do you want me to list how many former top officials ribadu questioned during his time as the chairman of efcc? do you want me to list what happened to many nigerian citizens that did not immediately respond to ribadu's invitation?
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 3:17pm On Dec 23, 2008
This is the point am making,  if by the time his has be done; and the investigating officer sees a need to taking further action on the matter; instead of inviting the suspect u proceed to effect an arrest,  It is that simple,
U need to learn to argue contructively without attcahing personal sentiments,  Ribadu cannot be my role model because i have never stated that he is; that i take a stand based on integrity rather than liason maybe a strange concept to u
move darling, you can not complete an investigation without questioning 5 to 50 people. that is the point and the right way.
now, if you're invited by fg, it is your duty as a great citizen to immediately make yourself available, so that an investigation could be completed on time. any delay from you may jeopardize the successful outcome. this is what we have been preaching. ribadu as a former top fg official understands the importance of questioning people during investigation, but he refused to work with fg. now his best friend is pulling the same stunt. and you people see nothing wrong with this ridiculous action. it is sad, very sad indeed. we want a better nigeria, but we do not want the proper steps toward improvement to take place. a great example of lost souls.

As soon as I saw this thread, I knew Cre8tivity would be on it, but she's very controversial in her view as she thinks Ribadu's not done enough and now she's against El-Rufai, but she's trying to support DapoLam in his quest to be Nigeria'a congress man.

What's up now?

It's seems like you're into padipadi government, are you?
sorry boss, i just hate hypocrites, who think they're smarter than the rest. i do not know what it is, but from the way these bushmen "ribadu and el-rufai" have been handling things, something tells me that they have a lot of reasons to hide.
dapolam on the other hand is a young man who is trying to change the page, i believe in giving people a chance. i will never give him credit or take anything away from him because of his father's performance as the gov of oyo state. and i think this is how it should be.

move baby, if you know anything about carrying out a complete investigation, especially the one that involves top federal government officials from the last administration, it is a standard rule to exhaust all options by ensuring that all stones are turned before making your conclusion. any silly mistake may result into a very embarrassing and devastating outcome. i guess, you did not know this simple rule, but i can not blame you, afterall ribadu, your role model didn't know this rule either. he rushed like a figure head into 95% of his operations, and this is why none has been resolved as yet.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 2:38pm On Dec 23, 2008
i wouldn't be surprised if el-rufai is arrested by uk officials and deported back to nigeria. regardless of the matter, people over there in uk understand the importance of rules of law. i think it would happen soon.
just in case you did not know, ribadu has finally realized his mistakes and he's now willing to submit. i just wonder how long it would take you people to see clearly that for any progress to be witnessed in our country, we, as the citizens of nigeria must first be willing to obey the rules of law at all time. it doesn't matter if bad leaders are in-charge, the rules of law must be obeyed. it is that simple.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 2:29pm On Dec 23, 2008
i still find it very unbelievable to realize the high number of lost young nigerians. how could you condone anyone to disregard the rules of law? it is totally absurd. we may have bad leaders and we may even have a bad country, but we must never allow these set-backs to prevent us from understanding the importance of obeying the rules of law. now that el-rufai and ribadu have made it known that efcc could kiss their behinds, how would you feel if another 40m citizens start following the same foot steps of these "your role models"? what you guys are doing is not that different from what adedibu's supporters did during his time.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 1:57pm On Dec 23, 2008
move darling, you just don't get it. just because efcc has invited your boys doesn't necessarily mean they've done anything wrong. what is killing your boys is the ridiculous excuses they've given for not honoring the invitation. and just in case you did not know, fbi does invite people for questioning all the time, just because people in united states obey the rules and regulations doesn't mean fbi doesn't invite them. without questioning few people surrounding an investigation, how the hell do you expect a successful outcome? move love, this is why i tend to ignore you most of the time, you just don't think properly before posting.

PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 11:40pm On Dec 22, 2008
how would you define an individual that is running from facing the law? there is no such thing as " because of my studies i can't honour fbi's EFCC's  invitation". this is nothing but a total disrespect. moreover, it brings more attention when this kind of statement comes from one of our role models. who the hell exactly these people think they are?

Remember, all innocent, until proven guilty. And justice must be done, and also SEEN to be done. Period!
you need to send this message to ribadu.

do you know what happened to people that did not immediately honour ribadu's invitation?
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 10:22pm On Dec 22, 2008
i don't get your point. so, the only people being touched by this regime are of a certain colour. they are strong men, ambitious, performers, strategic and intelligent, etc. what is your point? so, if you are ambitious, performer, strategic and intelligent you should be left alone? please, give me a break, a thief is a thief. and a thief should be brought down. chief odelli is one of the biggest thieves around today and yet he's a medical doctor. alams or ibori isn't a dummy either. the problem here is nigerians are shielding certain group of people because we love them and they've done so much for the country. i'm sorry, this is not the way. a thief is a thief. everybody should follow the same rules. if ribadu or el-rufai or fashola or adeboye or yaradua or kanu or okocha or okiro or anybody is guilty of stealing from the nigeria government, this individual should be prosecuted accordingly. nobody is above the law. i think more will come out soon, it will become very clear that in-fact our role models that we are shielding from rules of law are also crooks. you can not fight corruption with corruption and expect honey to be flowing from the sky in abuja. it is impossible. the least a decent nigeria could do is to encourage el-rufai to come back home and answer the questions.

Nuhu Ribadu Withdraws Lawsuit Against AGF, IGP, EFCC
x | December 22, 2008
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn a suit which he filed before a Federal High Court against the EFCC, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation.

Ribadu had been seeking a declaration that the EFCC, Police, and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) were not entitled in law to deny his fundamental rights to liberty and freedom of movement as stated in Sections 35 [1] of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Ribadu’s counsel made an oral application for discontinuance of the suit saying the suit had been overtaken by events.

The Chief Judge the directed the counsel to file notice and he complied with that immediately. The notice of discountenance dated December 17 was brought pursuant to order 30 rule 2 (1) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) rules 2000.

The counsel to the AGF disagreed saying that the suit could not be withdrawn at that stage since they had joined issues with the plaintiff by filing a counter affidavit and there were judicial decisions in support.

But the judge said: “A judicial decision must be predicated on the rules of law of this court. Lawyers will be citing judicial decision based on the rule of another court, please, we should stop wasting time.” I am satisfied that this suit should be discontinued. It is therefore discontinued. I hereby struck it out

xEFCC declares El-Rufai wanted over misappropriation of N32 billion public funds
x | December 22, 2008
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), wanted over alleged misappropriation of N32 billion public funds.

In a statement the said el-Rufai “is wanted for abuse of office and misappropriation public funds to the tune of N32 billion.

“The need to declare el-Rufai wanted became imperative following his failure to honour a simple invitation from the Commission to respond to weighty allegations levelled at him in petitions being investigated by the Commission,”

The EFCC said it had “written el-Rufai some weeks ago to appear before it on November 28, 2008. Instead of honouring the invitation, he wrote back through his counsel, asking the EFCC to send its questions to him. He had claimed then that he was writing an examination outside the country.

“This prompted the Commission to grant him another three (3) weeks grace. But instead of seizing the opportunity to respond to the weighty allegations against him, he has resorted to a hide and seek game, and an appalling show of impunity on the pages of newspapers,”

el-Rufai in an interview said “I am a student. I cannot leave my studies to reurn to Nigeria to answer questions from anybody because I am not a government employee.

adedibu got away with disobeying the rules of law till he finally died few months ago. till today ibadan people are still feeling the negative effect of his actions. during those days, when anything was said about adedibu on disobeying the rules of law, his supporters were ready to kill. they felt that he had done so much for them and for politics in the country, therefore it was ok for him to step right on the face of rules of law. in fact obasojo/ ribadu confirmed this acceptance during the same period. do you people remember this statement: "adedibu as a dried fish can not be changed" by obasojo.
this is a terrible state of mind and a quick way to sink the entire nation. and it seems to me that you guys are repeating this history. the difference bwt you guys and adedibu's followers are not much, all of you are guilty of the same crime.
regardless of the matter, the rules of law must be obeyed by everybody . this is the only way out of darkness.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 8:06pm On Dec 22, 2008
i hope all the looters are stoned to death. i'm not in anyway supporting any ex governor. what i'm supporting is obeying the rules of law. nobody is above the law. if ribadu or el-rufai gets away with this latest stunt, believe it or not, it makes prosecuting this thieves "ex governor" more difficult. it is very low, weak and stupid to give excuses for our role models to disobey the rules of law. nigeria as a country will remain motionless for a very long time if we think this way. for us to witness any progress, the rules of law must be obeyed by ALL. this is what every one of us should be promoting and not giving free pass to step all over the rules of law.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 7:51pm On Dec 22, 2008
yemesse: yes, keep your distance till the future of our country falls apart. a very good percentage of the young stars are already living outside nigeria, who knows how many more to go. keep your distance while our role models share their parts of the pie. ribadu rejected many invitations from efcc few weeks ago because he was studying for his final exam. el-rufai is also rejecting the invitation because he's currently out of the country busy studying for his coming exam. please, tell me that this is a joke.
This is how shallow minded some Nigerians can be,  he was invited for questioning while he was outside the country.  He appointed a lawyer to represent him.  Why can't the EFCC send all their correspondence through his representative?

People want him to abandon his studies and come back to Nigeria.

Question:

Will EFCC reimburse him for his flight itinerary?

Will they reimburse him if he has to re-take the course?

What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Can someone tell us all what rule of Law  that this useless administration is acclaiming means?
mamajama love, just in case you did not know: ribadu and el-rufai are not just average nigerian citizens, they were parts of the top federal government officials. for example, when fbi is seeking to question any united states citizen for anything, you will never hear this type of weak or ridiculous excuses and you do not dispatch a lawyer to represent you when you're being wanted for questioning. you could request for the presence of your lawyer during the questioning, but it is purely your responsibility to make yourself available immediately. if you need assistance in making yourself available, your lawyer could then put in an official request for assistance. this request may or may not be approved by the fg, it all depends on your circumstance. mamajama, as a lawyer, i thought simple scenario like this should be very clear to you. oh well, i guess you don't expect much from a community lawyer.
ribadu and el-rufai are mixing things up as usual, they seem to be very confused or at least not getting good advise. there is a big difference between education circumstance and medical circumstance. what both of these guys are trying to pull is usually something you pull when medical circumstance is involved.

i'm a politician because i support obeying the rules of law, i'm related to an ex governor because i refuse to side with ribadu's or el-rufai's disobeying the rules and regulations, i'm not serious minded because i feel that obeying the rules and regulations by all is the beginning of prosperity and a path towards greatness. it is very sad to see how many young nigerians are already lost.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 4:20pm On Dec 22, 2008
i think our main problem in nigeria is not exactly knowing what we want. just in case you did not know, the beginning of improvement and prosperity is obeying the rules and regulation by everybody. it could be a small business or a large corporation, if the established rules are not obeyed, nothing will go well. it seems to me that many of us here do not clearly understand the importance of obeying the law of the land, regardless of the matter. it is senseless to abandon the rules and regulations just because we disagree with less than 5% of the population. anybody that supports ribadu or his friend, el-rufai is an enemy of progress. there are tons of other ways to show your support and love for these individuals, condoning their stupidity is not one.
PoliticsRe: Why I Won’t Honour EFCC's Invitation Now - El-Rufai by cre8tivity(f): 3:10pm On Dec 22, 2008
this is what happens when you allow your rules an regulations to be disobeyed. this is what happens when we praise a soldier that goes to war to fight for the country,  but returns to disobey the law. mark it down, this is just the starting point, many others will follow. el-rufai should be treated like a deadly criminal. this is the only way this mess would stop.

you seem to be very good at taking your time to answer every single question, that's very impressive. but this time, you missed my question. again, before we start throwing each other under the bus, do we know the candidates dapolam would be running against in 2011?
PoliticsRe: Dapolam Accepts Defeat, speaks to Nairalanders by cre8tivity(f): 9:38pm On Dec 19, 2008
what are we trying to do here? are we trying to compare ibb and dapolam? please give me a break. dapolam was just another young dude that was busy running around and trying to find his identity. i hope no-one is trying to judge me for what i did almost 10 years ago. nobody is perfect except for few people here. if you do not want the man as the representative, it is ok and very much legal, but don't come here judging this dude on what he did or did not do many years ago. whether we like it or not, we can not accurately predict what a potential politician is capable of doing once he's elected. therefore, the best we could do is to allow everybody to present what they are selling and hope to make the right choice. another question for all of you is:before we start throwing each other under the bus, do we know the candidates dapolam would be running against in 2011?

believe it or not, this is the first positive critic i've seen here so far. i think dapolam has shown us that he isn't scared of criticism. and something tells me that he will make use of both positive and negative comments on this topic to prepare and develop himself into a great contributor, working towards the rebuilding of this country. 2011 is few more years down, the man is young and he's full of positive energy. it is never too late to make it happen if you're sincerely willing. if his intentions are genuine, i think he will do just fine. my question to you all is: what if dapolam turns out to be one of the most effective and honest politicians that we've ever come across?
PoliticsRe: Ribadu And Recovered Funds by cre8tivity(f): 5:00pm On Dec 19, 2008

a country that has no law or weak law is lost.
PoliticsRe: Ribadu And Recovered Funds by cre8tivity(f): 4:57pm On Dec 19, 2008
idiopathis, again, please do not misunderstand my point. if
(ODILI, IBORI, OBJ, KALU, ALAMS etc)
are guilty of any charges, i hope they spend the rest of their lives in jail. the beginning of repairing our weak laws is by making sure all citizens obey the rules and regulations at all time, no exception.
PoliticsRe: If Yar'adua Recalls Ribadu To Head Efcc? by cre8tivity(f): 4:52pm On Dec 19, 2008
idiopathic: just because i think doing the right thing is also obeying the rules and regulations doesn't mean i'm supporting the looters. please do no misunderstand my point. if any of the looters is guilty, i hope he or she spends the rest of his or her life in jail. we can not continue like this, the nation can not function well when we have different rules for different people for different situation. all citizens should be treated equally by following the same rules at all time. our problem in nigeria is bigger than ribadu and nigeria as a country is also bigger than ribadu. therefore it makes no sense to compromise our rules and regulations because ribadu happens to be your role model.
an average human being would agree with me. again, i do not support looters in any way, i only support doing the right thing legally and correctly. and this is the only way to be great again.
PoliticsRe: Us Questions Maduekwe On Corruption, Ribadu by cre8tivity(f): 7:23pm On Dec 18, 2008
Minister of foreign Affairs, Ojo Maduekwe, has been made to answer some hard questions by the international community following what is being regarded as a decline in Nigeria’s fight against corruption mirrored in the seeming ‘harassment’ of the former helmsman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu.
Maduekwe, speaking to newsmen, Tuesday, in Abuja, noted that these subjects formed the key issues raised by United States policy makers, who he conferred with during his official visit to Washington D.C. last week.
Ojo Maduekwe
In defence of the present administration, the minister noted that there has been no decline in the fight against corruption, but just more focus on good governance and the observance of due process.
Acknowledging the difference between the approaches of the past and present government, the minister explained that the methods employed by the Obasanjo regime was necessary at that time when the nation was in dire need of control, saying, however, now was the time to thoroughly respect the rule of law and fundamental human rights.
He said, “There can be a corrupt way of fighting corruption, when you ignore that the accused also has rights, that an accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Nigeria is capable of trying the corrupt people by it.”
Maduekwe though commending Ribadu’s time at the EFCC, noted that the incidents surrounding his recent fall-out with the authorities was unfortunate, noting, however, that it was not enough to attract international intervention.

According to him, he told the US officials that “there is no need for diplomatic intervention. What we need is capacity building for our officials to fight corruption, but even that should not come with strings attached. We would not accept any lecture on this matter from any nation no matter how powerful. We would not tolerate any meddling.”
Notably, these events would most likely affect Nigeria’s ratings with Transparency International (TI), an independent international body that rates the degree of corruption in a nation, a possibility Maduekwe says would affect more the integrity of TI than Nigeria “because I don’t see why the problem between one employee and his employer should affect the perception of our transparency especially in the light of the great strides the nation has made.”
nicely and maturely answered.
love it.
