The annoying thing is that with all the proGRAMMERS(not programmers) here.
I am yet to see many nigerian programmers contributing majorly to their programming language of choice.
You are a java/c/assembly/haskell pro, what was the last library you developed or helped developed?
Are you recognised in the open source community?
Its your aims and what you do that matters...

elvis10ten: but do u think any big standard classic ict firms will hire a php coder to create/modify/update their desktop apps rather than someone that is dedicated for the job ?
No.just not suited for the job...
But just an instance...
Besides php should remain what it is,a web scripting language..
I hope you get my point..

^^actually that used to be my reaction to the type of post i made but now i have had a rethink...
creatrixity:
What is PHP-GTK?
PHP-GTK is an extension for the PHP programming language that implements language bindings for GTK . It provides an object-oriented interface to GTK classes and functions and greatly simplifies writing client-side cross-platform GUI applications.
source

And yeah, you can create desktop apps with php.
I am not a php-desktop app creation fan though..
Python takes care of that..

Kennyinusa: @CODE-EATER
To me you are just kinda confused and devastated because your gf left you. And everything that you have posted isn't matching up.
To be candid, you aint a programmer.

You write script(markup) THAT ALL. And it would take more than PHP/MYSQL/JQUERY/JS to be a programmer. Programmer's design web apps, desktop apps, mobile apps, cloud based apps. So if you feel that you are there(here) then you are not.

The fact that your girlfriend left you doesn't mean that you should create a trend.

Assholes like me have a life, and i have spent more that 18Hrs with my laptop over the past 24Hrs.

So, get yourself together, coordinate you live(living) and make your passion your profession. If you really love this so called programming, then dont let one bleeped up girl who doesn't care about what you care about make you feel bad about your life.

You are wrong.it is now possible to write desktop apps with php(php gtk anyone?).
Also a person with a proficiency in erlang is not a programmer?
undecided undecided

otokx:

next time if there is such a thing, demand to speak with the highest exam official at the venue who should be the JAMB supervisor, how can the biometric operator say she is tired? but guy come, which can lie you dey blow na? the maximum number of candidates in a center is 540 so how did you come about the 580+
It seems you do not know the jamb exams are written in Nigeria-the home of possible impossibilities.
I believe it was due to the laziness/lack of devices/time-frame of the officials that conducted the exam.

Nairaland Christians are but a tiny proportion of christianity. And those are the "educated ones". Imagine what the rest are like.
No. Don't imagine. Just attend any church next sunday and try to speak with one of them.
Depends on the church you enter and even then ignorance will be in grades.
E.g If you have the misfortune to stumble into a gathering of the lords chosen SHEEPLE.You would find more ignorance compared to say, Jw.

Religion / Re: Most Christians Are Illiterates. by Creatrixity(m): 11:05am On May 02, 2013
alfaman2: I have noticed that the more enlightened one is, the less likely he is to be a christian.

Each sunday in many churches, 90% of the sheeple there have never seen the inside wall of an institute of higher education.

Christianity also encourages illiteracy because they are afraid of losing their sources of income.

Augustine of Hippo warned people to beware of mathematics. They made him a saint.

I now start to understand why I can't reason with the likes of Frosbel, Jesoul, Stricktlymi, Oladegbu, Goshen, et al. We are not on the same intellectual level.

And I am not ready to go down many levels because of useless brains. So atheists, next time you are discussing with a real christian, please note that his/her level of intelligence is not what you may be thinking it is.
Most Nairaland Christians are anti-knowledge(check threads with topics like "Russian billionaire plans to make humans immortal by the year 2045" etc) and you will be appalled at the level of opposition to new scientific knowledge but to call them illiterates?Man that is off key!!!
