This can make you seem untrustworthy or overly nervous. Hold eye contact a hair longer, especially during a handshake. 2. Nodding too much: Even if you agree with what’s being said, nod once and then try to remain still. 3. Crossing your arms: This makes you look defensive, especially when you’re answering questions. Try to keep your arms at your sides. 4. Holding your hands behind your back (or firmly in your pockets) makes you look stiff. Aim for a more relaxed hands-at-sides posture. 5. Looking up or looking around: This is a natural cue that you're lying or not being yourselves. Try to hold steady eye contact at all times when being spoken to. 6. Failing to smile: This can make people uncomfortable, and wonder if you really want to be there. Go for a genuine smile especially when meeting someone for the first time. 7. Stepping back when you’re asking for a decision: This conveys fear or uncertainty. Stand your ground, or even take a slight step forward with conviction. 8. Checking your phone or watch: In an important meeting or when being by your superiors portrays you as a staff with bad manners. Someone who prefers to be somewhere else than listen to them. 9. Having a delicate handshake: Cultivate a professional handshake. Look the person you are about to shake in the eye, smile, greet the person warmly and shake hands firmly. http://insidify.com/discovery/these-body-languages-are-doing-you-more-harm-than-good?utm_source=Language+To+B1&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Language+To+B1 |
elleno:Sure there is, I know people who've been lecturing in polytechnics for ages. Once you adhere to the rules of the institution, your job is safe. You may suffer tribalism as a lecturer in state owned polytechnics (if you're not an indegine of the state) but your job is safe. As for the salary, I'm not really sure, but I know that the figures differ from private to state and federal respectively. |
Batch 2015 A, kindly share with us where you were posted for your primary assignment. Is it a school, Public/private? An industry? Ministry? Tertiary institution? Do you find the place interesting or challenging? How much do they pay? Are there opportunities to make extra cash in the environment? Do you see yourself better after working there for a year? Are they providing you with an accommodation? Lets hear from you. |
ANGELMARVE:Exactly. My company my rules...if you can't abide by them, get yourself another job. |
They will be permitted to re-apply for the next recruitment exercise. |
WIZGUY69:You're wrong bro...Afikpo South has good roads courtsey of senator sonni ogbuorji |
I'm currently in Ebonyi state...I can help out with whatever it is you need before I take my leave. |
Mustay:I agree with you...not every CEO's can do so. $600,000 is enough to bankrupt a company most CEO's won't forgive any staff that carelessly looses such amount. |
I doubt if you truly love him...love should be about encouragement and not doubts. You're a Bsc holder and possess a certificate from a professional exam, what stops you from getting a job and assisting him? Yes strange as it might sound, if you sincerely love him as you claim, you should be ready to lend him your shoulder to lean on in times of need. Back to your guy, he's an Msc holder, and his family has given you a warm welcome. A gesture which most single girls hope for. I believe that if he increases his job search, he's likely going to have a positive breakthrough. Quitting your relationship for an imaginary greener pastures portrays you as a greedy and self centered person. If you want a man to respect you, you must prove your loyalty to him in times of troubles. I doubt the originality of your handle but I gave my reply anyway for the sake of those who sincerely need it. |
osemu8:Scroll up to the views, you'll notice a star beside it. That's to show that the thread has graced the home page before. Secondly its on the NYSC library so anyone who wants to access it can easily go to the NYSC library. |
MrMcJay:Lol...I can't stop lauging. |
AndreRose:I agree, we need God's intervention. At times I begin to wonder if the word greed is synonymous to Africans alone. The rate at which we despise and sell each other out is part of the reasons for the stunted growth of the African continent. We boil in anger when we see our fellow african progressing. (See what's happening in south africa today) We're the best in terms of natural resources and climatic factors, yet more than 80% of the average african man lives on $1 meal per day. God has to intervene or else we might end up crawling back to the caves our forefathers lived in as a result of our greed, mediocrity and laziness. |
AndreRose:You took the words right out of my mouth...what's wrong with we africans? |
I agree...the koran is just a duplicate of the bible, and highly confusing. I read your thread on Eve not being in the koran and how the muslims on this section struggled to defend their photocopied book, even going as far as adding eve in bracket to their koran. Truth is without the bible, there would be no koran. Educative thread. |
Nneka123:I agree with the issue of procrastination. But the issue of monday, you'll hate mondays if your job is boring to you. A job that makes you feel at home, secured and comes with a fat pay check would always make you look forward to mondays. |
Eonuegbu25:Really...which ones? |
I wouldn't advise you to quit your job until you've gotten a much better job that both the pay and environment would make you happy. You should know that quitting a job without having any back-up job or any form of business to keep body and soul together isn't a path you should tread upon. Secondly, you said you're handsomely paid. I would advise you to save as much as you can. Try to live an economical life, and use whatever you've saved to start up a back-up business should in case things go south in your current place of work. If I were in your shoes, that's what I'd do. Good luck. |
How do you know that you’re unhappy at work? That something is not right and that it’s time to either make some changes at work or move on to a new job? In my work, I talk to a lot of people who are not happy with their jobs. Here are the top ten symptoms of unhappiness at work that I’ve observed. How many apply to you? 1: You procrastinate You really, honestly try to get some work done. But somehow you never really get around to it. Or you only do it at the last possible moment and then only do a half-baked effort. Many people view procrastination as a personal weakness. To me, it’s one of the strongest warning signs of unhappiness at work. 2: You spend Sunday night worrying about Monday morning “I never sleep on Sunday night very well because I’m worried about going to work on Monday morning. My job is very stressful and you kind of have to gear up for Monday and getting back into that.” One of the worst things about being unhappy at work is that the unhappiness bleeds over into your free time. If you’ve had a lousy day at work, it’s difficult to go home and have a great evening. If your week sucked, it’s hard to have a fun, relaxed, carefree weekend. 3: You’re really competitive about salary and titles You don’t like the job itself, so you focus much more on salary. Secondly, knowing that someone in a similar position is paid more than you, or is promoted when you’re not, really eats at you. When we’re unhappy at work we get a lot more competitive, for one simple reason: When work doesn’t give us happiness and enjoyment we want to get something else out of it. And what else is there but compensation and promotions. 4: You don’t feel like helping co-workers Your colleagues may be struggling. But you don’t really feel like lending a hand. Why should you? One very interesting psychological study started by putting subjects in either a good mood or a bad mood. They were then asked to go down the hall to another room where the experiment would continue. In the hallway the real experiment took place – the subjects passed a man holding a big box struggling to open a door. Would the subject help that person? The experiment showed, that when we’re in a bad mood, we’re much less likely to help others. 5: Work days feel so looooong The first thing you do in the morning, is calculate the number of hours until you can go home. Ironically, this makes the work day feel even longer. 6: You have no friends at work Friends at work? They’re mostly all jerks anyway. Gallup have found in their studies of workplace engagement, that one of the strongest factors that predict happiness at work is having at least one close friend at work. 7: You don’t care. About anything. Things can go well or they can go badly for your workplace. Either way, you don’t really give a damn. When you’re unhappy, you care mostly about yourself and not so much about the workplace. 8: Small things bug you Small things gets you out of all proportion. Like someone taking up too much space in the parking lot, someone making use of your phone charger without telling you, someone leaving bottle water on your desk, fellow colleagues talking loudly about an issue that means nothing to you. When you’re unhappy you have much thinner skin and a shorter fuse. It takes a lot less to annoy you. 9: You’re suspicious of other people’s motives No matter what people do, your fist thought is “what are they up to?” Good or bad, big or small, all decisions and actions made by your co-workers and managers are seen in this light. Studies show that we’re also more suspicious of others when we’re unhappy. 10: symptoms You suffer from insomnia, headaches, low energy, muscle tension and/or other physical symptoms. Studies show that when you’re unhappy at work you’re more prone to experience these physical stress symptoms. Why doesn't mama peace accompany him in most of his public outings these days? Yes he lost, but if she's a good wife as she claims, she should be behind her husband giving him support and encouragement. Not making him look like a widower in public. ![]() |
Its quite simple. God told them they would win, but the strategy on how to achieve that victory had to come from them. Its just like a student who goes to his pastor to inquire from God whether or not he would excel in his exams, then receives a heart-refreshing news that his success has been decreed in heaven. If that student doesn't read his books, believe me he'll fail woefully despite the fact that a prophesy was made earlier that he would pass. God wouldn't read your book for you, but he can give you a retentive memory so you wouldn't forget what you've read. If you read Verse 32 of judges 18, you'll notice that the Israelites came up with a strategy on how to achieve victory. God then blessed that strategy and made their victory a reality. Therefore its safe to conclude that the 2 times they marched into battle, they went there without a plan, they were like the guy who went into an exam hall without studying simply because God told him he would excel. That was why they lost. |

PDPmamapiss:You're absolutely right. From what I read here, it was a bout between skill and aggression. Mayweather possessed the skill, manny had the aggression. At the end of the day skill prevailed. I'm looking forward to watching the replay of the bout later in the day. In the meantime mayweather just became the richest sports man in less than 2hours. ![]() |
Bifwoli:Exactly what I thought. America will always support americans. Remember NOI when she went head-to-head aganist an American in order to become the World bank president? Anyway I still wanted mayweather to win, so I'm quite happy he won. |
Congrats mayweather...I knew he'd win, it would be shameful for him (an American) to fall to a foreigner on home soil. |
Ekaka1:They have too...mayweather is an American just like them. |
