Most of our leaders are not educatedribadu included. |
Even without your rich contacts?sweet boss: 1st i'm not sure exactly what you're refering to 2nd to be connected to good contacts you must be involved to a certain level. you can not win lottery ticket without being involved. finally, again, sky is the limit at home if you play your game well. i've also noticed that most ribadu's supporters are far from home; no wonder! you can not learn how to play soccer by just watching tv. you've got to come on down and get dirty. no place like home. |
sweet-heart, boss: you must find a way to go back home for few weeks. things are not the same anymore. there are tons of new developments (both short and long term) from every angle, starting from lagos to ph. you think you're doing ok in uk, but i can assure you that you're not (i've been there many times and i've seen what you guys call "doing well" . please, go home and check things out. with your background and bright state of mind, i think you can contribute in a big way. and i can also assure you that you'll do much better. |
the problem here is: it is a back room agreement, obasojo will not/ can not be probed or prosecuted. this is why arresting or prosecuting any governor remains a waste of time and money. these governors are well aware that obasojo will enjoy an everlasting immunity, therefore, they are also ready to indirectly benefit from this ridiculous everlasting immunity given to obasojo. for example, in order to further intricate or entangle things, it has been confirmed by reliable source that obasojo's name will be intentionally mentioned 95% of the time during the prosecution process of any of the corrupt governor. if obasojo is being protected from being probed or arrested or questioned, i can assure you that none of these governors would see a jail time for what they've done to us. case study: how could you properly/ legally prosecute donald h. rumsfeld for engaging in war against iraq without "at-least" first probing president bush or vp, dic k cheney? the answer is: impossible. you can go ahead and write it down: if obasojo continues to enjoy his everlasting immunity, none of these governors would spend a night in jail. |
@poster: did you say "let's save ribadu"? what about let's jail ribadu and save nigeria? |
the EFCC under Mr. Ribadu's leadership was aptly described as "the most successful scam operation ever perpetrated by any Nigerian, living or dead, on the international community". Under the guise of tackling corruption, the EFCC under Ribadu's leadership after fleecing the international community and donor agencies of millions of dollars ostensibly to 'tackle' corruption, embarked on a getaspo-like reign of terror calculated at extinguishing any opposition to Obasanjo's rule, only once in a while, did the outfit actually venture into genuinely tackling corruption. |
Under Ribadu's leadership, the EFCC focused its resources in the area of public sector corruption solely on persons who declined to revere then President Obasanjo and perceived political/filial/traditional opponents and enemies of the Obasanjo presidency. If you were 'for' Obasanjo, you could walk into any government agency and cart away all the funds therein and Ribadu's-EFCC would simply look the other way. |
The defense these Ribadu supporters advance for their continued support in the face of his one-sided and corruption-laden 'war' on corruption is that "if Ribadu as EFCC Chairman was effective in harassing anti-Obasanjo elements, it should be left to his successor to continue the 'war' on pro-Obasanjo elements upon Ribadu's exit." |
http://allafrica.com/stories/200901140302.html Nigeria: Exit of Nuhu Ribadu - Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish! Ezekwesiri Eluchie 13 January 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Email|Print|Comment Share this on: opinion Earlier in the cause of Mr. Nuhu Ribadu's travails with his employers, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), we of the Office of the National Legal Adviser of the National Conscience Party (NCP) had had cause to issue a press release titled "Re: Mallam Nuhu Ribadu's Aborted Graduation from National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS)," wherein we had urged caution and a recourse to commonsense on the part of Mr. Ribadu and the persons rooting for him. Unfortunately, our advice went unheeded thus culminating in the dismissal. The deification of Mr. Ribadu by some elements in civil society and critics is misplaced and unfortunate as it only goes to highlight the innate characteristic of the dismissed officer as a 'smart manipulator of facts and events with some friends in the media'. Even Mr. Ribadu's most ardent supporters admit that he was most partisan in the execution of his brief as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The defense these Ribadu supporters advance for their continued support in the face of his one-sided and corruption-laden 'war' on corruption is that "if Ribadu as EFCC Chairman was effective in harassing anti-Obasanjo elements, it should be left to his successor to continue the 'war' on pro-Obasanjo elements upon Ribadu's exit." Simplistic as the above postulation is, the horrendous mind-boggling looting and brigandage on our national treasury embarked upon by key figures in the administration of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo while Mr. Ribadu served as EFCC boss was largely glossed over. Apparently these pro-Obasanjo elements felt (and were actually) untouchable during the said tenure, thus exposing the Nigerian State to the most obscene and scandalous era in terms of public sector corruption. In a recently published book on Olusegun Obansanjo's tenure as 'civilian' President of Nigeria, titled "Reign of Evil," the EFCC under Mr. There has been some hype in some sections of the Nigerian media about the 'successes' attained during the tenure of Mr. Ribadu at the EFCC and how the reappraisal of Mr. Ribadu's rank in the Police Force tantamounts to 'enthronement of corruption' or a disincentive to persons saddled with national assignments. The aforementioned twin hypothesis, when properly scrutinized and evaluated, will be exposed as vexatious fallacies. The successes attributable to Mr. Ribadu's leadership of the EFCC, if any, were obtained via unconstitutional, illegal, uncouth and quasi-criminal procedures. We believe it is commonsensical that 'you cannot tackle corruption via corrupt means'. This is the same principle that makes it an anathema for the police to be engaged in extra-judicial killings even where the 'suspects/victims' happened to be at the scene of a crime. In the event that some of us have so soon forgotten the modus operandi and stock-in-trade of the Ribadu-led EFCC, we shall proceed hereunder to highlight some of his practices, which characterized a regime of impunity and lawlessness: (a). Illegal, unconstitutional and quasi-criminal use of the EFCC apparatus to instigate, coordinate and execute the 'impeachment' of State Governors 'disloyal' to then President Obasanjo (these include the impeachments of Governors Diepreye Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa, Joshua Dariye of Plateau; Ayo Fayose of Ekiti and the failed attempts to remove Governors Chris Ngige of Anambra; Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia; Boni Haruna of Adamawa and many others) (b). Illegal, unconstitutional and quasi-criminal use of the EFCC apparatus to cajole and or 'convince' aspirants for political office not sanctioned by Obasanjo to relinquish or extinguish such aspirations (as happened in the build-up to the Peoples Democratic Party congresses at various States and at the Federal level. (c). Illegal, unconstitutional and quasi-criminal use of the EFCC apparatus to detain suspects and in one instance, led to the death of erstwhile member of Nigeria's House of Representatives (Morris Ibekwe) (d). Illegal, unconstitutional and quasi-criminal use of the EFCC apparatus to invade the privacy and residence of persons perceived to oppose Obasanjo's obnoxious Third Term bid (as in the case of Mike Adenuga in Lagos State and Madam Uzor Kalu in Abia State) (e). Illegal, unconstitutional and quasi-criminal use of the EFCC apparatus to disparage and bring to disrepute the Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic in a malicious and vengeful skewed investigation into the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) - an investigation embarked upon after opposition to Obasanjo's 3rd term project became irrepressible. Relevant Links West Africa Legal and Judicial Affairs Nigeria (f). In one startling moment of revelation, then President Obasanjo in the course of an electioneering campaign rally in Ondo State, publicly threatened to 'send Nuhu Ribadu and the EFCC' after Segun Mimiko, an opposition gubernatorial candidate who had fallen out of favour with Obasanjo and was as at the time in question running against a candidate from Obasanjo's PDP. |
my darling boss: as usual, once again you've brought common sense back to this forum. ranka-dede, sir. |
@boss: i wouldn't waste my time. even if you fill up an empty head with water, still nothing would come out of it. it would just be a dizzy heavy head. people are just full of themselves; these fools think the sun, moon and stars all rise right above their heavy heads. i'm very afraid |
just like his boy-friend "el-rufai", pretty soon ribadu would become very busy; i predict that very soon ribadu too would start taking french classes in togo. |
everything would become more apparent as soon as his boy-friend, el-rufai is captured. i bet you that pretty soon you would be back to apologize when the missing puzzle is discovered. |
if you pay attention, it wouldn't take you too long to realize that this man represents everything that is wrong with our country today. |
if el-rufai goes down, it means many, including ribadu, and ex. ig would also go down immediately. the missing puzzle would be captured very soon. |
what are you talking about? ![]() |
http://www.ngex.com/cgi-bin/frame/frameit2.plx?link="http://www.tribune.com.ng" EFCC raids el-Rufai’s company, arrests 6 THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday raided a company, Systems Property Development Consortium, believed to be owned by former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai. Six persons, including the Managing Director, Mallam Idris Uthman, were arrested. Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, confirmed the raid and arrest, saying that the move had to do with an on-going investigation involving the former minister. The commission had also declared him wanted in connection with an alleged N32 billion fraud while in office. The company, located at Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, was reportedly raided at noon on Monday and documents relating to land allocations in the FCT and minutes of ministerial meetings during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo were said to have been recovered from the office. Sources close to the raid also revealed that thousands of FCDA’s official documents, list of revoked lands in Abuja as well as documents on contracts awarded by el-Rufai as minister, were recovered by the commission’s operatives. Also reportedly recovered were documents relating to the probe of his tenure as minister by the Senate Committee on FCT and land allocation forms in their thousands, already filled by applicants. It was gathered that documents and computers moved from the office revealed that el-Rufai was the brains behind the company, which he had allegedly used as a link between the ministry and land applicants while in office. Nigerian Tribune sources also disclosed that intelligence reports revealed that the company was used by the former minister in perpetrating illegal activities while in office, especially on the re-allocation of revoked land in the FCT. It was alleged that el-Rufai was in the habit of re-allocating revoked land to the company, which in turn either sold at the black market prices or developed them into estates. The sources used as an example, a portion of land originally allocated to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at Jabi Lake Front, Asokoro, which was revoked and re-allocated to alleged 45 fictitious persons, who in turn allegedly sold all their allocations to Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). It was learnt that documents recovered at the office proved that the company was being used to extort applicants for land in Abuja, especially the land allocation forms already filled by applicants, which were said to have been for a fee. At press time, only the Managing Director and one Bayo, a member of staff, were still being detained. |
@boss: i'm not sure how to take your comment, but you must never judge a book by the color of it's cover. i'm proud and feel very comfortable to let you know that i'm doing my part. and just in-case you did not know, most of these politician kids do not agree with their old-men or with the way things are being operated at home. they are bright, young and pretty much full of positive energy; therefore, it makes no sense to judge all of them by the past performance of their fathers or mothers. to move forward, we must acknowledge open mind and respect each other. if we can not do this simple task, i think our country would remain in trouble for many years. question for you: when are you planning to return home? aren't you tired of being second citizen? |
Ribadu will be reinstated by the court. Mark my wordyou're right, there is possibility that he will be reinstated by court. but being reinstated is not his objective, in-fact, the fed/npf has no problem with ribadu being in the force, they prefer him in the force. i can assure you that as soon as he's reinstated, he will immediately be posted at the opoja local government to mingle with mosquitoes and chase local armed robbers around. mamajama, what you do not understand is, ribadu has no interest in being reinstated. the man is more concerned about power, covering himself and his legacy. if you understand politics, then you would realize that ribadu being reinstated represents an everlasting punishment. |
i bet you guys that if el-rufai isn't captured, his program as foreign student would run for exactly 4 years (till yaradua's term ends). and if yaradua wins the next presidential election, i also bet you that el-rufai would immediately register for another program that would also run for another 4 years. i mean, you can never learn too much while you enjoy stolen money. the truth of this matter is, el-rufai can not afford to answer any question at this time. any answer coming from this man will immediately bring down too many people e.g ribadu, ex ig e.t.c. ribadu is currently taking or being given a break till el-rufai is captured. i think el-rufai is the missing puzzle. question: if el-rufai is so busy in school studying, what the hell was he doing in dubai? he has visited dubai at least 3 times since he has been placed on wanted list. without any question, this man has alot to hide from. |
@boss love:as usual, you have a point. in the past couple of weeks, i had few moments to study more about lam adesina's family and it seems to me that many have no love for these people. but i still feel comfortable to say dapo's case may be a different case. also, i got to spend the new year's eve with few politician kids couple of weeks ago, and i must admit that these kids are mostly equipped and ready to run/ take over things in nigeria. they seem to be very bright and have more than enough to easily win any election. it is certainly apparent to me that an average nigerian can not be compared to the capabilities of these kids. they have more than what is required to win. therefore, if this is not what you guys want, i would advise you to either stop running out of the country or start returning back home; or else ibrahim abacha might be the next senate president. |
@my darling boss: this is not true. it is very important to understand the difference between supporting what dapo is currently doing and supporting lam adesina. supporting what this young man is doing doesn't me i've cast my vote. i've only displayed my sincere support to encourage this man and other young politicians. it isn't fair to judge the future of a son based on the past performance of his father. we can not move forward smoothly if this is what our state of mind is made of; a great study case would be jesse jackson jr and jesse jackson sr. regardless of what the history says about jesse jackson sr, i certainly think jesse jackson jr has a bright/ fruitful future in politics. |
@poster, i thought this was a done deal many weeks ago? ribadu has finally discovered that nigeria is a country and not a village. you can not pick and choose which of the rules you'll like to obey. nobody is too special or bigger than this country, therefore, the rules and regulations are put together not for decoration, but for all citizens to follow at all time. i do not think this is the end of ribadu, we shall hear more about his special ways of operating as soon as his boy-friend "el-rufai" is captured. abeg ₦39b isn't a small money. |
honest answer: 1.at the moment, i do not know much about waziri. 2.it's too early to accurately criticize waziri. 3.ribadu wouldn't go away, therefore they will continue to use him as the reason for their failure finally, waziri will be brought down if she steps on the rule of law. if you do not believe me, please test me. a country that has no law has no criminal, therefore, our laws must be obeyed by everyone of us at all time. this is the first step out of darkness. |
prof jacobs or whatever you call yourself, you sound like you're the first in your family to attend university. please, give me a break, you haven't done anything, but wrote up a story just like another unmindful nigerian newspaper journalist wannabe. may be now is the right time to take your own advise and deeply think before abusing your keyboard. we are not supporting the ex governors, they can all go straight to hell. the point here is: we can not do the right thing using wrong or illegal technique. we can not divide our laws into different pieces to accommodate our super heroes. we can not judge an individual performance without clearly understanding the intentions of this person. we can not disobey the rule of land just because we feel that we've done so much for the country. as police officers, we can not disrespect the rules and regulations of the force just because we feel too special. ribadu has been invited since september to answer few questions to clarify things, it's december, the man still hasn't made himself available. ribadu was posted for duty since the beginning of november, it's december, the man hasn't shown up. ribadu took the fg/npf to court, eventhough he knew it was illegal and clearly against the rules and regulations. so, how could you accurately judge his performance when we still don't know what really went down during his era? just in case you did not know, el-rufai worked very closely with ribadu. it is now confirmed that el-rufai has also joined his friend, by using education as an excuse for not making himself available to answer how almost ₦400B disappeared. the difference between these crooks and the ex governors are not much, if you ask me. just because people are dieing on our roads and planes are dropping from the sky doesn't mean we should allow certain people to operate in which ever way they desire. this type of mentality would only further multiply our troubles by a very large number. nobody is above the law and all human kind in nigeria should be treated equally regardless of the state of things. this is the only way out of darkness, and i expect sensible nigerians to at least encourage ribadu not to dig up his own grave by doing things accordingly. it is true that everyone is supposed innocent until having been declared guilty in the court of law, but your super model "ribadu" isn't even taking the chance to be proven guilty. i guess it's damn too risky for him to make that move. may be nigeria will go somewhere some day, as soon as we start thinking with our heads and not with our feet, prof jacobs! again, i do not think asking ribadu to report for questioning by efcc or report for work is too much to ask any great citizen of nigeria. don't you think? |
again, let us ask ribadu whether he knew anything about the importation of voting machines and ballot papers, and you'll see how quick he disappears. utmost power, a lot of money, top security personnel and a list of few names to be brought down. what else is left? i honestly don't see any big deal, any idiot could have done the dirty job without any problem. i also believe that ribadu was promoted twice in less than 3 months. in reality, it takes up to 8 years for an officer of ribadu's level to get those 2 promotions. but ribadu accepted the promotions without any hesitation, to polish up his ego. a decent man would have advised mr president to slow down a bit. i was also informed that ribadu thought yaradua administration was going to bless him with an igp position for all the illegalities that he intentionally did not investigate during the 2007 presidential election process. ribadu treated the vp of this country, the man that introduced him to the limelight, like an animal. he went against the constitution to severely punish a sitting vp, all because he wanted to impress obasojo for another illegal promotion. ribadu went too far and crossed the line, all for his own indirect benefit. it is impossible to fight corruption with corruption. and just in case you did not know, ribadu did attempt to relocate to uk under the premise of nigeria fg was after his life, but he was rejected. if your hands are not dirty, how come mr ribadu refuses to answer few questions? if nobody is above the law, how come mr ribadu continues to break the rule of law? if mr ribadu is such a great police man, how come he intentionally steps on the rules and regulations and disrespects all his seniors in force? if it is all about nigeria as our country, how come mr ribadu refuses to report to duties for many weeks with out any explanation? if it is about fighting corruption to the last drop of blood, how come mr ribadu attempts to run to uk, under a false premise? the truth is: it is stupid and ridiculous to conclude that ribadu did a great job without fully understanding what really went down during his time as the chairman of efcc. how could a student be accurately judged without a report card? |
he will be captured very soon. |
What proof do you have to support your claim that he accepted an “ILLEGAL” promotion from a corrupt individual? I don’t want rhetoric, just proof pleaseyou must be kidding. |
kobo, why are you trying to compare orange to smoked corn. i do not see your point at all. dapolam is a young man, who is currently presenting his case for the next election. ribadu on the other hand is an ordinary police officer, who was hand picked and promoted by one of the most corrupt leader on this planet. now, what exactly one has to do with the other? just in case you did not know, to my knowledge, dapolam hasn't disobeyed any rules or regulations. and i haven't even endorsed him as yet, i've only asked people to relax a bit and allow the young man to completely present what he's selling. i've also advised people to judge him for what he's selling as himself and not as his father, the former governor of oyo state. i honestly see nothing wrong with what i've done so far. ribadu has already sold his commodities along with himself, therefore, there is nothing else left. he has done ok, but he has no credibility, and this is because, when you accept an illegal promotion from a corrupt individual, it automatically places a permanent red mark on your status as a great citizen of nigeria. i do not care what people say, many in nigeria know that ribadu was mostly looking out for himself and seeking for the utmost power, like it used to be. |
? |
i'm a nigerian citizen, what do you expect? |
latest from abuja: apologizing process has already began. in fact, the process started few days ago, but it was too late to save his job. i honestly think that people like ribadu usually doesn't function well outside nigeria, therefore, the apologizing process will continue. if the process is unsuccessful, mr ribadu might end up joining his best friend in uk/ dubai. he can not afford to answer 98% of the question without landing himself into a very big mess. he knows it and others know this fact too. |
. please, go home and check things out. with your background and bright state of mind, i think you can contribute in a big way. and i can also assure you that you'll do much better.
